    The Old School questions thread

the short form is basically one night on RAW in about July/Aug 98, Sable came out and had "backup" in the form of the oddities who came out in tuxedos and luna had on a dress. they started dancing that night and the rest is history. The Jackal(Cyrus) was never again connected to them, and outside of a few appearances of Jack coming out of the ceiling with a podium around him and speaking, and then initially managing the Acolytes (I could swear he called them the "jackolytes" but I might have mistaken that), he dissappeared for good from WWE sometime in october/nov 98. so no they never really explained the oddities face turn. In fact I bet the whole angle was an excuse to bring in ICP, you know Russo

    The Old School questions thread

There wasn't much reason at all. On an episode of RAW, Goldust came on the TitanTron after RVD beat somebody and said RVD's dreams would be shattered and then attacked RVD from behind. Not sure why he attacked RVD- all I know is it led to a pretty damn boring match. actually it lasted a bit longer than that. On th eraw following the rumble, goldust made vague threats to someone who was trying to take his spotlight, it lasted a few weeks untill dust revealed it was RVD he was talking aout. RVD won the NWO match and went on to the ic title at mania and goldust formed a make-shift team with Booker T, which turned them both face eventually.

The New England Patriots had a heel turn this year. I felt like I was watching an old Ric Flair match when they played the Ravens. Any time a team beats one of my teams, if I had no feeling for the opposing team prior to it,I consider it a "heel turn" as well. for me The Pats turned heel in 2004, well cuz of the boston connection and you know what happened that year in baseball. like for example, when The Marlins won the 03 WS by beating the Yanks , it was a heel turn, cuz prior to this I kinda liked them and wanted them to do well in the playoffs that year cuz they always lost (plus I had rooted for them in the 97 ws to beat cleveland who had done a heel turn by beating the yankess in the alds that year) damn that sounds stupid

Terribly inaccurate wrestling predictions you made

ouellete did join Storms team, Storm even "gave" him the hardcore title, but he was gone within a week or 2

well Jericho doesnt actually have any on screen friends right now, so maybe thats why. then again would you really like to see Trips =come ou tto save Chris? I also made the Benoit connection to the choking, if only cuz it involved Jericho. I was waiting for JR to confuse the two again and say "JBL is choking the life out of Benoit"

Your 2007 Sports Wisdom of the Year.

well technically he won 6 games, and the yankees won the wc by 6 games. Then again if he won 2 more games maybe theyd have won the division. but yea the reaction was funny, but I certainly wouldnt get on Susan as much as the local and national media did. I mean yea it was a nice moment, she really overacted on the air. screw it, that was dumb and the Clemens signing didnt amount for much, but then again he didnt really factor into the playoff turnout (the yankees actually won the game he appeared in). Got to love the "he was giving him the business line"
  8. Jericholic82

It's time for the fuckin' playoffs, ladies.

I so want the giants to win more than ever, so they get one last crack at Dallas (I freakin hate Dallas Im sorry its in my genes passed down from my grandpa ) . I dont know if they will though with 3 guys out this week, plus no shockey. Come on G-men. One comment though, Kerry Collins got really old lately I guess. I didnt even recognize him. And to think we got to the superbowl with him as QB.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008

so I went to the RAW house show last night in White Plains, NY. heres my review It was pretty crowded, again TONS of little kids (but these kids were loud and crass, using language I hardly use) I saw a group of 5 to 8 years olds yelling suck it to a bus driver as they crossed the street My seats were good I guess, 6th row ringside, but the chairs are small and the row are tightly packed there (Iguess theyre trying to squeeze as many people as possible) security again had no idea how to handle anything, so my seats were good (infact I was in the same area as wwe sign guy, who actually had people asking for autographs and pics of him) but hard to see when wrestlers entered cuz everyone would stand up, and of course SIGNS (I still dont see the point of signs at a houseshow honestly) anyhow Tony Chimmel (?) came out to announce the show for some odd reason. they did the national anthem and then he brought out William Regal, who welcomed us and said happy new year, and announced the nights big matches) 1. Brian Kendrick def Vladimir Kozlov with a crucifix roll up. Kozlov got huge heat by talking trash about america before the match (though it was hard to here cuz of the lousy sound system at the WCC), though the fans seemed not to know who he was.(makes sense as he was only on tv a year ago briefly) Kendrick was way over, and he even came out to his old theme. The crowd was loudly into him (then again lots of kids so the faces got huge heat). after a non-descript match brian shockingly got the win, and vlad was pissed. Ashley (isnt she smackdown?) came out to address the fans, I have no idea what she said, but she doe shave short hair now. 2. Atlas Debone(?) def Charlie Haas. Haas got a slight recgnition pop and he had on the old WGTT singlet. I dont know who Atlas is but he looks a bit like maven with carlitos hair. But he impressed me with some ring skills. In the end Atlas got the pin to my shock. After the match Ashley congratulated Atlas, hugged him,and walked to the back with him (maybe shes gonna manage him now?) 3. Royal Rumble Qualifier: Snitsky def Drew McIntyre after the pumphandle slam. For reasons beyond me, the crowd was kinda into Snitsky (despite the lask of him punting a doll into the crowd) as a face even though he still played heel along with Drew. I tried to get a "baby killer" and "its not your fault" chant going but no one seemed to remember. Kinda a long match for snitsky as opposed to his reg tv appearances. 4. Nick Nemeth, (lookng like Billy Gunn these days) Def Super Crazy by rope assisted pin. Super Crazy was way over as well. He did some of his fancy stuff but this was a mis-match of styles so it didnt help much. In the end crazys rollup got reversed and Nick held the ropes for the upset. 5. Beth Phoenix Def Maria after the fisherman buster to Retain the Womens Title. Match sucked of course, Beth looks huge in person. She manhandled poor Maria who only got in token jobber offense before getting caught in midair and powerslammed. Match lasted about 5 mins. After the match, Santino Marella came out (to my joy) and lambasted Maria for being a loser. He was interrupted by Trevor Murdoch who told Santino to calm down, hes his partner tonight cuz of the Cade injury and he wants revenge on Cody and Holly. this led to: 6.Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes def Santino Marella and Trevor Murdoch by Hollys Alabama slam on Santino, to retain the World Tag Team Titles. Good, fun tag match which crowd was way into (man this crowd should be at raw every week, where holly and cody are met with silence) Crowd loved Cody too. The heels isolated Holly and then Cody and beat them down for most of the match. Finally Cody got the hot tag to Holly and he cleaned house. After Heel miscommunication Holly hit the Alabama slam on Marella for the win Intermission time, I got a soda and took a leak and it was time for the second half. I couldnt get to my seat cuz people were taking pictures Jillian Hall was introd and came down to apparntly her new theme, sung by herself of course. She had a song for us and before the windows could shatter she was interrupted by Ultimo Dragons music, and out came Rickky Fing Steamboat. Sadly hardly anyone had a clue who he was. He shooed away Jillian and started talking about his role as a wwe agent and helping the younger guys. He introduced DH Smith and put him over. They were then interrupted by JBL, whos in his ring gear. He put down Dh and Ricky, and then even said he was better then DBS and any of the harts. Then he insulted the city by saying hes from NYC and this is just a wannabe Toilet bowl town. this led to: 7. JBL def DH SMith after a Clothesline from Hell. JBL wasnt in his normal ring shape, but he didnt look bad in the ring. Smith looked pretty good, though the smarks in the crowd gave him a nice steroids chant and i started a small wellness policy chant. One guy kept yelling out "wrestling god" Smith hit a sweet missle dropick for a nearfall, went for a powerslam I guess by JBL ducked and hit the Clothesline from hell for the win. After the Match JBL got on the mic again, and said you have just seen the rebirth of a wrestling god, and by the way, you're welcome 8. Triple H def Mr. Kennedy after the pedigree. Kennedy came out to a nice reaction. He motioned up for the mic and of course there was none in the small place, so Chimmel comicly handed him the mic like kennedy would reach for. Ken insulted Chimmel and then Sign Guy (saying youre ugly and you alway wear the same clothes). He did the intro, but stopped when the crowd played sing along, then finally finished it. HHH came out to an Unreal reaction. he did the full intro and even a dx pose with urging from the crowd. Match was pretty good, crowd was way into HHH and hated Kennedy. Kennedy kept stalling outside the ring. so they had a match and stuff. Towards the end, Kennedy missed the Kenton bomb and HHH USED THE KNEE for a two count. He went for the pedigree by kennedy squirmed out. William Regal ran out an dhopped on the apron, but hit Kennedy by mistake and right into the pedigree for the pin of course. (so he beat 2 guys by himself again real orginal right lol) After the match he did a hogan like thing by the doing the scott hall point to every side, whipping the crowd into a frenzy and out side won so he posed on the buckle. Then he got the mic and paid tribute to a local legend in Arnold Skaaland, pointing out his wife in the crowd for a nice applause. He then said "I can't think of anything else to say so youll have to play the music again" He posed some more got out the ring, and slapped hands with all the fans for a good 5 mins. Say what you will but the man's an entertainer and gives his all for the fans. finally after an eternity the main event is on Randy Orton def Jeff Hardy after an RKO to retain the WWE Title. Hardy got a loud pop. Orton got huge heel heat. Hardy attacked orton before he could enter the ring (following up on the Matt Hardy attack on RAW) Match was ok, kinda quick (bu then agian it wa sgetting late and all the stalling in the hhh segment ate up time). Orton of course headlocked Jeff more time then I could count. Jeff took control with his signature offense and a whisper in the wind got a 2 count. Did his corner jump thing, and appeared to hurt his hand so Randy took advantage. Jeff would go for a swanton, but orton bailed. Back in the ring, some chain wrestling, then Jeff went for a Twist of Fate, but Randy reversed it into a SWEET RKO for the pin. After the match Randy prepped to Punt Jeffs head off, but Hardy moved and hit the twist, then A Swanton to get his heat back and posed and stuff with the fans to end the show. If the match is an indicator of the future, the rumble match should be pretty good, given more time (and probably have the same finish to boot) anyhow all in all a fun time, though way too many jobber matches (in which the jobbers were winning oddly) Im sure the rumble will be a better show but I had better seats for this one. outside, a dude was handing out signs advertising a show March 22, at the Yonkers PAL the flyer advertised Sabu vs Sandman as the main event, and also adveritsing Kamala,Teddy Hart, Justin Credible and other . You know I have to check that out

the black sat show was weird to see. Not only did they keep the same intro music but the same video clips of nwa wrestlers. I can understand why people were pissed though. thats like tuning into Raw and seeing TNA matches instead I guess, though clearly the implication is much different now. the new ecw episode was pretty good too. weird to see all this stuff with Woman, since they have erased you know who from memory. that douglas/dreamer vs raven/richards match looked pretty good form the clips. watching all the shorties too, fun stuff. watching the debut of primetime now. who is jack reynolds? Rds cousin? (side note, the new wrestlecrap book of lists just came in the mail today and an dmy quick look at it, its awesome)

dont you love that wwe used THE SAME THEME for almost every match in the lethal lottery? but they kept "family man" for steamboat, yikes! I guess they can use the songs from the wcw albulm only. explaining why they apprantly dubbed in "dont step to ron" over simmons old theme

on the dvd sets, the song from the 91 rumble is also on the 92 one, and on the 94 one. Im pretty sure they just dubbed this over the classic rumble theme cuz on one of the shows-cant remember which now- you can hear about a second of the old song, which oddly enough was not edited on 24/7 when they showed summerslam 89 (which also used that song as an intro video package) and no we still have no raw set here, despite the fact that the system shows we have a bunch (someones a thief, no its not me )

yknow I did get some Rumble tix. even though I was on hold before 10 am, I still only had a chance at the cheapest seats. that bites, I call shenanigans!!! anyhow theyre in the 322 section, which is actually directly across the room from where I sat back in aug. not the best o seats, but still alright, and hey Im going to the freakin Royal Rumble! and this friday I will be at the RAW house show in White Plains, NY. Too bad none of my fellow members here are going. at the rumble, we ought to hold a TSM.com convention outside the arena

How did you find out that wrestling was not "real"?

I guess I had always heard people say it was fake and I saw some pieces on news tv shows that said that, yet I still basically refused to listen to that. by the age of 12 I had a good idea about it, but stayed markish until I guess late 97 when I discovered internet rumor sites thru a friend. by 98 when I got a webtv box and started going to these sites all the time, thats when I finally became a smark I suppose.
