I agree with Ripper ... it's pretty obvious that the big guy was going to fight whether he had a willing partner or not. That guy was going to throw-down regardless of anything the other guy said or did. Better be the aggressor, maybe get a good shot in and stun the guy long enough to keep swinging or get the fuck out. Just standing there like a target is a bad idea.

Of the 5 guys you mentioned, 3 got their biggest heel heat for feuding with Hogan (Andre, Bundy & Orndorff). You could have had anyone managing those three and they'd have gotten huge heat. Yes, Heened was hated, but it's not like any of those three wouldn't have gotten over purely on their feuding with Hogan. Of the other 2 guys, one got his biggest heel heat for feuding with Andre at a time when Andre was easily the 2nd most popular wrestler in the WWF (Studd). Again, having Heenen didn't hurt, but Studd could have walked out without a manager and gotten huge heat for cutting Andre's hair. Flair was indeed helped by Heenen's hyping him up, but to say that Heenen was the reason that Flair got over is a fallacy. Flair would have gotten over on his abilities in the ring and on the mic regardless of a connection with Heenen. And you could have added Rude to your list, but again, his biggest heat came because of something he did (feud with Roberts over his wife) or who he was feuding with (Ultimate Warrior) more than who he had in his corner. Now, if you'd said about all the wonders that Heenen did for Haku, Bossman, or any of the other lower-mid-carders that he managed, I'd maybe agree. But not with the people that you referenced.

I finally got to watch last Thursday's episode last night ... man, whoever came up with the "only the clothes on their back" premise is a softcore genius. I haven't seen that many girls in their bras on primetime TV in ... forever. I think that they were dumb for keeping Kim over Ashlee ... if Kim really is in intimate cahoots with that guy, then keeping them together is just dumb. Vote off the girlfriend before she & the boyfriend can brainwash anyone into alligning with them. And then just vote off Ashlee next time. Having said that, though, aesthetically Kim >>> Ashlee, so I - as a viewer - was hoping Kim would stay around.

AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long Danzig - Mother Fugazi - Waiting Room Agnostic Front - Crucified Special K, I'd actually say that the Sex Pistols == Anarchy in the UK more than God Save the Queen, but it's neck-and-neck

He's fat enough that he's not posting his abs on TSM, a la curryman2002, though. Doesn't that count as fat?

Where'd you learn that, an anti-rape class? I don't care how big the guy is (or guys are, if there's more than one) I'm not about to set up some elaborate self-defense weapon. Take your beating like a man; anything that doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. And if it kills you, you'll be too dead to notice or care.

Why are you angry?!? The team played every bit as well without him (well, almost as well without him) and he was a malcontent that was borderline "cancer in the locker room" at time. I liked him as a player, but he soooooo wore out his welcome with me.

I've been to NYC more times than I care to think about ... my old man's from there, my now ex-girlfriend lives there, I've gone to games and concerts there, and two of my accounts are based out of there. Let's just say that I've visited there more than any city. And I've hated it just about every time I've been there. Too a few too many cocky loudmouths there for my liking (I will admit, though, that it's not EVERYONE that lives there ... just a lot). I actually turned down a job offer because it would have meant living in NYC. This post was fine; you used capital letters and punctuation and the whole 9 yards ... the one that I was bitching and moaning about didn't have either (I'm too lazy to scroll down and check, but if memory serves the only word that you capitalized was "I"). /cool as ever

As a straight-up manager, no other factors included? Cornette by a mile. His work with the Midnites (even in the WCCW days) and Big Bubba Rogers was awesome. The guy was a heat-magnet. You're not doing him justice to go only by his wwf tenure. As an announcer? Heenen by a mile. Total package, including both of the above plus behind-the-scenes things? Cornette

The obvious answer ... not close at all. I work for a company that does telecommunications (got to be vague, I don't want anyone knowing where I work) and has been bleeding money for YEARS yet we're still in business. The wwe could be losing money hand over fist and even then would probably be bought by someone that thought they could make money off of what was left. (think Vince buying wcw). Hell, they could probably cease all live events and make good money just releasing DVD releases and whatnot.

It's like you purposely chose people other than the ones most commonly referenced ... Sox == Ted Williams C's == Bird, maybe Cousy B's == Bobby Orr Pats == John Hannah (although I bet in like 10 years Tom Brady will be the person that people say == Pats)

Agreed on the Bonds "steroids don't help you hit a ball" argument ... if the guy was accused of doing 'roids because he was hitting .420 each year, his argument would make sense. But all people are saying is that he uses them to help him hit a ball further. Basically, he's hitting the ball because of skill ... he's hitting it into the Cove because of juice. BTW, how long until SF pisses on history by renaming McCovey Cove "Bonds Cove"?

Good update on the new-and-improved 'Toine, thanks, Ripper ... the only Hawks games I've seen this year have been against the Celtics, and even then I was only paying half attention. And I think a lot of people are saying Payton would come back to Boston is because he - allegedly - was in talks to sign an extension with the C's.

You know, I never knew that Bambi was a male deer. I just always presumed that it was a doe. Learn something new every day. /wasted today's learning

I'm going to preface my post with the observation that you might have posted the most head-scratchingly confusing post in the history of TSM. Capital letters, punctuation, and grammar are our friends. Having said that ... If it "looked" like it was fixed, wouldn't the Yankees have been in on it, too? It makes no sense. It'd be one thing if the winning run(s) were scored on a play that the umpire blatantly fucked up (say, called a guy safe when it was obvious that he was out) ... but to just choke a 3-0 series lead hardly seems like it was a fix. Something out of Hollywood, yes, but fixed, no. And I'd rather have testicular cancer than be a New Yorker. Sorry.

I might have mis-read his question, but I don't think he's implying that the LOD were being phased out but that the Harts were ...

regarding the whole racism thing ... I have no issues with Corny using the Gangstas as heels, because I really do think that there are enough racists/bigots in that area that they'd have disliked even a babyface tag team if they were black. BUT If he really dropped n****r just because he was pissed at the guy for ruining a match, it's pretty fucked up. Call the guy countless other names before dropping that one. Motherfucker, douchebag, ANYTHING that's not a racist term.

Hey, if Dr. Jack can beat up Ethan the jungle boy, then Jin can beat up an architect from NYC. Sayid, I'll definitely agree is a bad-ass. Sawyer, I'm guessing has been in more than his share of physical altercations. Locke, it'd probably been a while since he had to drop the gloves with anyone but has probably spent a ton of time reading/researching/invisioning it. But Jack? The guys a doctor that was bullied as a kid. If he can beat someone's ass, then so should Jin.

Johnny Rodz is already in the WWE Hall Of Fame. Inducting those three isn't going to hurt the Hall too much after that. It's not necessarily those three in particular, it's people of that caliber across the board ... including Rodz. Plus, as they say, 2 wrongs don't make a right. Just because they fucked up before doesn't mean they need to fuck up repeatedly.

It's weird that you mixed oldschool & current like that ... one would presume that you would have either referenced two old-timers (e.g. Starr & Stan Musial) or two current/recent guys (e.g. Favre and Ozzie). It's not a bad thing, just an interesting thing.

Letting people like Duggan, Volkoff, Sheik, etc. into the "hall of fame" takes away so much of the honor of it. The hall of fame should be like it is for real sports, something that's saved for the greatest, for the elite, for the best of the best.

News from the WWE Quarterly Conference Call . . .
nl5xsk1 replied to res37618's topic in The WWE Folder
re: using "genuine" or "heartfelt" to describe the WWE ... I don't think Vince helped both Regal and Guerrero with their addiction problems to make money. The guy is definitely a dick at times, but it's not like he's a dick 24/7. re: them releasing the Iraq tours ... I have always said that it'd be good business to releas videos of house shows or at least showing them on TV. And I consider the Iraq tour to be a big-ass house show. So, I have no issues with them releasing them to the public. -
sadly, most non-hockey fans would put Bertuzzi there, just for the hit on Moore.

I don't think that Sun needed a 2nd one, but Jin needed his first. The last one was just about Sun, with minimal Jin. This one was more Jin-centric, with the tie-ins to Sun's episode as needed. And I'm pretty sure the Hurley issue has been covered in both spoiler form and regular text in this thread.

Agreed. Pale skin is foxy. Only in his heart.
