Bravo's The 100 Scariest Movie Moments

Hm, not too much unknown. You already know what the movie's about before you watch it. Probably would be about the scariest thing in the world if it actually happened to you, watching it not so much. By that logic, though, no movie is scary. Before you see Halloween, you know it's Michael Myers (or at least know it's a 'boogeyman') Same with Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm St. Before you see The Exorcist, you know it's Satan. And I meant the unknown to the character. Not us, as the viewer.

    Shelton Benjamin

I'm at the point that Benoit's abilities aren't enough ... I like a wrestler more for the total of their abilities, and the fact that Benoit can't cut a good promo (IMHO, I know I'll get slammed for that) kind of hurst him ... so, he's a bad example. But Jericho has become one of my favorites again, and his skin color has nothing to do with it. He could be ANYTHING and as long as he cut believable promos and put on good matches, it'd be fine by me. I think since so many wrestlers are white regional affiliation would have to fill in for race. Like, would someone from New England root for HHH or Cena just because they're local? I don't, but I'm guessing other people do. The only time I've rooted for a guy purely because he was from Boston was Kevin Sullivan, and that was when I was like 11 and he was still a Satanist. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I didn't mean for this to imply "do black people only like Benjamin because he's black" or anything comparable. It kind of just struck me during the match with Edge that he was one of the few black wrestlers to be treated with any real respect, and one of the VERY few that didn't have stereotypical black traits ... it was a good thing, it was as if someone's skin color didn't matter. And that's a world that I'd prefer to live in.

    Ozzfest Tour Dates

Andrew, I had pavillion seats for Great Woods last year, and I think I spent about $75.00 for them ... technically, a friend bought them and I paid him back by driving and beers and grass and whatnot, so I might be off by $5-10.00 on the ticket price. Lawn seats'll probably be about $50-60 or so.

    101 Rules of Being Hardcore

Since I missed it, please point out the arguement. Thanks chief!!!! I didn't mean you in particular. I meant the cliche in general ... which is normally brought up by people that are in an argument. If I'd meant you in particular, I'd have referenced you by name. Also, drop the "Thanks chief!!!!" bullshit. For someone that's in their "late 20's" and "married and all that jazz" that's a pretty juvenile response, even for a wrestling message board. For what it's worth, I'm past my late 20's and only not married because I realized the girl wasn't the one for me (greatest decision I ever made, but I digress ...) Lastly, and speaking only for myself, I couldn't give a rat's ass about "participation" on the message board. I post what I want to post, all of which is well within the rules & regulations, and don't feel it's my obligation to change my ways just because other people are participating less. Slayer, you bastard, it's crap like that that's hurting the participation level on TSM.

    Shelton Benjamin

Lushus, I agree, there isn't anything wrong with it ... it makes sense for someone to root for someone that shares a race or heritage. But do you think you'd have the same biases if he wasn't so skilled & talented? I mean, would a scrub like Viscera have more appeal purely because he's black? Conversely, are there people that actually root against a wrestler purely because of his race?

    101 Rules of Being Hardcore

Not flame-baiting, but I never got the reasoning behind someone that's in an internet argument pulling out the "Special Olympics" cliche, either.

    Ozzfest Tour Dates

I'm definitely going to the Great Woods show ... it won't be THAT much money, and I've dug Maiden the times I've seen them. Plus, it's one of the few all-day festivals that I'd even consider going to, and I always have fun at them. Isn't that thinking assbackwards? Rather than celebrate a 10-year anniversary with classic bands, let's get a bunch of "new-school" bands that might not last half as long as the classics? If anything, it makes MORE sense to get old-school, classic bands for an anniversary tour.

    Shelton Benjamin

Since Mrnoitaull brought it up, I have to ask ... do people really like wrestlers more or less because of their race or ethnicity? I don't see Shelton as a black wrestler; I just see him as a wrestler.

    Survivor : Palau

This might be a stupid question, but WHY is Survivor on tonight instead of tomorrow?

    LOST

Fun Fact (that was probably posted in this thread already): Jorge Garcia originally auditioned for Sawyer.

Bravo's The 100 Scariest Movie Moments

I was only paying half attention, but I'm pretty sure it was the scene when the girl is out for a night swim by herself and you see her kind of get tugged downward once or twice before getting pulled under. They basically said the fear of the unknown coupled with her legs getting munched added to the terror.

    Beware the Ides of March

Since you called out my "cooking cooking" debacle the other day, I guess I have to pay you back, Ripper ... "It was in 2005 when my not pronouncing the 'm' in "am" problem made it from the real world into my post on message boards. It was then I knew I hit rock bottom. I would be a male prostitute months later."

    101 Rules of Being Hardcore

    a) as Slayer said, nope, this wasn't funny in the first place. b) swan, you don't have to read "every freakin' post" ... just remember the ones that have been started more than once and got mocked and criticized each time.

Wasn't Jack originally written to die on the first episode, but they changed it at some point?

Bravo's The 100 Scariest Movie Moments

Please tell me it is the old one. It was the old one, don't worry, Mole. I had no issues with some non-scary or random movies being on this list ... you have to think about it's target audience and things like that. A movie like Willy Wonka isn't scary at all, but considering it was targeted as a kids movie, then, yes, it was scary (for the genre). Same with the old Hitchcock flicks; they're really not that scary but when you consider when they came out and what the audience was used to or expecting, then, yes, they'd have to be considered comparitively scary. Any movie that creeps out Rob Zombie HAS to be on the list.

    The Rockers!

I actually was joking when I accused you of ball-busting. I don't think either of us care enough about this 'feud' or match-up to actually begin full-on ball-busting. Let's wait for a more legit reason for that ... like maybe the Pats beating up on Losman and the Bills. And I actually wouldn't mind them just making the Jannetty-Michaels 'feud' a one-and-done kind of thing. Maybe give them a match on Raw, and then a blow-off on PPV and call it over. My main objective is to get Michaels away from feuds with people like Edge or Jericho, especially if it means that HBK is going over.
  20. nl5xsk1

    The Rockers!

Wow, you're really busting my balls today, Lushus ... No, to someone like me or you, it's not high profile. But it's obvious that they'd get mad promo time, and they'd be attacking each other week in and week out, and their PPV match would get all sorts of hype and publicity. Thus, in the grand scheme of things it'd be one of the higher profile feuds. Below the title belt, and whatever HHH is doing, but above the IC belt or the TT titles.
  21. nl5xsk1

    The Rockers!

honestly, at this stage in their careers, is an HBK/Jannety fued what we REALLY wanna see? I thought everybody was bitching because HBk doesn't give the rub to the yougner stars...him blowing a few months away with Jannety just seems like a waste to me...MAYBE a one shot match, just to once and for all settle things, but nothing long term... Yes and no. No, because I really don't want to see two guys so far past their prime in a match, let alone a feud. Yes, because I'm not convinced that Michaels is going to be giving the rub to anyone, and as a really smart poster said earlier in this thread, I'd be more in favor of him being in a high profile feud that doesn't involve him going over wrestlers that are 10 years younger. And, yes, that "really smart poster" was just me.

    The Rockers!

What if Marty turns AFTER the match, Lushus? While I couldn't care less who wins or loses the match I'd rather the Angle-Michaels match not end in a swerve, too, but that's just because I preferred my wrestling to be run-in-free ... or at least run-in-minimal.

    Shelton Benjamin

Wait, Lushus, are you explaining why Jack Potts feels that Benjamin would be 'defending' America, why most wrestling fans would feel that way, or am I just acting blonde again???
  25. nl5xsk1

    Shelton Benjamin

2 things ... 1) when it comes to defending America, it doesn't matter if the person is black or white or any other color. At least it shouldn't. 2) and why would he be defending America against an American that's speaking the truth?
