WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

I forget, hell I forgot that even were called something diffreent when they first showed up, I remembered them as Booker T and Stevie Ray from their GWF days as The Ebony Experience. I think the name change came some time in 94, so you may be right MillenniumMan831

The Unreal Story Of Professional Wrestling

Yea it was they called it "BodySlam: The History of Pro Wrestling" I taped it then in 02. They changed the opening and removed the song that was originally used. I remember staying up late to watch the original airing in 98 on a sunday night. I caught the end of it on a and e yesterday. Decent show, nothing too great but ok to watch.
  4. While I don't remember the shattered promises quote, I do remember the interview you're talking about, and it was actually what I had in mind when I said the build up was centered around Diana. yea and the fact that she was 100 percent behind her husband over her brother (basically her "heel turn", remember she was the catalyst for the later DBS/HBK feud in 96) I have never seen the SS 92 match in full, but I did see the IYH match live on ppv (it happened on my 13th b-day , so I got to order it as a present, plus IYH's back then cost only 14.95). I saw it replayed on raw and havent seen it since Man I need to get Brets dvd

Bret Hart To Be Inducted In 2006 HOF

Thank you. I've been saying this since 4 posts ago. Ye my feelings too, especially considering there is no WWE HOF building this is kind of dumb (plus they indcuted Harley Race in 04 depsite him only wrestling in the company for like 2 years, rememmeber they clal it WWE HOF not "Pro Wrestling" HOF)

    Most underrated and overrated pppvs

I agree on backlash 2000, theres not really a "bad match" persay on the show, perhaps the worst match being apa vs bossman/bull. the e and c vs DX match was a good opener and Xpac does a sick blade job at the end. the hardcore 6 way is fun, eddy/essa is another very good match (with fun shenangins with eddy comin out in a tuxedo from the prom)plus you had "the showster" vs angle, and a surpisingly good dudleys vs t and a match that saw Trish finally get his commeuppance and be put thru a table (plus Tests' hilarious comments to the emts like "hey, stop trying to cop a feel you perv") , plus a great Benoit-Jericho match mired only by a a dq finish. rock/HHH was ok but wa smade better by the outside interfernce and austins return and having the wrestlemania ending. Actually this show was what WM 2000 should have been. judgment day 00 is another underrated show where I found everything to be at least good, with a killer rock/HHH iron man ME and a cool jericho-benoit submission match on the undercard. a great six man opener with kishi-too cool vs e and c and angle

    The Old School questions thread

Generic "Public Domain" instrumentals are good for cheap, quick and dirty things thrown together if you have a lack of thought process. And WCW was such a company through the years I think at one point Chris Jericho came out to ESPN Baseball Tonight music! (not the main theme but one of the bridges they use) So its even doubtfull that the WWF originated the piece, usually they copyright everything they do in-house yea that song was his first WCW theme and I used to think it was awesome (still mark out when they use it for ESPN) other good ones were Malenko's and Benoit's (which I heard on Ricki Lake and other talk shows back in the day)

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

You should check this out: http://www.youtube.com/w/Ric-Flair---She-w...rch=ric%20flair I ha dthe mags back then, they were proved to be fake, cuz the pic of flair and liz in a house which was supposed to be "before savage and liz was together" showed a coliseum videotape on the mantle, which came out in mid 91 when svage and liz were back together. they even showed "the real picture of savage and liz" Thanks for this. I remember it now. I have that magazine and the next issue where Savage "proves" that they had been doctored, by like, showing his WWF belt on the mantle in the background or something. Good stuff.

    WWE announces 2006 DVDs

I want these dvds! geez vince keeps taking our money with no shame Im interested to see what will be on the pillman one. as for blurring the austin-vince one will be full of that. I doubt slicks video would make it since they criminally edited "Jive Soul Bro" on the wm set

    Shelton's Mama

    Cool finisher, horrible name

I only heard Heenan call it that when he made fun of Tatanka Yeah, I don't recall it being used too many times, but that's the name they gave it in the WWF Superstars Magazine circa 92 or so. I never really cared for CM Punk's "Welcome to Chicago" either (Butterfly Backbreaker)...or Bam Bam's "Greetings from Asbury Park" for that matter. The Hollycaust was hot, though. I dunno why they stopped using that one. Take a guess

    Most Popular MLB Teams

I have a friend that felt old the first time he saw Willie Randolph in an old timers' game. It's bad enough that there are All-Stars now younger than me. Agreed. Someone above made the comment that the 2005 White Sox were to be discounted because of the poor World Series ratings. I would wonder if the same applies to those A's, one of which finished 11th in the league in attendance. The 1979 Pirates are an interesting bunch. They would be my personal favorite, but I wonder if anyone else is as fond of them. Lot's of memorable players, such as Willie Stargell, Dave Parker, Bert Blyleven and Kent Tekulve. Phil Garner and Dale Berra sat on the bench. '86 Mets get a lot of attention. The Running Redbirds were an interesting bunch, but I've never seen a book written about them. There's regional interest in the '80 Phillies, but anything beyond that? I honestly don't know. Looking at a recent perspective, no other Yankee team in history managed to shake the hated rival moniker quite like the '98 squad. Writers like Daniel Okrent (former SI editor) who grew up hating the Yankees admired their class and dignity. I think it'll stick. After all, most fans still pine for the players of that team. The recent Yankee hatred seemed to surface after they finished winning championships. I thought that was the reason it started, but it seemed more to do with them spending so much money and general dislike of Steinbrenner (and people in general seem to have somewhat of an Anti-NY sports bias epsecially when the team is consistently good, meaniing they get a lot of media coverage, on top of the usual media central that is NY)

There have been worse promos than that. Many were done by the Warrior. True, but I just was saying contender not front-runner

100 things we didn't know this time last year

That Batista would get the WM match (though his reaction was much better than Ortons, we all figured Orton would still get the mania match) That two faces would win the titles at mania and go on to hold them through the begin of 06 at least

    Outlaws talking about Triple H

I used to refer to him at the time as "The One" (Who Sucks) Billy Gunn. his theme song for that period (I've Got it All, on the VOL 5 CD) was just horrid too. Baiscally the same song as "Assman" (same singer too I believe) but with different lyrics.

Mooregasm. Yea thats it, . surprised Tenay didnt call it, but that would have sounded kinda funny I guess. I watched the first hour live that set my tape for 12, didnt realize it was only a half hour show, the way they said it, I thought it was another hour. not a bad show though. good tag title match until the weird finish Christian seemed like he was marking out to announce he was teaming with Sting. As if we didnt know what all the lights and scorpions were about. Nice acting Jackie, now she is a contender for both worst match ever and worst promo ever
