    NFL Trade Deadline Passes

Plus the salary cap is such a bitch to work with ... that's the reason why baseball and hockey have a ton of trades (no cap issues to deal with) and basketball only has some (and it's normally only between guys with similar salaries). Football's salary cap, which is far and away the strictest cap, makes it next to impossible to move players.

Oh, yeah, Pedro was definitely throwing at Garcia, I just don't think it was aimed for the head. And an interesting thing from thesmokinggun .... In a 1998 lawsuit, former clubhouse attendant Paul Priore claimed that he was harassed and taunted by several Yankees (including Fenway stomping suspect Jeff Nelson) who called him "faggot," according to this excerpt from the complaint filed in New York's State Supreme Court. (for rest of the article, check out http://www.thesmokinggun.com/yankees/paulpriore1.html)

I agree with almost everything that Tom said, except for 2 small things ... Pedro was aiming for the back, not the head. Much like the Rocket, if he was aiming head, he'd have hit the head. Garcia ducked into it, rather than away from it. And I didn't see Lasorda go down ... I'm not enough of a baseball fan to watch an All-Star game. But I trust Tom's instincts enough to say that he's most likely correct.

Ghettoman, I just quickly re-read this entire thread, and am having a difficult time finding more than 1 example of anyone saying that Pedro wasn't wrong to throw at Garcia. People are defending Pedro throwing Zimmer down, but people are not denying that Pedro threw at Garcia, nor are they making excuses for it. Both teams have multiple people that were in the wrong, but neither team is entirely wrong. Pedro, as an individual, shouldn't have thrown at Garcia just because he was pissed off for having a bad inning. Manny was wrong for keeping his bat in his hand while yelling at Clemens. The bullpen guy was wrong for rooting for the Sox with such a passion as to cause a scene. Zimmer was wrong for charging an active player on the other team. Nelson was wrong for getting involved with a non-player that was cheering for the other team. Garcia was wrong for jumping into the bullpen to get involved in something that he didn't need to. And, has been said before, Pedro and Posada were both pointing at their heads saying "this will be remembered".

    Trish does it again

Stacy is far and away my favorite. I can see while people say that she's too thin, but that's a good thing to me. It means that she's not the standard "tig ol' bitties" body type that Vince normally forces down everyone's throat. Most underrated for me: Lita and Linda Miles. Lita is basically only because I dig tatoos, but even regarldess of that I don't find her as heinous as people on this board do. And Linda, while she is way too built for my liking, has a nice face, and is easily the most attractive African-American on the roster. Most overrated for me: Molly. Everytime I see her walk down the ramp to the ring, I'm astounded by how big her BUTT is, and how unproportionate it is to her upper body. It's not like a hot ghetto booty, it's just a fat ass to me.

    Speculation on Dany Heatley

If there are no charges (and the CBA lockout doesn't come to fruition) then he'll miss this year for certain, and most likely part of next season as well. He tore both his ACL and MCL, so it'll be a while before he can even work out again, let alone skate, let alone take any contact. Maybe that'll be the silver lining to the CBA bullshit, it'll give Heatley more time to recuperate. Having said that, though, there's still a good chance that he'll get some jail time, if nothing else as an effort to prove a point that just because he's an athlete, he's not above the law. Question for our Georgia posters: How strict will the law be on someone that causes an accident like this?

Zimmer didn't seek Pedro out? Are you on crack? rtsp://necn.mirror-image.com/media/video/101203_pedro_12p.rm JangoFett, you're my new idol. That video is awesome. And Ghettoman, I'm one of the Sox backers in this debate, and so far I've pointed out that Pedro DID throw at Garcia on purpose, and also that Manny DID overreact. So it's not like you Yankees fans are all holier-than-thou and the Sox fans are the only ones being beligerant. It's been going on both ways, my friend. The thing that the Yankees did that is fucking up their whole argument is assaulting that kid in the bullpen. I'm pretty sure that the team had the beat-down well in hand when it was 5-on-1, before Garcia jumped the wall to join in. If they hadn't of done that, then it would just be the Sox players that look like childish dicks; now it's people on both teams.

    Sapp blasts NFL 'slave system'

I was going to be the one that said "if getting paid that much to work for half a year is being a slave, then chain me up now" but other people have beat me to it, so I'll just point out the second funniest thing about this ... Warren Sapp used the word "Anglos" in his spiel. When was the last fucking time you heard THAT used instead of just "whites"?!?

    Boston VS NY

The last thing that I would have wanted to see was the starting pitcher throwing punches with a guy that undoubtedly has more experience in brawls, regardless of their age. Where were the Sox coaches during this? It's times like this that I was that Jim Rice was still a coach. He would have had no problems laying out Zimmer with a haymaker. Hell, have Fisk be a coach; he's got Yankee-hatred pulsing through his veins. And even in my NE-colored glasses, I have to say that there was no way that Pedro wasn't trying to hit Garcia. He was pissed off that he was getting shelled and took it out on the next batter. He wasn't aiming for his head, though. The Spanish speaking people that were at the game are reporting that all the pointing to his head was Pedro telling Jorge that he'd remember this, not that he was aiming at their heads next time.

    Real World/Road Rules The Gauntlet

That'd be Rachel ... who I have to agree is smoking hot (hotter than Veronica, in my eyes.) Only issue with Rachel is that she "prefers the company of women", which is great and all but means that she wouldn't sleep with me. Which isn't great and all.

Oh, I fully recognize that Manny over-reacted. But I still believe that Clemens threw that pitch to back Manny off the plate. He's done that his entire career. And can't I please keep my New England colored sunglasses on? I look so much cooler in them.
  13. nl5xsk1

    Boston VS NY

It's funny to me that I keep getting in these baseball debates, but actually am wicked apathetic about the game. I recognize that if Clemens had wanted to hit Manny, he would have. None of this "almost" bullshit but an out and out beaning. Having said that, though, the pitch from Clemens was exactly where he wanted it to be: head high and rather inside. Just to bump Ramirez off the plate, but still an inside pitch. But it was done AFTER the umps said that they wouldn't put up with any of this shit. If the umps had deemed it necessary, Clemens could have gotten ejected. (and again, I'm NOT saying that he should have. Just pointing out that the umps had that option for him throwing inside after being warned not to)

    Real World/Road Rules The Gauntlet

I'm with Lando ... too many new people who I don't know that well, or find interesting enough to really care about. Having said that, though, I'll be watching until the girls that I dig are eliminated. MTV is smart, even when they're placing the show in the middle of Colorado they make a bunch of the events to be aquatically themed. Water = bikinis. And bikins = ratings.

    Bill Romanowski

Romo ... looking for a post-football career, most likely in an NFL announcer's booth. Romo ... not deserving of a post-football career. Fuck him, what goes around comes around, Bill. If you believe in karma, well karma just bit you on your ass.

    Boston VS NY

Good thing that Clemens is retiring, then, or he'd be facing an 8-gamer too. Why, exactly? Throwing at a batter (when he went relatively high and inside on Manny) and then for his threatening remarks and actions during the ensuing face-off (a couple "fuck you"s were pretty obvious during that standoff) And don't ignore the fact the the next line in my post was that NO ONE should be suspended. I was purely going by the reasoning Dawn provided about why Martinez deserves a suspension, and was pointing out that Clemens would too.

    Boston VS NY

Good thing that Clemens is retiring, then, or he'd be facing an 8-gamer too. Know who I think should be suspended for the one-the-field happenings? No one. Nothing happened after the warnings were made, so no suspensions should be made. For the debacle in the bullpen, though, I'm going to wait and hear the final story before making up my mind. If the Sox employee really did swing first, then I think that Nelson was Ok to pummel him. If it was Nelson that threw the first punch, then a think a 3-5 game suspension would make sense. (Garcia, as a player on the field, had no reason to leap into the bullpen to join a gang-style beat down, but I don't think that's a suspend-able offense. Just another inside fastball next season should suffice.)

    Trish does it again

If they took all the women from both shows, and put together a one hour show once a week with just their matches (both "athletic" and the standard TnA-types), I'd be more likely to watch that than Raw or Smackdown. There'e enough good workers right now to have a few real matches, and enough hot girls with no skills to do the Tna/bikini crap. Of course, they'd run out of feuds in like 2 months because of how much the WWE rushes through their feuds now, but it'd be interesting for a while.

    The Exploited

I don't think it's gotten much publicity, so I'm spreading the word here and now ... this Sunday, the Exploited will be finishing up their first US tour in over a decade. If you're at all into punk/hardcore/Oi!, then you really should check out this show. I saw them on The Massacre tour (1991) and it was un-fucking-believable. Plus, Lupo's is a sweet place to see a show. I doubt anyone else has any desire to go, but one thing is certain: nl5xsk1 will be reliving his punk rock youth at the Exploited this Sunday night.

    Bands you recentley discovered....

Lately I've been digging The Streets, but they're the kind of artist that I know in like 3 months I'll start to dislike and then won't listen to again. Am I the only one who does that? Finds a new artist that they really dig, but then just stop liking them altogether? Happens all the time to me.

    Am I the only person

The only positive thing that I can think about all of this is that it was Eddy that got to spray the hose. Think of it this way: Austin was the originator. Then there was Angle. Both of them were viewed - by the people behind the scenes - as major players. While I hate the fact that it's an angle based on human excrement, I'm at least a little stoked that they put Eddy in a position that follows Austin & Angle, two of the most over stars of their times. Of course, I'm waiting to get slammed for pointing out the positive, but you've got to admit the simple fact that someone in back thought enough of Eddy to have him do the Austin/Angle spraying thing is kind of cool.

    3 million Chinese drink urine

I've seen enough piss-porn in my day to know that drinking piss is not that uncommon. I'd have guessed it was the Germans, though ... most piss porn seems to be from there. Who'd have thunk that it was the Chinese, too?!?

    I fucking love Boston

As a big-time Bronco hater that was living in Colorado when they were winning Super Bowls, the only thing that made it Ok for me was watching their idiot fans riot in downtown Denver, and getting tear gassed and everything. So it's not like it's just us in the Northeast that tear their city down to celebrate. We just do it early and often.
