WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - August 2007
Jericholic82 replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
I watched the nassau show, the snme and summerslam 89 today. Hogans comments about his potion left me sitting then with a bewildered look on my face and my tounge hanging out, my god what the hell was Hogan thinking ot come up with that. same with the cauldron of madness at summerslam with sherri stirring up smoke. It was cool to see the Brainbusters win the tag titles, and funny with Heenan doctoring the footage. The reason why the Busters lost the title so soon, was that they had agreed to jump to wcw (but tully failed a drug test right after and only Arn was welcomed back to WCW) -
I used to love going to IWF/UIWA indy shows at my local boys n girls club in SOCAL. Even though there wasnt a recognizable name on the card (well not yet at the time, but I did see future stars like Samoa Joe, Aaron Jesus Aguilera, Frankie Kazarian, etc), it still was fun. but I agree on the long intermission thing, my favorite moment was a masked Wrestler durin gthe intermission eating a hot dog WITH HIS MASK ON, that was cool, plus another time I actually was waiting on line with some of the wrestlers to use the restroom. And I towered over them and Im only about 5'10 at the most. The only bad thing I can say is the security was lax and I once watched little kids wrestler by the ring and one kid ram his head into the ring post, I think the lack of parental supervision was one of the reasons why they banned wrestling fromthe club in 01 (the other being all the negative publicity of that 12 year old boy who killed the little girl and used the "wrestling defense" one show was pretty bad though it lasted under two hours with intermission and only about 10 wrestlers were actually on the card and they double booked them all.

Hawk also had a brief WCW run in 95 prior to the LOD reunion in 96, feuding with Kurasawa who "broke his arm"

Favorite Crowd Reactions to Face/Heel Turns?
Jericholic82 replied to zappafrank's topic in General Wrestling
Taz turning heel at N2R 95, the crowd was PISSED at him and started chanting Sabu just to piss him off. Great heel turn promo too CM punk joining the New Breed this year, total silence. I love toal silence reactions to turns. -
the new sept issue of wwe mag still has a poster of summerslam with the jackass flag. Honeslty they havent run the promos on tv since benoits death so no surprise to me
-
COUGH****STEROIDS****COUGH honestly what else explains so many guys going down with muscle tears serves him right for stealing Brocks ring entrance jump and pyro
-
Wait, wait Umaga turned face on Raw? I guess Santino getting booed equals a heel turn for him, but I wouldnt call that a full fledged face turn, the crowd there just really seemed to dig Umaga Jeffrey, Jeffrey, couldnt even reach a year with WWE, without trouble, hell Im "celebrating" my one year anniversary at my job, bad news for wwe, probably good news for Matt, as they wont be tempted to keep the hardys in tag matches and he can continue his push on SD

Ok, dude if you get it first give us a review and let us know about the quality. -
I concur

Yea the media might jump on this and try to somehow tie this into Benoit. Like when Jericho was on foxnews, and the lady asked him if Benoit had ever introduced Jericho to Dr Astin ( I mean come on that is a stupid question) Anyhow sad news as per usual. Kronus was always quick for a big man and I was shocked to still see him hitting the 450 when he was much fatter during his XPW days. and by the way Wade forgot to add Big Dick Dudley to the list of deceased wrestlers at Barely Legal (He came out in the main event and tried to chokeslam Tommy Dreamer only to have it reversed) RIP John and Thank You

Mark Henry's "Silverback" Gimmick/Nickname
Jericholic82 replied to zappafrank's topic in The WWE Folder
That's the guy from Tough Enough 4. That's who I thought of whne they called Henry the silverback Either that or call him the "Predator" since he kinda looks like the movie monster with the dreads, an old neighbors kid used to say to me that he looked like predator , so I got the idea. who cares, I mean we all know by Summerslam Henry will be injured again. and shouldnt his 10 year contract have ended already? -
When Was The Last Time You Were Surprised By A Match Finish?
Jericholic82 replied to Chazz's topic in The WWE Folder
Remember Horowitz gimmick in global? he finally won a match by like dq or somethin, and started calling himself "the Winner" and showing the video to the match. Then he got a lightheavyweight (I think) title reign. as for shocks, the most recent I can name is Nitro. but Benoit beaitng MVP at mania was kinda shocking cuz the way it was set up, youd think MVP would win it at hi s first mania -
I was watching the 96 Rumble disc the other day and the sound was horrible. was this the case with the original airing, or did they mess up the audio on the disc? It could have been bad mics on the announcers. nice to see the benoit edits on vengeance but that was a given. I still wonder why Nitro was chosen to win this match when they didnt know Benoit was dead or about to be. Unless they were gonna job him to Benoit on the next scifi episode.
-
Does RAW is Nitro count? (The episode early on in the Invasion, where the main event between Buff Bagwell and Booker T, was announced by Scott Hudson and Arn Anderson) When was it that they lost that ppv stipulation match and Coachman & Al Snow did Raw for a couple of weeks. the match was at unforgiven 2003, so the answer is late Sept 2003, I think it lasted all of 2 weeks.

Yeah, a real trustworthy source. I thought EA's creative exploitation of the XBLA marketplace, slave-driving their developers, refusal of OT pay, removal of their football game competition, cheap/high-profit licensed cash-in titles, *and* the yearly 50/60 dollar Madden roster updates (among likely many, many others) are what helped keep costs normal. They'd sell Godfather on 360 for $100 if they could get away with it, regardless of production costs. I'm shocked they haven't released a $70+ version of Madden, yet. they have, the collectors edition of madden for 360 last year was 69.99 plus tax

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING
Jericholic82 replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
awesome I must have this (not to mention that I can be seen in the front row of two different episodes that first year.) -
yea cuz regular arizona tea uses high fructose corn syrup which is worse then regular sugar. they do have a line of arizona teas that uses pure cane sugar, but it tastes a bit different
-
yea I know its dumb but I can get them for 15 bucks with my discount so Its hard to pass up, despite having 24/7, they take too long to air the shows, like 3-4 months later. I gues I just like collecting the dvds, they do look cool when dispalyed in order

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Jericholic82 replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
in the "bad timing" section of the "poor taste" files. I received the new WWE magazine in the mail last week (as a subscriber I get the new mags like 3 weeks or so before they come out) this one has Rey Mysterio on the cover and talking about his return (interesting, he got a new tatoo, roasary beads and cross around his neck) anyhow in the section where they show "rejected wwe magazine covers" one of them shows "Bummerslam-The Pity Party of the Summer" and shows headshots of various superstars crying, looking upset, Booker among others, and unfortunately Benoits head is there as well. oops, then again they write these mags a month in advance. -
got the ONS dvd. They have replaced the "Famous" song with a generic rock song without lyrics. Thats fine but when they introduce the lumberjacks in the Kane/Henry match, they play it so loud they have to silence the ring announce, I guess the announcers werent talking during the intros so they wanted to make sure no trace of the original song appear. oddly o nthe spanish language track you do hear the intros. weird to see benoit here. they didnt have time to earse him from the dvd I guess. I would think that the vengeance dvd would edit any mention of him (ie the announcing that benoit will not be in the ecw title match due to personal reasons) the show pretty much sucked, save for the ladder match which wasnt even as good as I would have thought. Cena/Khali is surprisingly good, and finish loks pretty cool, except for the replays showing that he didnt fall that far and onto padding
-
my on demand finally started working again and I havent watched much. They did edit out a benoit match? ughh. this sucks were not getting the full proper shows then. I know itsc close to the targedy but its not like you need to do that on 24/7. but I just saw benoit make an appearence in the sabu music video on the new ecw episode on 24/7 cool for the summerslam shows, but arent they releasing a dvd set next year of all the summerslams?

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Jericholic82 replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
Pillman and Russ Haas (Charlies Brother, they were in the minors at the time of his death in 2001) I was just thinking about it, Benoit is now just the second Horseman to die after Pillman. not exactly a feat anyone would want to accomplish Third after Curt Henning Fifth if you want to count Miss Elizabeth and Woman. oops I screwed up, and no I dont count managers as horsemen members except JJ -
WWE General Discussion for June 2007
Jericholic82 replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
you really think theyll throw people out for a benoit shirt? I mean they dont toss out people with the old wwf logo on their shirts then again I guess they would. but hey if the guys sitting in the nosebleed section the cameras will never catch a glimpse of him so it would not be on tv -
