The B's re-signing Samsonov would be huge, but would lose some of the luster if Nylander isn't resigned. The two of them really did gel together, and it would suck to see one come back but not the other. I'd actually heard that Sammy was coming back, his brother works at a bar that I frequent, and I overheard him talking to the bartender about it. He wouldn't say definitely but gave every indication that Sergei was coming back. Defensively, I'd let Gill go to arbitration and then just refuse to sign him (a la Dmitri Khristich a few years back) and then use that money to go towards re-signing Gonchar. Gill hasn't ever impressed me, and really isn't anything more than a 3 or 4 defenseman. Lastly, what the fuck has Big Joe so upset?!? Other than Dupont's slamming him in the Globe, and the alleged agreement from Boynton, Thornton has been treated very well by the press & fans of the team. Very few people got on his case even though he yet again no-showed in the postseason. Truthfully, if he wants out of town that bad the team should trade him. Send him out West, maybe a team like SJ or Colorado would give up a few good players for him. I really doubt it ... they gave up too much for Gonchar just to let him walk away post-arbitration. Of course, this team isn't really known for making the best decisions.

First of all, MikeSC reminding people that this is a work is both a riot, and seemingly very necessary. Nothing cracks me up more than people presenting facts about why "A" is better than "B" by pointing out who won more matches/titles/etc. It's all fake, none of those things really prove anything in an argument. Re-read the Hart's article ... there are a ton of opinions in it, and opinions do NOT equal facts. Truthfully, both guys have monster egos and neither are completely without fault in this debate.

Michael Ian Black - who I know is less-than-loved by a lot of people on this board - has been a fucking riot on these. The tangent about him being crap because he's on "VH-fucking-1" during the Reality Bites part was hilarious. And to top it off he joked about how people think he sucks when they recognize him on the street. Funny stuff. And people can't be serious when they say that the show will talk about Montreal or Owen's death ... it's not like they talk about certain episodes of TV shows, they talk about the show in general. If they show anything to do with wrestling - and that's a big if - it'll be Leno or Malone wrestling in WCW.

Good to hear that I wasn't the only one that felt the Chastity-love. Question, though: did seeing her in that porno increase or decrease your feelings for her?

AIR - Talkie Walkie. No one else on this board probably likes it, but I did. A lot.

fair enough, but what the hell was so compelling about 'CSI miami' that convinced him to let THEM use the exact same song? Probably offered enough cash to satisfy Townsend's doubts. And also probably didn't try to threaten or bully him about the rights to using his song.

Random thoughts from someone that doesn't have a computer at home, and so can't throw this shit against the wall while it's actually happening ... - Ali, who has nothing to do with baseball, shouldn't have 'thrown out' the first pitch. Regardless of his stature as a boxer, he has nothing to do with MLB and thus shouldn't have been out there in the first place. I'd have rather have seen a local baseball legend get the honors (Ryan, Cedeno, Cruz). It'd be like having Ditka throw a ball out in Chicago instead of one of the local baseball greats. - Tim McCarver is potentially the most grating announcer on the face of the earth. He makes Madden look sensible. So many of his 'points' were just barely-related trivia bits strung together ("the Astrodome was built in XXXX for XX million dollars, this field cost XXX million dollars, and now Clemens is on the mound" and "Ramirez was almost traded from the Red Sox to the Rangers in the ARod trade, and now, ironically, he's playing LF for the AL" ... WTF?!?) - If they were smart, they'd have the DH rule in effect in the NL parks, and have the pitchers bat in the AL parks. Let the fans see a style of game that's different from the ones that they see all the time. - Never again should they have this game effect the World Series home-field advantage. They might as well say whatever league has more cumulative homers gets the home-field. Or have a spelling bee with reps from every team. Having what's nothing more than an exhibition potentially decide the World Series is a farce.

7) Screw the 3 Ninjas ... Prof. Tanaka was in Pee Wee's Big Adventure long before the 3 Ninjas came out.

I'm pretty sure that he was the kid that OD'ed while 'chatting' online. A bunch of other chatters kept daring him to take more and more pills, and then he ultimately OD'ed while still online.

Has anyone actually bought a ringtone for their cellphone on-line? I've been looking to get a song or two to add to my phone, and really can't figure out a) where to get them ... b) if it's worth it ... c) if my phone even has the capability of having songs added (it's a Verizon). Any advice would be appreciated.

Pros: watching the good looking girls in attendance stand up and show their wares every few seconds. Cons: everything else. /hates the wave, has since childhood

I thought that their reactions in the ring were good, the celebration was good, and even the Dudley's handshake acknowldgement of them as a team were good. All of the above will be wasted if this team loses the belts in the next few weeks. Give them a mini-run as champs, beating established teams, and they might have done a good job of creating a new tag team.

I don't think that I'd out-and-out kill myself over the Bruins ... but I'm already thinking of which team I'll root for once the Bruins have finished ripping my heart out. It's tough, though, I never thought that I'd have to abandon the black & gold. Ralston was good but not great; his role can be filled by Travis Green IMHO. Knuble, I think, they could have gotten for relatively short money, and should have made a bigger effort to re-sign. I'm glad that they let SOD walk, he was a good presence in the locker room but it's time to let players like him and Moran call it a day and let the Delmore's and Girard's prove if they're NHL calibre players. (Of course, if you go to bostonbruins.com, the big headline is "Bruins resign Moran" ... way to go guys, lose 3 of your top forwards and potentially lose your franchise player but proudly announce the resigning of an injury prone #6 defenseman.) Muzz, though, will be very tough to replace. 35+ goals a year is huge in today's NHL, and he and Joe worked VERY well together. Truthfully, though, paying anyone $6 million a year (which is what I've heard he wants) is very risky right now; if there is a cap, and let's say it's $31 million (as reported in The Hockey News) the B's would have $17 million of that tied up in 3 players (Joe, Muzz, and Lapointe). That leaves $14 million to go to the other 20 players on the roster. Talk about a 1 line team. Who could I see them going after to replace all that they've lost? Maybe another Anson Carter-era. Maybe Martin Rucinsky. Maybe Kip Miller. Or, they'll most likely just wait and see what the cap is, and see which teams are dumping players to get under that cap. I'm sure the Rangers/Flyers/Red Wings/Stars will be looking to unload some players, and will probably have to offer to pay some of their salaries to make it happen. Maybe get Billy Guerin back here, and see if the stars would pay $4-5 million of his contract.

WHO CARES?!?! Besides, that doesn't qualify as "famous." Someone that was Playmate of the Year is more famous - with the average media and man on the street - than virtually anyone and everyone currently in the WWE.

Yeah, people should really have trusted Clemens when he said that he was going to retire. Just like when he swore that he wanted to leave Boston to play closer to home in Texas ... and then went to Toronto. Clemens was an ass then, and he's an ass now. All he's done is give Red Sox fans & Yankees fans something to agree about.

I remember reading that most of the players that were going to sign with international teams would have contracts that would allow them to leave that team and come back to their standard NHL team if/when the lockout's over. Thornton better choose to opt out of that deal and come back to Boston. If Thornton does come back next year, the B's shouldn't be too bad: Thornton/Bergeron/some new signee as the top line Nylander/Samsonov/some new signee as the 2nd Green/Axelsson/Lapointe as the checking random scrubs, fighters and AHL call-ups as the 4th I really think a lot of players will be made available if/when the lockout ends, especially if there is a cap. There are so many teams with huge payrolls, if there is a cap (and it's between $31 million & $40 million USD, as rumored) there will be a bunch of teams that will need to unload talent.

Why is the first new song played referred to as "New Song #4" rather than "New Song #1"? Or is that what everyone is calling it, and it just happened to be played first last night? /Great Woods sucks with the lawn-seats.

I want to un-nominate Chuck Biscuits ... the guy's truthfully too cool for the band being created. Didn't he leave Danzig because Glenn wanted him to sign some "I won't drink or do drugs" contract? Plus, he was in all sorts of good punk bands before he started playing with Danzig; definitely too cool for this band.

First painfully sad admission of the day: I actually bought The Postal Service for the sole purpose of using it to de-pants scenesters. Less painfully sad admission of the day: It actually helped this past weekend.

I chose B & C ... get lit up and bang the scenester. If the scenesters by you are anything like the ones here in Boston you do run the risk of her actually putting you in a WORSE mood, though. So use caution. And, I partially agree with AoO. Sex while high on pot is a good time. But I've also thought that sex on coke & sex on mushrooms were a good time, too. Basically, sex is good. Drugs are good. The two together are, yes, still good.

I'm 5'9" (technically between 5'9" & 5'10" but I feel stupid rounding up, so I normally round down) and probably weigh between 170 & 175 right now. I was up to just over 2-bills, but managed to lose the weight little by little. I'd like to drop another 10-15 pounds, but seem to have hit a wall at 170. I'm in reasonable shape, play basketball one night a week (normally about 2 hours, full court, 4-on-4) and go to the gym anywhere from 3-5 other nights, depending on what else is going on. I'm in good enough shape that other people disagree when I bitch and moan about being out of shape.

You're the only person I've EVER heard say that. My grandmother, who is almost ninety and knows nothing about sports, can give a decent description of the pine tar incident AS, is your grandmother a NYer, or a Yankees fan? The fact that it happened in the Stadium probably made it more memorable to a NYer. If someone was from a random place, and wasn't that old when it happened, it's nothing more than a few second clip shown a few times a year on highlight reels.

Some people might care more about baseball, but a lot of us don't. I'd rather watch women's tennis than baseball. And I really don't see how baseball is a longer term 'investment' than any other sport. If you mean each individual season, maybe, as there's twice as many baseball games per season as either the NBA or NHL. But if you mean over a lifetime, I have to disagree.
