    New Geto Boys Album Complete

I lost all respect for Willie D when he went on Geraldo and admitted that he was a pranksta. Now Willie wants to be 'down' again, so he's trying to close Pandora's Box. But once you admit that you were a fake, you can't all of a sudden pretend that you weren't. /likes Gangsta Nip better than Willie D //is embarressed to have used 'pranksta' in a post

    NHL Off-Season Thread...

http://www.thn.com/en/survey/survey2004.asp Have any of you guys done this survey? It's too long to C&P the questions here, but it was actually a pretty fun survey to go through. Some of the questions were to restrictive - as in the list of choices was missing an obvious choice - but for the most part it was on-point. My biggest beef was it was too current ... for example, having Commodore as a choice in the 'hair' category when there were tons of players in the 70s that had cooler dos than MC). On a similar note, I've given it some thought and I think it's too soon for either anger OR sadness. I'm still in the first stage of grieving (shock & denial) so anger is next, I'll probably skip bargaining and go straight to depression. I'm pretty sure I'll never reach the last stage of it all: acceptance.

"Woefully underused" is a bit much, I think. Yes, he had 15 carries for 86 yards, but 38 of those yards came on one long run. So, take that one out and it's 14 for 48, which isn't even 3.5 yards per carry. Plus, Brady was lights out, throwing the ball as well as I can ever remember. It made sense to go with the hot hand.

    Best 80's music

I've actually seen bits & pieces of that DVD ... a friend of a friend had it, and was watching it when I stopped by their place. I'd seen one song on the On Demand thing on cable before that, too. The quality is shit, but it's just surreal to watch. If you can find it, definitely check it out.

    The Surreal Life 3

Flava Flav was the hype man in Public Enemy. Charo was really famous in the '70s, I think as a singer, but is basically known for being on the Love Boat like 20-something times. Dave Coulier was on Full House. Jordan Knight was in the New Kids on the Block. Bridgette Nielson was an actress in the '80s (Rocky IV, Red Sonja). And there's some girl from American Idol, who's name I don't know, but I find very hot for some reason. And I agree that this season is going to both suck AND blow, but I'll end up watching. It's like a train-wreck, the AI girl seemingly doesn't even want to be on the show, Knight seemingly thinks that he's too cool for the others, Coulier looks like he's going to snap when they show the clip of someone talking about the Olsens, and the other three are so fucking annoying that it's entertaining.

kkk NFL pick 'em contest thread: Week 1

Well, I'm 0-1 so far, but so is my opponent, and I was on point with my tiebreaker. And the team I root for in real life won, so that makes me feel a little better.

The World Cup of Hockey Thread

TC, if Canada lost it would be front page news, and I mean the literal front page, and it would dominate Sportscentre. If the Americans lost, it wouldn't even be on the front page of the sports section, and would get maybe 2 minutes on Sportscenter. I mean, PRE-SEASON football got more attention then the World Cup does.

Hmmmm, redbaron you're a Habs fan right? After this past spring's playoff series, let me say one thing: Screw you on your "Like being up three games to one or three games to nothing, and then the opposing teams win the series?" /still angry Bruins fan //no disrepect meant with the 'screw you'

Since ESPN didn't do this list (as far as I know)

Kirby Puckett got hit by a pitch? I thought he got glaucoma, and that's what cost him his vision. If we're doing all time, Tony Conigliaro would have to make the list. The guy was a superstar in the making, and took a fastball in the eye. Tried coming back but was only a shell of his former self, and became one of Boston's greatest "what if?'s". http://bostondirtdogs.com/2004/TC_062270_si.jpg

    Best 80's music

To everyone that's saying "you missed (fill in the blank)" it's pretty obvious that the poll is just a certain genre of music. The title is a bit misleading, but it doesn't take a MENSA member to figure out the poll isn't really an all encompassing best of the 80s. I voted for someone else, with the someone else == The Talking Heads. On the list, it'd be Depeche Mode with the Smiths & New Order not far behind. The Violent Femmes have one great album, but it takes more than 1 to get nl5's vote. In general, though, I'd put my top 5 artists of the 80s as: 1 Phish (their '88 & '89 stuff is awesome) 2 Black Flag (everything up to the Rollins years) 3 Iron Maiden 4 Dag Nasty 5 Descendents And, I agree with the Manson haters. He's about as entertaining as testicular cancer.

Actully since it's a parody shirt and being sold as such WWE cannot be sued in any way. Are you sure? Didn't a bunch of hippies get in all sorts of trouble with Phish for making parody shirts using their songs? /embarrassed to own a "Glide" shirt that uses the color pattern & logo of Tide

    What is the difference between

The difference between a great comeback and a horrible choke is one thing ... ... which team you were rooting for. The team you're rooting for wins? It's a great comeback. The team you're rooting for loses? It's a horrible choke. EDIT: I evidently just learned how to spell 'were' ... nothing else to see here, move along.

The World Cup of Hockey Thread

I know it'll never happen, but can you fathom the reaction in both Canada & Europe if both the Finns & the Czechs upset the Americans & the Canadians? And, on a similar note, can you fathom the apathy that will run wild here in the States?

Since ESPN didn't do this list (as far as I know)

Sorry for the quasi-thread jack, but how do you guys define tragedy? If someone willingly puts their own life at risk & dies as a result, it's not a tragedy to me. Not to sound callous, but to me someone passing away while drag racing a teammate shouldn't merit a high place on a 'biggest tragedy' list. It's unfortunate, and I'm sure it really struck a painful nerve for fans of Phills and his team (Charlotte?) ... but it's Darwinism more than a tragedy. Same with the Cleveland players drunk-boating. Or Heatley killing Snyder because of crashing while speeding. Or Bias ODing on coke. To me, it's awkward to have "Roberte Clemente dies while flying to help a country after a natural disaster" on the same list as "idiot speeds and kills himself". /just my two cents

    Real World 15...

I'll agree with you on the original NY season ... it actually seemed like the people on that season were being real, unlike other seasons where it seemed like people either wanted to be famous or have the opportunity to live like or act like another person. My favorite years, in no order: - Original NY - see above for the reason - Boston - the season was boring as hell, but it's my hometown & I was living in Colorado so it was wicked cool to see Boston - Los Angeles - Dom the drunk was a riot, and I could watch Beth S be a cunt until I was blue in the face. - London - for no real reason, I just found it pretty entertaining. Although that one girl was really talented (e.g. good looking) and that always helps. Both Vegas & SD were horrible, but the girls were so hot that I found myself watching every week.

    Sucks to be Amy

You're absolutely right. What's your point, though? Only to point out the hypocrisy that's so prevalent in situations like this ... JBL goes after a fan? He's an asshole that should be fired. Guerrero does? The fan was an asshole that deserved what he got. Random diva hopeful hurts her arm in an arm wrestling 'competition'? Funny. Random smark favorite does? Not funny. Seeing as you're not one of the ones giggling like a school girl over this, I don't see why you care about my point, though.

The World Cup of Hockey Thread

If the US can stay hot offensively, they have a good chance of getting to the final game - even if it is just the trio of Tkachuk, Modano & Guerin. Esche looked pretty good against the Russians, and historicaly a team with at least one hot line and a hot goalie can beat a better team at any given time ... but having said all that, beating Canada in the finals will be difficult. The main thing that I thought last night while watching the US-Russia game was how good the Russian team really is. They're already pretty stacked, and are playing without a ton of superstars. Imagine if all the players (e.g. Federov) had decided to play? And if they had an NHL-caliber netminder? They'd have beaten the Amerks with ease last night. Plus, with Datsyuk & Kovalchuk they have young talent to build around for the future. The Russians should be good for a long time.

    Sucks to be Amy

To all those that are finding this injury so hilarious, let me ask one question: How hard would you all be laughing if one of the guys that the smarks get a hard-on over got hurt? Say, if it was Benoit or Angle or Guerrero? And especially if they got hurt doing something other than wrestling, such as arm-wrestling or an equivalent. Methinks that a lot of people wouldn't find it so funny then.
