well michaels did beat jericho on a fluke rollup. so its not like shawn was clearly made to look better than him. and the crowd seemd to like the finish. it was wrestlemania after all, and the face should always beat the heel clean there i believe. after the match, if jericho had truly hugged shawn and turned face then it would have been looked at differently I think. though I guess the end was meant to push jericho more as a heel as far as no mercy 2001, the crowd response proved that they were not clamoring for a jericho heel turn, in fact that really liked him and wanted him to be the top guy. turning him heel was a bad move IMO but then again since they had mr helmsley coming back soon, I doubt they would let anyone get over as a main face unless your name was rock or austin contrast that to today where the fans clearly wanted a batista turn and they got it. you got to listen to your fans vince, and not just when its a big muscle head guy involved.

great summary there, though I will point out that Farooq came out at the end of the wm 14 match when shammy attacked rock and put him in the ankle lock again, rock screamed for help, but Farrooq just shook his head and left. the next night on Raw,Rock and Farooq had a heated arguemnet in the ring, rock left the ring while henry, kama, and dlo remianed with farooq. farooq said "no no boy not like that get your ass back down here" rock started to walk forward, then shot the yetasnamed peoples eyeborw toward the nation, and they all attacked farrooq, thus his face turn complete. shammy turned heel after breakdown but didnt join vince as yet, he won the vacant ic title in a one night tourney on raw, defeating xpac in the finals, then beat mankind at judgment day in october. sham lost his ss tourney match to rock after "botched" interfernce by bossman (he threw the nightstick supposably to sham but rock caught it-later revealed a s aplan since rock went corporate) the next night on raw, sham was angry, but vince convinced him to join his corporation. owen bascially left after summerslam when he "injured" severns neck in a match after they had a falling out since dan left ownes side during the summerslam lions den match. he basically gave severn a similar tombstone like he did to really hurt austin in 97. owen then claimed he was going to retire, except for that he returned as the blue blazer shortly thereafter, and by december returned to action as himself, no longer allied with dlo or henry.

News from the WWE Quarterly Conference Call . . .
Jericholic82 replied to res37618's topic in The WWE Folder
I think the only reason vince decided to go to Iraq twice is to get major mainstream atention which he constantly craves, and to get mentioned in a positive light (thus we get the self-congratulatory comments from the announcer and countless video packages showing how difficult the trip was-screw you at least youre arent getting blown up or shot at every day) just like the smackdown your vote campaign and countless other things but sadly for vince, the media doesnt give a rats ass what wwe does -
anyone else think Hogan must be pissed at this "brother why didnt those little hulksters buy my dvd more brother?"

Where do the wrestlers buy their clothes?
Jericholic82 replied to Epic Reine's topic in The WWE Folder
lmao speaking of nova, if anyone goes to a raw show anytime soon, you should make a sign that reads "Simon Invented Weight Loss" and I belive HBK seems to be shopping at discount stores with those crappy looking jeans, perhaps Old Navy? Ive seen Jericho like clothes at stores liek hot topic and toxic I was going to buy christian like glasses once, but then thought about having to explain myself to the family at christmas lol -
I have the booker t one and a classic superstars one that came in a two pack for 5 bucks at walmart the booker one is pretty dull but fun to see book back when he gave a damn and would actually try in the ring. plus you get an ebony experience (pre harlem heat) match as well. id say pick them up for that price

The footage spans his entire career, so it's definitely worth having. The video quality is tremendous for some of the older matches. Very good nostalgia value. If you're not into the old school style, you of course won't like it, but if you can appreciate his style and his charisma, then it's a really, really good buy (plus, it's 2 DVDs, whereas most WWE DVDs are 1 DVD). I'd recommend it. not to mention its like the last dvd to not have to blur the scratch logo or take out the wwf refernces. plus it has the hogan-mean gene training skits lol I'd say go for it.

I disagree. I think the austin turn would have workedbetter if he had better faces to work against. remember what happened after maina, hhh sides with austin-and they have a brief feud with the hardyz-hey something new exciting and face sthe fans care about being elevated. jeff even wins the ic belt, ok now something interesting is happening-thenhhh squashes jeff on raw and the power trip begins feuding with- kane and undertaker? lame-oh. I believ this is what caused the ratings slide. wwf had a chance to win over wcw fans who switched to them since wcw went away. but they failed to hold their interest. When jericho and benoit won the tag titles, again they had a chance there. a babyface the fans actually liked and believed in- jericho good challenger till rock came back. if they held off the invasion, austin vs rock at summerslam could have done big business. and in that match I would have had rock lose to austin and austin retain untill mania 18 where he would have dropped it to new face hhh in a match that would have had loads better build than jericho-hhh And as for jericho-rock at no mercy- I loved this match as well, a highly underrated contest with a great buildup than too few remember

oh and also if you can the full card for the august 7th 2001 sd taping at staple center as I seem to forget all the matches

thanks a bunch cawthon!!! I guess Hogan did win the match then (i remembered the knuckles part but I thought flair pinned hogan for some reason) any help with the june i think or maybe july 1992at the westchester county center in white plains , ny that had the main event of warrior-lod vs nasty boys and shango? (other matches included HBK vs tito santana and rick martel vs tatanka) can you post that if you have it? as well as the june 1993 show at the same venue (it had bret hart vs yoko, crush vs doink, bob backlun vs a beverly brother) thanks again

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Jericholic82 replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
well akeem was nicknamed "the african dream" rhodes famous nickname was the american dream. thats a pretty clear jab there, as well as the fact that akeem acted like he was black, not unlike dusty rhodes himself (but to a much more exagreerated degree) -

I actually remember this now. What about the time Kid Rock dropped the F-bomb on Raw? yea and as I recall, usa forgot to edit it out for the west coast feed tape delay. I was shocked at that (bret harts famous worked shoot tirade against vince in march 97 got bleeped here -

That was not a hard show to steal, and that match was not exactly great. His promos against HBK were average, nothing special, watch Austin or Foley do promos from ECW. You can look through their eyes and see how pissed off they are, and how much they want respect. Jericho just comes across as a smart-ass, who then whines about not being taken seriously. really? For some reason I enjoyed wm 19, I finally bought the dvd rceently and rewatched it, and while not wm 17, its a damn good show. IMO (mind you) nothing on the show actively sucked (outside of takers match but even that wasnt as sucky as you might imgaine) and hbk/jericho and angle/lesnar were both motyc hogan-mcmahon was even fairly good for a mcmahon match (and better than vince vs flair ) anyhow poor trish, her thread turned into a pointless stacy keibler thread than a pointless jericho thread, now a pointless wm review thread However I did mark out for Trish telling off and slapping Spaz last monday welcome to WWE Bizarroland, where unless youre a complete skank, youre worthless, mean, jealous, and bitter do you even think anyone outside of hardcore wwe fans has even heard of spaz? if trish did a pictorial it would probably trump sables and chynas by about 2 million. so the ubiquitous "jealousy" comment by JR makes little sense heres hoping trish will beat the living hell out of spaz at a Raw event near you

I loved this match when I first saw it, I still do enjoy it a lot. I thought the psychology of the match (basically two guys who hate each other and cant wait to rip each other limb from limb -ala bret-austin at wm 13) was good. I even thought that the ending of the cage match was good (though it was shocking to see hhh win the blowoff of the feud) since it didnt do anything to hurt austin(hhh basically lucked out and fell on austin for the pin) and it planted future plot seeds (like austin doubting himself that he could win the wwf title back-thus aligning himself with Vince) I initially said moty for this (and I actually voted for it in the year end awards at 411wrestling) Now I still like it and rock-austin from maina a lot. Those are 2 of my fav matches ever I guess, austin-angle isnt too far away(if that match had the unforgiven finish, it would have been moty no doubt)

What the hell happened to HHH's beard?
Jericholic82 replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
Hey I kinda liked the drowing pool version (well I mean the version that was on the forceable entry cd, their live perfomrmance sucked and the singer forgot the words) -
I have the eddie, benoit, foley. and hall dvds Here s a brief review of each Benoits-Great Main Feature on Benoits career, covering a lot of points (good mark out stuff here) Extras are fantastic, getting everything from his early japan days to his ecw to wcw and finally wwf/e classics. Worth noting that it has both his wcw world title and wwe world title wins on it. and the rare Benoit/Regal match Eddies-again great main feature, it will tug at your heart I guarantee it. Extras are very good and interesting. I think you will particulary enjoy the Los Guererros vignettes, as well as his classsic matches with Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, and of course the Brock Lesnar match. Foleys-All matches, hosted and introd by foley. Good collection of stuff here, including Micks 2nd ever match, his debut as a jobber in the wwf against the british bulldogs. The vader match is a fun, stiff brawl. The streetfight may be outshined by many things that have occured since, but it helped to set the standard for harcore matches in the big two (ie a complete ECW ripoff, but in a good way) A lot of nostaliga here, but the 2nd disc is th ebetter one, featuring his cllasic battles with hbk, HHH and Austin, as well as the infamous HIAC. Get used to logo blaring as its in full swing by the 2nd disc, but if that doesnt bother you, you will enjoy the look back at micks carreer (in fact most of the moments and matches shown here were ones that Mick touched on his his books, so its cool to have the video accompanient) Hall of Fame 2004-Tremedous fun here. Lots of nostalgia, I dare anyone not to mark out even at the openeing tribute to all the other member5s. The ceremony is great fun and Booby Heenan in particular steals the show and will have you ROTFL for 20 minutes. The extras are a treat, even if the matches arent the greatest. The rare footage of billy grahams wwf title win, two ic title changes, Great Heenan and Monsoon moments, as well as pete roses wm apperances and the legendary Salughter vs Patterson alley Fught (also with alternate commentary by the two which is funyn and insightful) Fun stuff, and great for nostalgic purposes All in all, I think that you will enjoy these dvds and kudos for getting them all for the lower price as for brocks and reys I cant say much , but Im sure theyre good.

dude I would have spit on their car from the window lol or yelled, If I see any more logo blurring on a dvd, Im going to strangle a panda anyhow, youre right about the logo. OTE was the first ppv where everything was changed to the scratch logo.(if you check the foley dvd, you will see the foley/funk raw match still had the old turnbuckles but everything else had the new logo-guess it took longer than expected for the turnbuckle covers to be imported or somethin) At mania 14, even the mania logo had the old wwf logo on it, everything except for the corner of the screen logo and on the ring aprons and mics.

Has the Undertaker ever put anyone over cleanly?
Jericholic82 replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in General Wrestling
and austin didn't kick taker in the nuts at summerslam 98 did he?,I seem to recall that he crotched him on the turnbuckle as he went for the ropewalk/old school move, as we have seen, besides Jericho vs Edge on Raw last august, crotching someone on the turnbuckle doesnt count as a dq, so its a legal, clean move. and besides it was the stunner that beat him. and as for his first mankind match, technically the mandible claw won the match and the announcers always mentioned that mankind had more wins over taker than anyone, despite the fact that he had only two televised wins over him kotr 96 and summerslam 96 which was a grab the urn stipulation in the boiler room brawl since then-notable mankind/taker matches on TV Buried Alive IYH 1996-Taker beats Mankind in a Buried Alive Match Survivor Series 1996-Taker beats Mankind RAW November/Dec 1996-Taker pins Mankind in a No Holds Barred Match Revenge of The Taker IYH 1997-WWf champion Taker pins Mankind KOTR 1998-Taker pins Mankind in a Hell in A Cell Match Raw July 6, 1998 Taker (dressed as Kane) pins Mankind to become the #1 contender Sunday Night Heat August 1998-Taker pins Mankind -
Has the Undertaker ever put anyone over cleanly?
Jericholic82 replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in General Wrestling
good thing they didnt show that on tv, would have ruined the build for Survivor Series lol actually I might have seen that match. My cousin had a wwf video that was the best of hogan and it had hogan vs shiek(first wwf title), hogan vs andre wm 3, hogan vs savage wm5, hogan vs sarge wm 7, and a hogan vs taker match where hogan was the champ but he beat taker. wonder if thats the match, or maybe they did several matches like that -
It sounds like they meant HHH had not been pinned in a one-fall singles match since 1995. This throws out the SSeries elimination, the NWO01 pinfall, and the JDay 2000 pinfall. However, as you pointed out, HHH was pinned at Backlash 2000. oh, ok thanks anyways, can anyone post the card for my first wwf show. all I know that it was MSG and was late November 1991 (the sat after survivor series but before tuesday in texas, I do believe but I may be mistaken)

I don't mean the old block WWF logos. I mean when announcers say "WWF". The only logo that needs to be blurred is the scratch WWF logo from the Attitude era. what exactly would happen if they didnt blur the logo? will they get immediatley sued again will they have to pay royalties? whats the deal? doesn anyone know the full ramifications of the lawsuit settlement. and what exactly is the new WWF trying to hide? do they think that maybe if logos are blurred wed all forget the WWE company used to be called WWF? stupid, stupid stuff. especially considering how the block letter features the F more prominently imo

Actually I think the reason for his non push is the fact that individual wrestlers dont really "draw" anymore. I would bet that 95 percent of the fans going to a live wwe show are going to see wrestling and not just any one wrestler. Sure an individual guy might sel merchandise and get good pops, but hes not really bringing people to the arena or making people order the ppv. And when it comes to PPV, I doubt that anyone orders one cuz their favorite wrestler is on there. most will order one if it has a good card on paper or has a chance to be good. for example, if your favorite wrestler is John Cena are you going to order No Way Out just to see him wrestle? probably not. Maybe you will cuz hes wrestling Angle he may pull a good match out of cena like he did in the past. I guess my real point is that if WWE is continuing to stay afloat, with not a real financial crisis on their hands, why should they change what has worked and kept the ratings somewhat steady for a few years (plummetting ppv buy rates notwithstanding they may be due to the fact that there are too many ppvs and they are all too damn expensive)? Thats why they refuse to change their ways. However sometimes they do do the right thing as in the case of Batista, they realized they were making a mistake with the orton push and recognized that a new guy was poised for the main event and had the good crowd reaction. Now maybe if they only would have realzied RVDS potential in 01. But it may have more to do with the fact that RVD was an ECW guy and Vince doesnt want guys from other promotions making it to the top without first going thru the "wwe system" so to speak. 1000 posts WOOHOO (does the snoopy dance and toasts his fellow posters I have so many people to thank, first of all I'd like to thank the Academy................(gets played off by the going to commercial music)

a taped SD show always feels, i dont know DRY. its so heavily edited and homogenized that it comes thru your screen and reninds you its taped. and its different than watching an old tape or dvd. something about SD almost puts me to sleep while watching it. It has become almost a chore for me to watch, but I do anyway, I guess out of habit and/or blind loyalty to WWE. though I see Raw on a tape delay here on the west side, it still feels "live" and exciting. maybe its the set and colors for the ring I dont know. and as I said UPN has terible video and sound quality as opposed to Spiketv

How about calling him Billy G? wwf tried this in late 2000 for about 5 mintues, then realized that was too gay so they called him the one billy gunn and what happened to scott hall did I miss something here? as for hammonds big win: why do NASCAR announcers exist. to quote stephen randle at 411mania/wrestling "Allegedly a "celebrity" match, though I've never heard of the guy. Apparently he's a NASCAR announcer. They need people to announce cars going left for three hours?" cant wait for that syxxpac/nash-jarrett/james match itll be like 1995 revisted
