It's not as bad as fantasy baseball, which necessitates having to check/adjust your roster daily in some leagues. Most of the fantasy hockey leagues I've done in the past have only necessitated changing my roster about twice a week. And, Corpse, I don't think OLN is that bad, they're looking to reinvent themselves as more of a 'real' sports channel. They're also trying to get into the NFL mix, too, and broadcast the Thursday/Saturday games that come up after the college season is over, from what I've heard. I just think that the NHL is the first step in that process.

Ok, hold on... First of all, the match was only like 28 minutes, but that's not really important. Secondly, the only noticeable boos were at the announcement of the second overtime. Yeah, they were kinda dead most of the match, but they didn't really shit on it. Their silence could also be attributed to the fact that neither guy was a clearly defined face or heel. Check their reactions to Harlem Heat/Steiners, Rey/Ultimo, and Eddie/Flair which were super hot. This is one of the worst cases of smarks blowing something way out of proportion. While I understand that they're trying to make Batista look like a dominant champion, what's the point of having the match in a way that makes Christian look 100% inferior to him? And after losing to Rey last week, and Batista this week, shouldn't Christian stop making challenges during the Peep Show? He doesn't have the most stellar record after such challenges. And how sad is it that a NC between Orton & Kamala is the thing that I most want to see? Technically, how sad is it that Kamala is the thing that I most want to see?

I don't think the Boys/Pats comparison is that fitting, at least on the defensive side of the ball ... Mangini replacing Crennel won't mean a reinvention of the wheel, as he'll still be using the same D allignments and calls. It's not like they took a guy from outside the organization that needs to change everything ... it's just the guy on the sideline that's changed. The loss of Weis will be a bigger obstacle.

After the Edge feud is over, Hardy should go back to being unemployed. He'd proven to be a less-than-stellar draw the last few years, one hot feud won't set the world on fire for long.

I was never a huge Deadhead but was big into Phish. I went to school with a ton of Deadheads (Colorado will do that to you) and the two groups of fans kind of had a joking rivalry, so we threw a Grateful He's Dead party and dressed up like stereotypical old-school hippies and played only the worst possible GD songs & shows. Yeah, in retrospect it was kind of classless, but this was a town that people hung giant memorials with painted signs and murals and shit. Something had to be done. Having said that, though, I saw JGB in San Francisco and found it to have the genuinely nicest, most willing to share fans of any show I've ever been to.

He's not making nearly as much as I had thought...only $1.5 million. Let's say the Sens traded Hasek to, I don't know, NY, and he refused to report and retired instead? Would the trade be voided and the guy that OTT picked up go back to NY, or would the Senators have to send someone else in Hasek's place, or is NY just SOL? As long as it meant the Senators replaced Hasek with Esche it'd be a good deal.

Yeah, people are saying the Pats will have a down year. My guess is that they'll still win 12 games, +/- 1, and advance to the AFC Championship if not the Super Bowl. I doubt that they'll win, just because I can't see any team winning 3 in a row. But I also thought that they were unlikely to repeat last year and they proved me wrong, so I'm not going to bet against them. Of all their losses, only Weis & Bruschi really matter. Law played so little last year, and the team did so well without him, that he's a non-factor. Plus, Starks, Gay, Samuel, & Poole are deeper than any four CBs that they've had in years. Johnson is a good run-stopper but Beisel & Brown are more than satisfactory replacements. And Crennel's void will easily be filled by Mangini. And if they can find a way to keep Bruschi on the sidelines and in film studies, his loss will be minimized.

How much is Hasek due to make this year? It might work that the Sens could trade him for a reasonably priced position player to a team that has depth at F or D but needs a better goalie (none come to mind, but I'm sure there's one out there). And it looks like we're up to about 5 people that have already said they'd be in ... maybe 3-5 more and we'd have a good enough amount to do a league.

I could see picking up Esche and then moving Hasek. At this point, Esche is more likely to lead a team to a Cup than an older, injury prone Hasek.

The Varsity Club beating the Road Warriors for the NWA straps surprised me. They'd set the RW to look so unbeatable, and then had them lose to a thrown together tag team. (Yes, I know it was because Teddy Long fastcounted, but it just seemed like such a piss-poor decision). Another Road Warriors one: Garvin & Regal beating them for the AWA belts. Again, it was due to outside interference but I can't see why the AWA would go from a pair of monsters to a mix-match tag team of a CW and a JTTS as their new champs.

First, it seems likely that the NHL will end up on Comcast/Outdoor Life Network (source: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=132876) ... two games a week, not the best coverage in the world but better than the sporadic games ESPN showed. What are the odds that OLN will do a better job of spreading the games around, rather than just the NYR/Philly/Detroit/Colorado love-fest that ESPN seemed to focus on? The local sports talk radio idiots took a break from their 24/7 Red Sox circle jerk to complain about this, methinks because Moore was a local collegian. It's beyond annoying to hear people that don't know jack-shit about hockey give their $0.02 about the sport. And if people do decide to do a fantasy league, count me in. It'll be interesting to do some picking this year, what with so much turnover amongst the real NHL (e.g. when is Kariya a good pick-up? This is the first year that he won't have a superstar skating on his wing in a long time ... how will he do in Nashville??)

Eddie speaks the truth. He really put me in my place, and taught me the meaning of respect. It was the wrong definition, but dammit, he tried, and we have to be proud of the little guy's efforts. If he keeps up this progress, he might be allowed to pick his own clothes on the weekends.
