    Boston Public

I miss this show, I also used to watch it before RAW. It pissed me off that it ended out of nowhere and never had a final episode. I think it went on mid-season repeat hiatus and never came back . Wheres the damn dvd already? and what is with Rappaport and failed FOX series. First this and then the war at home which I also enjoyed got canceled after the second season

    Random Thoughts

I got tix for the July 27th Smackdown house show in White Plains, NY The ticket says SD/ECW but I guess by then ECW will be taped at RAW so it must be SD. The local commercials have been advertising an Edge vs Batista match since before ONS so that kind of gave away the result of the ppv.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

NWO dvd came out the week before mania, I belive Adamle took over on ecw the show after wm, or maybe the next week.

    Judgement Day 2004

I still don't get why they gave up On Mordecai so fast, he wasn't that bad in the ring and he had a cool gimmick that had people talking. Eddie's bladejob here was ungodly, I had never seen this show before and man was i surprised how bad that cut was. I enjoyed the tag title match, The Rico and Haas team was fun while it lasted, the entrance alone was priceless, with haas unsure if he should walk on the "runway" they had set up. The gimmick Haas was scared of Rico, but didn't mind Jackie and in time grew to accept Rico, but they prematurely had to drop the titles due to a rico injury IIRC. The Gunn/Holly team worked well it seemed. (I suppose better than Holly with BART Gunn as the New Midnight Express)

    Slamboree 2000

Must be a Cablevision thing, I can't burn PYBO's or Round Tables. I have cablevision and have never had trouble recording to dvd any show anyhow it was fun watching this show 3 weeks back. one question: what song was hogan (in all black attire with the funb on it) using at this point since they edited it off, was he still using "American Made"? yea david flair turning on his dad for the second straight year was stupid, though I founf it funny that he smashed a mini statue of liberty replica over his head. I was getting sad counting all the since deceased wrestlers on this show (Candido, Awesome, Hennig, Brian Adams, Elizabeth) and one more thing-what really bothers me about the Arquette world champ storyline other than the obvious, is that the announcers tried to play it out as it was a set-up with the new blood and arquette all along. -so you're telling me that Jeff Jarrett purposely lost the title to DDP,so Arquette could win it in the tag match, then would screw DDP and give Jeff the title back anyway. Wouldn't it been more efficient to have Arquette just screw ddp in the original title match instead of dropping the title to DDP? It just makes you lose sense of disbelief. Classic Russo I suppose

    October 92 SNME

ok so when did this air, cuz the 24/7 description on my cable on demand section says its 11/14/92, but when you played the video it says october 29, 92. I'm guessing this was taped oct 29 and aired 11/14. the reason I ask is cuz I could swear I remember this show aired in november. I only want to know so I can properly label the dvd I made of it.

Jonathan Coachman leaving WWE for ESPN

I'm happy for him, from what I have seen on him on MSG, he is a good sports reporter. He was never cut out to be a WWE announcer, though I used to enjoy him and AL Snow on heat as the two had a fun chemistry. Plus you gotta love Rock making fun of him, the best bit being the WM 18 promo, where Rock told Coach to say his prayers, coach got down on hus knees and said "What up G?" Rock's reaction was priceless. I liked him as a heel manager type with occasional matches. He was good in the Rumble in 04/05 , hiding from everyone, trying to cheapshot Flair and getting his ass kicked as a result. Good Luck Coach, may you save us from those annoying ESPN anchors

oh crap, how is he doing now?

    History of ECW

I'm pretty sure the 4-1 epsiode is the first ecw show I ever saw, cuz I remember the damian kane-mikey whipwreck match. and with them mentioning this being the debut of ecw nationally it makes sense, as the ecw show was not on in socal before then (not that I remember) infact I wound up finding it by accident, flipping channels.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter - Canadian Stampede

24/7 recently showed the 10 man tag (in march in the legends section cuz it was bret hart month in the hof) They show the full entrances and everything and the whole post-match celebration untill the ppv went black (the pillman dvd cut off about 20 secs or so before the real time). It's crazy to see, even looking back on it. I don't think with all the evil foreigner vs american hero angles they have done throughout time ever got this kind of a reaction.

    American Idol (season 7)

I'm still a bit pissed about Carly being booted while Jason survives on despite wearing out his welcome a month ago. Syesha has been improving lately Ill give her that. This is cooks thing to win unless he gets "daughtreyed" off next week. David A has been grating on my nerves lately, but he gets alot of votes and has talent for sure, but David C is the one contestant whos clearly ready to be a recording artist. the real question is how stupid is it to have them do two songs when the show is an hour long. just let them do one song, longer than usual maybe 2.5 mins or so.

    Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

this reminds me of how i need to go see a conan taping before he leaves NY behind. as far as fallon, good luck to him.. I don't care too much, cuz the only talk show I watch regulary is Kimmel, and Conan during the commercials. but most of the time i work in the morning so I can only tape one show and its kimmels. I need a dual tuning dvr stat. I still don't know how Conan will adapt to the tonight show, I hope they don't tame him too much.

    Beauty And The Geek

so we get rid of Jason the roided geek and now we're down to the final 4. any predictions? I haven't a clue, altough now maybe Joe will get sympathy from his partner being bitchy toward him? and the bigger question: if Leticia wins, will TNA comment on it

Man, Remember That Bomb Ass Time On RAW

yea cuz the night after surseries (when Maven was GM), Flair offered him a spot in evolution if he would not wrestle HHH for the title that night. this era was kinda fun I guess. I thought he had potential as an arrogant heel given his background of winning a spot into wwe on a reality show (he didn't pay his dues and thus became a prick to the other wrestlers) and he had some good mic skills (remember on tough enough he won the "promo" contest in which they had the contestants cut a promo on a random opponent, Maven cut one on Raven, I guess cuz he liked to rhyme)

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

yea the new wwe magazine has the wm dvd ad in it and it says that as well. weird, considering the show wasnt in widescreen (at least not on regular ppv, I don't know about the hd version) The blu-ray info also stated that it was in "1080 I" resolution and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I got the hardys set last week, pretty interesting bios on there, though the match selection is kinda odd, would have liked to seen more of matt's "V1" days on it, and his skits with Shannon and later Crash Holly. We got in like a good 10 or 12 of the hardys set in and I only sold maybe two of them personally and the third was to me so I can't say it is selling well.

King of the Ring tournament to return

I don't care how they do it... I just want it done. I concur, King Santino would be even better than him insulting Jared The Subway guy and then stealing Lawlers sub and eating it.

    Lockdown (4/13/2008)

Had fun at the show. Got there and we parked in the aren alot which only cost 10 bucks! (better then my Rumble experience at MSG which cost upwards of 40) Lots of fans out there and I notice immediately that indeed we are in the Boston area, cuz every other person-literallly- had some sort of Red Sox paraphernalia on. Weird feeling to be around that, made me want to scream and start bashing skulls (just kidding) I gotta admire that kind of loyalty though, especially the dudes with boston tats on their arms. Glad I didn't wear any Yankee or Giants gear cuz those who did were gettting some flack (I was there to enjoy a wrestling show, if I wanted a fight I'd be at the game ) Though I did have my Yankee logo earring on as I typically do. when I got inside, Lethal,Dutt, and Val were taking pics with fans. My friend's son got a pic with them. I coulda got one too , but for some reason, didn't feel like it. The x title belt looked huge up close, though, bigger than the world belt. finally they were to let us in but the dude's scanner wasnt working and he thought are tickets were messed up, but the guy next to him was working. I felt some sort of Boston-NY conspiracy for a sec lol. Everyone ran upstairs to the merch tables. I got A Lockdown shirt (I had to get something, I don't have any TNA shirts so I didn't even wear a wrestling shirt to the show) for 20 bucks, kinda pissed cuz it just has a logo on front and small one on back (which puts the event in "Boston" though technically we were in Lowell ) as opposed to any kind of pictures or card rundown like WWE typically has. SO I ran in the restroom and changed into my new shirt. I was sitting in the third row to the side of the barricade, facing the ring and entrance stage, but down the aisle so my line of sight was not direct to the ring, so I had to slightly turn to see (which is dumb they should have angled the seats or something). Before the show Dixie Carter came out to shake everyone's hand and thank us for coming, which caught me off-guard cuz I was checking my phone. She even joked to me to "stop texting and pay attention" or something like that. most people didnt seem to know who she was, but when informed they crowded around her. Then the new backstage interview girl with th super-bleached blonde hair came out with all the title belts and let fans take pics with them, but I declined, cuz I didn't feel like standing in another line. The arena was pretty nice, if a bit small, but that is good cuz there wasn't a bad seat in the house really. Wish I did get cheaper seats upstairs, cuz of course the people infront and next to me insisted on standing throughout the show despite being 10 feet from the ring or so. Penzer introduced some local dj to get the crowd riled up. They claimed to have backstage passes for "the loudest fans" Nice way to bribe the audience into being loud huh? Then Borash came out to namedrop NYC and the webster hall show to encourage the crowd to be louder. The Yankees sucks and NY sucks chants nearly had me ready to go to war but I sat back and just insulted Borash for being an annoying fool. Though later on I just flat on chanted for the Yanks and The G-Men, as well as for the "914". The show started and the pyro was damn loud. I still can't hear. But the smoke never seemed to clear from that. That's why I hate pyro at indoor wrestling shows. It's hard to say what I thought of the show, cuz being live, you just mark out for the experience and not really pay attention to the match and how good it is (especially with morons standing up the whole show, I paid 125 for this seat after all) The x division match was fun, I tried to get a fallen angel chant going but the crowd seemed clueless around me. Best match: I'd say live, the lethal lockdown, good brutal fun with nice insane highspots thrown in. When Storm broke the bottle, the pieces flew right into us and a piece even bounced off my shoulder, but I didn't catch it like the guy in front of me. The blocked view of the people standing, and the cameramen standing in front of the ring, made almost miss the finish what so much going on. But I did see the gore. Crowd was way into the match and especially for Christian (and I give props for the kid who homemade a Team Cage shirt, and the little kid with a green mohawk and TNA written on the side of his head, though that was a bit strange to see) Worst Match: Obviously Queen of the Cage, though the crowd was way into it (though that may have something to do with how the girls were dressed, and Velvet shaking her ass from the top of the cage) The crowd was way into the show obviously, and my section seemed to have more Angle fans too, but It was nice to see Joe finally win the big one, despite the match coming off as a bit slow at times, and a little bit of a mess. Nice touch for Angle to be in MMA gear though. The MMA style early on had a man yell "we want WRESTLING" It was a good mark out moment for me to see Joe's progression, remembering him as a young rookie in a samoan tag team to now main eventing a huge ppv vs Angle and winning a major title. You should have see the announcers during the show, Tenay looked like he was having a seizure at time commentating and West was sweating near to death. After the show I high-fived the dudes in yankees jerseys and pissed off some locals in the process. Of course I had to scream "Boston Sucks!" as we drove off into the night (for GP of course) I'd have to see it back on tape to get a better opinion but I enjoyed the experience. Worth the 3 hour drive for sure and it was neat to see a new place. Lots of insane high flying jumps and action made for a solid show.

    South Park: Season 12

Matt and Trey to satire Stand and Deliver in 2008 is genius. Can you imagine the amount of people who heads that went over? evrytime I think a crap epsiode is at hand, they pull something out of the blue and get me to laugh. The Patriots jokes obviously got a rise out of me, but mostly cuz of the delivery by Cartman. "I mis-interpreted the rules" Now my new favorite line shall be "How can I reach these KEEDS?" (which reminded me of Ren calling Stimp an "eediot") the best line was Butters' dad telling his son that women are always afraid of penises. so no we go back to MR. GARRISON, can Mr. Hat be far behind? makes sense considering he want from being gay, to a tranny, to a "lesbian" before this. and don't hate on the manbearpig episode, I have been using the "super-serial" line ever since. That plus the end when Cartman craps treasure is pretty funny to me at least anway.

    Beauty And The Geek

these constant plot twists are giving me a headache. and even though Joe has been a jackass, the way they set him up to lose the "cross-dressing" challenge so they can set him up for elimination without having to say why was pretty underhanded.

The "Vent about not having Program X on 24/7" Thread

whats up with cablevision all of a sudden? they have always updated on time for me. good news though since I didnt get the chance to watch wrestlewar yet and its still on my list. The only thing that changed is the primetime was taken off the tv classics section, everything else from last week is still there.

    Let's Talk About...

It was fun while it lasted. Vince being the higher power despite the feud makes a bit of sense in a way. After mania, with Vince (through Rock) losing his title back to his hated enemy Austin, Vince is desperate, so he strikes a deal with Taker to screw Austin, and get Taker the world title. The theme does kick ass though.

TSM Town Hall: The Brand Extension - Six Years Later

    1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how successful has the brand extension been? Why? I'd say a 7. The only reason being is because of its past success not its current success. With ECW added to the mix it's just too much. There was a time when RAW and SD did have their own unique feel and look. So in a sense it was working. Brand-specific ppvs may have hurt it, but I liked that for a time, one brand would go two months without a ppv, giving more time for build, and in absense of a ppv that month, a brand would maybe put on a "supercard" RAW or SD. Plus they could prmote rare cross-brand dream matches. so in all, adding ECW to the mix and having too much cross-brand stuff as of late has ruined it. 2. Has the extension helped to create new stars that wouldn't have had a chance to shine in the old set-up? Is it more effective than having one brand? Yes it has. Do you think Eddie would ever have risen to world champ in the old way? On SD he was one of the few top dogs and got over on his in-ring abilities. The Same with Cena, actually moreso. Cena would have been a midcarder for life under the old ways, if he wasn't on SD. The ability to have 2 shows and add more newcomers helped the product. 3. What has been the biggest success of the split? The biggest failure? Creating new stars has beem the biggest sucess. More revenue came about for WWE. And for awhile they were able to promote cross-band dream matches. The yearly draft has also helped to shuffle the rosters and give guys fresh opponents. The biggest failure is too many championships, and RAW getting all the talent in the draft and being treated as the A show. 4. Have fans come to accept Raw and Smackdown as two separate brands with their own characteristics, or just tv shows with different wrestlers doing the same thing? At one time, there appeared to be some brand loyalty, right now I fear that it's different wrestlers doing the same thing, although Smackdown is a bit different than RAW still. Maybe cuz it's taped. 5. How much longer do you see the brand extension lasting? Do you still think it's a good idea? I can see it lasting for a couple more years honestly. The only way I say it ending is if WWE starts losing money and needs to cut costs, or Vince retires or passes on. I still think it's a good idea in theory and they technically can salvage it wiht some smart booking, but I don't see it happening

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

Man I was hoping for a documnetary style rock dvd as well. At least they could just put a 4th disc filled with all his best promos, it's what he is known for. plus no iron man match vs HHH? that bites.
  25. Jericholic82

    Recording Programs

I try not to record anything at lower than sp (2 hr mode) unless necessary, as with the ppvs and longer house shows. so each nitro and raw would get a seperate dvd, and I'll record say some of the shorties or legends matches at the end of the discs. 1 hour shows like ECW, or TNT, I record in HQ (1 hr mode) I'll record the HOF specials in 1 hr mode, then maybe 1 or 2 of the legend matches in like sp mode) as well as dvds I don't own and don't want to purchase (like the Undertaker one and greatest managers). Dvd recording is better than vhs cuz of the space you save. I have like 350 vhs tapes in total so it gets kind of crampy. with the dvds I can put them in cd binders (I have like 3 cd binders filled with 24/7 stuff) I rationalize that if I record everything, I can make my own comps later on. I doubt I'll watch much of the stuff again outside of the historical moments and such. and yea it's better to get the recent ppv's on dvd cuz the quality is better, plus you don't get the stupid 24/7 watermark as well as the wwe logo onscreen.
