I'm with you, al ... these people have got to be joking when they say that they don't know who she is. She was attractive enough for the male fans (although she didn't do much for me), was grrrrrrl-power enough for the female fans, and thus got wicked over. Hell, they gave her the win that ended Moolah's decades-long reign for a reason. Plus, if nothing else, she played a HUGE role in the rock-n-wrestling scene that lifted wrestling out of smoky gyms and onto SI.

I definitely agree that last night's episode was a top 5-er ... just awesome from beginning to end. Locke, as usual, OWNS this show. The whole "making a crib with Claire's help but not tell her that it's a crib" scheme was awesome. As is the fact that he's really only interested in what she remembers about Ethan and the other parts of the island (well, that's not true, I think that he also really enjoys being able to give sage advice and make other people's lives better ... but if it helps him at the same time, all the better.) The entire Hurley goes looking for the "French chick" plot was awesome from beginning to end; his interaction with Charlie while filling up the water bottles all the way through to "she says 'hey' ". And how about the fact that Shannon actually looked worried about Sayid before he left? Maybe she's not just using him, as Boone warned.

I don't know if it was related to the NSK punking him out or not, but a ton of people were calling Glenn gay during his set. The funny part about it was when Doyle came out to do the Misfits set, Glenn said something along the likes of "I'm not so gay now, huh?"

Special K, didn't you name a lot of bands that aren't "rock" at all?

I'd like to know this also nl5xsk1. What you posted before didn't make a lick of sense to me. We must know totally different "skinheads", or we are thinking of a totally different thing. Historically, the first skinheads came around in the mid-60's, and were working class stiffs (think dock workers or factory workers) that hated the rich & the middle class, hated the government, hated the hippies of the time, etc. They were pretty much an offshoot of the whole Jamaican Rude Boy/UK mod scene, and their style of dress & music were both affected by this; for example, reggae & ska were the music of choice. The biggest thing, though, was that they were COMPLETELY non-racist. They, in fact, were more likely to be hanging with the Jamaican immigrants (who were also working class) than anyone white. The 70's brought about the beginning of hooliganism and the origin of the "angry skinhead", and this, naturally I guess, segued to the racist (RAC) skinheads of the 1980s (think Tom Metzger and his idiot followers throwing chairs at Geraldo). Sadly, the US pretty much never enjoyed a non-Racist skin scene ... but there were a few of us that were DEFINITELY non-Racist skins, called S.H.A.R.P.s (SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice). Most S.H.A.R.P. skins DETEST the RAC, or boneheads. Wow, that was a lot more than I thought I'd write. Sorry if it's boring. It's just that I was S.H.A.R.P. (that still dresses in a "skinhead style" occasionally today) that was always pissed whenever people automatically assumed that I was a racist. And I guess I got on a roll. EDIT: The wikipedia definition is much better than mine .... but I will warn you that the skinheadz.com link on the bottom is a RAC farce that gets shit on by any real skin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinhead

Like Loss said, heels don't HAVE to cheat, they CHOOSE to cheat. They take the easy way out, rather than risk having to work for it. mark answer: it was the cheers of the fans that made him The Immortal Hulk Hogan; once he lost his fans he lost the pillar of his strength

I find it so disheartening that people automatically think that skinhead == racist hatemonger. Most real skinheads are NOT racist and hate the boneheads more than an average Joe on the street does. Yes, some skins are racist, but most are not.

Wendi Richter And I think that psycho-heel Victoria > Trish, regardless if she's a face or a heel

I know that this thread is supposed to be a Jerry/Dez-era Misfits thread, but since we segued to the Danzig/Doyle shows, too, I figured it wasn't too bad to post here. I went to the Danzig show at the Roxy last night. The 30 minutes with Doyle was AWESOME but the Danzig-solo sets that bookended the "Misfits" set was fucking horrible. Glenn's voice sounded so shot it wasn't even funny, and he kept adjustin his own mic at the soundboard and it'd immediately get too hot. Even the rest of the band sounded more muffled, even compared to the opening acts ... and I've NEVER heard the headliner sound that much worse than the openers. Even with how bad the Danzig stuff was, the show was sweet, and wicked worth heading into the city during the snowstorm. Doyle rocked, the fans went ballistic for every song, they played a really cool setlist of songs. All in all, a really cool show.

Hey, SJ, thanks for the spoiler ... truth be told, what you said makes me want to see the movie more than anything else that they've hyped. Maybe I'll end up checking it out after all now. Many thanks.

A lot of these are just random swears by wrestlers ... I mean, if it's on a PPV, it's not a big deal, is it? It's like watching any sporting event that they have mics near the field/court/ice ... you hear the players swear all the time.

My cable company did not offer TBS until 1996. The only NWA/WCW I saw was Worldwide out of WSBK in Boston. I kept track through wrestling magazines, renting old PPVs on VHS and word of mouth. WWF was much more available in my market. I know a lot of people growing up who did not have much access to the NWA. Hell I watched more AWA. Where do you live that you didn't get TBS but got crappy little SBK?

Hey, can someone that's seen the movie send me a PM with the "surprise twist" or just post it here in spoiler-mode? I don't think that I'll ever see the movie, but people keep talking about the twist at the end ... so if someone could hook me up with what that is, it'd be greatly appreciated.

You know, BBB, I didn't even think of Mama Said Knock You Out ... shows how big of a fan I am. (hint: not a big fan at all) And I keep thinking of other ones throughout the day: Motorhead - Ace of Spades Grateful Dead - Casey Jones Rush - Tom Sawyer

Sadly, that's what I typed when I was just guessing at it, but I did it as one long word so it looked all funky. I remember having an OLD issue of an Apter mag and it showed Lord Humongous locking up Dick Murdoch in a kata hajime, and spending forever trying to figure out how to pronounce the word ... give me a break, though, I was like 11 at the time.

CC, good to see that I'm not the only one that detests "board invasions"

Lushus is right ... if you tell a Britney Spears fan that she's lip synching while onstage, you'd probably get a "who cares, Britney rulez!!!!" type of response. As in, the fans couldn't give a shit. It's only people that hate Britney or that style of music that actually care. Personally, I'd be uber-pissed if I went to a show where the artist was lip synching ... but I'm not into that style of music, so I'd probably be uber-pissed to be at a Britney Spears show regardless of her singing or not.

Could Van Dam be a viable WWE main eventer?
nl5xsk1 replied to Superfly Snuka's topic in The WWE Folder
Not that he's far from it already, but it'd be super-easy to get RVD to viable Main Eventer level status ... ... book him against people that'll let him use more of his ECW-style moveset (e.g. the flip into the crowd from the top rope, Van Daminators, etc) ... make him the smug, arrogant guy that he was in ECW ... have him come back with Fonzie. The whistle, the never-ending supply of chairs, the whole 9-yards. Yes, I'm basically saying recreate his ECW persona. -
So it's safe to presume that Captain of Outer Space thinks as 'highly' of me as you do? Wow, I didn't realize that I was getting so disliked so quickly. And I hadn't realized that I was down to the -=Mike level yet. Damn.

I hope you made those up. I know, those things sound like a group of 11 year olds sat around and made up "funny" nicknames ... and these were, probably, the best of the bunch. I feel like a dick for questioning something from like 10 months ago, but how can that one be the best when I have no fucking idea who it's referring to?!? Wouldn't the best one have to be, you know, well known or somethign?

Add me to the list of people who would mark out for the heart punch. I think I say that EVERYTIME we do one of these threads, though, so no surprises here. And I'd also mark for a return of the Cobra Clutch and/or the Tazzmission (yes, I know that there's a real name for it, but I'm way too lazy to look it up right here and now)

For LL, I'd choose either Going Back to Cali or I'm the Type of Guy over I Need Love, but that might just be me. For Eminem, I'd think it'd be Hi, My Name Is.

So not liking HST is a sign of being uneducated? Could it be the fact that his writing sucked and he was overrated by his little fan-boys? -=Mike Edit. Huh? What'd I do to deserve the Mike-treatment?!? /no offense meant, Mike ... just wondering why my post was regurgitated verbatim but with your name attached.
