I definitely agree that the provincial battle of Quebec was a blood-feud ... just another reason to hate Bettman.

The other team was Doom. And I think - even though it was a desperate move by a dying organization - that a Team Challenge Series, like the AWA did, would be a good idea, and would work better than a round robin tourney. Have X-number of captains pick teams and then have matches set up per these teams. The wrestler that wins earns 2 points for his team, time limit draws earn a point each. Have it last for X number of weeks, or even just for one PPV. I don't know why, but I think it'd increase interest. Plus, it'd give a reason for two random wrestlers to have a match that actually meant something.

The rivalry between the Leafs & Habs was really hurt by Toronto's time in the Western conference. Boston pretty much replaced the Leafs as Montreal's biggest and most hated rival. Playing every season in the playoffs for 25-30 years straight'll do that. The B's had a good little rivalry going with Washington for a while, it seemed that most of their games had a few fights for a few seasons there ... and then it just dried up. Boston-Philly always tends to be a physcial, scrappy affair, too. Plus there's fights in the stands each time those teams play ... so it's a fun rivalry for the fans as well.

I think the Wings-Avs has been replaced by the Canucks-Avs ... there just isn't the same hatred between Detroit & Colorado anymore. And I still think Montreal-Boston is a rivalry worth noting.

Fishyswa, I agree with a lot of your points, but don't necessarily agree that someone can tell another person what they're comfortable in. I went literally 10 years without wearing shorts, regardless of how hot it was out. Were there times that I'd have probably been cooler in shorts? Yeah, undoubtedly. But was I uncomfortable? No. There's shades of gray in terms of comfort, it's not just comfortable or uncomfortable.

Al, they have good paid attendance, but it always looks like a lot of people came dressed as empty seats. Having people/companies owning season tickets (and not always using them) helps stack the attendance numbers. The Bruins were guilty of that for years, they'd have 90+% capacity announced, but the building would be closer to half-full (or as the pessimist would say, half-empty)

That's the scene that I was referring to, but couldn't actually say because of my inability to spoiler-ize a post.

I hate to say it ... but I thought the same thing, I really wouldn't mind it if the B's made Brisebois an offer. I'd rather they re-up Gonchar before going for any outsider d-men, though. Spend the money on Sergei first and formost, and then worry about picking up other team's castoffs.

In my eyes, LA or NY would be the WORST places for Crosby to have gone ... if he went to the Rangers, he'd have had to share the sporting spotlight with the Yankees stars (especially people like ARod, Jeter, Sheff, Rivera), the Jets & Giants stars (Pennington, Eli Manning, Shockey) and any potential stars the Knicks might get at some point. And LA's proven to not give a shit about hockey players, what with all the Hollywood stars that they have out there. As much as I dislike the Penguins, Pittsburgh's a pretty good place for him to have ended up. Once Lemieux hangs up the skats, he'll really only have Big Ben to share the sporting spotlight with.

Bettman has a job because he not only saved the owners millions of dollars by skipping a season, he followed that up with absolutely DESTROYING the Goodenow and the PA, getting the owners pretty much everything that they wanted. Even though pretty much every hockey fan hates him, the owners love him, and they're the ones that choose if he stays or goes.

I really don't care that much, and don't watch enough MTV to really have an opinion ... but how is it that there are different categories for rap, R&B, and hip-hop but just a generic "rock" for all of the variations of that genre? Shouldn't there be a metal category, or other sub-categories for rock, too?

Ahhh, I get it now, Czech. I really have no issues with Columbus being in the league, but I think the league should watch those cities with a close eye and when the novelty of having a new team wears off, and fans stop coming, then the team should fold. Cities like Boston & Chicago have shitty attendance because their owners are cheap pricks, not just because the team wasn't a winner.

Yes and no, MMoM ... Stock was a pugilist, who was only in the league to fight. He had to fight against bigger and stronger goons, or else he'd have been useless to the B's. Boynton was (is) a skilled d-man that wasn't called up to fight at all ... he just did it because it was the right thing to do. Stock's someone I almost mentioned, but he really wasn't underrated as a fighter ... he got plenty of love, I think.

I'm presuming you mean why is Columbus one of the ones that had a good chance at Crosby, Gert ... and it's just because they a) haven't made the playoffs in the last 3 years and b) haven't earned the #1 pick in that time, either. If you mean something else, I have no idea.

If they could get him for short (and I mean very short) money, I wouldn't mind seeing McCarty putting on a spoked B and joining Lapointe as a 3rd liner on the Bruins. If nothing else, it'd give me the chance to see Grinder play live.

^ c&p from xSarahx's post from the ROH boards ... See, I think it makes perfect sense for a guy to get pinned for that long when the ref is out. He knows he's not going to have fall counted against him, so why use the energy to kick out? If anything, having a guy just laying on you would be better than having him kick the crap out of you, so why not just lie there, try to regroup after whatever the guy did to put you into that vulnerable situation, and then just kick out when you hear the ref's hand slap the mat for the 2nd time?

Technically, the look is impractical for drug/gang activity ... it's probably pretty difficult to run from the 5-0 when your pants are hanging low and your shirt goes to your knees. It might be advantageous for hiding drugs, but unless you're selling kilos at a time, you don't need a whole lot of room to stash your, well, stash. A few hundred dollars of crack could fit into the pockets of the pants I'm wearing right now, and I'm at work in a shirt and tie. The only reason why this look is beneficial for dealing is that it is a very common look and thus the wearer would be more difficult to ID.

I hate to admit it, but the Diva Search is the one thing that I actually care to watch on Raw tonight. I've literally given thought to taping the show and just FFing through everything else.

Update on Hassan (Insider Spoilers, Info)

That's why intelligence is fucking up wrestling ... look at Krusher "Smash" Kruschev ... who didn't realize that the guy (regardless of his face paint and change in outfits) wasn't a former Soviet-sympathizer? But we didn't care, he had a new gimmick and thus knowing what his old gimmick was didn't make a fuck-all of difference. But now people would be rushing to show how 'smart' they are, and thus pointing out something that doesn't make a bit of difference. Just one person's opinion. -
Yes, Lushus, Sherri Moon Zombie is his wife, and she plays Baby ... uber-hot. See, I disagree ... I won't say she's a good actress, but she was perfect for that role. I think she does a better job of seeming believable than Sid Haig does as Capt Spaulding. I think it's just the lines that Zombie's written for him, but sometimes his words seems very forced. Sherri seems pretty much on-point to me.

The only thing that bothered me about DDP's inclusion in this movie was the fact that his accent seemed so out of place in relation to anyone else's.

If they wanted to bump Benoit back to the ME slot, wouldn't they have had his match with Jordan end via CO or something less decisive than an actual pinfall? It's hard to justify including someone in the world title picture when he's fresh off a loss in his quest for a mid-car belt.

The closest equivalent would be shows like Outside the Lines, which showcase controversial subjects and the like, in an attempt to garner publicity/attention and improve ratings. Much the same way the WWE uses controversial (albeit stupid) angles such as this one, in an attempt to garner publicity/attention and improve ratings. Is what ESPN does the exact same thing as what the WWE does? No, not even close ... but one is a REPORTING organization, the other is an (alleged) entertainment organization. We're comparing apples to oranges.
