WWE General Discussion - December 2007
Jericholic82 replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
The Jericho issue of wwe magazine never came to me in the mail, so I called wwe customer service, and she said it should have been here by last week, I thought they would send a replacement, but she just credited my account another issue. Great now I have to go find it in the stores before its too late. WWE CS sucks apparantly -
Seriously? Now THAT'S funny. Jillian is officially the first heel "crappy egotistical musician" character in wrestling history who really DOES have an album out. Thus she has succeeded where the likes of Double J and Three Count have all failed. That being said, I think she's way over the top with the bad singing gimmick. Yeah, I know she's supposed to suck, but she could at least go for a "Ashlee Simpson unplugged" sort of sucking rather than screeching in the way she does, where it's all too obvious that she's trying to sound as off-key as possible. Anyone else actually look for Jarretts record back in the day? anyhow fun show I guess last night. Although thinking about it, shouldnt they have done this show next month, since its the official anniversary (quick check says raw premiered 1/11/93 so yep it is) and stuff. I suppose they wanted to get it out of the way. So who did you mark out the most for? Sunny, Bastion Booger, Trish, Dibiase, Knuckleball Scwhartz? I was surprised to see Mike Shaw still had the Booger outfit (and actually hes a lot smaller now so it fit him better) and was it just me or was Marty jannetty actually wearing the same tights as when the rockers "won" the tag title 17 years ago? hogan was in black, I guess cuz of the divorce and all enough nostalgia mixed with a little bit of action, made the show pretty fun, if not a bit too long. But tons better than the 10th anniversary show

Evolutions song was on the Volume 6 cd. but thats a sweet deal for all three things I think

well I guess they felt the talk of a "death match" involving Benoit was a bad idea, especially when woman was in his corner -
oh wow I remember watching the IWCCW shows back in the day and I remember the hype for the rude/honky match, then Rude showed up in wcw all of a sudden, that sucks. anyhow good memories of indy goodness. This was the first fed I ever saw the Tasmaniac and Tommy Dreamer in. thanks for the video dude they were using the same music as world class (or at least what 24/7 uses for wccw shows).

How much money do you waste each month on WWE dvds? It seems that you post in here every couple of weeks talking about multiple purchases that you have made. Ever heard of a savings account? only buy when theyre on sale, lol but yea I do have a savings account, thank god for bonds and old saved money you think Im bad, you should see my customers who come in and buy EVERY new release dvd every week, probably spending about 1 grand per month on dvds alone.

1000 Reasons why Late Night with Conan O'Brien
Jericholic82 replied to The Mandarin's topic in Television & Film
so we finally get to see how bad he is at growing a beard as he has always talked about, actually, its not too bad man i hate this strike, we have to miss "The Under-rehearsed, reluctant, Childrens Choir" "worlds fastest baby jesus and menorah" -
that seems to be the debut of Wippleman as Bombs manager too. As you recall Johnny Polo (Raven) was his original manager (before polo started to manage the Quebecers). rare sight of giant gonzalez post face turn.

yep thats what happened, I remember that vividly (and I was such a mark, I became a big BBB fan after that)

great promo I agree. "Were going to retain my-our world tag team belts" he went to say my, but changed to ours in the same breath, great little thing to notice if you pay attention. Eddie guerreros heel turn promo in May 2005 on Smackdown is a forgotten gem. He just gives this quiet spooky promo about rey mysterio, and ends it by saying "Today I have your mask, at Judgment Day, I'll have your life!!" or something to that effect. just a cool, creepy and effective promo. Too bad the fans really didnt want to boo him. Bret and Pipers prematch interview at Wm 8 is another fav of mine Piper: "I remember changing your potty pants, of course he wasnt potty trained untill he was 7, but THATS OKAY"

ironic aint it? anyhow glad to here everyone is okay. now maybe some of them wil die on their own in the years coming so we will have to have 15 or so more "special raw tributes" I keed, I keed. Vince can breathe easily for now, or at least untill they get back from Iraq -
I saw the world calss set at fye today, but they had it for 29.99 so I think ill wait till my cc gets it (likely to cost 19.99 or so) We didnt get Cyber sunday in this week (second straight time the wwe ppv dvd didnt come on time), I saw it at fye and it wa son sale for 19.99 so I said what the hell why wait for three bucks off? In non thread news, I also bought The TNA Year one history dvd, plus a box set called "Harcore Forever" which has both Hardcore Homecoming dvds, plus The Forever Hardcore documentary, all for 20 bucks! (SCORE!!!) Went to Kmart also today, and checked out what wwe dvds were on sale , but I had most all of them already. They had 2 kmart exclusive "tagged classic" box sets on sale for 11 bucks each, one had Unforgiven 02 and 03, and the othe rhad no mercy 02 and 03. well I already have unforgiven and no mercy 02 dvds, but not the other two, but I figured what the hell again, and got the two sets (now I have backup copies I guess, and since unforgiven 02 is a show I attended live, its cool to have backup i suppose, plus the dvd case is in better shape then my old copy)

Yeah, I was pretty upset about it all myself - that was the single most point where I thought (and until this point I had complete faith in the product) that TNA really is just as bad in holding down talent as WWE has/had been. Yeah, the whole Raven/Jarrett super duper mini feud in 05 was a fucking joke. AGAIN, Raven does the job to JJ, when he was pretty damn over as champion. To make it even worse, AGAIN, there is no followup on Raven/Jarrett really after Raven lost in Canada to him. It just made no sense. I think there was some kind of big storyline that was going to unfold over a period of time, but TNA just kind of let the whole thing quietly get tucked away. yea especially when Jackie Gayda had this "big secret" about the canada thing. then she went and got pregnant and the whole angle was dropped, despite Zbyzko and Hebner helping JJ win the title again at slammiversary 06

honestly I would be more interested in grabbing my personal papers (birth certificate, hs dipolma, ss card etc) plus my family home movies and photos, things you CANT replace. at leats with videos there is always some tape traders out there

agreed. I also love when someone aks me to explain the differences betweeen Blu-ray and HD I wish I got that question, unfortunately I'm still telling people the differences between full and widescreen. In fact I was so sick of explaining it night after night that I printed off a screen that shows the difference, and even after looking at it I still get. "Well if full screen cuts the picture then how come I still have the black bars that cuts off the top and bottom when I watch widescreen?" Jesus people are stupid. oh no, I get that question too at least 3 times a day. then I get "how come this dvd is only in widescreen/fullscreen" some people think fullscreen is the "black bars" thing I try to use the term letterbox but they have no clue. then if a movie doesnt say widescreen or fullscreen on the cover they dont know how to look for it on the back. I tell them "if it says original theatrical aspect ratio that means widescreen" or "1:33:1 = full screen, any other numbers equals widescreen" damn now im getting pissed off on my day off

WWE must own the theme or something. His music used in WCW/WWE was never duplicated on commercial DVD releases (I believe) or video games either, so that may have had something to do with it. All in all though, I like his theme in TNA - its close to the original. it was on some dvds and most of the video games, but wwe did not produce it so they cant own it, its stock production music (it was even used on an old episode of kids in the hall) I guess it doesnt matter

actually the part about going into the black can be a misnomer, especially when you think about the sale prices on big items, those steep discounts do nothing for the store profit, they actually lose on that. its more volume than dollars. anyhow I worked BF last week 4 am - 7pm at Circuit City. Not fun. Though my boss did a good job of controlling the sitaution, by A. handing out vouchers for the cheap laptops, and B limiting the number of customers in the store at any given time to about 600, citing the "fire code" first off I took a cab there and the driver had the nerve to ask about the sales I did arrive in time to see a fight break out when someone tries to cut the line (some waited from as easrly as 6 pm the night before) the doors opened, some walked in , most ran in various directions, not knowing where anything was (clearly not our regulars) one of the smaller lcd tvs that was advertised didnt get the shipment so they literally had 1 of it in stock, that caused some fun. my first 5 hours or so there I worked the cash line ( I mean I literally stood by the line to make sure everyone knew it was the cash line (though a bunch ignored my loud statements and tried to use credit) we had a problem cuz the car elec. depart with the gps line was stretching down one of the cd aisles into my cash line. the line was actually moving slower than the credit line, cuz the price scanner broke early on (damn our equipment from the 1980s era) Some fun? I only had to ring up for maybe 3 hours People waiting in line for hours to buy one cd or movie that wasnt even on sale! I almost strangled a dude cuz he was on line for 2 hours and complaining all the way and he bought spiderman 3 and transformers, neither of which was on sale. just like people buying game consoles that arent on sale ( I tried to explain to some people that consoles dont go on sale they just jave price drops every now and then to no avail) Later on I tried to refill the dvd sale bins (we had like 200 boxes of dvds literally in the back) and was nearly attacked as people were trying to reach into the boxes I was carrying. so I stopped that. some guy came in and said he was at another location and they failed to give him a free ps3 controller with ps3 purchase (which was a deal we had for the day) my boss calmly told him and I quote "Sir, don't take this the wrong way, but how do I know you didn't already get it and are trying to steal one from us?" I got there at 4 and didnt get a break till 12, man I was hungry I love how people come there at like 1 pm and are surprised that all the tvs and computers are gone (as If we are supposed to stock like thousands of them) I HATE BF, but at least I left before closing time

I get a bunch of times where I sent in a reply or question to various wrestling news sites.
-
thats like when people ask me if they can return a game/movie/cd for a refund if they dont like it. or people begging for us to give them the black friday sale price for something a week later , I guess just because they are themself (hey I must take money off the price, its SOME DUDE) of course I cant make price adjustments, I dont work at customer service and im not a manager

you know I like my pizza with not too much sauce. some places overdo it with the sauce in both quantity and taste. but you still got to have some cheese and grease too, if the pizzas not dripping a little bit of oil, its no good, thats my rule and I wonder why I gained some weight back since moving back east

Quick query, why did TNA feel the need to produce a knock off Booker T theme? They couldn't use his real one? I thought it was just production music, so it coudn't cost too much for them to use. I guess they just figured to be cheap and make up a half-asses soundalike theme (though its much better than what WWE used to dub it over with on some dvds)
