Just a quick fantasy football bitch session

If I had shit-backups, then I'd be less likely to waive Vick. But the two QBs that I've been using with lately are Hasselbeck and Plummer. Neither are going to set any records, but both are playing well enough that I'm going to keep them active even when Vick is healthy (I just don't think that Vick will do enough in a few weeks to justify dropping the players that I've won with all year). In order to pick up Johnson, I had to cut Bradford from the Texans. He's not great, but he was helping my team more than an injured Michael Vick.
  2. Why the fuck is Vick still listed as a "Can't be cut" player on the yahoo fantasy football leagues?!? The guys been out all year, and is unlikely to be a difference maker even when he comes back (if he even comes back this year). I kept him on the roster in the off chance that he got healthy enough to make a difference this year, but now there's other players that are still available and that I'd prefer to Vick (hello, Rudi Johnson) ... but I can't cut Vick, so to pick up the back I had to cut a player that's actually, you know, playing. Fucking yahoo, every year I tell myself that I'll just pay for one of the other leagues, that the crap that yahoo brings isn't worth it. Sorry to bitch ... if anyone else is stuck with a "Can't be cut" guy, feel free to vent here .. if actually helps.

    Drugs Involved in Aaliyah Crash

Regardless of what drinks or drugs were in the pilot's system that day, wasn't the plane dangerously overcrowded to be safe? Maybe if the plane wasn't over capacity, and the pilot crashed, this would be news, but otherwise, in my eyes, the reason that plane crashed was stupidity.

Just a quick fantasy football bitch session

No, I'm in a league with friends that are enjoying the fact that I'm so pissed about being stuck with him ... thus, I'm stuck until yahoo realizes that he's NOT someone that will effect the league balance if he's cut.

    Least favorite thing about Sportscenter

The thing that I hate most about sportscenter is the way that they basically ignore hockey. I'll watch a hockey game at night, and see a huge hit, or an amazing goal, or an end-to-end rush that's capped off with a great save, and think to myself: "that'll be on ESPN in the morning." And then the next day I'll watch sportscenter and they'll do like 2 minutes of hockey for the 6 games that were on, and instead dedicated most of the show to pro & college basketball. Just my two cents, ESPN ... there's a lot of us that find dunk after dunk fucking repetitive, and not worthy of half the top-ten list.

    The Bus Driver Was Right

I used to work for a tree department, if we had to immediately act on every "remove this dangerous tree" request, we would have barely had time to drink coffee or slushies, and wouldn't have had time to nap or read the papers at all. Jeez, you can't blame the town - those hard working fellas work up to 3-4 hours a day!?!

    Another heartwarming tale...

Not to ask a callous question after such a serious posting, but what the hell is a Knight Ridder report?!?

    Ric Flair DVD

After watching the Heenen footage, let me again say how much it sucks that he had to get so sick. His personality is exactly what wrestling needs right now: over-the-top rooting for the heel, over-the-top hatred for the face. Not worried about who he's friends with in real life, not worried about screaming about tits-n-ass, just calling the match and getting the wrestlers over. Why did the Brain have to get so sick?!?

    Week Twelve Prediction Thread.

What are you smoking? I don't think the Pats have allowed more than 100 yards more than once or twice this year, yet Davis is going to run for two-bills? Especially if the Texans have Banks as QB - New England will just pack 7-8 guys at the line to stop the run and make Banks beat them with his arm.

    American Dragon

Isn't Arch Kincaid a local guy too? (I think he lives in Arlington) ... it's weird that they'd announce a guy as being from Boston to get him a face reaction, when they just as easily could have announced the guy from Boston as being from here. (and yes, I understand that BD was supposed to be the face in the match, so needed to make him more "likable" ... it just seems odd to announce a guy as being local when his opponent actually IS local)

Do easter eggs work when using a PS2?

    Thanks, Bravesfan.
  12. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do most hidden eggs work when someone is using a Playstation 2 instead of a normal DVD player? (and again, this might be a wicked stupid question ... if it is, sorry but I figured this is the best place to find out the answer.)

    Kid Rock Attacks a Paparazzo

I have no issue with the photographers invading the celebrities personal space when they're walking down the street ... while I'm sure it sucks for the celebrity, it's completely legal and is a necessary price that comes with fame. Kane, you said that the photographers were ignoring their "rights to privacy and intimate moments" ... uhm, Kid Rock was walking down the sidewalk. Not, that private or that intimate. It's one thing when the photographer uses ultra-long distance zoom lenses to catch someone in their backyard (that sucks and should be illegal) but if the person is just walking down the street, then they should be open for pictures. It cracks me up that the guy had to fake hurt, big tough Kid Rock couldn't even really hurt a photographer. (nice blow to the image there). And it'll crack me up even more when the American Dumbass has to pay the guy $10,000 for assault.

    Christopher Nowinski Cleared To Wrestle

Count me as one of the ones that's psyched that he's coming back ... he's like Dreamer or Richards, even though they're given something that's absolute shit to do, they make it entertaining. Hopefully his brain isn't so scrambled that he's risking anything by coming back, and hopefully the writers come up with something worthwhile for him to do.

    Good Music/Bad Music decade theory

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but your post lost a ton of credibility from me when you said that 85-95 was better than 75-85. The only era worse than 85-95 was 95-present. I'll take punk rock, hardcore, the beginning of the metal scene, AC/DC at their best, and new wave over 2Pac, grunge, and all the other crap that existed in the late 80s & early 90s.

    A Clockwork Orange

Big fan, but enjoyed the book better. I'm unsure if it's due to the "ultraviolence" or what, but the movie never seems to get the critical love that it deserves. I do have to admit that after seeing it a bunch of times, I have a hard time watching it from beginning to end non-stop, but I've seen it a dozen times or so, so it's not that hard to imagine it being tough to sit all the way through still.

'Simpsons' Celebrate 15 Years of Laughs

I'll say the same thing that I say everytime there's a thread getting populated by people saying how much the Simpsons now, and how it's been bad for __X__ number of years ... quit watching the fucking show then. It's still one of (if not the best) shows on TV, and still consistently funny. Is it as great as it once was? No, but it set the bar so high it'd be impossible to maintain that pace forever. If you don't find it funny, don't watch it. There's still a ton of us that find it funnier than just about any show on TV, so it's got to be doing something right.

    The Simpsons

The problem was they picked a shitty, quasi-serious topic for the season premiere. Too much Homer being sad that his mom (who's not enough of a 'brand-name guest' to warrant a season premiere) and too much serious situations. Normally the first 1,2, maybe 3 new episodes are really good, and then it falls into the on-again, off-again lull that's plagued the show lately. But having said all that, you're kidding me if you think that some drastic changes are needed to make the show watchable. It's still one of the most consistently funny shows on TV (I scoff at the notion of Futurama being worthy of the Simpsons tv slot ... Family Guy could potentially be worthy of following the Simpsons, but Futurama is exactly where it belongs). The kids don't need to age. The show doesn't need to get serious, or more logical. Homer doesn't need to get brighter. The show is still better than 90% of the shit that the networks are putting out there, and you guys want to change it?!? (dammit, Bruiser, I had a whole rant planned while reading this thread and you beat me to the punch. He who hesitates is stoned, I guess)

    One Bad Trip?

I don't mind the spring break ones, because it doesn't seem that MTV was involved in the debauchery. The bachelor party one, though, the commercials made it seem like MTV was involved in the planning of the party, so they basically put the guy in a position that he'd be doing stuff that would piss off his fiance. Makes for good TV, but it's kind of like entrapment.

    High Energy

In a perfect world, it would have been old-school Koko B Ware (the mid-south version, not the lameass WWF-ized version) in a heel tag team with Owen. But, it's not a perfect world, is it?

Huh?!? Where'd you hear that Minor Threat were racists? They must have just been faking their friendships with Bad Brains and Toni Young, not to mention the various Jews that were part of the DC HC scene. I'll give you that Minor Threat is made up of upper-middle class suburban kids wishing that they were more street, but not racists. Kinda makes you think when they release a song called "Guilty of Being White". Is that the entirety of your argument? A song title? And a song that has NOTHING to do with disliking minorities?!? How about Black Flag? They released a song called White Minority; does that make them white supremacists? What about the fact that they had both Jewish AND Mexican band members. I've been a fan of Minor Threat for since 1986, and that's the first time that I've ever heard that they were racist. I'd have thought that something about their passionate white pride would have come out during one of their shows with Bad Brains.

    Tell a joke

I guy goes to the counter of a drug store, and asks if his 10 years old daughter would be too young for birth control pills. The woman behind the counter is amazed, and asks the guy "your 10 year old daughter? Is she sexually active?" And the guy replies "no, she just lies there with her eyes closed until I'm done, just like her mother does" Today's horribly offensive joke has been brought to you by the letter N.
