Happy Birthday. (I would sing the song, but I might get sued for copyright infringement)

Funny I just saw some snoballs Well a cheap version of them at the store the other day right before I read this topic. Wow I haven't had one of those cakes in a long time. Damn now I want one. However I think a walk to the store with a buck might suffice instead of a gun. Does this mean we'll see a new crime spree of fat kids gone mad when their food is cut off? can you imagine if they closed all the fast food places and took all the junk food off the shelves? and yes I am just being silly.

ECW was at its base, an Indy promotion that seriously overachieved. It started small and grew large enough (through tape trading, word of mouth, and some lousy syndication) to draw a PPV deal and a national tv show. Heyman should be commended for being able to keept it afloat for so long and to have some decent success. I am not so sure about connecting with the whole fanbase, as I myself was still watching all three promotions (as well as any other wrestling I could find), but they did have a loyal following in Philly and along the east coast. Some of the more rabid fans were almost cult-like and as Heyman put it ECW became a counter-culture movement in pro wrestling. But it oddly enough was able to package with that some fine techical wrestling in addition to the mindless garbage. WCW did connect somewhat with the big nWo angle, but blew it away when they felt the heat from the WWF and due to poltics and overspending and large guaranteed contracts. The WWF basically stole the attitude concept from ECW and with it's large supply of cash and was able to market it correctly and draw tons more money, as well as basically brainwash wrestling fans into thinking WCW sucked and the WWF was the only place to be. WCW and WWF raids did hurt ECW as well. Vince can revise history all he wants, but him stealing the Dudleys and Taz at the same time ECW got it's TNN show certainly didn't help the credibility of ECW. But just think, would would have thought in late 93 when Paul was given the reins of a small NWA affiliate promotion, that it would become big enough to warrant numerous discussions, rip off promotions, big dvd sales, and its own reunion PPV.

He did get fired twice. He was gone in early 94 after he got bells palsy for the first time. He came back in 95 (he was at wm 11) I am not sure when he got fired the second time.

Anyone have details on the Jesse thing? Maybe I should google that.

I was just thinking about all the talk of Cena moving back to SD with a trade or Batista going to SD instead. Who's to say Cena can't get drafted back to SD? Vince said everyone was eligible for the draft. He didn't make an exception and say that people who were drafted could not be drafted back, did he? I know that sounds like lazy booking, but this is WWE, and it would be better than a lame trade again. What do you guys and girls think?

Which Best Buy did you go to? I saw it at the one near me for 23.99. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh I didnt see it instore I saw it on their website and figured that would be the price oops. and I'm not shocked they skipped 97 as they probably wanted to conserve time on the dvd and all that really happened in 97 was being in the chicago streetfight at mania, in the 10 man tag at canadian stampede, and winning their 2nd wwf tag title.

Yes, I changed mine like three times already.

Isnt a sno ball those little cakes that are like marshmellow balls with pink coloring on the top?

Great points. I hate how the NY media goes overbaord. But with the payroll its understandable. Sure you can say we should have had pedro, but whos to say hed be doing as well as he is with the mets. He did switch to the NL again facing hitters who have never or hardly faced him (like how clemens got even better by switching leagues). Beltran is doing poorly with the mets isnt he? Vlad and sheff is an interesting thing, but I think Vlad beneifted from going to Anaheim as opposed to NYC whered hed get more critcism and possibly be distracted, as I believe has happened to guys like Pavano and Vasquez last year as well as everyones fav Jeff Weaver. IMO they messed up more by not resigning Lieber and El Duque. If they had signed them both, they would have had no need to waste money on Jaret Wright.

Batman Video Games; Begins discussion, etc here
Jericholic82 replied to AndrewTS's topic in Video Games
I used to own the batman for nes game (thats the only batman game I have ever palyed btw). It was kinda hard. I liekd the wallclimbing ability . I could beat the moth guy, but always seemed to get stuck in the level where you had to go into the sewer I think. sorry haven't played it since I got rid of my nes in 94. (I want it back ) -
Thanks for all the info. I likely will be moving back to the east coast in about 6 months, so It's cool to know some stuff about the indy scene, so I know which shows I should go to

The OAO RAW Thread for June 13th, 2005
Jericholic82 replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
I wouldn't say austin remained outside the box. If you recall, he was duped by Shane Mcmahon in late 98, and then again by Vince in april-June 99 (higher power angle). -

Jericholic82 replied to Angles Broken Fricken Neck's topic in The WWE Folder
Vince succeeded so well in burying wcw in every fans minds and rewriting history, that he would never be able to market wcw. You dont hear too many people clamoring for a wcw reunion ppv do you? (thanks to heyman for that line, aslo from byte this). these same fans forget that while RAW was still featuring The Goon and TL Hopper, WCW was changing the wrestling scene with the nWo angle and becoming massively popular. If not for Austin's rise to fame, WCW may have stayed number one (well I can;t say that for sure considering how badly wcw was being run) -
I couldn't stop laughing when Gramatica hurt himself. That was a game vs The Giants late in 03 season ( it may even have been the last game but I forget). Oddly enough, didn't Gus headbutt tht post vs the giants too?

Really? you guys want to trade sheff too? I'm not sure I like that idea. and was womack that bad at 2b this year that they needed cano? sorry I have only seen about 6 games this year. In hindsight, they should have signed Soriano back (as I thought they were going to) the yanks can really use some middle relief. Sturtze has looked fine untill sunday so I would keep him. Quantrill and stanton aren't really doing that well as far as I can tell so they may be trade bait (but who would want them?) They should just bite the bullet and buy out Giambi's contract. sure they'd lose money, but at least they'd gain a roster spot. You know Houston won't trade Clemens and I highly doubt anyone wants to help out Steinbrenner, so making trades will be difficult. We might have to hope we can claim a decent player or two off waivers in July. Meh I'll still root for my team. even if they do finish in 4th.

Wow, that's kinda shocking. But I was thinking that he might accept the challenge. He probably wants to prove he can win without shaq. I'm not a Laker fan(as a NY native I was hoping he'd go to the knicks) , but this could be interesting.

Depending on your %, if you get to 100% you are banned, but I don't know what your percentage is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, ok I dont have a percent yet. I hadn't noticed that before. Has that been here since the site revamp?

Undertaker (3-disc), HHH (3-disc), Ladder Matches
Jericholic82 replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
They mentioned that in wwf magazine in 98. They said Taker had called himself Kane The Undertaker originally as a tribute. though at survivor series 1990, Dibiase clearly calls him The Undertaker. (the funnier part is when Monsoon I think actually called the tombstone by that name, which was dumb cuz he wasn;t supposed to know anything about the newcomer. that and that version of the piledriver was rarely used and didn't have a name till taker came about, which is part of his legacy to wrestling, as he basically named a move) It would be cool to have that match as an extra as well as some footage of him being called Kane, but what can you do. actually I think it would be cool if WWE put out a best of superstars and challenge dvd set. but that will probably be saved for 24/7. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I think that footage was doctored. I could be wrong, but the live show had Dibase saying Kane The Undertaker. For some reason I remember that and when I saw later footage wondered why it was edited. This is one instance I will admit myabe it's my imagination since it was so long ago. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> really? I saw the show live (my first ppv that I watched) but dont remember if he said kane. I know that I have since seen the coliseum video plus countless other videos that have him saying just the undertaker. Interesting. Does anyone know this for sure? -
Man I should have joined the league. Maybe I can with my other email addy. I have one team right now, which I cleverly named "IWC 4 Life" (wwe.com will probably find a way to dq me for that name huh?) and got a whopping 60 points last night (more than I thought with my calculations last night), and for this week it included Cena, HHH, Jericho, Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Paul London, Nunzio and Funaki (I wanted my team to have some midcarders and jobbers at least). Next week is the ppv, so you all might want to load up some guys who will be on vengeance (notaby hhh and batista, who will get ppv apperance points, match, specialty match, and final match point. Plus if HHH wins hed get 20 extra points)

I'm sorry, but this warrants some discussion
Jericholic82 replied to Dangerous A's topic in The WWE Folder
Austins stale. Ban him from TV. All the WWE had to do was show vignettes of people of different races getting treated in the same way, and then Hassans friends and family getting treated differently. This has been said before. Then Hassan comes out the 1st time, without the stereotypical music and sidekick and says, I am an American and proud to be a membmer of this country, but. . . they should have least given him a chance with that, and see how people reacted. They still would have booed him IMO. -
Yup I remember listening to that clip. great stuff. No wonder why Vince hates us net people.

Well they did do the monday night wars dvd, but that didnt even come close to the ecw one. Thats another thing Heyman gleefully shared on Byte This last week. you should check it out, he was shooting for the whole hour basically, not caring considering his contract is up soon and he figures not to be resigned.
