Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man
caboose replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
Which is the point I tried to make. Thanks for clearing it up a bit. However, a new villain playing second fiddle to GG2 or another new villain may backfire in the face of Sony. Batman Forever and Batman & Robin being the main examples. -
Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man
caboose replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
Multiple bad guy scenarios suck on film unless you have mulitple good guys. Casual fans will want to see the conclusion of Peter-Harry in Spider-Man III, anything else and a lot of casual fans will be pissed. Granted Spider-Man films may be successful catering to the comic book fans but Sony needs the casual film-goers just as much. -
They were pretty much dead in the water (cliche 1) after Taker buried them alive (cliche 2), so they had to be pulled off of TV before one final run (cliche 3).

You know it does. "Biker Mice From Mars" is such a sore spot with me, I truly hate it. Its everything wrong with TV and society.

Big difference is that none of the people you posted made it into the Top 100 Britons Of All Time. Oh and just for the record... Hugh Grant > Bryan Adams.

100 Greatest Canadians Ever 90 BRYAN ADAMS 1959 - This gravelly voiced Vancouver rocker is equally at home playing rock anthems (“Cuts Like A Knife”) or power ballads (“Heaven”), and was one of the songwriters behind the famine relief single “Tears Are Not Enough.” He’s still recording hit albums, and also forging a successful career as a photographer. 56 WILLIAM SHATNER He performed dramatic roles on Broadway and at Ontario’s Stratford Theatre, until he signed on to play Captain James T. Kirk on Star Trek in 1966. Stardom and cult status soon followed, and to this day, critics still use the word “Shatnerian” to describe his signature dramatic pauses. 51 PAMELA ANDERSON 1967 - Plucked from obscurity at a football game, the buxom Vancouver native went on to be a Tool Time Girl, Playboy cover model and Baywatch superstar. But with her subsequent acting roles, tongue-in-cheek novel, Star, and work as a spokesperson for PETA, this savvy blonde proved she was anything but dumb. 40 AVRIL LAVIGNE 1984 - The teenaged “punk princess” who topped the Canadian charts with her irresistibly hooky first single (“Complicated”) hails from Napanee. Her tomboyish fashion sense and poppy empowerment songs (“Sk8er Boi” and “Don’t Tell Me”) made her an instant role model for throngs of teenage girls. 39 BRET HART Considered one of the world’s best technical wrestlers, “The Hitman” is a five-time WWF champion. During the 80s, he delighted WrestleMania fans as half of the legendary, brutal tag team, The Hart Foundation. 29 JIM CARREY 1962 This comic first attracted attention as Fire Marshall Bill on In Living Colour, then perfected his rubber-faced style in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) and Dumb and Dumber (1994). After winning two Golden Globe Awards for The Truman Show (1998) and Man in the Moon (1999), he settled into his most natural role yet: bankable Hollywood superstar. 27 CÉLINE DION 1968- As the youngest of 14 children, it's possible she might occasionally have lacked attention as a small child. Not any more. Today, millions of fans cherish every song sung by the most famous pop diva in the world. 20 MIKE MYERS 1963 - He honed his comic chops at Second City, then during his six seasons on Saturday Night Live. Topping the box office as a Scarborough headbanger in Wayne’s World (1992) and a shagadelic secret agent in three Austin Powers films, he proved himself one of Canada’s most gifted comics, and adoring fans love to watch him party on. 18 SHANIA TWAIN 1965- After her humble beginnings singing in a hotel bar in Timmins, she changed her name to “Shania”. When her four albums spawned a slew of country-pop hits, the midriff-baring chanteuse behind “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” reinvigorated a well-worn music genre and promptly became the top-selling country artist of all time.

Well considering Canada is still part of the Commonwealth, the Empire still hasn't got rid of all the useless bits yet. See Canada is like a box of your old toys in the attic. Your mom tells you get rid of them but for whatever reason you can't bring yourself to do it, despite them all being completely useless to you know.

Since when do Canadians have opinions? They usually like having their asses penetrated by the fence they ride all to commonly.

I'm pretty sure my real name can be found in various places here and at WDI, so Capitol City Goofball (Mascot) snoop around...

Do you have a sensation of speed this time round? I've felt that as the series progressed, I didn't feel like I was travelling at high speeds.

UPDATE... From: Sky Sports.com Klitschko is just stating what a lot of people think and what many of us have posted in the thread already. Seems to me like Klitschko is trying to goad Lewis back into the ring. It's like something out of Rocky...

I think the two met for Rocky's Undisputed title on RAW back in the summer of 2002 if I'm not mistaken.

What the fuck is "Pete and Pete"?
-
Best idea ever.

Yeah Big Dady, Haystacks and McManus are well known from the days of ITV Sports. Savage and Taker are better known that you'd think. From the days of Sky being a very minority thing the two of them followed Hogan for many years. Bret would probably be tossed off my list for Piper.

Have you forgotten the British Bulldog, Brighty? The Dynamite Kid is also quite well known as the other half of the Bulldogs as well, which is kind of sad considering what Billington achieved in Canada, Japan and the US. Also the Undertaker is pretty well known as a result of his longevity and gimmick. For the UK i'd say the top ten is... 1) Big Daddy 2) Hulk Hogan 3) Giant Haystacks 4) Britsh Bulldog 5) The Rock 6) Undertaker 7) Dynamite Kid 8) Macho Man Randy Savage 9) Mick McManus 10) Bret Hart

I've listed The Rock for Austin for the following reasons... Austin had his first big match against Bret at Survivor Series 1996, the very show Rocky made his debut. Austin was the hated heel, while Rocky initally was a face, both however were on the verge of having the fans make them and break them. They met for the first time in their short but entertaining IC title feud, Austin was mega-face, Rocky was starting to really get going in his People's Champion heel run. Vince stripped Austin of the title and awarded it to Rocky (fore shadowing in two ways, intentional or not). The feud culminates at the Rumble when Austin is victorious by elminating Rocky last. Survivor Series 98 after both have successful World and IC title reigns, Rocky is on the verge of being a mega-face himself but swerves to the Corporation and with Vince's help becomes World Champion, Vince himself having screwed Austin out of the that very title. They clash at WM15 were Austin is triumphant proving that he is Rocky's superior. They cross paths on and off after Rocky's face turn, before Austin is injured. Rocky wins the title in large part due to Austin's involvment at Backlash 2000. They share a stare post match as if to setup the next year. Austin returns and Rocky is prime suspect for his car induced injury. They clash in the 6 pack Hell In A Cell and then as two of the final three in the 2001 Rumble. Austin goes to Wrestlemania as Rumble winner while Rocky regains the title to setup the best WM main event of all time (IMO). In Austin's absence, Rocky arguably became the man, now Austin is back to prove a point. However Austin is no longer good enough to defeat the more experienced Rocky, Austin turns to Vince for help and Austin is victorious. (Reverse of SS98). Rocky is suspended and Austin turns to WCW. Vince brings Rocky back to help out the WWF and its Rocky pinning Austin at yet another Surivior Series (2001) to banish WCW from Sports-Entertainment. Both become victims of the Vince intorduced nWo, but are also both triumphant over nWo opponents at WM18. Both leave the WWF/E in the summer of 2002, with Rocky even making the speech about Austin taking his ball home. Both return in February of 2003 and Rocky challenges Austin to a match at WM19 to prove to everyone he is better and end is WM jinx against Austin. Rocky finally defeats Austin at WM19 to end a feud that spanned almost 6 years, three WM Main Events, and involved the World Title more often than not. That for me is why Austin-Rock is the top of both men's lists.
