Thanks, treble ... good to know that I'm not completely out of my mind for thinking that the Leafs had a geriatric watching from the press box that postseason. I still feel that they overpaid for Leetch by about $2-million or so. But at least I feel a little better.
-
Dammit, who am I thinking of then? I could swear that TO picked up an older guy that ended up barely playing or getting healthy scratched in the playoffs? Was it Ronnie Francis?

"Hey, my nice car just broke down ... let me go and get a cheaper, older, less desirable one to replace it." The B's better be using the cash differential to sign another big name or 3. Not that much cheaper. They're paying Leetch 4 mil. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ugh ... thanks for reminding me. If you want, we can meet halfway between us and you can kick me in the groin. That's basically how pleased I am about the Leetch signing. Wasn't he healthy scratched at times in the playoffs last year?

And Forsberg managed to go to my 2nd most hated team to my first ... what happened to him either returning to Colorado or staying with MoDo?!?

Why? What did he do in Boston to make a team think that he'd be a valuable addition? I agree on 3 of the 4 ... I'd take Thornton over Samsonov, personally. Raycroft is our goalie of today AND tomorrow, so he's a must-have. Bergeron is amazing for his age and will only get better. Gonchar is the kind of offensive defenseman that'll come up huge in the new, offensive NHL. But Joe, I think, has more upside than Samsonov. Joe's a first liner, Sergei's a second.

They had him before in the mid-90's, I believe. The irony is that he was traded to the Bruins from Pittsburgh in exchange for Glen Murray. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It definitely looks like the B's are trying to pick up some talent. Even Scatchard's a good signing, he scored 27 goals or so just a few years ago. If he can give the B's 15-20 goals this year I'll be pleased. McEachern's pretty much just a depth signing, I can't see him getting major minutes unless he gets some PK time. Murray's the big one, though, and I really can't believe that they brought him back. I'm just praying that Thornton sees the light and decides that it's not that bad here and signs for fair money.

My only beef with the Modano signing is that it means that resigning Murray is that much less likely. I recognize that they're targeting him to replace Joe when he leaves after next year - and also to probably show him that they're trying to win. But I figure the money that they're spending on Modano is money that they won't be spending on Murray. /hope the B's prove me wrong, and signs both

Japanese lady + guy with funnel in his mouth + explosive diarhea (spelling?) = really not that bad

it'll have to wait until I get home from work, but I'm guessing I can sit through it without a problem ... it takes something particularly awful for me to turn something off mid-stream.

My first thought was the diva search ... but they already used Sarge in the "Kamala" role from the 1st search. My second thought was the Eugene invitational ... but since Eugene is a face, shouldn't his challengers be heels? And wouldn't a returning "superstar" like Tatanka get a face reaction?

"Hey, I have a plan ... let's go on a few year stretch where we're horrible, and rarely win and play with a glorified AHL roster ... then, there'll be a lockout and a lottery to get the chance to pick up that Crosby kid. We'll win it and pick him, and be much, much better as a result. It's genius, I tells ya." Just kidding, obviously, but yeah, you've got to be stoked. Even if he's only half as great in the NHL as he was in Junior, he'll be a star.
-
You mean $8-10 million total, right? Because no team can pay more than 20% of the cap on one player, so the max per player would be ~$8-million ... and even that total will be rarely met, methinks.

"Who are the five greatest rappers of all time? Hmmm? Think about it. Dylan...Dylan...Dylan, Dylan and Dylan, because I spit the Hot Fire." /favorite Chappelle line ever

O'Reilly came up with the idea and Adebesi was in charge of the kitchen at the time so was the one that orchestrated the daily glass ingestion.

But luckily, he doesn't suck as an actor.

My biggest fear about having Lesnar & Batista go on undefeated streaks between now and WM is that they're creating the appearance that there are two wrestlers head-and-shoulders above the rest, meaning every other main eventer is beneath Lesnar & Batista. What do you do after WM has come and gone?
-
My only fear, though, P Roy, is that they're pretty much just sacrificing everyone else on the roster for this one 'dream match' (which isn't even a dream match, IMHO). What do you do with all the other ME'ers that have tried and failed against Lesnar after WM comes and goes? Or - even worse - what if either Lesnar or Batista get hurt right before WM? People're putting all their eggs into this one basket ... not a good business decision.
-
Now, I know this'll make Lushus mad, because he's a huge Mysterio fan ... but if Lesnar is in a feud with Mysterio and he's not able to squash a guy that he's double-the-size of ... it'll hurt him going into a feud with Batista. People say that Lesnar needs to built up as unstoppable ... putting him in a feud with a guy that weighs 160 pound yet is able to hold his own against Brock would be counter-productive to his image as a machine. Booker & Benoit would work, though. It's actually harsh that they released Morgan & Haas ... they could have used both of them as fodder for Lesnar and then released them after he was done with them.
-
I'm not just arguing to defend my JBL-suggestion ... I'm really not that married to my suggestion at all ... but I really don't see how you're going to keep Lesnar away from Batista until next WM (which is what, 8 months away) while keeping Lesnar undefeated, without him squashing all the other ME talent. What's he going to do, feud with Benoit for 4 months? Feud with Taker for a few months? Feud with Hardcore Holly? There's not enough legit threats to Lesnar to keep him occupied for long, especially if the plan is to keep him heel the entire time.
-
If Birdie counts, then let me throw World B. Free into the mix.
-
I'll ask the same question that I quasi-asked Barron ... who do you feed to Lesnar then? Does he come in and beat up midcarders and cruisers? Or do you start feeding him MEers? Yeah, it'd be great to have him go to WM undefeated, but not if it means he's steamrolled through every other MEer that Smackdown has to offer.

KingPK, between Chad Brown and Monty Beisel the Pats did a good job of picking up two LBs that could probably start for them this year. Are they as good as Bruschi & Johnson? No, not likely. But are they as good as most teams have at LB, especially with Colvin as a third LB with them? Yeah, I think so. The big thing the Pats have to do is get Seymour in camp and happy again. His hole would be tougher to fill than either Johnson or Bruschi.
