UYI ... you wanted something scary, you've got something scary ... http://www.lemonparty.org NSFW ... NSF-ANYWHERE
-
Just by leaving my mouse over the link, I can see the URL ... tubgirl is too infamous and has been shown too many times, it's lost it's luster now and isn't as disgusting. LaParkaMarka is on point with the lemonparty reference as the most disgusting. Do a google search, and you'll see the creepiest thing known to man. Edit: I'm unsure if a google search will work or not ... I'm at work, so I really can't search it out and confirm it, but the only time that I've seen the referenced picture, it was via fark and the person there had posted a google search link.

I did telemarketing for a few months, and really can't understand why you all hated it so much. I thought it was a blast, people would get so pissed off at me for calling them, and since they didn't know me or my real name, I could just antagonize them. People always think that yelling at, or being mean to, a telemarketer will 'show them', but for me, it was the highlight of my night. I remember one women yelling at me for asking for her husband by his first name, compared to calling him Mr. Whatever. I just let her go on and on and on. She was finally like 'get a real job', and I told her that I had a real job, and only did the telemarketing for extra spending money ... and because she had already provided her credit history in a previous call, I could confirm that I made almost twice what her beloved husband made. The sheer rage in her voice while she was cackling at me brings a smile to my face to this day.

I heard part of it on the radio yesterday, and it sounded like it was recorded for Hello Nasty but then left on the cutting room floor. The Beasties used to change their sound so much from album to album, and now just seem to be going through the motions. Just another example of a band that stayed around for 2-3 albums too many.

I don't know how much of it is true, but I've heard that Brown was so dominant at lacrosse that they had to change the rules to create a more level playing field. Of course, the fact that they had to pull out his high school basketball stats and a FIFTH place finish in the pentathlon kind of take away from his standing (if he finished 5th, wouldn't it make sense that the 4 that finished above him should be on this list too?!?) And my biggest complaint with people calling Sanders the best CB ever is the fact that the man just could not tackle. Yes, he was faster than all hell, and brought a lot to the table when he had the ball in his hand. But a defensive player being incapable of making a big hit or tackle is inexcusable.

Ripper, where's the Bird and Russell love? Or "Pistol" Pete?

The guy in question better have some Rambo-esque survival skills when people start being able to identify him walking on campus as the guy that wrote the article (I know someone who goes to UMASS and they actually have a class with this guy; amazingly, Mr. Gonzales wasn't in class today. I doubt that was a coincidence.) And, Mike, when yours is the second post, there's no need to quote the ENTIRE FIRST POST ... even the dumbest of us can recognize what you're responding to.

Being a good basketball player doesn't make you one of the best athletes ever. Being one of the most popular players doesn't make you one of the best athletes ever. Being great at one sport, decent at another, and below average at a third doesn't make you one of the best athletes ever. This list is supposed to be the top 10 athletes ever, and Jordan has no right being on that list.

Oh how dirty the ESPN knees must get from constantly be kneeling in front of MJ. The man was a great basketball player, but was not even a good baseball player (no matter how they try to spin it in the article, he barely hit above the Mendoza Line and looked like a fish out of water when he was out there). And it's not like his golf game is going to win him a spot on the PGA tour. Bottom line: he was a great basketball player, but wasn't worthy of a top ten spot on the all time atheletes list. And how does Jesse Owens not even earn an honorable mention?!?

No, no one has advanced yet ... SJ could have been the first last night, but obviously did not. Tampa Bay could advance with a win tonight (here's hoping the Lightning send the Habs-fans home unhappy). In terms of favorites, Tampa is the overwhelming favorite in the East, and as of now, I'm thinking SJ is the favorite in the West (although either Calgary or Detroit would give the Sharks a run for their money).

Posting that way is HTM's gimmick/image (although it's probably not far from the truth). It gets him attention, and that's what he's looking for. I don't really blame him, it'd be tough to go from being a 'somebody' to being a 'nobody'. And if this is how he gets to see his name recognized, it's what he's going to do. (see also, Tom Zenk)

They're all junk now, because the players are too concerned with getting hurt or looking bad, so they either change the rules (NFL), play no D (NHL and NBA) or take out superstars after a short period of time (MLB). The high school and college ones really don't count, IMHO, because they're more an audition to go to the next level than an all-star game per se. Not too long ago, players actually cared about winning or losing these games (e.g. Pete Rose steamrolling that catcher to score a run; of course, it basically ended that guys career and is one of the reasons players don't try so hard anymore). Hell, there's been fights in the NHL all-star game. Compare that to today's ole style of defense, and it's like an entirely different game.

I won't say that the QB position is in a state of decline, but I will agree that it's not as good as the 80s and early 90s were. It's all cyclical, and it's more that those years were amazing that the era now is that horrible. Look at the era before the great days, and you'll see that those QBs weren't necessarily the best, either. Who would say that Bradshaw was a 'great' QB? The man won 4 SBs, but wasn't great by any stretch of the imaginaion. Jim Plunkett? No one said that Montana was "the next Plunkett". How about Danny White? Or Jim McMahon, Phil Simms, Jeff Hostetler (spelled wrong, I'm pretty sure), etc.? Even look at Joe Namath; his numbers were far from impressive.

While this is a very "VKM" way of thinking, I have to give Batista credit for looking like a pro wrestler. One of the main problems with the smark darlings is when they're shown by normal media, they don't come across as 'larger than life'. For example, we all know what Benoit or Guerrero can do, but when they're shown in normal life, they look very bland. Someone like Batista, who is a gigantic man but is still (relatively) well spoken and dresses pimp-tacularly, would be much more impressive if/when shown as the 'face of the wwe'. I don't know if that makes sense, but hopefully it does.

I normally skip the musical guests, so that episode was Ok. And I hadn't seen Blackzilla and the Player Haters Ball yet, so that one was a great episode to catch. I literally laughed out loud 2 or 3 times. Chappelle's show is the funniest show on TV, bar none. Nothing else is even close.

Just for giggles, AS, what other priorities exist in Yankee fandom??

uhm....that book is incredible. uhm....I disagree. I really don't know enough about you as a person to comment on you, snuffbox, so please don't think that this is an attempt to describe you. But most of the people that I know that love(d) that book say they do because it's a cool, quasi-intellectual thing to say. Tell me, snuffbox, what made the book so incredible for you? I personally found the plot to be barely there, the writing style to be wordy purely for the sake of being wordy, and the deep meaning to be meaningless.

The only shirt shown that I find even remotely funny is the "I hate NY but hate the Yankees" ... the others are an embaressment. And people have to realize that these shirts are worn, for the most part, by the same guys that wear backwards baseball hats 99% of the time, and end sentences with 'guy' (e.g. "we're going to the Harp to drink some beers, guy") and think that date-rape is something to joke about. (no offense meant to anyone here that owns one ... mind you I said "for the most part" before beginning that sentence) Most of them are sold by college-aged kids to drunk meatheads out front of Fenway. The shirts, and their wearers, shouldn't be viewed as the norm for Boston sports fans. Plus, the Yankees aren't above 'witty' t-shirts, I have vivid memories of seeing a drunk guy passed out at a bar near Fenway wearing a shirt that said "Why do they call it the World Series if it's always played in the Bronx?"

Since this thread is going to devolve into a political debate, it really should be moved to the Current Events folder ... And the reason that his death gets more media coverage than other soldiers is because he was a nationally known name. I'm living in Northern Massachusetts, and when one of the local soldiers gets killed, it's huge news up here. Moreso than if someone from Virginia, or California, or Alaska, or wherever, dies. And I'm sure it's the same way every where else. Tillman was the first nationally known name to perish, and thus it's national news. Not because he's a football player. To focus on the sports aspect of it, 220+ tackles in one season is pretty amazing. The guy was a very good player, and it's a shame that the Cardnals had to lose him from the lineup when he chose to enlist. Here's hoping the Cards do the right thing and retire his number.

How is the media reporting this "glorying" their war efforts? If it was the government reporting this news your argument would almost make sense. But since this report is being passed predominantly by the liberal medie, it's actually the exact opposite of what you're accusing.

If he'd died in Iraq, people would have a legitimate complaint ... that war was, to some people questionable. But he didn't die in Iraq, he died in Afghanistan while going after the people that attack and kill defenseless civilians. If you think that's wrong, then I wonder what, in your mind, is right. He didn't die for oil. Or because some dictator tried to kill the present president's father. He died because some religious zealots hate Americans. Keep the political bullshit in current events, or hardcore discussion. And reading webmasterofwrestlegame's question about what makes Tillman more of a hero than anyone else that died makes me ask the same question that I asked while reading the fark comments: Since when can we only mourn one person? Yes, I find it tragic when anyone dies in a war; even the ones that are fighting for the other team. But this is a name, and a face, that we know. So, it gets more attention. But it doesn't mean that we callously laugh about anyone else passing.

cerebus, if you tried it and didn't get high, I'd recomend never trying it again. Ever, ever, ever, ever. Don't even think of it. (more weed for me)
