    Lockdown (4/13/2008)

I am, my friend and I will be making the drive into "enemy territory" lol. Actually I have never been to the Boston area (or any of New England for that matter) so it's a first for me. Only problem is driving the 4 hours plus home after the show ends. I sure wish I was closer so I could go to the fanfest on Sat. Anyhow, I decided to go in the hopes of seeing Joe finally take home the gold, considering I used to see Joe live in the socal indies when he was a rookie about 8 years ago or so, so it's cool to see him progress.

I'm going to Local Indy Show (PWS)

I mean "Weak" is subjective, but it wasn't as brutal as you'd expect. one good cane shot to Butcher's lower leg made it all red, but otherwise a lot of stalling. Maybe they were in a hurry? Or they didn't want to get too extreme with so many kids around, and this being their first show here, didn't want to get in trouble with the building people? Or maybe Sandman was that drunk (he seemed in pretty bad shape and his voice sounded terrible) anyhow the website now has results up and reminded me that in the main event, after Evans was eliminated, Moore and Omega actually got the double 10 count on the ground, thus ending the match, but Omega challenged Moore on the mic and Butcher threw him back in the ring to restart the match, but Moore took off right away. also Ruckus turned on his partner Trent Acid cuz of miscommunication, which led to the other team winning. Acid took quite a beating in the match, which led to a standing ovation afterwards, and Hart (one of his opponents) got on the mic to appreciate his effort. sorry I forgot details but I got home late and didn't have much sleep the other night. and yea the guy behind me earned my respect with the tow quote. As well as encouraging the wrestlers to sell, and the ref to learn how to do his job (cuz he at times forgot to count to 5 to break a hold in the ropes, and once let flagrant double teaming go on for like 30 seconds without even attempting to stop it)

    Shawn Michaels as World Champion

so we're using dvd sales to determine if someone should hold a world title? Of course Cena sold so many dvds, the kids were probably on their parents cases to buy it. but topic-wise, I don't see it happening. Sure he could be used well to transition the title to someone new, but I doubt He'd actually do it, or WWE would ever consider him as champ again.

I'm going to Local Indy Show (PWS)

Had a great time, despite our car being stuck and my dad and I had to take a cab over to the PAL. Before the show Sonjay Dutt (despite being the "mystery entrant") came out to sign autographs. They were actually selling WWE and TNA T-shirts and DVDs there. RF video had their own table. Another dude was selling bootleg DVDs of old wcw, ecw, wwe, and other stuff for only 10 bucks a pop, or 3 for 25. I bought the non-bootleg videos had had "Tan Final Resolution 05 and Ultimate Indsiders set with Russo and Ferrara" RF was charging 20 a DVD so I avoided them, cuz they didn’t have too much good stuff, outside a few out of print WWF DVDs like the Foley hard knocks set, hardcore, old rock DVD, and WWF Action. Now that I think of it, I wish I had more cash on me cuz I always wanted to check out that Foley DVD. I instead bought from the bootleg guy later on the 95 king of the death match tourney. The quality isn't too bad on it, as it looks like he just burned it straight from an old vhs tape. Anyhow they finally started the show about 8 pm. The show basically featured the tournament. They had a singles match to qualify the last guy, then a series of 3 tag matches, with the winners advancing to face each other in the semi-finals, and the 3 winners advancing to the finals in a 3 way match. The tag matches featured some guys I didn't know too well, as well as guys like Jerry Lynn, Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, and Ruckus. This dude called Paul E. Normus actually had an elaborate entrance in which the back sliding exit door opened and he came in a yellow Mazzorati, complete with entourage and Skanky girls handing out bootleg cds. Sonjay Dutt came out as the "mystery entrant" even though we just saw him earlier at the gimmick tables. He had his TNA Guru music but was dressed as the old Sonjay, with doo-rag and all. He and Danny Damanto lost their match to Lynn and Kenny Omega though. Anyhow Lynn, Evans, Hart, all advanced to the next round, along with guy in red tights whose name I couldn't hear, Kenny Omega, Devon Moore, and Kevin Matthews. Intermission was to follow and Sandman just strolled out and hung out with the fans, signing stuff and taking pics with anyone who asked. Teddy however had it announced he would only sign the 8x10s he was selling. That was pretty dickish. we had intermission, and I spent the time looking at the gimmick tables. My dad went for a cigarette break and hung out with Evans, Lynn, and Hart who were taking a smoke break as well. I had no clue and was inside with my friends. Evans told how he just had his orbital socket broke and had to have screws and a plate in it, and it was still numb. After the break in a women's match Alexa Thatcher beat Angelina Love after a wicked kick to the head. The ladies had a pretty good match actually. After the match this super fan that knew all the wrestlers was yelling "Talia's hotter" at Angelina And later on I witnessed a funny moment as they little kids were chasing Angel right to the locker room for an autograph, scaring the crap out of her. Hart and Evans met in the second round in an insane match that had to go at least 25 mins, in which they went through a crazy high-spot fest, with a ludicrous amount of close 2 counts and lots of moves I've never seen before. In the end Evans won by count out, which sucked. Hart got on the mic and thanked the fans for the response and appreciation for their hard work. He went on a bit too long though and it was hard to hear him cuz the sound guy sucked, and he was yelling too much. But the guys busted their ass and deserved the applause cuz they just about killed each other. That DJ really sucked, he took too long to play the theme songs, plus his cds kept skipping cuz he had a little cd player sitting right on top of his subwoofers. Even the wrestlers were pissed. Lynn was actually upset by Omega, and Moore won his match. Necro Butcher stumbled out and announced that Sabu was hurt and couldn't wrestle so he challenged Sandman. Sand came out and did his whole entrance (with cane, beer, and cigarette) , though the stupid dj didn't play the song loud enough. Some superfan who knew all the wrestlers had his own cane and lit up a cigarette and posed along with him. Sandman did the whole beer thing, despite the large amount of kids there (like it mattered, those kids were crazy, cursing and all). They basically stalled for what seemed like forever, fighting over what the rules should be (as Butcher is the "PWS commissioner") sand wanted hardcore rules. They had a "match" that consisted of some weak cane shots, weak chair shots, and rest holds. But the crowd ate it up. Sand finally won the match. By the time he left the ring, it was midnight and we still had the tourney finals to get to. The three way with Evans, Moore, and Omega was pretty lame. Obviously it was so late and they wanted to go home. Evans got eliminated when moore and omega put a double reverse STF on him for the tapout. The crowd protested and Butcher came out to argue with the ref, but Jack was gone and Hart hobbled out to help him to the back. Then Omega challenged moore to get back in the ring and that he would fight for himself and for Jack's effort. Moore tried to run away but Butcher threw him back in the ring. The 2 had a slap fight (really) and again Moore bailed and left to the back. That should have been a count out win for Omega, but instead we got a no-contest. So 4 hours and they have no champion in the main event. I speculated that they probably just didn't have a belt to give the winner. I don't know why they wanted to book a screwy ending like that when they don't have a TV show or ppv to build to, but there you have it. They were filming it and had commentators at ringside, so I assume they'll release it on DVD as they have with their other shows. I just wish I didn’t have the loud smark behind me, yelling about the psychology missing and the blown moves (of which there were many), cuz it got annoying after awhile, though he gave the quote of the night, when the ring announcer (who looked like Todd Grisham's long-lost brother) said that three cars had to move or they would be towed, so the smarky guy yelled "Tow me, I'm already towed! WHOOOOO" All in all a great night, hope they come back.

    Question about TV matches

or matches that apparantly "End" and then come back from break and the match is restarted due to controversy (this happened on the latest Raw 97 ep on 24/7) I remember that like starting in 98 or so, RAW would hardly ever have commercial breaks during a match, maybe due to most typicla matches lasting like 3-5 mins. but staring in the early 2000s we went back to the old way. Now a typical WWE tv show will have at least 2 matches go to break. and there's nothing wrong with having a match end during a commercial, because it makes it seem more "real" cuz if it was real, wrestlers wouldn't wait untill the break was over to beat their opponents and shows wouldn't always end on time on tv. Like how PPvs can have 20 min matches and the same guys will always end their match appropriate to tv time remaining on raw or sd.

    Recording Programs

I use a dvd recorder, and record pretty much everything except for the recent wwe ppvs, which I usually buy the commercial dvds for (I know I'm stupid but I like to have the cases on display, plus 24/7 takes 2 or 3 months to show a particular ppv). as stated before, sometimes I also don't want to sit thru all this stuff, so I'll record it and watch it later.

    Beauty And The Geek

anyone else annoyed by Cara (the girl with the "baby" voice)? I hate girls who talk like that. You can't tell me that's not on purpose.
  8. Jericholic82

    Free Radio

Definately, but "The Mullets" may have killed his career (even though I enjoyed that show for unknown reasons) And isn't time for Matt Gould to have a sitcom? Perhaps a buddy comedy with Kip or Hutch. and damnit spiketv put Joe Schmoe 2 on dvd NOW. and while you are at it, how about a whole new season. I mean you can always find idiots to fool, maybe you can do cross-promotion with Beauty and The Geek, those girls on the current season are pretty dumb.

    American Idol (season 7)

Yknow I agree. I Like Chikezie for some reason. He's got some talent and he just seems like a cool dude and he is so excited to be there you can feel it in his performances. Plus he has no ego and takes everything the judges say and listens (well maybe not from simon). He hasn't had too many bad moments, and screw Simon I dug the harmonica solo. I'm waiting for him to blow us all away one week. and speaking of Kevin "Chicken Little" Covais, did I see him in the audience on the results show or was I seeing things? if so, whos next? John Stevens? this weeks theme is "songs from the year you were born" hopefully they make osme good choices. I think if they get to pick from songs they actually know (I'm talking to the young-uns here) they may have a better week.

    Ole Anderson in 1993 WCW

yea that makes sense, cuz he was a WCW refereee in 1992-early 93.
  11. Rock-HHH for me by a long shot. Though I liked some parts of the Shawn/Bret one. But for some reason I can get more into the Rock-HHH one. Maybe it is the crowd, maybe it is the announcing. The end doesn't bother me much cuz it was exciting and a memorable return by Taker. Sure the blew the timing but thats about the only problem I had with it. And Taker was clearly there to take out Vince and his goons. even JR said "he's coming for McMahon" Remember it ws Vince who "suspended" Taker in September 1999 (to explain his absence to injury). the match should have made it to dvd by now (I have the original WWF Home Video VHS version, I need to burn to dvd cuz that whole show was a good one, with a Benoit/Jericho submission match as well as a fun Eddy/Saturn/Malenko 3 way for the Euro title, and a hot 6 man tag opener with 2 Cool/Rikishi vs TEAM ECK)

Whats the first pay per view you saw live?

I have only ordered about maybe 15 ppvs in my life, the last one being Summerslam 2004. Though I did watch alot at friends' houses. Lately I just buy the dvd for a third of the price, or watch it on 24/7. I may order Mania this year if I can get some friends to go in halves, or thirds.

    The Old School questions thread

I can try to explain Vampiro/Sting/Demon. Early 2000 Sting and Vampiro tag team in a few matches, so it's assumed they are friends. When Russo/Bischoff return, Vampiro turns heel and joins the New Blood. He costs Sting his match at Spring Stampede, therby starting a feud that culminates in the infmaous "Human Torch Match" at Great American Bash 2000. Next Vampiro targets Demon for no real reason. He attacks him and his girlfiends Asya numerous times, leading to a graveyard match at Bash At The Beach, which Vamp wins. Later on Demon alligns with Vampiro for no real reason and they form the Dark Carnival along with Great Muta and briefly ICP. Vamp and Muta even have a very brief Tag Title reign (they won and lost the tag titles at New Blood Rising IIRC). Sting returns from being "burned" and feuds with Vampiro again. Sting and Booker even main evented a thunder I have on tape vs Vamp and Muta. I don't really recall there being an end to this angle but then again WCW in 2000 was over-convuleted.

What would go on a best of Nitro DVD?

Thanks Matt. actually that could take up a whole disc if they ever do a Jericho dvd, which with him now back in the fold, WWE is certain to do at some point. Back to topic I would include all of the stuff already said, plus some of the stuff they were doing at the end of WCW. I would have put some Benoit/Sullivan stuff before June 2007, but we all know why not.

    Legends Programming

I'm sure, cuz I watched and recorded wm 8 with no problem. I just wanted to know the runtime so I know which mode to set my dvd recorder, cuz if it's an hour I'll just set it at HQ (I Hour) mode.

    WrestleMania VIII

That's because the Godwinns were also using "Dont Go Messin With A country boy" as their theme in 96-97 (when Hillbilly Managed them) anyhow as I said in the general discussion thread, the music editing on wm 8 makes me head hurt. But the show is still one of my favs and it was cool seeing it in digital quality (and burning it to disc of course) and what an ending to the show. the Flair/Savage match is still one of my all time favs, with a LUDICROUS amount of cheating by Flair and Perfect that's too awesome to describe. (outside interference, chair shot, brass knux, to name a few) Even as a smark you still want to yell "WHAT A DICK!" when Perfect breaks up Savages pin attempt after the big elbow. The Post-match promos are awesome as well, Heenan is freaking out, Flair is mad, yet strangely calm as he is already thinking of a plan to get his title back. Savage is completely insane, yelling and ripping his clothes apart. And of course the Bret/Piper match. plus The great commentary makes this show one of the best.

    Monday Night Wars

if that's the case it's not too long, Benoit "retires" Sullivan at Bash At The Beach. Though woman was gone by this point IIRC. but if that was the case, they wouldn't have edited Benoit off the Ladder Match dvd on 24/7, or him off the Collision in Korea PPv.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

ah crap I cant go to walmart today. damn it all to hell. anyhow saw the HHH dvd in the warehouse at work today. The cover looks so goofy, it's almost comical. But we'll have it on sale for 17.99 starting Tuesday.

I'm going to Local Indy Show (PWS)

I didn't see his name advertised so I'm not sure. But the Sandman/Sabu match is back on now and Jerry Lynn will instead be in the tourney along with Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, Ruckus, Trent Acid, Necro Butcher, Matt Cross, Devon Moore, Kevin Matthews,Kenny Omega, Danny Damanto, and a Mystery entrant. I'm excited for the show and will post results maybe tom.

Whats the first pay per view you saw live?

Saw Live: Survivor Series 1990 (My dad made me watch it with him, we had just got a "black box" and he was a casual fan, the show got me hooked and I have been a fan ever since) Attended Live: WWE Unforgiven 2002 at Staples Center in LA. (if you dont count me going to the WWA PPV in Vegas 7 months prior) I went with my best friend. He got tix like two days prior and they were awesome, right behind the Smackdown Announcers, about 10 rows back (Shaq sat 9 rows ahead of us and he walked by us, man is he tall) we had fun even though the event gave us Rikishi in drag and A dq in the Taker/Brock main event. on the flip side I saw Angle/Benoit. I also recently went to the Royal Rumble at Msg. Sat upstairs but good view. Had a great time being at my favorite PPV of all.

MLB 2K8 and MLB: The Show

I got the show for ps2 after 3 years with 2k. The graphics on the players and stadiums are way better (well by ps2 standards) than 2k was. The first game I played I hit well, but after that I sucked and my pitchers did too. As I played more I got the hang of the controls more (though baserunning still gives me a problem) and hit better in my last game. I want to start a season, but I wanted to update the rosters, but I don't have a network adaptor for my old non-slim ps2, so I was trying to wait it out and manually enter any big moves made as the season starts in real life.

    Beauty And The Geek

Yea I don't like the whole B vs G thing. It ruins the point of the show, as it stops the beauties and geeks from working together and learning from each other. Instead the only "bonding" is the various skanks try to play the geeks. Come on, not of the one geeks recognized Leticia from TNA, you'd think at least one of those guys is a wrestling fan Funny how a lot of the girls seem to hate her though

    South Park: Season 12

The Imagination dvd is great. anyhow the hiv episode had some good lines (and it was funny cuz this weekend we went for my cousins b-day to an actualy Jimmy Buffett inspired-restaurant called CheeseBurger in Paradise- I couldn't resist the urge to sing Aids-Burger) last night's Britney ep had some good social commentary on it, and then when they revealed the sacrifice thing it kind of delved back into the earlier south parks episodes of insane weirdness and silliness. gotta love the demonic singing. reminded me of the "Damian" episode. "yea she got fat"
