http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins..._dough_for_joe/ or http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=95231 Joe gets $6.75 million ... pretty fair, I think. Well, more than he deserves in reality (no athlete should get that much scratch) but compared to some of the other awards, and other salaries, I think that Thornton did well (23% increase) and the team won't have to break the bank to sign him. Now, MOC, how about signing some players to play around him? Maybe win a playoff series one of these years??

Good call on the Porky's 2 ... such a classic trilogy. Wicked underrated. How about Birth of a Nation? It's only the most controversial movie about racism of all time.

Three skins right there ... (ignore the two punks that just dress like skins) ... but probably not the skins you were looking for.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=95112 Original Stars Hockey League ... 6 teams, playing 4-4 hockey with shortened periods. Basically a glorified game of shinny. Not a bad idea, IMHO. I'm just pissed that there will be a team called 'Boston' but there won't be a team that plays in Boston. /still no word on Thornton's arbitration award. My guess: between $7 & 8 million per year

The Earthquake was always a guilty pleasure of mine, and it really always seemed like he was having fun when he was out there. It sucks that he's going to have to pass so young. Good luck in your fight.

Waitaminute ... the new "shit" is both powerful AND emotionally laced with reality?!? How could I not want to hear it now??? Such a tool. Such a fucking tool.

I really don't understand how someone allows their husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend/parent/whatever get to that level of obese. It's obvious that Twiggy here wasn't running to the kitchen to fix herself up those meals every day. If you really loved someone, wouldn't you, you know, NOT allow them to eat themselves to death? Give her fruit for breakfast & salads for lunch & dinner (with minimal snacks) and soon enough she'll be thin enough to get her fat ass up off the couch and eat what she wants. If/when she gets too fat again, start the trend over and repeat as necessary.

As usual, kkk speaks the truth. Other than the lunatic fringe that thinks it's advantageous to kill Americans simply for being America, I'd have a difficult time finding a way to care less what the rest of the world thinks of me & my country. If push came to shove, most of the countries that hate the US would ask us for help if their borders were threatened or if a disaster struck.

Wouldn't have not buying tickets be a better way to show that you're disgruntled?

Not saying you in particular, JOTW, but just a general comment ... people that complain about tape-delayed sporting events getting 'spoiled' by the news is such a pet-peeve of mine. People got so heated on the fark message board during the Tour de France because ESPN was saying the results before they had a chance to watch it that night. It's not that hard to avoid the results. I've taped events that I couldn't see live for whatever reason (hockey games, football games, etc) & still managed to avoid finding the score until after I'd watched the game. It's not that difficult. You don't want to know who won? Don't go to a webpage that will give the results (e.g. ESPN, NBC, Yahoo, etc.) ... it's not that hard.

Full House was funny in a 'so bad it's good' kind of way. I used to watch it every week, even when I was a full-on punk and would be all high at someone's house on a Friday night. The cheesiness used to crack me up, and it just became a show that I always watched. /not a pedo ... I swear.

I was waiting for someone to point that out ... the girls never even called him "uncle" ... it was always just Joey, even when they were really young. I give the gimmick about a one out of 10. He should have been more subtle with the Full House references, and actually contributed something in his posts, but with a FH reference as part of the post.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=94973&hubName=nhl Roenick connected to betting service, and might have wagered over 100k in total. As long as he wasn't betting on NHL games (especially Flyers games) it's not a big deal IMHO, but if it turns out that he did bet on hockey games ...

Musically, I'll agree with you. Ginn was writing longer, more difficult songs by the time Slip was released; personally, though, I find that a lot of the songs seem to be long just for the sake of being long. They tend to repeat riffs rather than expand off of them. Basically, they weren't really a punk band anymore (hell, wasn't it this era that Ginn started wearing Grateful Dead shirts on stage?) Lyrically, I'd have to give the nod to Damaged ... even with anchors like TV Party and Six Pack weighing it down. I just think songs like Rise Above, Depression & Police Story outweigh the thoughtless songs. Plus, when you compare the eras that they came out ('80 vs '84) the songs on Damaged just seem more heartfelt. Final verdict, Damaged > Slip It In, but just barely. And, personally, give me some Dez or Morris over anything from the Rollins era any day of the week

I know me & Banky both deserve a +1 for our insightful posts ... unfortunately, though, kkk, your post actually has some merit and thus can't be considered +1 worthy. Better luck next time.

Like most other people on this board, my biggest complaint was the fact that you knew it wouldn't end before all 6 guys had been in the ring. What they could have done - and IMHO should have done - is made it elimination style. Same theory, one guy from each team starts, and the winner of the coin toss still gets to change in the fresh man after 5 minutes. But, if a guy is eliminated than he's gone for good, and his two teammates have to switch back and forth each time. It would make the match longer (for single brand PPVs) and would make it harder to predict when the match would end.

Which of these should the NHL abolish first?

No, the point for the OT loss has to go. They should maintain awarding the extra point for the OT win, but not give any for a loss. If a team wins, regardless if it's in regulation or not, they should be rewarded. If a team doesn't win (as in loses OR ties) regardless if it's in regulation or not, they should not be rewarded. I'd say give them a 2 points for a regular-time win, one point for an OT win, and nothing for a loss or tie. -
I know, both of those facts were in the interview ... what I meant was that people were complaining about teams like Haas & Rico getting thrown together in today's WWE, saying that they don't have anything in common and thus shouldn't be a team. But, if you go back a few decades you see the exact same thing happening; regardless of the fact that Rose & Wiskowski were former tag champs, having a self-proclaimed Playboy & a guru team up is pretty non-sensical.

I do have to agree that Sportcentre is better than Sportscenter, but for one reason only: I <3 Jennifer Hedger.

Hmmm, kissing my sister sounds pretty bad. So does kissing Domi, though. Call that one a push. Tie games aren't necessarily bad in my opinion; anti-climactic but not horrible. Domi games normally include fights, or at least one stupid penalty. Advantage: Domi I'm not terribly confused by the standings, and am actually pleased when TO has to kill off a stupid penalty, so this is another push. I hate, hate, hate the idea of a shootout, so Domi takes this one without a debate. Advantage: Domi I don't feel especially stupid telling people to watch a tie game (it's the game that's exciting, not the final score) but I do have to agree that Domi is really stupid looking. Advantage: tie game Adding up the score, two items favor Domi, one favors the tie game, and 2 are a push. So, mathematically I have to say that the NHL should abolish the tie game first (although I really don't think either should be abolished.) Now, if you'd said the tie game or Donald Brashear, I'd have agreed with you. -
Damn. I just loved her in "10 Things that I Hate About You", too ... ... wait a minute, that was Julia STILES ... not Julia Child. My bad.

smh, I know the girl that he's married to, my family has known her family for years, and I met him through her. He just always came across as being very full of himself - which meant that he fit in well with Suzie and her family, they always had the same 'my shit don't stink' attitude, but I digress. It was just painful each time I tried to have a normal conversation with him, to the point that I just stopped trying. I actually no-showed their wedding over my dislike of him, even though I knew that it'd be neat to go to the same wedding as people like Mark Maguire. Maybe he just didn't like me or something like that so didn't want to be too friendly with me, but he just seemed like a jackass every time that we crossed paths.

Jango, I was in section 12, which is center stage in the first section of lawn seats, both nights. I ended up not sticking around my seat the first night, and instead stayed in the aisle between the real pavilian and the lawn seats. Wednesday, though, I stayed in the general vicinity of my seat. Where were you? MDMA == ecstacy. Tweaker == someone that's on meth or speed.

I can't ever think of a time where it seemed like Buccigross was sucking up to Melrose, to me it more seemed like he's kind of taking the piss out of him more than anything. (in comparison, watching the NFL crew line-up to verbally fellate Berman ... now that is sucking up.). And re: Patrick and Eisen:: Rich Eisen is a full-of-himself prick in real life, and seemed the same way on the air ... and wasn't that skilled in general. Nothing was more painful than trying to stomach the Scott/Eisen pairing trying to cover a hockey highlight. Patrick was Ok when he has a partner to play off of (him and Olbermann worked well together) but now it seems like he'd be happier doing 'real' news (as in non-sports).

It's funny, people bitch about tag teams being thrown together for no reason today ... yet, even back then random pairings like a "Playboy" and a spiritual guru tagging up weren't complained about. I've always been a bit of a mark for Col Debeers gimmick, so it's pretty sweet to see Wiskowski in another random gimmick.
