The problem that I have with your trade, Max, is that I detest the Avalanche ... can't Joe go to a team that I wouldn't mind rooting for? Basically, any established team not based in Colorado, Philly, or the Tri-State region. And starvenger, we're stuck with Bettman for the forseeable future ... he just put a ton of money in the owners pockets, and since they're the ones that pretty much decide if he stays or goes ... methinks he'll be staying.

    Brock Lesnar Returning to WWE

He wouldn't be a lackey ... he'd have been willing to do a job for JBL, and would be getting paid for it. He'd be a hired gun, not a full-time ally. And who should he destroy? Having him run in and beat up CWs or midcarders wouldn't be a good way to bring him back, nor would having him steamroll over MEers.

Boon, I think Mueller prefers to bat lower in the line-up ... they had him in the 2 spot for a while and he requested to be dropped in the lineup. I think he's normally in the 8 spot, behind Varitek and in front of Bellhorn.

smh, yeah, I didn't think that TB would make that trade (truthfully, unless it was just to avoid losing Thornton as a FA at the end of the year, I don't think Boston would make that swap, either) ... Vinny was just one of the few players I could think of that are comparable ages, talents, etc.

    Brock Lesnar Returning to WWE

I'd say that Lesnar should definitely come back as a heel ... personally, I'd have JBL hint that he has a surprise for Batista, leading up to their next PPV match. Each week rumors would run rampant about what JBL had up his sleeve, and then have Lesnar return at the PPV and cost Batista the title. Yeah, I know people will piss on the idea because it give JBL another title run and bla-bla-bla ... but he's one of the few guys that gets consistent heel heat, and is a sure way to ensure that Lesnar comes back as a heel. Plus, the next few months could feature feuds between Batista-Lesnar and Benoit-JBL (for the title).

Would I trade Thornton for Bertuzzi? Before the incident with Moore, yes. But now? No, unlikely. Like max pointed out, we don't know what Bertuzzi's mental status will be after what happened. He might never play the same way again (like when boxers kill/cripple someone, they're really not the same fighter afterwards). But there's not too many players that a trade for Joe would work ... I mean, I'd obviously love to see Nash or Naslund or Iginla for Joe, but Columbus, Vancouver and Calgary would laugh MOC right off the phone if he tried that. Maybe Lecavalier for Joe, with a few other add-ons on both sides, would work. But it just seems that there's players that are a step above Joe (the names referenced above) or just a step below (Simon Gagne, for example) but not many that would make good sense for a one-for-one trade. baron, you should so make the road trip to either Boston or Montreal for a game ... a few seasons ago (2001, I think) some friends and I decided to do 5 games in 5 cities in 5 days (although we ended up skipping Calgary/Ottawa to enjoy the US Thanksgiving) and ended up seeing the B's/Habs in Montreal, then the Leafs/Sabres in Buffalo, then a day off while we spent Thanksgiving in Toronto, then Blues/Wings in Detroit, and lastly saw the B's/Leafs in Toronto for a NHiC game ... such a good trip, and even though it was a ton of driving it was so worth it.

baron, I've actually debated when it's acceptable to change the sig ... I think I'm going to wait until Oct 5, since there's always a chance that SOMETHING will go wrong and the season will be canceled again. BTW, I'm pretty sure I'm heading to MTL for the games in February and the two in April ... I don't think that you're local to Montreal, but do you ever head East for the games there?

Who is going to stop watching raw when mnf starts

I rarely watch Raw as it is now ... but once football starts, it'll be even lower on my to-do list. MNF > Raw

Do you mean the John Madden that's been nominated for the Selke 3 times in the last 7 years or so, winning once and finishing 2nd twice? Calling someone with that many nominations underrated is a stretch.

Downhome, I personally think that Miike's films are a good example of what Zombie was intending to emulate, more than standard Hollywood films. Miike's flicks aren't supposed to be a joke, but they're also not competing with mainstream Japanese cinematic releases. I don't have any real proof to back up that theory (e.g. I haven't heard him or anyone else state Miike as an influence, nor have I heard that RZ was intending for this to be taken as anything less than serious) ... it's just my guess. Since this part of our disagreement is full-on opinion, obviously neither of us are right or wrong. But I do have to say if given the chance to watch one of the two, or be with one of the two, or anything comparable, I'd take Sherri Moon Zombie over Scarlett Johansen 7 days a week ... I'll give you that SJ is probably the better actress ... but I don't think she could have played that role as well as SMZ.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not defending BHK's erroneous claim ... nor am I saying that we should just round up the 199 to an even 200 just so we can say more than the Great One got to that milestone. Just pointing out ... well, I really don't know what my intention was ... I think it was just bragging that I knew that Mario got to 199.

zyn, didn't you read my title? I'm one of the least-liked posters here ... you should really set the bar a little higher than me.

CC, he scored 199, though, and while technically not 200 it is really freaking close. And if we're going to say that injuries are an excuse/reason for not having more points, let me be the first to say Bobby Orr is both underrated (under BHK's line of reasoning) and the greatest hockey player of all time. Give that man two good knees and his career would have been entirely different. Oh, and also following BHK's thinking, Neely's one of the best 10 players of all time as well.

    Foods You Hate

No, I'm born & raised in New England ... the only seafood that I've tried has been uber-fresh. I just didn't care for it at all. I'd probably not hate something like tuna-steak, but since I've disliked all of the other seafood related food that I've tried I don't think I'll be trying tuna-steak anytime soon.

Count me as a grindhouse fanboy as well ... up to and including the Sherri Moon Zombie >>>> Scarlet Johanssen declaration as well. Downhome, my only complaint with your list there is that one of those movies wasn't taking itself so damn seriously like the others were ... I don't think Zombie had any intention of Devil's Rejects being a respectable, mainstream movie ... the other horrid flicks you mention were intended to achieve mainstream popularity and be taken seriously.

Ding-ding-ding ... we have ourselves a winner. Yeah, Stock didn't do anything besides fight (even though his teammates desperately tried to get him a goal or 2 ... I remember games where he'd get double-shifted late in the game and players like Thornton would just feed Stock the puck, right on the goal-mouth). He got the fans riled up, his fights with Stephan Peat were legendary, and it was kind of fun to hear the entire building chanting "PJ. PJ. PJ." as he fought. Neely had a funny quote about Stock's wave, too ... pretty much saying that if a player tried that shit in his era, the guy would've gotten his ass kicked for showing up the other fighter.

I'd have no issue with them keeping Axelsson, as long as they kept him as a 4th liner ... he's not even that good on the checking line anymore, and he's so piss-poor offensively that he actually sucks the offensive skills away from his linemats, like a black hole. Pay him short money to play 5 minutes a game. Lapointe was only signed to fuck with the Wings owner ... so let him go. I wouldn't have even have made him an offer. Let him play at home in Montreal or something, anywhere but Boston. Samsonov, while I love him, hasn't done much to make me think he's a legit top-liner ... I'd rather they sign Muzz and trade Sammy (hmm, Sammy & the 22 pick for Anaheim's pick and a player?). Thornton & Gonchar are definite keepers in my eyes, although the rumors of Sergei looking to go back to Washington keep popping up.

Is there a team so hated by its own league

Of the cities that got relocated teams, Denver was the only one that made sense to me, with Dallas a distant second. Charlotte & Phoenix have done nothing for me to think that they deserved a team, and I really wonder how Dallas will support the Stars if they fall on hard times, especially if the Cowboys return to glory.

Could a Round Robin Tournament work

Yeah, it sucked for the AWA because they had like next-to-no talent left. With a roster the size of the WWE, they could have 4 captains picking teams of 8-10 people, and then putting together a schedule according to each captain's ranking of their picks. Team A would have have their #1 wrestle Team B's #1, and their #2 wrestle team C's #2, and their #3 guy wrestle Team D's #3 (and so on and so forth). Maybe throw in the occasional tag or 6-man tag match for variety. Have the teams with the best records (most points) meet up in a PPV or "Clash of the Champions"-style free TV supercard, with the entire roster for those teams facing off in a series of matches. Maybe say the winning team splits $1,000,000, which would explain why heels and faces would be willing to work together. Plus, this could springboard to feuds after the Team Challenge Series is over. (e.g. say JBL is one captain, and his team wins it all ... he might say that one of his wrestlers, say Shelton Benjamin, didn't do enough in his matches to deserve his portion of the winnings ... bam, instant feud.)
