Im glad for Kazs push. It still amazes me to see guys like him and Samoa Joe, who I first saw wrestling in a tiny gym in front of 30 people, in the main events against big name stars. I can see why Joe gets pushed, but its great to see Kaz make a name for himself. (after all he was the one guy who really impressed me at those old indy shows, moreso than joe, who was green at the time and not at all what he is like today)

you know, its still weird that Curt Hennig, from Minnesota, could be a Texas Redneck. but I guess he did love country music so.... Ive said it a thousand times, but when I went to the wcw nitro grill in las vegas, and they were showing bash at the beach 99, when the rap is crap video was played, almost the whole place was singing it in unison. weird thing to witness live. gotta love Brets magic singlet and pants.

no, that was Bischoffs real theme from the time, for some reason they played the nwo music for the match (but that wasnt an edit I dont think) why cant they use goldbergs wcw theme though? (probably cuz they had to cut off buffers voice and they figured we can just use our version of the theme which is non-production) they also cut out buffer lets get ready to rumble bit of course, they skipped from the video package to nash coming out. why was smiley vs prince nakamaki given so much damn time? i mean the fans were getting annoyed with it by 4 mins in, and they only shut up when Norman did the big wiggle. at least saturn vs the cat was a real feud that was going on at the time, instead of just a random match nwo vs finlay/flynn made little sense as you had two heel teams out there (although finlay and flynn would later be part of Jimmy Harts "First Family" stable. the only other theme edit was maybe normans cuz it sounded kinda off, but I cant recall the exact song he wa using at the timem so it might be real. hell they even had the cats real song in there. the show basically sucked. Even the cruiser stuff wasnt as good as youd see back then. weird to think about it, this was just 4 days before Eddies near-fatal car accident. -
conan, leno, letteran, and kimmel are back in jan. hurrah. Im mostly happy for kimmel and conan cant wait to see these two just improvise.

Matches You Wish You Still Had On Tape
Jericholic82 replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in General Wrestling
that sucks dude, thats why I am trying to get started transferring some of that kind of stuff. Hell I once bought a used copy of sur series 90 (cuz it was the first wrestling show I ever really watched and made me a fan) and the vcr ate it after I watched it once (thankfully 24/7 recently hooked dme up with it) I need to finish transferring my commerical vhs tapes actually I got my wm legacy vhs box set to do. I did transfer wm 1, which has all the original themes on it for some reason, even though it was recorded in ep so th epicture isnt so good, but the sound is better than I would expect. -
thats awesome

do you yell "Hey Yo!" when you walk by it? at my high school gradaution, when they played "pomp" a bunch of the senior class guys was yelling "oh yea!!!!! snap into a slim jim" anytime I go into the warehouse at work and see the big ass ladders I think of jeff hardy pulling out the HUGE ASS ladder at wm 2000. My old english teachers name was MS. Kane so alot of the guys who were wrestling fans would tease about it, so when I wore a Kane tshirt to school, she liked it. when they play the wolfpac song for Giambi at Yankee stadium and everyone throws up the "clique" hand signal

In regards to the Rumble, yeah, in retrospect I am so glad I did not get that. I could buy ALL FOUR volumes from Amazon for cheaper than the entire anthology originally was here, but of course I have no need for the fourht volume. I have 98 and 2000-2001 on tape with no real desire to own 99, but I MAY end up getting it if only to have 2000 and 2001 on DVD. The VHS copies I have of Rumble 1998 and 2000 are those SLP recordings released in Canada (not sure if it was like that in the US) AND was purchased from a video store when they figured anyone that was going to rent it already did... long story short, they have tracking issues. However, since 2000 is the only year I REALLY want on DVD (the VHS of 2001 I have was bought in the US and apparently produced in a higher quality - plus it has no logo blurs) I might just try and track down the original WWF version of the RR2000 DVD. Of course if that's a pain the ass maybe I'll bite the bullet and revel in a DVD quality version of the 98 Rumble (I do like Shawn/Taker, and we all loved the actual Rumble match in high school) and the trainwreck that is the 1999 edition of the show. On the topic of Circuit City, I don't know how long you've worked there or if stores have a local system for ordering vs. a company mandated amount of what to order, but back in 2002-2004 when I was always going to Michigan to look for DVDs, this one shopping plaza in Dearborn has a Best Buy on one side of the street and a Circuit City on the other. Best Buy always had lots of WWE DVDs but were sometimes sold out of more popular ones (The Monday Night War comes to mind). Using the MNW example, I asked someone and he knew exactly what I was talking about and said it was a hot seller but more might come in later. Across the street, they barely had a clue what I was talking about and had one of the more limited selection of wrestling DVDs I had seen at a home entertainment and electronics based big box store. I have worked here at cc since august of 06. But since I was there, for the most part all the wwe dvds that came out, came in our store (exception of unforgiven 06 which showed up after no mercy came in). but starting with no mercy, and now cyber sunday we havent gotten in, or world class. it seems to be a recent thing, maybe a shipping problem. now when I lived in socal, my local CC had very few wwe dvds in it. but the one I work at now, has most of the big releases of the past 2 years there. In fact I finally sold our last rumble box set last week to some dude. we got in 4 only orignally, and after i bought one, it took 9 months to get rid of the rest. but we havent got the volumes in at all of yet. sadly, we dont carry tna or any other company.

yea me too, so I recorded it on dvd this morning. this version started at the opening bell so they cut out entrances, but unlike the bret dvd they showed the full-post-match events and end with austin walking to the back to the "austin" chant. but yea at least the audio is right in this one. whens the pick your big one coming on? and what won the poll by the way? 1. Happy Birthday. 2. Probably this or next week... Sunflower never knows but it should be mentioned the week of in WWE.com's weekly schedule. 3. Starrcade 92. thank you and come on Krash, Crush did have a sweet mullet back then, you gotta admit -
Matches You Wish You Still Had On Tape

finished with the last 2 hours of tape transfer. Got the CVC vs Edge and Christian match in full, plus the RAW match with Jericho/Benoit/Spike vs Austin/Dudleys (where Jericho debuted his new tron video with the new countdown and sillehoutte of his pose) but sadly at the time i ran out of tape, so I could only tape a clip of them losing the titles to the Dudleys, but I have pretty much all of their matches as tag champs in full (and some of their singles matches as well) plus a gem of saturn and terri going out on a double date with Malenko a nd some blonde chick. Plus saturn and terri guest hosting on Heat "Watermelons have lips, so they can kiss froggies.....you're welcome" -
I remember having a really hard time watching this back in 2001. Lita sold that attack so well. For a short time, post-WMX7 Austin was a perfect heel. His "10,000 Chairshots of Doom" was always something to watch. The old school STIFF Pedigrees were always fun to watch too. I miss those. Did the Hardy's ever get their heat back after this? well the next night at the smackdown taping, jeff Jardy pinned HHH for the IC title with help from a chairshot by Matt Hardy. But the next RAW, HHH basically squashed Jeff to win the title back cleanly, and focus form the hardys was immediately shifted as after the match kane and undertaker came down to confront the power trip, setting up their backlash match /so I guess yes and no as to the heat back, but remember the hardys and lita did beat HHH/Austin/stephanie in the match prior to the beating, so the score is Hardys-2, HHH/Austin- 1 Make that 3-1 thanks to the armageddon match. (as for one on one Jeff holds a 2-1 advantage, barring any tv matches I forgot. and Jeff has beat both The Rock and HHH in his career so that cant be all bad but dude that was a brutal beating , no wonder no one remembers it, cuz WWE would never show that footage again. I'm surprised TNN allowed that to air

sounds like a good year of dvd releases again. I already pre-ordered survivor series cuz deepdiscount.com had it for like 13.78 with free shipping and no tax,and thats about 3 bucks cheaper then Id get it for at work even w/discount, plus lately the wwe dvds havent been coming in (last week we didnt even have the world class set, nor did we advertise it) I was on the site to look for an old movie to buy for my mom, and after finding that I checked out the wrestling stuff. They even have started with thna dvds, and they have bound for glory 07 for 11.37 or somethin like that. I dont know about the summerslam set, since I already recorded 89, 94, and 97 from 24/7 and have most of the shows on tape. Maybe Ill just wait untill the volumes come out. cuz I bit on the rumble set, and the last volume was completely useless cuz it was 03-07 which I already had the original dvds of.

that nwo stuff is classic "winner of the 1978 Michigan Bob Seger Lookalike contest" those jobers were actually using the old shotgun sat nite/Billy Kidman theme there, gotta love hall and nash playing to the non-existant crowd. while they pipe in crowd noise cool to see footage of Dibiase announced as WWF champ, in actuality if this were boxing , Andre would be allowed to forfeit the title to dibiase if he was no 1 challenger and he refused to fight him happy 25th b-day to me. too bad I'm sick as a dog today

Dusty Rhodes...the only man capable of dragging Flair below a three-star match on a consistent basis. Scott Keith says that's because Dusty insisted on working his own formula, instead of Flair just plugging another guy into his consistently winning formula for a good match. thats not from 85, thats actually starrcade 84 with fraiser as the ref and the money on the line. they did face again in 85, but that was the match with the "dusty finish" where it appeared dusty had won, but the original ref had seen arn anderson interfere and dqed flair on tv the next week -
lol Sabu was using La Parkas future theme there.

Matches You Wish You Still Had On Tape

I just got that off 24/7 a while ago anyhow this thread got me thinking and I went and made a 4 hour comp of the benoit/jericho tag team era. back then I was kinda just taping imprtant parts of the shows, sometimes doing homemade clips of matches by using the pause record button. I got everything from the tag title win through the angle-benoit cage match. I still have about 2 hours on another tape left from the week prior to king of the ring, but I didnt want to stretch the record mode to 6 hours cuz the quality is dropped off enough as it is. but I did additional copies in high quality mode of the tag match vs hhh/austin. tlc 3, and benoit vs austin in calgary (the less remembered RAW match where austin put benoit in the crossface, and mcmahon echoed montreal by demanding the bell be rung, and in edmonton (the better match with the 10 germans spot) also transferred the last nitro to dvd. Now I got the "vertebreaker" song stuck in my head again, and "primetime" the dmx ripoff song. and I forgot about the filithy animals very last song it is catchy as well (but looking back, Rey-what was up with the horns glued to your head?) -

dudes, you need to get 24/7 if it is available to you. I have been enjoying the 1997 raws for a awhile now. just got through with the one where Pillman "prays", owen wins the ic title, and the anvil returns at the end to attack austin. anyhow I had the foresight to record the benoit-jericho vs austin and HHH match when it happened cuz I had a feeling maybe theyd win. so I wound up making a sorta comp tape, with that match, followed by the TLC 3, and a nunch of other matches from that one month period, like both austin-benoit title matches, and even austin vs jericho. its not that great quality (ep mode from a tv/vcr combo, non-stereo model), but glad I have it. I also have most all raw and smackdowns from the end of 2001-present. though for this year I got a dvd recorder so I have the year in dvd form for all 4 weekly shows (RAW,ECW Impact, and Smackdown) wish I hadnt taped over some old nitros from 96 and a few raws from 2000 -
I was listening to the latest wrestlecrap radio podcast, and they pointed out a fact I forgot to hit on. The crowd was completely silent for most of the old timers who came on. sunny got no recognition whatsoever. but then again as they pointed out, the core wwe fanbase that goes to most live events and such are mostly kids-18 years old, so maybe most of them werent around for the early days of raw. anyhow in hindsight , I feel they should have done the show at Hammerstein/Manhatten center, cuz that would have been more appropriate, and the audience would likely be all die-hard long-years fans.

geez, Yoko sounded almost axactly like Rikishi there and the weird part is they didnt even try to explain why Yoko spoke perfect, non-accented english all of a sudden XPW 2002, Kaos and GQ. Money brand themselves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6ylIOLeAn0...feature=related thats just unneccessary, but I was a big Enterprise mark so its cool Rob Black's Friends The N.C. and Sulu, yea thats not stupid and/or offensive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwXmfVPIILg
