When did WCW hit The Point Of No Return ?
Jericholic82 replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in General Wrestling
Youre not kidding Look at the title history. After Goldberg won it in 98 to finally put a fresh new face on top, He lost it to Nash, who lost it to Hogan (FPOD) who lost it to Flair who lost it to DDP who lost it to Sting who lost it to DDP who lost it to Nash who lost it to Randy Savage who lost it to Hogan who lost it to Sting. then it was vacant and bret and sid wound up winning it aftewards. My point is the same old guys were being pushed to the top fo the card that certainly hurt their chances (WWE better take heed) -
Remember prior to No Mercy 03 when Eddie Guerreo set up Big Show by having him steal a bag of burritos. Tne during his match with Orlando Jordan Show got the runs and had to leave the ring and run to the back? I know it was a storyline, but hey its been done.

You know I have always wondered that. I guess that they dont book a women wrestler who is having it. Especially if they are PMSing lol You know they say if women spend alot of time together they get their period at the same time (MWC did an ep about this years ago- Al Bund"What did they do? Give it to each other?") I wonder if this holds true in the RAW/SD locker rooms?

That is one of the funniest things I have heard in a long time. I can just picture it now.

When did WCW hit The Point Of No Return ?
Jericholic82 replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in General Wrestling
Sadly I hung around to the very end. They had some glimmers of hope, like the Natural Born Thrillers, the cruiserweights, the CW tag titles. I just couldnt bring myself to stop watching -
and thinking about it. How was Hogan ever able to turn face again after the nWo? I mean when he joined at BATB he in kayfabe pretty much said he never cared about the fans he did it all for the money and fame. And when he came to WCW the fans never really took to him and lots were starting to boo, and his ego couldnt take it so he hooked up with Hall and nash (who hated WCW cuz they were mistreated there years ago) to destroy the WCW. That was basically the whole storyline of the nWo, but they kept on adding members which ruined it.

oh yea I remember those bogus tyson reports one fan said that austin and tyson went into his video store and told the guy that tyson was the higher power I wish it would have been Jake Roberts though I thought it was Goldberg. He hadn't been on WCW TV for a few months and they had "jobbed" him to Bret in that cool armor thing a la A Fist Full of Dollars, so going on the logic that Bret beating him meant that he was leaving, I thought he could be the Higher Power. I had just gotten internet access six months before, so I knew nothing of wrestling websites and I couldn't dispel the theory. I really thought it was true when Austin started yelling "You son of a bitch!" at the end of that Raw when the HP revealed himself only to Austin. Actually Austins reaction to the unmasking made me pretty much know it was Vince. Someone online said that as well. The dumb thing was when he revealed to the world the next week, he said "Its me Austin Its me austin it was me all along Austin" uh duh he knew that already remember how on Nitro that night before the unveiling Bischoff mentioned that the HP's initials were "VKM" actually the whole thing was kinda weird as they did this angle just mere days after Owen died(2 days later they did the raw taping where the power revealed himself to austin). I guess in hindsight it made sense as Vince was mad that Rock lost to Austin so he had to go in cahoots with Taker to set up a plot to take the WWF title away from Steve . although I guess its inferred that in KAYFABE Taker was against vince in the beginning but after mania shane and vince made a truce with Taker and hatched the plot. but the problem is that Taker was talking about his HP or Greater Power as it was sometimes called, way before mania

I agree 100 percent!!!! The Winner Barry Horowitz was the greatest gimmick ever (he won 1 match in global by like count out or dq or somethin then started calling himself the winner and he came up with the jacket with the hand print on it ) actually he also wore the jacket in his wwf jobbing days later

I second that comment

When did WCW hit The Point Of No Return ?
Jericholic82 replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in General Wrestling
Actually I dont point to any one thing. There were WCW fans and WWF Fans (and of course ECW fans) then there were wrestling Fans who watched it all like myself. I believe that the WWF getting so hot and popular in 98 killed WCW. casual fans started watching more WWF cuz it was the "in thing" at the time. and if you watched mostly WWF you were trained to think that WCW sucked and was minor league. And due to the ratings collapse, Bischoff and others panicked and made bad business decisions, and were not helped by guys like Nash and Hogan having the final say in things. But as I said the WWF trained its fans to hate WCW and you wonder why the Invasion flopped before it started (nothwithstanding the constant jobbing and the parade of midcarders) WCW was the cool thing in 97, but even its best year didnt match what the WWF became by 1999. (wcw never hit 8s and 9s in the ratings did they?) more non fans tuned in to the WWF in 98/99 Basically, IMO mind you, once the WWF got big, WCW was on life support and it finally died in 01 -
Look i didnt mean that austin/love had the most heat of all time. I was just mentioning how I had just watched the match and was surprised at the amount of crowd support for austin throughout the match. hoenstly you can really compare the two cuz they were from different eras. Hogan made the WWF, austin took it out of the dumps in the late 90s. and as much as austin needed mcmahon, mcmahon needed austin. I dont think the crowd would have been that much behind McMahon vs say... Shamrock or Owen Hart(who probably would have been the choice if austin was still out due to the montreal thing) and its just everyones opinions stop getting so negative on each other. I understand that we are all passionate about wrestling and thats why I come to these boards. But lets not fight over every point. we are discussing this issue not arguing it right? Look I made a poorly worded comment that got misconstrued and I apologized for it a couple times already. YIKES there is no right answer here. It is all just a matter of your own personal opinions. and I also wasnt saying that Hogans ooponents were all anti-american. I was saying that was a constant plot point over the years at various points. Mcmahon came up with the Hogan formula for a world champ. Build up a big (sometimes big fat) heel have him attack Hogan BOOM INSTANT TOP FEUD Then he tried to repeat it with Bret Hart, Diesel,HBK before realizng it didnt work without Hogan and the times had changed as well (which is why we got attitude era-well besides from ripping off ECW).

Full view of Triple H and Orton Blading at NYR
Jericholic82 replied to Shooting Star's topic in The WWE Folder
I was watching the HIAC with taker/kind and when taker misses a tope and hits the cage, he blatantly blades on camera with the dumb cameraman focused on him. another example is wm 7 hogan vs sarge. Sarge hits hogan with chair and hogan rolls over, blading himself quite obviously with a zoomed in view of his bald head. im assuming the cameraman doesnt know when someone is going to blade. shanw did a similar thing at the first HIAC. Taker catapulted him into the outside of the cage after they escaped. Youd have to think he did it in mid air there too. and shawns at wm xx was a great one too cuz he was literally gushing as soon as he hit the post. someone has respect in his craft here and that someone isnt named Paul Levesque -
uh-huh

geez you guys these are just harmless fun, why are you all fighting and freaking out here . although after seeing both commercials in excess of 5 times already im sick of them, hope there ar emore so we dont get this every week (like the same chris masters promo being run every week). and whats up with all the hollywood crap? wm is in downtown LA not hollywood right? trust me I have been to the staples center a couple of times, its not HW. In fact it looks rather ghettoish if you look down the street, which is cool with me since I am orignally from the mean streets of Yonkers,NY) the whole point of this is, enough with the HW crap its Wrestlemania, theyve already done 4 wms in the LA/anaheim area and hardly ever mentioned that (except for the goldust piper holly wood backlot brawl) maybe Im just bitter I ddint buy a ticket for the show? Then again its better off spending 50 bucks on a ppv then a couple of humdred for nosebleed seats.

thats obviously cena, he has the baggy shorts and sneakers and everything. hoever why does he have those elbow pads? cena doesnt wear that. He usually has on those little word life arm bands or somethin
-
Batista I belive was always supposed to be the winner. It makes me sense for him to win. otherwise it makes the whole evolution breakup more complicated. Now he has a title shot and trips is desperate for him not to fight him, however hes smart enough not to brutally beat up batista and kick him out ala orton, hes trying to be sly about it, but Batista seems to be one step ahead of him .
-
I am starting to think it was 100 percent botched. Notice how they dont even show a clip of the finish on RAW or SD? usually they always show a clip. Cena mentioned contreversy but no one announcer mentioned at all what controversy there was. No descriptions or nothing. something went wrong for sure. Im still convinced that this will somehow be edited on the dvd the show did run long mostly due to the JBL promo that should have waited for till sd but they wanted to hype the next ppv on ppv (rumble didnt start until just after 10 pm est), neccesitating bizzarly jumping time intervals . If they didnt hurry up the finish they would have been yanked off the air by the ppv people (which is dumb cuz you order an event that promises to be 3 hours long-what are they worried about cutting into the next show-hello the next show is the rumble replay)

who cares? does JBL need an image consultant anyway? Hes over as a heel enough to not need a girl at ringside. hes already got the freakin tag champs and OJ Im surprised that you didnt narrow it down to 15 people lol

I remember his match against Flamingo. this is the won where he wins right? that shocked me as Robbie was just a newcomer. I thought he was just another jobber. Then he actually beats a former lightweight champ in scotty. I was greatly surprised, and became somewhat of a mini Robbie V fan till he dissapeared. Funny thing is, when I finally got/started watching ecw tv in early 96, I didnt recognize RVD as the guy from WCW. Which should be a shock to you all cuz I remember pretty much everything about wrestling (then again it took me 5 months to realize goldust was dustin rhodes so....) walmart has it for 15 bucks? im there dude. my sister works in their automotive tire etc center I should call her right now and tell her to look for it. however she never could find the ecw dvd there (probably was sold out for a long time) but they did have the benoit and eddie ones so............. peace out Ive got to go get a dvd

ever notice how alot of male fans obsess over female wrestlers/"divas" more than anyone else? I think its our fandom that makes them so appealing. personally I could care less, cuz Im not wasting any of my money on a Playboy mag cuz a "diva" is in it . Im not that perverted and I need my money for better things, like buying all the freakin dvds wwe keeps coming out with lol. Like someone said earlier if you want you can find free porn as opposed to playing for it lol. Anyhow, christy was on the man show too? How did I not recognize that? I watched every episode of that show? dang
-
interesting...... however hogan just needed generic foreign or big fat heels to beat. I guess we have a winner Hogan in a landslide although wrestling in the 80s was different, all they needed to do was put a guy vs hogan and the fans would have their reason to hate that guy however i think roddy piper doesnt get enough credit with the success of the first wrestlemania sure most of hogans 80s feud were against generic heels, but his feuds with piper, orndorff, and savage made him in the 80s
-
AHA someone gets it. Austin needed Mcmahon to be his foil. If bret had stayed austin may have fizzled out without a great heel to play off of, and the evil owner thing was the perfect fit for him
-
lmao at that line great stuff dude anyhow, BUDDY GROOM? whats wrong with the yanks? I dont know much about him except he has a silly name. any info on him?

There actually is a set list of requirements set out by the NFL for a city to host the Super Bowl, chief among them weather conditions. That's why a notion a few years ago to have Super Bowls in Washington DC and New York were laughed out of the boardroom. thats too bad, but then again giants stadium is in New Jersey not NY. If they ever build a new giants or jets park in NYC, it would be a lock for a SB so long as it has a retractable roof/dome. yknow the NFL would love to have the biggest event of its year in the Biggest marjet in the US

Jericholic82 replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
I have 93, I just bought it used a while back, watched it once, the tape messes up a bit for like a minute during the rumble, but otherwise in great shape. Not willing to part with at the moment, but if I ever want to Ill let you know
