The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

lol. Well besides the black thing, they do resemble each other someway, maybe slightly. that being said, charles gunn would be a good wrestling character if J august learned to wrestle o and spike of course one final note to all other fans. I have found that to me angel is a better hero and main character than buffy ever was. while buffy was constantly complaining about all the responsibilty, angel just did his best for his cause. sure he was conflicted and all, but he tried to put that behind him and fight his hardest. best example is the early season one ep when he turns human. he was willing to give that up (and buffy) just to be able to continue fighting for good and justice. what are the odds on angel getting to be human again as the final moment of the show? of course I am not asking for spoilers here, just wondering what others who have not read spoilers think will happen.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

i was watching the ep at 1 am on tnt (west coast) its from season 2, where angel kidnaps darla and the police thought he killed her husband (an actor set up by W&H) and I was laughing a lot. Gunn's reaction to when wes says something about angel turining evil was priceless "Wait a minute, he turns evil?" the way he said it was funny to me. that and of course angel singing "wang chung" needless to say I almost woke up the neighborhood rotfl ah two more to go, hopefully tonight will be good and btw how come another network didnt pick it up for a new season I dont get it, especially when it still has a lot of viewers compared to some of the other crap on tv (like the swan and who wants to have plastic surgery or whaTever) sucks that I only got into this show throught the current season and tnt repeats the past six months. (didnt get into buffy much till season 6 and fx repeats)

    Konnan to the WWE

The heat between he and Vince goes back to the Max Moon character. I read an interview in WOW magazine about 3 years ago where Konnan said that he came up with the idea while in Japan and vince invested a lot of money into the costume and props. Konnan wound up leaving shortly after the debut of moon. Vince didn't give up on it and put Paul Diamond (Kato from the orient express v2.0) into the costume for awhile. So basically Vince was insulted when a project he invested into was ruined by Konnan. So I hope that explains it more for you guys. and yea eddie was with the FA's he didnt leave wcw till jan 2000 along with benoit, saturn, and malenko. The angle was basically dropped then since only konnan and rey remained with wcw.

    PWI 2004 Wrestling Almanac

I bought the first 2 (96 and 97) but haven't since. I haven't seen one in a store since 97 or I surely would have bought it. I was looking at my 97 one the other day and wondered if they had one out this year. Thanks for the confirmation, I guess I had better start looking lol btw is there any way to order it online or somethin? i bought a pwi issue about a year and a half ago and it had an order form with all the almanacs from 96-2002 (except for 99 for some reason) oh well

sure espn shows the opener but when they win big i miss it (damn california) I think they used Rivera to get him some work as they wont be playing again untill tuesday (dont want him to stiff up) I cant belive giambi is hurt, damn that turf, but seriously they need to start docking his pay if he continues to not earn his money by dhing, I really wish they didnt have to send away nick johnson. can't wait till the red sox series. Fox is showing the opener on the 16th (really early for fox's baseball coverage)

Why Monday for the "flagship" show?

In Ny superstars and challenge came on on fox at Sat and sun at 12:pm I used to watch the cartoons then wait for noon. superstars and challenge usually had different matches taped at the same venue, mostly squashes (but I only got into wrestling by watching survivor series 90 so I started superstars and challenge in early 91) prime time was cool cuz it had heenan and monsoon in the studio, later other hosts like sean mooney mr perfect hillbilly jim,etc and it showed some matches that werent shown on the syndicated shows, mostly house show matches but it was cool. Ric Flair's historic WWF debut interview took place in the studio on primetime (its on the flair dvd) msg network in ny also would show the msg house shows often (including both of the ones i went to) and also showed wwf spotlight I think. i didnt watch raw much early cuz it was on a school night and cuz we only had cable in the living room. i relied on mania to show clips of raw so i could follow along. wcw sat night was THE SHOW until nitro started in sep 95. I enjoyed the wcw show more cuz it had more competitive matches and big angles. also on sunday nights they had wcw main event and also wcw pro was on early sat i think, wcw worldwide came on at like 1 in the morning in NY ah I miss the old days

    Members of the nWo...

oops I forgot about Syxx in the nWo, he was also a member of dx and nwo. Brian Adams joined the regular nWo (before the split into factions) in early 98 and later was in hollywood stevie ray joined in september 98 after losing the tv title to chris jericho (booker t was injured at the time) Horace joined during the hogan-warrior match at havoc by hitting warrior with a chair. later nwo hollywood and b-team yea also didnt mention guys like rhodes elizabeth, patrick, spicolli but I was thinking too fast lol yea wcw was confusing during this era, but I have almost an encyclopedic memory of wrestling in the past decade. I remember insignificant details well. I did have the net in 98 so I knew about warriors signing with wcw as it had been rumored for months. and lets not speak of the dumb smoke in the ring or the trap door that messed up davey boy smiths back and nealy led to his death in 99 (although drugs had a part he got an infection from back surgery) or the dumb hogan sees the warrior in the mirror and so do the announcers and audience but bischoff asks him whos hes talking to. man wrestlecrap did a good piece on this once. Warrior tried to start the One Warrior Nation (oWn-really subtle) he kidnapped disciple (brutus beefcake) on a nitro and then later he was wearing a own vest so I guess he turned on hogan. The match at havoc apparantly was terrible (ive only seen clips) with hogan botching a fireball twice. warrior dissapeared after the nitro after havoc i think.

    American Idol 3

Am I the only person who hates JPL? He had no business winning the wild-card with that terrible elvis impersonation and he has only a decent voice, notheing more and last night he sucked AGAIn. Please america come to your senses. I am starting to think fox is tampering with the votes to keep the ratings high.

    Members of the nWo...

I must correct you (with all respect due). Flair beat bischoff in the match (the night following starrcade 98 when bisch shockingly beat flair with the help of curt hennig) to win the wcw president spot for 90 days (later won it for good by beating hogan at uncensored 99) David first came on tv after the ric flair heart-attack/poisoned angle in the lead up to starrcade. bischoff brought ric's family out to apoligize on the december 17, 1998 edition of nitro (I remember cuz it was my 16th B-day and I have it on tape still ) and faked an apology, but then attacked David and kissed ric's wife. also memorable for rics other son Reid attempting an amateur takedown of Eric (If you remember Flair left wcw for a time in 98 after bisch got mad at him for missing a thunder where they were supposed to reform the horsemen to be with reid at a wrestling tourney). anyhoo, I thinkit was Randy Anderson the late ref who faced bischoff in the hair match (in a revenge for eric "firing" randy after souled out 97--despite randy getting his job back by jj dillon that year, after flair became prez he re-hired randy? ahh thats another logic gap sotry for another day)or maybe it was dave? I can't remember anyways Randy won with the roll of quarters and eric got his head shaved, which lead to his gray haired days, and actually he wasn't seen much on tv after flair took over as prez in march. Now Flair in his first interview as temporary prez in early 99, tried to book a nadicap match at souled out 99 with him against barry windham (who returned to wcw and turned on flair) and curt hennig, but David interjected and begged that her be his dad's partener. at the ppv, the flairs won , but the nwo beat up both afterwards. Now Flair was set to face Hogan at Superbrawl for the world title. The build-up for which included the nwo hijacking flairs limo and leaving him in the middle of nowehere to get beat up by hogan and hall and nash. Promos started appearing on tv with Torrie Wilson (then unnamed) talking to an unknown person off-camera promising that she would be at superbrawl if the mystery person did what he was supposed to do. at the ppv, a masked man attacked ric with a tazer and hogan won the match. afterwards the man unmasked to reveal DAVID FLAIR Torrie came out to do the full reveal and they hugged. SO Dave was nWo briefyl, until flair turned heel after uncensored and became the evil owner type, even handing Dave the vacant US Title, till he was destoryed for it by Chris Benoit in the late summer on Nitro. So there you go. anyways nWo members I remember Hall Nash Hogan Giant (kicked out night after starrcade 96 after he wouldnt give up a world title shot at hogan after winning the world war 3 battle royal, sting vs flair this wasn't) Ted Dibiase(left to manage the steiners in summer 97) Fake Sting Vincent Bischoff Bagwell(faked leaving several times before finally leaving for good in early 99) Rick Rude The only man to be in both DX and the nWo(joined wolfpac with henning then turned back to hollwood with curt) Bubba (injured in 97, returned to find himself kicked out and he repackaged himself as Ray Traylor) Wallstreet savage (FORMED wolfpac with nash) nwo Japan (kensuke sasaki, great muta, and others) Curt Hennig(joined wolfpac but turned against them and konann after he lost his us title match to goldberg at great american bash 98) Scott Steiner Giant again joined by attacking nash during a wolf-pac/hollywood staredown interview in may 98 Bret Hart (kinda after helping hogan beat savage for the title, rejoined the new Russo-led nWo in late december 99 but it didnt go anywhere cuz bret only wrestled once cuz this was after he got hit by berg with the carrer killing kick) Wolfpac Nash (and Hall theoretically till he returned and turned on nash and cost them the tag belt against sting and giant-who had just turned nwo hollywood.) Savage(injured in june 98 and didn't wrestle again till april 99) Konnan Hennig and Rude(see above) Luger Sting(left tv after havoc 98 and didnt come back 99) nWo Hollywood Hogan Bischoff Vincent Disciple Steiner Giant bagwell Scott norton Hennig and Rude Jan. 4, 1999 the fingerpoke of doom creates the new wolfpac Hogan Nash Luger Steiner Bagwell Bischoff and the rest were in the nwo bteam as it were nWo 2000 Bret Hall Nash Jeff Jarrett Steiner nWo Jarrett (they didn't really have a name) Jeff Harris Brothers and that was the end of nWo in WCW nWo-WWF Hogan(turned face at mania 18) Hall (fired in may 02) Nash(blew the quad that ended the nWoo) X-Pac Big Show Ric Flair(turned face again in June 02 after austin walked out) Booker T(kicked out by HBK) HBK July 8, 2002 the last nWo match Nash,X-Pac,Big Show,Benoit, and Eddie Guerreo(not members) vs Booker T, Goldust,RVD,Bubba Ray and Spike Dudley Nash blows his quad but nwo still wins when Hbks interference lets Show pin Booker, shawn cuts a promo warning HHH that he better have a decision at Vengeance ,, but the nWo is ended by Vince the next week and he then introduced the new gm of raw ERIC BISCHOFF Shawn turns Face, HHH joins RAW and turns heel and the rest is history. sorry for rambling but as soon as I started to think, a whole bunch of stuff came out. and forgive any typos as I don't feel like proofreading lol

Locker Room Shocked At Finish To RAW

For a time last fall, I thought that Cena would win the Rumble, especially after his face turn. I figured he and Brock would face off at WM (until we found out Berg didn't sign a new contract). As soon as Benoit was booked first in the Rumble, I figured he'd get the win. BTW, as a side note, can anyone explain to me the diiference between the first adn second entrant in the rumble, they start AT THE SAME TIME< yet they always make a big deal out of number 1. Like in o3 when Jericho badly wanted to duplicate HBK's feat in 95 (despite 95 having 1 minute intervals and lasting only about 30 mins) and was mad when shawn got 1 and he got 2, well 2 is just the same, you have the last the same amount of time. Of course no one has matched vince mcmahons feat of being out of the ring and not being eliminated (something close to an hour in the 99 rumble, with austin not too far behind) and when did I go off topic here? sorry. I guess I should start a topic in the general wrestling or old-school file.

    Favorite mask angle?

as for the hhh/goldust thing, a year prior to that, goldust dressed as hhh to face owen hart in a european title match. it was supposed to be hhh, but then dustin came out (complete with big fake nose) and the two wrestled. Owen won and commisoner slaughter decided that owen won the title by beating dust somehow. so when they did the reverse a year later, it was kinda cool. and ciclope was a real luchadore who wrestled for wcw for a time. dean happened to disguise himself in order to gain revenge on jericho. this reminds me of an angle before the uncensored 98 match with dean v jericho (dean lost and decided to "go home") jericho at the time had just unmasked juvy, so he wore the mask to humilate him further. on a thunder, dean challenged jericho right then to a title match. jericho came out with the mask on, and dean defeated him, but then Dean dedcied to pull of the mask, revealing LENNY LANE. I loved that angle, especially when Lenny kept asking for compensation for his help. then during the slamboree intros, Chris says when intoing lane "give me back my loverboy tape lenny" i thought that was funny for some reason. Lane kinda does look like jericho and when I met him at the wwa ppv in las vegas, he looked a lot like him. the other wrestlers noticed my chris jericho shirt(including disco inferno who had to tell me the story of how he introduced jericho to his wife) and asked lenny to do the arrogant cover pose. I jokingly asked Lane to pose for a phot with me and pretend to be jericho lol anyways back from my tangent, the dean-jericho feud was a brilliant angle that never really had a good blowoff except for special ref dean costing jericho the cw title to juvy at road wild 98. I loved the whole conspiracy victim thing. I made my own conspiracy victim sign and used to carry it around my high school and show it to teachers who gave me a bad grade, no lie.

    Encore presentation of RAW

oh, one more thing, I enjoy the coach and al commentary. They make fun of everything and everyone since they know no one is watching. Al constantly calling every jobber __________ Babaganoosh is pretty funny (though it's grating now) and coach is entertaining as a heel. but heat could be so much more. Use it to showcase the people who don't get on RAW regualry. Instead of jobbers, have the midcarders wrestle each other, with heat-exclusive storylines and feuds. That's kinda like how wcw was trying to book staurday night towards the end
  19. Jericholic82

    Encore presentation of RAW

they overdubbed edges theme on the replay? they did that on raw last night when they showed a clip of last week, yet when edge came out he left to the rob zombie song. huh? maybe rob told them they can now only use it once a show, or the deal is about through and they will have to get a new theme for edge. I think wwe should personally make all their songs again, cuz then they would be on the dvds and video games without a problem. anyways, I thought it was dumb to air heat with recaps, followed by the raw encore. although I guess it coulda enticed viewers. and the reason the encore aired probably was so that people who missed raw could see it or thosedon't watch regularly (or casual fans) would watch it and get hooked by the angles. and please save confidential, I enjoy watching that on saturdays (although this shows I have no social life lol) I even tape it, I have every episode on tape (and the ones I missed I taped on the reruns by luck) except for one last june. lately, it's sucked, except for the classic matches segment and the behind the scenes look at mania they had last week.
  20. I enjoyed the austin/angle encounters just as much as their actual matches (the best being summerslam 01). I remember one not mentioned in this post. it had me in tears of laughter. The night after KOTR 01 I think (I have it on tape somewhere). Austin and Angle in the ring with vince. "Austin: I'm saying, I think you're a jackass Angle: No, I'm a hero. Austin: You're a jackass. Angle: I'm a hero Austin: Jackass Angle: Hero Austin: Jackass Angle: Hero then vince got mad and yelled at them both and they both acting like they were going to fight and then they each hugged vince. remember the creepy bit a couple weekes before when austin hugged vince backstage. The look on Austin's face was bizzare to say the least. and the night of the ecw return/alliance formation, angle is slated to take on Booker T for the WCW title and confronts him backstage "Well yippe-ky-yay muther hubbard"-Angle is priceless.

Kane to compete in the 2004 Oympics?

no I am not selling, I was lamenting all the mags I had that were destroyed by a flood. and the ones I have, no way they're goign to have to pry them and my tape collection out of my hands when I die. "I'm pretty sure I am talking to the water heater behind the burnt-out Shoney's" -"Neil Diamond"Will Ferrel to the the rock as "Bigfoot" on snl April 2002
  22. Jericholic82

Special on The Rock on E!

yea and they even aired footage with the wwf scratch logo in full glory lol vince mcmahon will now sick the world wildlife fund on them. anyways, I taped that special on sunday night, and watched it. It's pretty good i guess, although we've heard most of those stories already on the revealed special from 02 (which they showed clips of on this special) and the vh1 driven episode. funny how they didn't even mention his recent mania appearance(just like when Rock went on Leno the week before mania and only talked about walking tall). also they first said rock hosted snl in march 2001, then the next time they mentioned it (after the break) they changed it to march 2000. morons. anyways, it was funny to see pineapple head rocky maivia. and I was rotfl when rocks friend when he was a kid said when he first met him on the bus "are you a girl or a boy?" ahahahahhahahahahah.

Kane to compete in the 2004 Oympics?

yea, I got the RAW mag in the mail yesterday (Monday). Also, I see that no one has mentioned this: If you look at that Kane article, the first letter of every paragraph is in bold, read all the letters to spell "April Fools" I knew it was a joke as soon as I saw bolded letters in every paragraph, obvious. Then again they still switch between kayfabe and semi-shooting in their mags anyway. This reminds me of 99, when a wrestling website, had a gag for April Fools about Steve Austin signing with WCW. The first letters spelled out April Fools there too. and can you believe that the cover price for RAW mag has gone up to $5.99 US wtf? I remember when WWF magazine cost 2.50 sheesh. Good thing I subscribed to both RAW and SD this year for 19.95 each (well I have been subscribing to wwf/wwe/sd magazine since the February 1992 issue with Ric Flair on the cover-alas sadly my mags from 92-94 were ruined in storage by a flood, also had some early 90s wcw mags and some pwis and inside wrestlings in good shape)

I was in a crappy mood, so I thought I'd watch what I thought could be an interesting bio. I figured it would be a positive look at wrestlers. Instead we got the beginning with Jesse wrestling (apparantly at monday nitro if you look at the crowd and the set) and collapsing in the ring. All the wrestling facts were way off, they had jesse being mad that some wrestler was screwed ala bret hart. when did that happen in the 80s/90s? That was the absolute worst bio ever. 300 POSTS YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA It's about time I joined 2 years ago when the smarks .com still exsisted and this site as such didn't.

    Nash Shoots On WWE

This is funny, coming from a guy who only became a superstar due to being friends with shawn michaels. If he didn't win the title from backlund in 94, he woulda stayed a midcarder and maybe shawn would be the face and he would be the heel in the split up of the tag team. shawn wins the rumble, beats backlund at wm 11 and maybe feuds a little bit with diesel,....well you get the point, I am sorry for going all fantasy booker on you guys there. I am just saying that I don't really give a crap what Kevin Nash has to say about the business today, saty home and go out drinking with hall and make more crappy movies, just stay out of wrestling.
