AoO, that's the problem ... Phish shows became a tweaker scene. It's like the last few years - maybe since the late 90s - the scene became intertwined with the raver scene, both in 'fashion' and in partying. Gone are the days when it was simply just smoking up or dosing, replaced with pharmaceuticals and what-not. I personally don't find MDMA or meth or any of those things too offensive (I've done enough drugs that it'd be hypocritical for me to condemn others) but I don't like what it did to the scene. I used to enjoy being at a Phish show, by the end it was more reminiscent of either my skinhead or raver days than anything 'kind'.

I went to both Tuesday night's & last night's shows. It's kind of surreal to think that a band that I've seen live over 60 times and have been seeing for the last 11 years won't be around to see anymore. I know most people on TSM hate Phish, so I won't get too deep about the shows themselves, but I will post a few random thoughts after the last two nights ... - Whoever put the additional seating at Great Woods should be shot. You can't put seats on a lawn and then tell people that they have 'pavilian' seats. You put a dress on a pig, it's still a pig. Those are lawn seats, they just happen to have actual seats on top of the lawn. - Pharmaceuticals killed the Phish scene. I remember back when it was a good time, with good people, and the hardest drugs you saw were hallucigens. Now, it's all these kids looking for "shards" and "molly" and "glass", who push into people and act like the fucking assholes that they are. (**although I do like the visual of someone that's obviously trying wicked hard to look 'dirty' or spent, yet is walking around talking on their cell phones. If you can afford a cell phone & the monthly bills, you can afford to clean your clothes.) - I don't know how people managed to smell that bad only a few days into tour. I can understand stinking after a week or 2 of not showering, but it's day TWO and THREE of the tour. You've had plenty of time to get the stench off of you since the last part of summer tour ended. - The band themselves seemed to be having fun again, which is cool because the last few years they looked really bored with it all. Once they stopped having fun, the entire scene kind of fizzled out. - Set-list wise, it was two of the worst shows I've ever seen ... yet, in the grand scheme of things I'm glad I went. I've been going to shows since spring of 1993, so it was good to see them one last time.

I voted SVP, but he's really just the best of a bad lot. If I could pick someone from the past, it'd be either Olbermann or Kilborn. If it had to be a current ESPN personality, but didn't need to be a SC anchor, I'd pick Buccigross (who's the only current ESPN personality that I don't hate)

Devastation, Inc. - Skandor Akbar sucked, and most of the people in this stable were pretty lame at the time (although some ended up being pretty good after the fact) but it was just a cool sounding name.

The only things that suck about living in Boston are the old-school Puritanical laws that are still on the books ... ... the bars close really early (normally no later than 2:00 am) & the public transportation closes down even earlier (so you have to take cabs if you're out later than midnight). ... the liquor stores are closed on Sunday, so you have to stock up on Saturday night to have your football beers. ... there are, as kkk mentioned, way too many Democrats and liberals. You get used to it after a while, but it still sucks. The good outweighs the bad, though. There are a ton of colleges, so there are a ton of bars & a ton of college girls. The music scene is second to none. And it's close to Montreal, so you and your underage friends can make the drive up to legally drink and whatnot.

It's hard to judge how good of a player a defensive lineman or linebacker is if he's not allowed to tackle ... it might prove that the player is capable of catching a QB or RB, but not if he's able to make an open field solo tackle.

Actually, Redbaron, the Bruins team - as they're presently constructed - wouldn't even come close to making the playoffs. Even with Thornton/Samsonov/Bergeron they still don't have close to 2 scoring lines. Their defense is scary thin. And the team's bright spot is a second year goalie. If there's a season next year, the B's will be lucky to finish above the Sabres in the Northeast. /the only bright spot is the amount of money I'll save by not having to go to a single B's game this season.

Preseason games shouldn't be televised, or used as money-making exhibtions. They should be used as a way to find "diamonds in the rough" such as low-round draft picks or undrafted free agents. Teams should keep their star players off the field, and have the games just be between the second & third stringers and bubble players that might not make the team. And the pre-season games should be free for season ticket holders, with the extra tickets available to the general public at a small cost. I agree with the preseason games in principle: a way to determine which players will help the team win. But I don't agree with what the games have become: glorified exhibitions that really don't do much more than put money in the owners pockets.

I think a lacrosse game would do Ok ... not quite at the level of football or basketball games, but if they can make soccer & golf games, why not lacrosse?

I thought it was spelled "ghey" when it was on the world-wide-web?!? Man, does this mean that I've been internetting wrong all along?

EDIT: Mr. Zsasz beat me to it.

Just about anything by Bukowski ... I can just re-read his short stories again & again. If I had to pick one in particular, it'd be Notes of a Dirty Old Man. I've probably read that book 10-15 times, and the better short stories have been read more than the rest.

Bobcat & Nikki Coxx got married after meeting on that show. Lucky Bobcat.

Nelly's Bandaid? The former TSM member?

I'm choosing "other", but ... ... if this is WWF only my other vote is for the Bezerker (I was a Nord the Barbarian mark, so still dug him with his lame WWF gimmick) ... if this can include non-WWF guys, it'd be Vader. No question about it.

I stay groomed enough that the stubbliness is kept to a minimum ... I'd say at least twice a week I spend a few minutes looking around down there, keeping things high-and-tight in the right places. You never know when you're going to end up with some drunk skeezer in your pants, so it's important to keep things looking and feeling their best.

I think that I'd be more likely to cut myself with a standard razor & cream ... you actually have to go onto the skin with that. With my clippers, it's just breezing over the area, and I'm careful not to nick myself with the edge of the blade. Piece of cake.

There are a ton near where I live now (Andover, MA) but none of them are listed on that page. The bar that I drink at is a converted funeral home, and the people that work there are always telling creepy stories of shit that happens late at night. One of the bartenders told me about a time that he had grabbed some balloons from a party to bring home to his kids. He was cleaning the front tables when he heard the door open in the other room, and since he was the only person there he went to check it out. The door in question is a swinging door, and normally takes a few swings to stop moving. But this time the door was completely still, and one balloon was in the bar. The others were where he'd left them. And all the doors were locked, no one else was there, but one balloon found a way to open a door, close the door and escape from the others.

I don't know if I'd say that they were safer than a regular razor, but I wouldn't say that they're any more treacherous, either. I don't press down hard on my junk or anything, but just kind of hover over them. I normally get a nick or 2 each time, but not enough to really bleed or anything. Just a drop or two. (typing this up makes it sound worse than it really is, I swear.)

I shave, but not with a razor & shaving cream ... I use clippers, the same one that I use to shave my head with. (technically not the EXACT same one - that'd be gross - but the old clippers that weren't cutting my head tight enough). I don't use any attachments, so it's pretty tight (a #1 crop) but there is some peach fuzz. So far, minimal shaving injuries, a little nick hear & there but nothing too catastrophic.

Hmmm, history of back problems, playing in what is essentially a minor league with less-than-stellar defensemen in front of him (and thus facing more shots). Why would you be concerned? /sarcarsm I disagree on the first part, but agree on the second. If a team plays a trap, the goalie will face less shots than a goalie that plays behind a more offensive minded team. So, their save percentage should go down as well.

As I said in another thread, I'm a big believer in karma and thus think that both this guy (that got his ass kicked for doing the right thing) and the scumbag that did it will both get their just rewards. He's on the short end of the stick for now, but hopefully, if there's any justice in the world, he'll get what he deserves. /prepares to get mocked for believing in karma

I don't think that I'd be able to find them online, but I'd give anything to have some of my old punk and h/c shirts that I had back in the day. (e.g. the Meatmen "Crippled Children Suck" shirt and the original Cramps "Bad Music for Bad People" shirt.)

Two Jews are walking down the street, and see a church with a sign that says "Convert to Catholicism ... Receive $10.00". One turns to his friend, says 'I'm going for it. Wait for me.' and goes into the church. He comes out about 20 minutes later. His friend says to him, "What happened? Did you get your ten dollars?" And the first guy says, "Jesus, money is really all that you people care about". /thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week //half-Jewish, so am half-allowed to make jokes.

Not to continue the threadjacking, but Ricky can't just take a year off and then decide to become a Raider. The Dolphins will still own his rights (for the next 2 years, I think) and will be unlikely just to let him walk away without asking for proper compensation, most likely at least one #1 draft pick, most likely two to compensate for the 2 that they gave up to get him. It'd be smarter for the Raiders to live life without him and keep the picks. But 'smart' and 'the Raiders' don't always go hand-in-hand.
