While I do agree that hockey is the most exciting team sport, you lost me when you said First of all, who the hell spells ain't with the apostrophe between teh a & the i? Second of all, how can you even pretend that baseball is more exciting than football? Watching paint dry is more exciting than baseball.

Boston ... Bruins: Jerry Jacobs is the owner, and only looks good when compared to Wirtz. Last year was one of the first years that the team has been able to make any additions at the deadline; of course, it got us nowhere, but that's a different thread altogether. The team was the first to walk away from an arbitration hearing and let the player go ... and the second. Would rather sign a shit player for $1-million than a great player for $3-million. Grade: D+ Celtics: Relatively new owners, it's just a consortium of people rather than one person or a company. Seems to be getting the team heading in the right direction, and seem to really be fans of the team, so they're off to a good start. Grade: B- (but likely to improve) Red Sox: Again, relatively new consortium of owners. The whole "winning the World Series" thing made them into deity figures in this town. Plus, revamping Fenway rather then building a new park (which would make them more money) is a good way to stay in good graces here. Grade: A Patriots: The Krafts are the best owners in sports. Turned a team that was in shambles and thisclose to moving to St Louis into a model franchise. Hired well (Pete Carroll not-included) and made great decisions from top to bottom. Even their new stadium rocks. Grade: A+

From a "for the good of the game" perspective, I'd go with the Oilers era ... high scoring games with tons of hitting and brawls. And, most importantly, minimal clutching and hooking and all the crap that makes the game so ugly. From a local perspective, I'd go with the Expansion era ... two words: Bobby. Orr.

Most of the bands that I like(d) were through friends or my cousin, who'd either recommend a band or just give me a tape to borrow. The only story worth relaying is that I became a Black Sabbath fan due to the Road Warriors using Iron Man as their theme ... I was a huge mark for them, and thus became fan of the song and then band as a result.

Speaking as someone who's been a hockey fan since the early 1980s ... I couldn't give a shit. The league was better before they expanded. Period. The Southern teams have a boon where there's the "oh, look, there's a new team to follow" but it who knows if it'll last?!? On top of that, watching a lot of the games at the Southern arenas, it seems that a lot of the fans either go dressed as empty seats or take long, constant pee-breaks. Lastly, none of the teams that I referenced deserve to be 86ed in favor of a Southern team. Let them have their own league, independent of the re-born NHL, if the fan support is so great. Personally, I don't the fans will last long enough to support a lot of these Southern teams (Carolina, Atlanta, Florida, Dallas, Nashville) and Western teams (Phoenix, Anaheim) if their team goes through a long, horrible stretch. Give better ownership to Chicago & Boston, and those arenas will be packed again.

If they were to hit the reset button, I'd be a proponent of making it a 16 team league, eight in Canada and eight here in the US. There'd be a Canadian conferece and an American conference, which would guarantee that there'd be one team from each country in each and every Cup final. Canadian teams: Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, & Calgary are a given; maybe add Quebec City and Winnipeg back, giving it 4 Eastern and 4 Western teams. US teams: Boston, NYR, Philly, Detroit, Chicago and St Louis would be definites (due to their history), maybe add Colorado (good fan support) and Minnesota (as the Stars, though, and due to their states love of the sport). Again, 4 Eastern teams - Boston, NY, Philly, & Detroit) and 4 Western.
