I do think that some players are willing to sacrifice personal stats & recognition in exchange for winning championships. Just look at the Patriots, who seem to be fully drinking the "it's the name on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back" kool-aid. Then you look at someone like Pedro Martinez, who'd rather go to a pretty bad NY Mets team for more money than stay in Boston and have a legitimate chance at a second World Series trophy. Even if the WS is a long shot, the Sox have a much better chance of seeing the post-season than the Mets do.

What was the Falcons record without Vick last year? What was their record with Vick this year? Even though common sense includes the fact that they got a new coach & a new system, on face value it looks like Vick improved them by 10 wins and earned them a first round bye & the #2 seed. I have no problems with Vick getting MVP votes.

I used to live in Ft Collins, CO, and the town's right at the foothills to the mountains, so there are all sorts of altitude changes. One of them is a long, steep downhill slope that leads to a straight-a-way that just stops; it meets a perpendicular road and has a giant wall of rock on the other side. Two girls wanted to kill themselves, so got in their car and sped down the hill and then floored it, looking to crash headlong into the rock-wall and die. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to anyone, they changed their mind and hit the breaks right before impact. The skidmarks went for the longest time ... and only stopped where the car smacked into the mountain, killing them both. /sketched out ever time I drove by the crash scene

Do you go to BU? Or just a local fan?

Bingo! I couldn't agree more ... this show wouldn't build all that to just show a toy plane.

NCAA Hockey East

I couldn't agree more, Lushus ... the throwback Lions unis rock. And am I then only one that hates the oldschool SD powder blue uniforms? Everyone lines up to fellate them, and I think that they're pretty fugly.

Seymour is 50/50 to play next weekend ... and even if he plays, he won't be 100%. And losing Seymour is MUCH worse for the Pats than losing Law.

Sorry to have wasted a playoff spot by not sending in picks ... I was home sick, and since I only have PC access at my mother's house and at work, I had no access to a computer with 'net access. Congrats, Chuck, and thanks for a fun season, kkk.

My thoughts are two-fold ... the first is that if someone needs JR and the King to hold their hand and explain that Batista just bent the rules to win, then their seats at the front of the short bus should be reserved. Plus, The days of the announcer adding to the match that way are long gone ... there was definitely a time that the announcer added something to the match (e.g. think of Foley's first book, where he had these visions of JR or Cornette hyping how amazing it was that he was taking this beating and surviving). These days, we're lucky that the announcers even give play-by-play, let alone add to match. the second thought is maybe the writers didn't care about keeping Benoit looking strong because that wasn't their goal. They don't care about keeping people looking good or protecting them unless that person is in their immediate plans. It wasn't long ago that Batista was getting pinned left and right ... why? because he wasn't in their plans. Now that it's his turn, it's time for someone else to get pinned. And, evidently, that person is Benoit.

Two questions after reading that: What wrestlers didn't Paul like? Wouldn't "You Fucked Up!" be a more applicable chant?
-
I don't get how Benoit was presented poorly. He lost to a much bigger man, and that much bigger man had to bend the rules to beat him. Rhyno, the week before, was presented to look like a jobber. Benoit, this Monday, was not.

Like Ripper said about Vick, Brady gets a ton of smoke blown up his ass DURING games (that MNF game vs the Dolphins was even painful for me, and I'm a Pats fan) but the jarheads that work in the studio? They RARELY mention Brady as one of the elite in the NFL. It's always Favre or Manning first, then the other second, followed by McNabb & Culpepper. This season, Roethlisberger joined the list. But Brady is rarely - if ever - mentioned as one of the elite.

Good enough for enshrinement to the HoF ... I think a coach needs a minimum winning percentage of only like .580% to make the Hall ... along with two championships, or something like that. /wishing I had a .625 winning percentage

Not sure if this really counts as a spoiler or not, but ... I've read a few things that Matthew Fox says that Sawyer gets Kate in the short term, but that doesn't mean that he gets her in the long run.

It's threads like this that make me think that the internet is bad for wrestling; too many people feeding off each other, sending the paranoia skyrocketing upwards. I remember being young, and seeing the Road Warriors lose tag-titles to lesser teams (Varsity Club? Garvin & Regal??) without worrying them falling down the ladder. I remember Flair looking like shit night in and night out, and needing to cheat to retain his title without worrying about his spot. I remember Sting losing repeated title shots without being concerned when someone else became the top challenger for the belt for a while. But, now, one guy loses one match (or a series of matches) and it's the end of the world. It's not that bad ... does anyone think that even if Benoit wins last night that he'd be any higher in the eyes of the writers, fans, etc? No.

Belichik might get a lot of love from the ESPN guys, but not a lot of the players do. Like has been mentioned throughout this thread, Favre, Vick, TO, McNabb, Payton, Ray Lewis, and Roethlisberger all get more love from the ESPN guys. When they name the teams that might win the AFC, it's always the Steelers & Colts, with the Pats mentioned third, if at all. When they name the great QB's, it's Manning, McNabb, Favre, Culpepper, but never Brady. When was the last time that Dillon was mentioned as a great offseason pickup? Never, it's always TO. Yes, the Pats definitely receive some love from the idiots at ESPN, but not as much as a team on a 28-4 run, that's defending the SB title after winning it twice in 3 years, and set a league record for winning streaks, should.

Defending Stanley Cup champion? /just kidding ... I fully recognize that it was CDN born players that led the Lightning to the Cup

Because males are going to be watching a bowl game regardless of who's singing at half-time. They need an act that will bring in non-traditional viewers, and someone that's an Ashlee Simpson fan is most likely not a normal bowl watcher.

While not in love with her, I'd certainly sleep with her. Plus, my old man lives in Newton. I could probably arrange a meeting with her pretty easily. /nl5: likes it when they're easy

The posters of TSM have been very desirous that a black poster do well. I've never seen Ripper as a black poster ever ... ever... thats because I'm not. It was all a horrible horrible plot because i got caught saying "niccuh" one time and didn't want to get banned for being a ~RAYCYST!! so I just said I was black...there...the secret is out. I'm the one on the right. "Ripper" lives in a rocking place ... check out the sign behind him, asking "do you party?" right next to an ad for a $2.00/16 oz can of High Life. Sweet.

I bought the book, but lent to my then-girlfriend to read/check out on the train back to the city ... and then never saw it again. (technically, I only saw her once more, but that's a different story). I think I'd dig the site/book ... I have a big pierce/tatoo fetish, and as long as the pictorials aren't too arty I should have an Ok time with them.
-
Inc, if you could find a way to post the pictures, it'd be swank. I've been meaning to pick up the book for a while now, I actually waited for X-mas thinking I'd get it as a gift and didn't. Hey, I might be thinking of the wrong person, but you were once a member of the SG page, right? But you quit because you didn't dig the pictorials?

Dream Matches in the WWE (or wrestling in general)
nl5xsk1 replied to zyn081's topic in The WWE Folder
if, and only if, it was a ~shoot~ ... watching an old, steroid addled man and a has-been karate-fighter have a worked 'brawl' would be painful. -
The Pats have a few holes that need to be filled ... - their age at LB has to be a concern - they could use a taller, more physical wide-out - their secondary is made up of 'getting old' (Harrison, Poole), 'still too young (Samuel, Wilson, Gay, Moreland), and 'most likely leaving' (Law), so I wouldn't mind seeing them pick up another DB
