We normal folks out here know that there's a goodly amount of jobs that we have to get drug tested for. And I'm sure there's a few of us that have gotten nailed by a 'false positive' for, say, eating a poppy seed bagel within a day or so of the test. Now the fact that Betancourt's bringing up an appeal possibility and that he's on the DL brings up (what I think) is an interesting question: Is there anything that a ballplayer might take during a stint with a minor injury or while on the DL, or just coming off an injury, that could set up a false flag on a test? While I'm not knocking the commish's drug-testing plan, we all know it's not perfect. Also, I have not seen anything in any of these 'public broadcasts' of any suspensions that has stated what the player(s) tested positive for... To me, that's not the "full public disclosure" I was expecting from the policy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So the poppy seed thing is true then? Yea MTV did a test on that once but I have never heard of any one who gut busted for that. Then again I have never eaten a poppy seed bagel so I guess it dqs me. But you bring up a good point, what exactly did he test + for and what could falsely bring that out if possible.

The One and Only Buffy & Angel Thread
Jericholic82 replied to The Dames's topic in Television & Film
Just wondering, since Angel had connors memory erased and put with another family and everyone else didnt rememebr him, then what exactly did they remember? Didn't wes wake up and think "hey where did that scar on my neck come from?" and say "hey wheres my glasses ? and immediatley shave? I will give credit though, cuz in early season 5 wes' voice is much higher and happier and he seems a bit nerdy again but still is badass. -
I shoudl mention that I did get this dvd the same day I got the ecw ONS one. I have watched all the profiles, but only all the extras of the first disc and the flair vs youngblood match on the second disc. Pretty good features, except for Salughters one that jumps forward and backward in time when talking about his career. (they talk about his last awa run in the late 80s, then jump back to his second wwf run in 84). Alot of the profiles were just recycled confidential pieces (infact all of ARns one was all from one episdoe of confidential) Hogans was mostly from his dvd and Flairs as well (many confidential pieces). One question, why would they talk about slaughters bootcamp match with Shiek in the profile, then put a different match on the extras? (it was infact the match from the month prior to that match, that infact set up the bootcamp) The best match so far IMO was the Valentine vs Santana lumberjack.

That would have been the single worst match/angle ever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> if Mick Foley was telling the truth in his book, then we would have had Leon Spinks vs Taz in 1996. Now that would have been awful.

I missed the marathon for the first time in years. I always enjoyed the show, and as I got older, enjoy the social messages and orals of the stories that Serling was trying to get across. A good example is the "eye of the beholder" with the women bandaged up on her haead getting lots of surgery to look "normal" and at the end she takes off hsi bandage and she looks fine, but the doctors and people all have weird lookign faces and pig noses. The monster on the planes wing one is great, it used to scare the hell otu of my mom when she was a kid she told me. I also like The Monsters Are Due on Maple street. lots of great choices, hard to pick one.

Thats why they turned Orton face cuz of one show. anyhow the funny part of Summerslam was that it was in Edges hometown of Toronto, and he still got booed out of the building.

Yep that was in 9/01 for the WCW title. Actually, after the match didn't Christian turn on Edge IIRC?

Brock's one problem is that he was given a push immediately, before he was ready. He wa sthrust into the spotlight and pushed down the fans throats too soon (which made the fans reluctant to take to him at first), he was given the undisputed title within 4 months of his WWE debut. A lot of pressure came with that, and also allowed his ego to grow to massive sizes. He improved over time and when he left, he was THE HEEL of WWE(not just SD), no matter what HHH had to say. SD suffered alot when he left (hell you can also credit Brock for JBL's out of nowhere push). His mic skills had dramatically improved and had a heel charisma unusual for such a big man (along the lines of a Vader). If he comes back, and vince wants him, so be it. If he is seriosu about this and not just doing it cuz he has nothing else to do, then I think he will regain his form and rise back to the top. Hey at least itll be someone else besides Trips right?

Also remember that a percentage of the audience, perhaps a large percentage are ones who became fans during the attitude era of 98/99 (sure alot jumped off the bandwagon, but there are alot still on who became diehards), during which Gunn Was higly popular and spotlighted, as was Holly(back in 99). I have seen it live as well, at a SD taping in 8/01 Both Gunn (heat match vs Rhyno and Holly (in a tag match with crash) were hugely over and I thought to myself "and the net wonders why they don't can these guys" (of course gunn finally went last year) Don't know if they'll fire Bob, but I would think not, as he probably isn't making that much money and is still over enough to use.

great point

Hogan probably wont be on raw this week so you should dump him. Not sure who I want on my team (I usually wait till monday afternoon to see if any raw matches have been announced)

The thing with putting a match on too many DVDs is, if someone owns a match on DVD and then that same match appears on a DVD they were potentially going to buy, they may not buy that DVD because they already have that match and were hoping to get another match that they do not have already on DVD. So yes, the RR03 match would be welcome to those who don't have either the RR03 or Chris Benoit DVD, but it would not be welcomed by someone who already has either of those like myself. And if you are the WWE, you obviously want to cater to the audience that buys the most DVDs. So that means putting out as many different matches on DVDs as you can so the audience will hopefully keep buying them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree 100 percent , I think the people who buy a Benoit Dvd are going to be the same people who buy an Angle dvd. BTW Angle won the Euro title first on Smackdown from Venis in Feb, then later that month at No Way Out beat Jericho (by holding up the eruo title as Jericho went for the lionsault with the ref knocked down) to become a dual champ. Of course you should also add the segment where Angle appeared at the ECW Arena, now that Angle won't mind and all. and If they can get some footage of the olympics legally then they shoudl add that as well, his gold medal winning match on the DVD would make it a must own alone.

Cereals that taste worse as you get older
Jericholic82 replied to Brett Favre's topic in Food Folder
That doesnt taste the same anymore IMO. I think they must have changed something. -
HBO has The Sopranos (when its on) Curb Your Enthusiasm, Six Feet Under, plus lots of Boxing (and replays ppv fights a week later like mentioned above). Showtime also has boxing but that is about it.

anyone else tired of Matt Hardys whining? I mean these commentaries are so trite and annoying, with stupid catchphrases like "greetings my amigos" and the like. He has a lot of attitude for a career mid-carder and tag team guy.
-
He can teach how to stay employed for over a decade, despite having little to no discernible talent or charsima(save for his "big shot" days in 99)and numerous bad gimmicks being pushed on you, but somehow still be over with the crowd.

Direction for Hassan's Character on SmackDown
Jericholic82 replied to The Mandarin's topic in The WWE Folder
thats sounds right actually and it would make sense, character wise. As for muscle, look no further than Mr. Lesnar. I read somewhere I forget months back an idea of Brock coming back as Hassans bodyguard, doing all his dirty work, but never talking and looking sad/angry sometimes. Eventually it would be revealed that Hassan brought Brock back and owns his contract and therefore him, iafter you build up tension and some sympathy factor, Brock would have enough and destroy Hassan making him a face for the moment anyway. However I doubt this would ever happen. -
I keep meaning to catch this show but alwys forget when its on. from what you descirbed, it sounds great.

Hollywood donating money? well actually they may try something like that as a publicty stunt.

I am assuiming that he did this simply as another FU to the fans, who he belives prejudge him already so why not give them what they want? otherwise he is contradicting his character. either way his chance for upward mobility died when Cena squashed him and clearly will be worsened when Taker squashes him at the Bash.
