So, Leena <3's ARod? And, thanks for the info, al. I really have no issues with ARod. I know that it's sacrilige to be a Masshole and say that, but he's not the villain that everyone around here (meaning my hometown, not TSM) portrays him to be.

Al, where did you find those stats? I'm curious about his average with RISP or if he stacked those stats in blowouts compared to games that necessitated clutch play. I don't mean to sound like an ARod hater, but I feel like he's often produced big games when they weren't really as needed.

    The Hills Have Eyes

In the movie, they had to cut through a mineshaft to get from the main road to the 'town' that the mutants had been living in. My guess is that their homes were far enough away from where people had been attacked and cars had been abandoned that the mutants would be low on the suspect list. Plus, like El Satantico referenced, they're in the middle of nowhere ... with such a large area to cover, my guess is that the police presence is relatively minimal.

    The Hills Have Eyes

I actually kind of liked the new names for the mutants ... "Goggle" and "Lizard" were the two that stuck out in my mind. Not to over-analyze the movie, but one would think that in real life, the miners that remained would have still thought of themselves as relatively "normal" and thus would have had normal names. Why would a parent name their child after a planet or God, even if they'd been subjected to radiation (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all/most of the original mutants named after the planets & whatnot?) I think normal names, with nicknames that were applicable to their appearance was more sensible and, even though I hate to use the word for this movie, realistic.

    The Hills Have Eyes

If you weren't paying enough attention to catch simplistic plot points, don't bitch about the movie not giving you the plot points that you missed. They showed two dogs (conveniently named "Beauty" and "Beast" to make it easy to remember their names, and the number of them) repeatedly. And there was a whole opening montage about the effects of nuclear testing AND a scene when Big Bob sees the newspaper articles reviewing the fact that the miners refused to vacate their town and thus were subjected to radiation during & after the testing. Other than having someone sit next to you in the theatre and point these things out, they really couldn't have made it more obvious what was happening. I'm looking forward to the director's cut more after seeing the theatrical release. Like RedJed points out, they likely had to cut part of the rape scene, and likely some violence, to avoid the dreaded NC-17 rating. And how anyone was scared at all during this movie is surprising to me. Quick shadows running across the screen, and the subsequent <gasp> by the actor, isn't scary. It was a good horror movie, with lots of gore and violence (e.g. the gas station attendant's head after he shot himself) but it wasn't a scary movie in the slightest.

    Ashley Parker Angel

I saw the scene that naiwf referenced. The guy DOES come off like an uber-bitch, I mean, who DOESN'T throw a punch in that situation? You're in a bar, or then right out front of one ... the fight's going to get broken up by the bouncers in like 10 seconds. Worse case scenario is the other guy gets a few shots in on you, too ... it ain't gonna kill you. The best part is how APA brags to his boys about how he showed the guy by mouthing off to him once he was a safe distance away.

    Fridays

I classify all those places as "Generic American" food. Pretty much interchangable in terms of food, pricing, service, etc. I eat at Chili's or Friday's occasionally, but pretty much because of their locations. If I sit at the bar and eat there, instead of at a table, I find that I get better service. The food is pretty 'meh' but, I mean, I'm at a 'meh' restaurant. If I wanted good food, I'd go to a good restaurant.

Bergeron's the franchise right now. He's the player that they're (hopefully & presumably) building around ... he's not going anywhere. And I presume that they tried to move Murray, but he's got a big contract with a few years left on it & has proven that without a top-shelf center that he's not that great of a sniper.

    Girl Scout cookies are back

The little sharks now set up shop in the bank lobby, and take turns loitering in the ATM lobby & hit up people as they're getting money out, thereby eliminating the "I don't have any money on me" excuse. TG for headphones and loud music, completely drowning out their little "'scuse me, mister?" voices. Needless to say, nl5 isn't getting any girl scout cookies this year.

    Family Guy 3/12

I thought it was a good but not great episode ... like Mik said, I have a hard time remembering much that was really funny. The aforementioned death video was funny, and I liked the entire Wheel of Fortune skit. ("Is it Alex Karras in Webster?") But other than that, nothing especially funny or memorable happened.

If he really said that, I think that it's funny that TNA is referencing the fact that the WWE brought in Christian as Edge's "brother" even though Vince & Co. stopped acknowledging that years ago.

Things are so bad in Bruins-ville that even the local papers have turned on the team. According to the Globe, it wouldn't be surprising for the Bruins to go winless the rest of the season. (And they're even calling for not only MOC to get the pink slip, but Harry Sinden as well.) While even I think that going winless an exaggeration, I can say that the B's will be lucky to win half of their remaining games, and will be even luckier to be entertaining in any of them. Just a boring, disinterested team right now. And it kills me that this team has a very good (although overpaid) goal-scorer in Glen Murray but saddle him with piece o'crap linemates like Primeau, Reasoner or Czerkawski. That's like overpaying for a nice sports car and then putting cheap-ass cookie-cutter tires on it, and then complaining about how poorly it's running. Just a waste of money & talent. Either trade for a legit center to skate him with, or trade him.

    Wedding Crashers

I say, without any exaggeration or hyperbole, that The Wedding Crashers is one of the worst movies that I've ever tried to sit through. I found it painfully not-funny, and other than a few (literally two or three) small chuckles, sat there completely stone-faced, never once laughing with any real force. I couldn't even make it all the way through the movie before I shut it off and returned it to the kid that I'd borrowed it from.

Oh. That's news to me, and it explains why they kept him, so thanks, treble. Of course, I do have to wonder why a player would want to end his career on such a sour note ... wouldn't it make sense to take a trade to a contender & potentially get one more run in the playoffs?

    The Hills Have Eyes

I Saw it yesterday, and more people left mid-movie (out of boredom or disgust, I presume) than any movie I've ever seen in the theatre. It was one of the movies that I actually thought to myself, "I hope everyone in this movie dies at the end." I guess I thought it was Ok, but just Ok ... well, that's only partially true. I thought it was funnier than The Wedding Crashers, by a substantial margin, but I don't think that was the intentions. Oh, and Emilie de Ravin is reason enough to see this movie. She's painfully attractive.

TSM Poster Tournament IV: Round II

Kingofthe909 - Kot909 vs. Slayer was one of the two hardest match-ups. I really like both as posters, and ended up voting for King because it seemed that Slayer had this as an easy win. If it was more neck & neck, I really don't know what I'd have done. Seriously, no offense meant, Slayer. Zack Malibu - Even if I wasn't tight with Malibu, I'd have voted against ATS ... the dude accused me of being "gimmicky". Eh, who am I kidding, Malibu'd have gotten my vote regardless. Sass - Popick - Niskie - tough call ... I was tempted to vote lovecraft, since he voted for me ... but if I lost by one after voting against myself, I'd have been wicked disapointed. Thus, better safe than sorry. KOAB - kkktookmybabyaway - he's got SUCH a crush on me, it's not even funny. Damaramu - Meatwad - geniusmoment Carnival - Carnival's pretty much reinvented himself as a poster, in a good way. And that deserves to be recognized. Чэв Bob Barron KingPK Black Lushus - One of the best, most underrated posters around. Kotzenjunge - the other toughest match-up ... I ended up voting the same way that I did with the King/Slayer match-up. As of now, Czech's got a big-ass lead, and thus I'm casting my vote for the underdog. I really like & get along with both posters, though.

Yeah, Samsonov is most likely a rental player for the Oil. My guess is either Detroit or Chicago next season for him. And, no, I didn't expect Bergeron, Stoll, or Pronger for him. Then agian, I also didn't expect him to go to Edmonton. If the best offer they got was a 4th liner, an AHLer and a pick from the Oilers, they should have traded him to another team. And if there weren't any offers better than that, then the Bruins shouldn't have traded him at all ... especially if they're going to lie to their fans and pretend that they're still shooting for the postseason.

Try living in Boston. The only analogy I can use is Clemens is the girlfriend that broke Boston's heart by dumping it and dating the cool guy in school, so they had to see him all the time, and it was "I hate her!" even though they really didn't. Now that (s)he's a free agent (single) again, the city's all "maybe (s)he'll come back to us one more time!" even though it's obvious that it's not happening. It's embarassing.

The biggest name to hit ROH yet.

Christian's probably not a bigger name, but the fact that he's an active wrestler and a current world champ might carry more cache than the list of retired guys referenced in this thread. Eddie wasn't retired per-se, but at the time no one would have guessed that he had a run in him like the one that he ended up having.
