Not the only one. If anything I guess it would be just sad if they did, since the average wrestling fan probably can't tell the difference between an 'Arab' and an 'Iraqi'.. As for any sort of distaste in Sarge's old angle.. I say PFFT to that. Does no one remember Col. Debeers??? Or Fritz Von Erich the Nazi? thats what I meant, there have always been racist characterization in wrestling. how about saba simba?

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
Jericholic82 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
I enjoyed that as well. The ending was pretty creep too with the evil laughter from Angellus. I liked how Dave always played anglelus differently from angel. The subtle differences in voice the attitude. H actually learned to act betterw hile on angel i think, cuz by season 4 angellus was badder than ever. ah and the s5 dvd is coming very shortly so hold on theyre actuallyshowing s5 reruns at 8am on tnt every weekday today we had "the cautionary tale of numero cinco" how can you not love an episode featuring ghost luchadores? -
I'm guessing that era you mention has been what...over the last 100+ years? It's not like the 90's, 80's, and 70's etc. were 'just' about music. (Although, I'll admit there were cases of people who it were) So summed up, IMO, nothing's changed. So I don't see where there'd be complaining now. Thank you for that. Music has been about image first for it seems like forever. Great example in history .Look at Elvis Presley. Sure he could sing, but the reason he ever got really popular in the first place was due to his appeal to the ladies. if he didnt have the good looks and the dance moves he may have fallen flat. note this is not a knock on Elvis, as he was a talented singer, and my mom would kill me if I said that lol I would suggest to stop watching MTV (yknow the channel where they go, "music videos? what are those?")

actually the rey mysterio vs chavo gueerero match on heat was pretty damn good as well, better then a few of the matches on the ppv (its included as an extra on the dvd)
-
I agree. I went to that show live so I have a little bias toward it. But after watching the dvd, the show was pretty good. Angle/Benoit was shorter than their usual match but excellent and a hot crowd too, as well as eddie vs edge (the LA crowd was way behind Eddie here trust me) the opener was very good and got the crowd pumped. Jericho and flair had a decent match. RVD vs HHH was good, and hey at least it had a finish(which I called sitting there live after the backstage hhh/flair confrontaion and while flair was running in later-I so yelled heel turn there lol. Trish/molly had a short but fun match. The lowpoints for me were the billy and chuck vs 3MW match and the resulting HLA segment( though the live crowd seemed to enjoy it) the taker/brock match was very good live and just the same on video, but the bad ending left a bad taste. I would have preferred Brock to get the win after some ineterference from heyman or something, thus setting up the HIAC better. Or they should have put hhh vs rvd on last , even with the heel going over at least we would have had a clean finish in the main event.

sarge did look in geat shape on raw!!! anyhow another example is his match with kurt angle on smackdown i think in early 2000. He bumped like a madman there as well and helped to make angle look credible. sarge is not afraid to step into the ring and make someone else look good undertaker are you listening?
-
Wrestlemania 7? Most underrated Mania main event ever. Agree with you on that. Sarge vs Hogan always gets put under the table when talking about WM. It wasn't like the traditional Hogan match. And sarge bumped well throughout it and it had great visuals like Hogan bleeding and in the camel clutch and sarge draping the iraqi falg over hogan which pissed him off enough to hulk up. Sure the angle was a little distasteful, but the crowd ate it up. and WWE doesnt like us to remember history so thats why no mention was made on monday. JR still forgets about austin beating him up in oklahoma.

they actually have it at Target? I have yet to ever see a WWE dvd at my local target. I better go there and check. The target website lists it at 18.76 though. hmmmmm after paying 29.95 for both benoit and foley, I will not let it happen again

Baseball Tonight better not have John Kruk in 2005
Jericholic82 replied to The Czech Republic's topic in Sports
Kruk was an excellent hitter in his heyday. .300 career batting average, along with a .397 career OBP. He was a fun player to watch as well. He retired at 34, and I'm not exactly sure why. It was probably injuries, as he still hit .308 his last year. The fun part about Kruk's career totals is that along with hitting precisely .300, he hit exactly 100 home runs, and played in exactly 1,200 games. That's why its sad to see him turn into such a driviling moron, because he was one of Philly's most beloved players. thanks for the info I didnt remember much about his career cuz I was a little kid then and wasnt totally into baseball until 1993 -

and psychosis didnt lose his mask till about 99 when he lost a hair vs mask match to billy kidman
-
When did Jericho do that? I assume it's Jericho since that's what the picture is titled. Sometime during his heel run in 96/97. He took one of the luchadores masks. I think Psicosis's mask. It was Juventuds mask actually. remember when lenny lane wore that mask and pretended to be jericho and defended the cruiserweight title against deano on thunder? lane does look alot like jericho I met him once at the wwa show in vegas and asked him jokingly to pretend to be jericho and take apic with me. he didnt but he did do the cmon baby arrogant cover pose

That was one of the BEST shows they've ever done. All the title matches were great and the opener was pretty good as well. Everything from the Royal Rumble 2000 up to, and including, Judgment Day 2000 was as good as WWE's ever been. I agree. didnt see it live but I bought the vhs tape months later. just watched it last month and its still excellent also had gerald brisco as hardcore champ classic

Taz once hurt his leg on an ecw apron (he mentioned this in the directors cut of beyond the mat) Damn I guess this means no vince and steph cs hogan and daughter at mania
-
Maybe they are waiting until there is an actual audience before they run month's worth of high quality stuff. I want to see some classic matches too but a lot of this channel's potential appeal is just reliving what you grew up on. That would include things that are deemed "bad" from a smark preference. For instance, there may not be a **** classic at that '92 MSG show but I'd want to watch just to watch Bret Hart's face while he teams with the Bushwackers and to see a Shawn Michaels work his way up the card as a singles wrestler. Not to mention listen to Gorilla Monsoon's commentary which I miss so much. I remember back in the day how much I HATED the Bobby Heenan Show. Even at 16 years old, I wanted to see wrestling matches during that half hour. Now that I'm older and I appreciate the legend that is Bobby Heenan - I'd get a kick out of seeing those shows. I'm more into the concept of watching an entire episode of Georgia Championship Wrestling or WWF Superstars or Challenge rather than Steamboat vs. Savage for the 100th time. Bret worked ok with the whackers if I do recall but I was a young mark at the time so take it for what its worth I remember watching the show later on the msg channel. If they put both that and my first msg show (i think it was 11/91) on I would be happy . some houseshows had some interesting things case in point a june 92 houseshow I went to in white plains ny. the main event had the warrior and the LOD vs the nasty boys and Papa Shango imagine that for a sec. I went up to the front by the enterance and saw the lod before they came thru the curtain then shango came right near me with his smoking skull awesome Hogan and Piper as a team? thats pretty rare

That was a cool looking finisher. Too bad it gets trumped by the vertebreaker which helms can never use again so JR doesnt know the name of any move let alone, edges (he calls everything chrstian does, the unprettier) Hell even his leg submission move has no name anymore (it used to be called The Edgecator on SD) they just call it "that submission move" even hurricanes version of the buff blockbuster goes unamed, its called the overcast at least michael cole came up with names for the moves and stuck with them
-
damn, I was at that 3/23/92 msg show. wish I got 24/7 crap!!!!!!!! it was a good show too if I recall corectly
-
That explains why they didnt use it on the ECW dvd anyhow how many original songs did they even have? they put out 2 cds. wait maybe they can use RVDS theme now on future releases (his walk remake from their first cd-which he used from mid98-2001) or not

Baseball Tonight better not have John Kruk in 2005
Jericholic82 replied to The Czech Republic's topic in Sports
I hate John Kruk!!! (thus I agree with the thread title) Hes whiny and annoying. At least the BDSSP the others would mock him and make fun of his mullet and stuff. and I loved when Tom Arnold made him dress up ast the statue of liberty after the Yanks came back to beat the As in the 01 alds. Kruk seems to hate NY for some reason. As if I care what he says, who is he? Best remembered for nearly getting beaned by Randy Johnson in the 93 allstar game. and he was in the 93 world series big whoop/ can ESPN hire some better commentators please? -
The thing is, Big Show and Taker didn't have backup to JBL's administration. John Cena has the "Chain Gang", so watch out. Best.......... Comment...... Ever......... LMAO
-
and I hope Jericho does a higlight reel and shows Mcmahons slip and slide about 3000 times in slo mo replay on the Jeritron 5000
-
What do you predict will happen with HHH/Batista tonight? I doubt HHH will be stupid enough to beat down batista as he did Orton. (in storyline terms)
