Sort of, but with a much different dynamic. Mankind was a fearless psycho who was practically impervious to pain; Sting is a mystical, paranormal figure who rarely speaks, and resides in the black shadows of stoicism. You know how the Undertaker taunts his opponents with white lightning, purple smoke, and bell tolls? Well, Sting would counteract that with black darkness, spontaneous appearances, the ominous pointing of his black bat, descenting from the rafters, the foreboding presence of the crow, his daunting theme music, etc. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I doubt there will be any rafter descending in WWE after the Owen thing, but I like your idea.

I think it is confirmed. And why would you unload the orginals? the new ones will have the blur-a -vision and wwf edited out. but hey I m sure you could get some decent money for your originals (hell I might want to buy them someday)

reminds me of MADTV one time they did a skit where some scientist guy unveiled his new time machine, which was just a bed, he set the alarm clock and said all you have to do is get under the covers and lie down and you will be transported 8 hour sinto the future.

I guess I made a mistake cuz you inferered by that line that I was saying there are no good pitchers left. I know of all the guys you mentioned believe it or not lol I guess I was trying to say that Baseball has become such an offense-dominated game over the last decade that the art of pitching has taken a backseat. Of course more recently the Homers have decreased and alot more closer, low scoring games are occuring (probably a lot of the players are are getting off the roids). With this crazy era you had more kids wanting to grow up to be a big slugger and homer hitter like McGwire on Bonds as opposed to being the next Roger Clemens. And a lot of the list of great current pitchers are older vets. I would liek to see more new young guys who can pitch come up. I try to follow all of baseball, but since I'm such a hardcore Yankees fan, I care most about them. The comment mentioned earlier about living in Boston and being a REDSOX fan rings true with me and the Yanks. I hope that's not a crime. I think I have mentioned before here somewhere that I am probably more of a Yankee fan that MLB fan. I mean I can watch a good baseball game with other teams, but I don't have an emotional interest in the game so it decreases my interest a bit (but is probably better for my health Of course if the game is a wild affair or a close pitching duel, or anything else that is really exciting I can enjoy it a whole lot more. But nothing compares (In my eyes) to the emotional joy and trauma associated with watching my favorite team. Since I don't get to watch them every day, when I do that game often becomes like k the 7th game of the world series to me. But you are right to say that when you only focus on one team you miss a lot of other stuff, which is why I continue to be amazed when teams come out of nowhere (well at the least- to me) to win it all and/or beat my team in October . (see 01 D-Backs, 02 Angels 03 Marlins) So that is why I don't talk much about baseball here other than the Yankees, because they are my number one priority in all of sports. And I follow them more than I folow anything else in MLB. But I really appreciate the fact that all of you here appear to be true fans of Baseball, since it's not often the "cool sport" to the general public anymore. I'm sorry if my general ignorance has offended anyone, but I can only tell you what I feel.

Man looking back at the smurfs now, it all seems really weird. I hardly rememebered a lot of that stuff cuz I was little and its been so long. I do remember owning at least 2 smurfs records though.

That's basically true, but there are still lots of young kids who are fans, judging by the live crowds and the merchandise sales.

You also gotta love Jesse At the WMS where Hogan retained/won the world title, getting so angry and threatening to return to the ring and destroy Hulk. at 2, he said it after the bundy match and Elvira replied "If you win, I'll go out with you"

Hey someone else remembers that besides me!

Now, don't bring up concerns about the lack of matches - it could be that the DVD contains a long documentary, or it could be that other matches are in the main program and it also could be likely that they haven't announced all of the matches. Nonetheless, the DVD is scheduled for release later this month. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it is indeed a 2 disc set, then Id assume there were more matches. Besides How can they put the SS 90 cage match with Rude instead of the 89 SS match thats a million times better. And putting Mania matches on it may make some of us reluctant to buy it when the WM series is finally coming out on dvd later in the year.

You mean like the original Mankind/Taker feud in 96? anyhow that woudl require Sting to be a heel, which he has never been since he made his name in WCW (I'm not counting the short 99 run cuz he was getting cheered anywaY), but since he would be perceived as an outsider (WCW guy) the fans would probably side with Taker anyhow. However the actual match might suck big time, unless Stign can still bump like a madman. But I am still intrigued. I like when Mania is held in large arenas and stadiums. It really gives it a "big time" feel. Otherwise it feels like just another PPV. I think they could still fill or close to fill big stadiums like Ford Field now, I mean they filled Safeco 2 years ago. If the crowd is as hot as it was in the silverdome it would make for a great time. But of course theres no Hulk-Andre match this time.

cool you can play as Brock? reminds me of when I went back and played nfl 95 which had Bill Goldberg on the Falcolns Defense. I got a lot of sacks with old Berg.

well at the very least NYY is only 3.5 game back in the east right now. so If Boston starts losing more frequently and Yanks can win some games, they may stay in it. It seems as If the WC is out of the question if oakland stays hot (unless the angels fall from first and drop below the yanks somehow), so Beating Boston may be their only option. Hell who knows how the pitching challenged Yanks would even fare in a postseason? But Ill hope for the best. As I have said before, if they somehow manage to actually make the postseason again, Ill be more than happy. The problem is that the offense can't win EVERY game. For once I agree with the ESPN guys. As said on Baseball Tonight this night, The starting lineup has to play every single game, as the bench is rail thin. No wonder the offense stops producing, hell Jorge Posada must feel 100 years old with all the games he has had to catch between regular season and playoffs. What happened to pitching in baseball anyway? There are so few dominant starters anymore. Must be the result of expansion.

How does getting cheated out of your title make you a heel? That promo was indeed really weird. anyhow, good thing I read this thread before so I made sure to see it. It's not often you see a title change on the bshows (infact this is the first ever title change on Velocity IIRC) Technically Nunzio turned heel by cheating no? or will the new FBI be faces? Im confused Perhaps they are turning him heel so he gets to hook the tights or ropes to finish an opponent now that his finisher has been "banned"

well so much for the sweep. Is Randy hurt and not telling anybody? I think he is. Sad when your best pitching performances of the week come from Aaron Small and Shawn Chacon. come on twins beat the sox.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I love that one.

I'm wearing my Bulls #91 Dennis Rodman jersey
Jericholic82 replied to Matt Young's topic in No Holds Barred
Right now I'm wearing an old Yankees tshirt I got at Kmart in 1997 that now is used strictly as pajamas. The only jerseys I own are one home yankee one I got in 01 and a cheap knock off One I got in 1999 that I havent worn since high school (mainly cuz of the fact that it is sweat stained and ols) -
Well he won again. If he can continue to be a solid consistent starter, that would be a great help. 3 games back of both the div and wc now. They need to stay within striking distance at least. winning series is key. whcih they have don e agood job of over the past month or so (save for the ones in anaheim and cleveland) Remember two important series vs Boston in sept, if they are still like 2 or 3 back then, it would be ok. Bout time the sox lost a game, then again they have been playing tampa bay, kansas city, and minnesota the past week (but then again the yankees have struggled against TB and KC) And coming up next for the Yanks, the white sox. YIKES Sweeping this toronto series would seem very important no?

so the logical next question is: if you could time travel, what time would you visit? would it be the past or future?

WOW nuff said PS If Brets music hit during a RAW episode and he came walking down the aisle, I belive the entire IWC would crap their collective pants.

In the past month, three new drum circles have sprouted up in front of Rockstar........ We must stop the hippies!!!! Someone call Eric Cartman fast. It's amazing how much time some people have on their hands eh?

OAO SD thread for 8/4/05, blah, blah, blah...
Jericholic82 replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Well AT least Tazz and Cole tried to put over the fact that Eddie doesnt care about the kid, he is trying to Punish Rey cuz he cant beat him. And as I have said before, Dom as Eddies son is all well and good except for the fact that.... HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE REY! (but of course according to WWE Rey never took off his mask before) and why were the announcers asking why Orton attacked Taker DUH!!!!!! Hell he had just RKOD Taker and cost him a previous match vs JBL last month when he was drafted to SD, plus he had an in ring promo th e next week already explaining his motives and saying he was going to continue to be a thorn in Takers side. ( are we suppose dto have that short a memory?) I have a new problem with the socalled "mole", Tazz cracking jokes about it and the way it has been presented, it seems like WWE is sending the message that if something is wrong with you physically and you aren't "beautiful" , you are worthless and less than human, as well as a "bad guy". Great message for the kids huh? Actually I thought to myself, maybe it will be revealed that the mole is indeed fake and that Melina forced Jillian to put on makeup so as not to steal her spotlight(since MNM is clearly being used to push Melina and not the actual wrestlers Nitro and Mercury) . Of course WWE creative isnt exactly keen on logical ideas. though I will admit cracking a smile and laughs when Tazz went off on a tangent using several different Italian food names to describe what the "growth" looked like -
London does one of the most beautiful SSP's I have ever seen. Too bad for him. I understand they dont want injuries and lawsuits but this sounds really lame.

One note, about the new RAW mag (with HBK kicking Hogan on the cover). In the article about past summers' big feuds, they blacked out the block WWF logo on the turnbuckles in pics of Hogan/Quake (90), Luger/Yoko (93) and Hart/Austin (97). WHY? The odd thing is later in the mag in the "fantasy match" (Hogan vs John Cena) section they show a shot of Hogan dropping the leg on quake (I guess from Summerslam 90) and the logoon the buckles , unchanged. What is going on? Someone goofed? HMMMMM For a min, I was thinking that they woudl ahve to start blurring the old logo too. A funny side note, while showing pics of the Zeus/Hogan feud, they show an old PPV ad/poster adverstising the SS 89 main event and it lists in small print "WWF Champion Hulk Hogan" OOPS someone goofed again and let that slip by (the print is really small but you can clearly read it.

Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker
Jericholic82 replied to Slickster's topic in The WWE Folder
I was wondering the same thing, as it would be a followup to the rumble casket match and show the "evolution" of the character and "look". (changed from grey to purple gloves and boots) I think the mcmahon match is on there to setup the transistion from Biker Taker back to the "deadman" gimmick. I really dont care for the lack of mean mark matches, but no debut match is a crime. And yes I will a mit to being a bit scared of Taker back then, but I got over that quick. I also got pissed when Hogan got cheated of the belt (despite never being a huge hulkamaniac) . Of course as soon as he turned Face, I liked Taker (ah the mark days!) -
Mantaur with HHH wasnt in the KOTR issue, I know this cuz I have been a wwf/e/sd magazine subscriber since 1992 (and got one to RAW when the mags split, even though they suck I still continue to collect the mags) . and the KOR issue I did not get cuz I had moved and it took some time for the post office to get it right. so I am missing that issue (and the free cards that came in it for subscribers only-I have all the rest of them though save for that issue and the one before it that had diesel and sahwn on the cover) Brets son did have acolumn, at first it was a split column with Stephanie Wiand (shortlived cohost of WWF mania) called "for women and kids only" then when she left (not too long after) they changed it to for kids only. His columns were pretty funny, considering that even he didnt break kayfabe (maybe Bret lied to him about wrestling? lol) As I said before I like when they put the postyers in the mags now cuz they usually come in plastic packaging that keeps the mags from getting messed up (as has often happened to me this year- I have had to get several mags replaced cuz of the sorting machines mutilating them and other shenanigans) I have mags dating back to 95 (sadly my 1991-1994 collection, which also had many PWI and even some WCW magazines from the early 90s in it, got ruined in storage)
