It sucks that the first two posts of my morning have been about Cash passing away and now this one. As a kid from the 70s, I grew up watching Three's Company (and not just for Chrissy, either, I preferred Teri, but I digress) It was cool to see someone who had been virtually non-existant in the 80s and 90s (crappy movies like Problem Child don't count as a career) come back so huge 25 years after his first big break and have a relatively big hit sitcom. Hopefully his show goes on, and his legacy remains.

I first got into Johnny when Social Distortion put a cover of Ring of Fire on an album, back in 1990. I bought some of his albums and liked them, even though I was wicked not into C&W type music. I kind of kept my appreciation of Cash quiet until I saw Phish cover Walk the Line in 1992 ... it was then that I realized how widespread the appreciation of Cash's music really was. Since then, I've been a proud and vocal fan of his music. It's been really cool to see people on this board - some of whom are a lot younger than me - begin to scream his praises too. He'll be missed. He was cool before it was acceptable to be cool.

Can't you do the draft on a weekend? Or later in the day? It's bad enough that I spend to much time at TSM while I'm at work. I can't participate in a full draft in the middle of my day. Of course, having said that, if not enough people join, count me in. They won't fire me for fucking around one afternoon, will they? Will they?!?

Iwent to a Sox-Marlins interleague game a few years ago, and every time Gary Sheffield was jogging back to the dugout the guy a few rows behind me would yell to him "Hey, Gary, it's me ... remember me?" and "Come on, Sheffield, you know me". Did it EVERY inning, to the point that Sheffield started looking at him all confused, wondering how he knew this guy. Finally, towards the end of the game, the guy delivered the punch line ... "Gary, you must remember me ... I knew you when you were good!". Sheffield storms into the dugout all angry, everyone in my section laughs at him, it was a good time. And at every hockey game we go to, PJ Axelson (a Swede) tries to do too many moves, and ends up faking himself out of a play. My friend yells the same thing, every time : "Too much Swedish, not enough Finnish"

Because Jeremy Jacobs is a fucking tightass, and Harry Sinden is worse. Yeah, agreed that Jacobs/Sinden/MOC all suck, but Arvedson would have looked really good on the Bruins second line, putting up almost 40 points, and for not much money. Paying a guy $1.5 million isn't bad, and SHOULD have been in the Bruins price range.
-
Why the HELL can't the Bruins pick up a player like Arvedson?!? He signed a one year deal, which is wicked important for a Bruins signing. And for relatively short money too. Dammit. At least it makes the Sens a little weaker. Which is almost as good as the Bruins getting stronger.

The *Official* bps21 NFL Power Rankings (Week 1)
nl5xsk1 replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in Sports
I think it's too early in the season to have a power rankings ... just because a team had a great first week doesn't mean that they will all season (e.g. last year's Patriots - the first 2 games they were like a juggernaut, and then quickly fell back down to earth.) And, even after I watched all 60 minutes of the Bills demolishing the Patriots, there's NO WAY I'd put the Bills as the 4th best team in the league. -
If you're willing to spend $50.00+ on a baseball ticket, you can get tickets for most games (e.g. good luck getting tickets to a Yankees game). You just need to get them through a ticket broker. So, the waiting list isn't an issue. And it'd be awfully difficult to fall over the wall. The wall is like chest high, so you'd literally need to jump, and jump pretty high, to get enough elevation to fall over the fence. That's not too say that some drunk won't find a way to climb over, but it wouldn't be an accidental fall.

I don't know if it just shows how out of whack my line of thinking is, but I'm more offended of them bastardizing Clockwork Orange than I am using Gacy/Pogo as a gimmick.

The big reason why they WON'T turn Jericho face? Because they're planning on turning hhh later this year. His pops will be less than Jericho's, and heaven forbid someone looks better, or more over, than hhh. Only other guess: they turn Jericho now, and then quickly turn him heel, ruining his heat, in time for hhh to turn face.

I have to agree with everyone that says take the belts off of them for not being over, not for fucking up a spot. If everyone that fucked up a spot got fired/demoted/depushed, there'd be no one left. And as long as Spike's not injured, that fuck up might be a good thing. It'll sure look good in those "don't try this at home" video packages.

Name a wrestler and I'll tell you why he/she sucks
nl5xsk1 replied to Elbarto997's topic in No Holds Barred
If you meant dumb as in "as good as Tully Blanchard was" and retired as in "dead" then you're dead right. How about this one ... it's not an actual wrestler but a wrestling related personality: Elbarto997 -
Truth, first and foremost: Congratulations on a big win yesterday. Last year proved that the East is going to be a pretty tight race until one of these teams either really falls apart or really makes a major step forward. But ... there's no way that the Bills are as strong as they looked yesterday, and no way that the Pats are as horrible. Some of the penalties were questionable, and were major momentum shifters. The Bills still played the MUCH better game, but it could have been closer than the score indicated. I still think by the end of the year, all 4 teams in the East will be within a game or three, and the Jets will be in last.

Scissorfight's not too bad ... not the best of the year, but they put on a decent show. And it's really cool how deep the Boston music scene's gotten again. It'll never be as good as it was in the early-to-mid 80's (e.g. Gang Green winning the RnR Rumble) but it's gotten really good again.
-
The good news: I got to watch most of his career (I was born in '74, so I was too young to appreciate the first few years). The bad news: Those years included watching him beat my beloved Bruins in TWO Stanley Cup finals.

Steve "Psycho" Lyons did as well ... it's got to suck when the two things that you're best remembered for are playing all nine positions in a game and dropping your pants while standing on first base. Nice career, Psycho.

Thicke - "When I Get You Alone"

Why should TNA care about taking the angle from ROH? They're not partners, they're just seperate leagues that happen to share some talent. If TNA realized after the fact that they'd be able to make some money or get some attention doing from this angle, then it's their prerogative to do so. Having said all that, I think that it's a much better idea to have someone like Punk do the honors of taking Raven's hair. It'll help elevate a younger talent. And it's not like Douglas-Raven have a huge history. If it was someone like Dreamer, then I'd have no problems with an older wrestler do the honors. But not Douglas.

Dallas Winston says it in the Outsiders, I stole it from him. And I've learned to take the Mr.Rant's thumbs down like a man for awhile now, so it doesn't phase me in the least. not that I want to be dragged into this quagmire of a conversation, but I can't believe after reading all the potshots taken at each other that no one made fun of Banky's ability to take another man's thumb like a man - in a downward motion, no less. Sounds WAY too homo-erotic for my liking, even on a wrestling message board.

I can ruin it for everyone by giving it away ... I thought I was being nice by NOT answering the puzzle. Just let me know if I'm supposed to answer the puzzle.

The HHOF hasn't inducted a goalie in 17 or 18 years, and with Roy going in as a shoo-in when it's his turn, there's no way that two goalies make it at the same time. So, Richter waits another year or two, and then runs the risk of competing with all the greats that are retiring now/soon taking the spots. So, yes to the US HOF, but no way to the HHOF. Unless it's much after his retirement. And I truthfully wouldn't call him a HOF-calibre goalie. Keep the Hall for the true greats, not the very goods.

It's good to see that I'm not the only one who's down on Lisa Guerrero - she's not that attractive and she seems kind of phony (like when you're drunk and you talk ... very ... slowly ... and deliberately ... to not ... slur your ... words - except she's not drunk, she's just worried about saying something incorrectly). Of all the better looking - and better speaking - women that they could have gotten to replace Stark, why did they choose Guerrero? (I mean, Sam Ryan already works for their company, and is much hotter)

What are the odds that the braintrust that came up with this angle had NO idea that the chants would take off, and it's yet another example of the fans improving the crap that their force feeding us all?

I have no problem going to "real" sporting events alone (e.g. hockey games) and concerts alone. I have no problems eating at restaurants alone or going to bars alone. But I just cannot imagine myself going to a pro wrestling event alone. Not condeming those that do, it just wouldn't be as much fun for me.

it's not a puzzle, it's a redneck joke.
