AoO, what do you think of that Beefeater Wet? I've had it a few times, but never while completely sober so I really don't know if I dig it, or just dug it because I was already feeling the flow from the previous drinks. And to continue the semi-thread jack, what are everyone's favorite types of liquor?

Since a few of us are taping games to watch after work (and by a few of us, I mean me) would you guys mind using spoiler tags of some sort? It doesn't have to be the uber-anal ones that are used for movies & wresling and whatnot, but just something that if I breeze into a thread to read what you all are saying I won't see a final score or something. /doesn't mean to sound like a whiney bitch, more just asking the favor. //meant to post this before Tawren posted the score of the CR/Finland game, so it's not meant against you at all.

Just pretend your name is Odessa. And the class is actually TSM. /best I could do. "The googles do nothing" //apologizes for bastardizing the Simpsons quote

Even if Past-His-Prime-Time is able to keep up with the other team's third receivers, will he be able to tackle them if/when they have the ball? My guess is no.

Jango, I agree to a point. But if I'm going out for the long haul, and plan on drinking 8, 9, 10 beers over the course of the night, it's not fiscally responsible for me to drink more expensive beers. Getting a High Life for $2+change is easier on the wallet than getting a 'good' beer for a buck or two more. And I agree, watching people order a domestic at the Sunset is pretty funny. Red Stripe's good, not great. I wouldn't order it all the time, but if someone hands me one I'm still going to drink it.

Am I getting too old to watch, or are the VMAs just getting that much worse?!? I haven't heard most of the songs, and couldn't positively ID most of the artists. Few, if any, of the girls looked good. The few bands that I was actually rooting for lost. Other than the Kerry girls getting booed, I want my 3+ hours back.

Am I pitiful for skipping my lunch in order to make it home in time to tape today's 1:00 game? No offense to the Czechs or Finns, but it's not like it's the most enthralling match-up in the Cup. But average hockey is better than no hockey at all.

Was he funny? No, not especially. Was he entertaining? Yes, very. I just always thought that he wasn't looking to be funny in the standard "stand-up comedian" way that people like Robin Williams or Steve Martin were, but was looking to entertain more than make people grab their guts and laugh out loud. The fact that an entire generation busts their proverbial nutts over Jim Carey, and Jim Carey prayed at the altar of Kaufman showed that he had some influence over this generation's comedy.

Canada wins it all, with the Swedes having a good run as well. Russia would have had a chance if they had goaltending, and if more of their stars had elected to play. The Americans, I hate to admit, have slim chance of coming out of this looking good. Their blue-line has been hit hard with either rejections or injuries, and they might as well give the goalies question marks instead of numbers on their sweaters. (of course, regardless if the Amerks win or lose, 99% of my countrymen will be apathetic and/or unaware).

http://www.canada.com/ottawa/ottawacitizen...da-ac11dfe49c67 The owners are thinking of starting a new league, perhaps as early as January. This lockout could actually be a good thing, if it means that a few smaller leagues start (WHA, an owners-started league, a players-started league) and then ultimately merge. Yes, it'd mean the end of the NHL but it could be a good rebirth for the sport. Nah, it'd just be bad news.

Favorite is Sam Smith's Taddy Porter or Oatmeal Stout. I don't drink them too often, though, but only for the occasional treat. If I'm buying beer for home, I'll buy either Stella, Boddington's or Pilsner Urquell. If I'm at a bar, I normally get either MGD or High Life.

Harley, nope, didn't miss that fact at all. But I also didn't miss him pissing and moaning for a dozen paragraphs either. Does it suck that he can't ski competitively like he'd want to just because of a stupid NCAA rule? Yeah, it does. But the rule was in place long before he got involved, and he knew what he was getting into when he got into it. I'll shed no tears for him. He's a professional athlete, period, regardless of what sport it is. You're either a pro, or an amateur. You don't choose when the tag is applicable. Apples & oranges, Mike. Having a camp be sponsored (or a stadium name, or even the uniforms that the teams wear) is a lot different than an individual player electing to forego his amateur status to become a pro.

Even though I don't disagree with him, boo-fucking-hoo to Bloom. He knew what he was getting into when he tried to be both an amateur in one sport & a professional in another. And sinec the NCAA didn't cave in to him, he feels like he's got the right to bitch about it. How about this, Bloom: pick a side and stick with it. Either be a professional or an amateur. And for him to bring up a guy that survived brain cancer as someone that's fought a comparable battle is a joke. Of course, the fact that he brings up Hnida's name makes his brain cancer comparison seem light-hearted. The little bit that I agreed with him went out the window when I read this sob story. Fuck him with his own ski pole.

No, Anglesault is still bitter over Clemens ... well, him and a few other Yankee fans. Most people (including a lot of NYY fans) don't give a shit about what Clemens did. Back to Ricky Williams ... he only contacted the team when they said that they wanted the $8+ million from him. If they hadn't come after the money, he'd have never contacted them. Do I think that he'll come back? Yes, most likely. But the Dolphins have him by the short-hairs, because even if he misses this year, or years beyond this one, he still owes them one more. "Retiring" doesn't relieve you of years you owe your team. If you choose to un-retire, the years left on your contract still exist, and thus the Dolphins will get to decide where he gets dealt.

BHK, she's far from dangerously obese. I work with a married couple, he's just shy of 500 pounds (probably between 475-500) and she's probably about 325. Both of them are far more obese than Tammy, and so are both probably more likely to die because of weight-related issues. Now, if you count in the fact that the years of drug use probably weakened her heart, now that's another story altogether. Quik, what makes you think her farts are "the worst smelling in the history of mankind"? Wouldn't the people who are much fatter than her (e.g. that married couple from paragraph one) have more vile smelling farts? I understand that you were trying to be funny, but ... better luck next time. Back to the pictures: I don't think that she looks that bad. The truth is that we're all thinking of how pristine she once looked, and thus anything would be a step down. And, unfortunately for her, she's really fallen apart & thus she looks even worse. Would I want to get intimate with her? No, not even a little. But do I think she looks as horrible as some (most?) of the people in this thread do? No, even less.

The last time that I marked out was when Foley went off the cage through the SAT. The last time that I actually acted/thought like a mark was probably when the Road Warriors lost their tag titles to Garvin & Regal. How the AWA couldn't over-turn that decision was unimaginable to me. I was about 12 then, so it's been a long time. And in answer to raz's questions, I've never been a huge, die-hard wrestling fanatic. For me, it was always just mindless entertainment that helped me kill a few hours. (It amazes me when people on TSM can rattle off dates of specific RAWs, or how long a team held the tag titles or things like that.) Even when I knew who would win (or who would interfere) it was always fun to watch and see if I was right or not. It was even fun to root for certain wrestlers that you really knew would never win (e.g. Al Snow, Lance Storm, Hurricane, etc.)

It's funny, CT has announced that he's from so many different parts of Boston now it's hard to guess where he's really from. When the actual Paris season started they showed his hometown as being Methuen, which is actually 25 minutes or so north of Boston, and is such a little suburb it's not even funny. But once he was on the Challenge, he said he was from Charlestown (I think it was C-town) which is much closer to Boston and a much tougher town, as well. And I think before him and David announced that they were buddy-buddy from back in the day, he pretended he was from the actual city of Boston, most likely Southie.

WHY DID NO ONE INFORM ME 1/2 OF TATU IS PREGNANT?
nl5xsk1 replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
The one that's preggers is definitely do-able, and brag-able upon that. She's maybe a 10:00 o'clock-er (meaning the time that it would be before I'd think about taking her home from the bar.) The redhead, on the other hand, is still do-able, but I wouldn't brag about it. She's a closer (meaning it'd have to be last call, bar's closing, grab a girl now and go home alone, before I'd take her home) -
The problem is that they can't really ban it for one or two people but allow it for others. Iif they feel the move is too dangerous for one person to be doing it (or 2, if you consider Brock's attempt) then why should they not ban it across the board, and make it illegal for everyone? Regardless of the fact that Kidman sucks at it, and London allegedly owns it (never seen him do one personally) if they're going to ban it for one, they kind of have to ban it for everyone.

... so then I said "rectum? I barely even knew 'em." /end of an inside joke.

Pot grower faces murder charges for firefighter
nl5xsk1 replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Current Events
He'd have made it out of the burning house but stopped in the kitchen for some Doritos & Oreos. / blame the munchies, not the guy growing the pot -
I've been a Rock hater for as long as I can remember. I hated him when he was a face, and hated him (in the "X-Pac heat" kind of way) when he was a heel. He just did nothing for me, but made me want to change the channel. But the last few times he's made an appearance, he's actually been entertaining to me. I don't know if it's because of his charisma & improvisational skills, or if it's because his promos aren't as 'cookie cutter' as everyone else's, or the fact that he's allowed to make jokes that no one else on the roster could, or something else, but I've been more of a fan of his the last few appearances than I ever was before. Would I want him to do it every week? No, I'd probably get sick of him again pretty quickly. But do his occasional cameo appearances bother me? No, not at all.
-
What's your definition of reliable? Playing really well one week and really poorly the next? Or being caught with pot and facing reprimand? If I was a Jets fan, I'd be praying that QC gets no closer to the field than standing near Pennington during timeouts. /glad that I'm not a NYJ fan

Not this season, or whatever you want to call this upcoming work stoppage... Simple solution ... change it to a generic hockey thread, rather than NHL specific. I'd have no problem talking NCAA, major junior, AHL, WHA, Euro, etc. news, with occasional "there is no update on the lockout front" updates.

Question: Did the diva that challenged Carmella want it to be a worked bout, or does she really want to have a shoot fight with her? If it's the former, count me unimpressed. But if it'll be a real fight, with real anger & punches and whatnot, sign me up. I'd watch that.
