Oh, if I had a dollar for every time I've told someone that they're pulling my plonker, I'd be a rich, rich man.

Storied Franchises in Total Disarray

Czech, the Bulls championship win while you were in pre-school ... was that their first win or their last win? If it was their last win, then, yeah, I agree that it shouldn't count towards the championship success that you've seen in your lifetime. But if it was the first, or one of the first, then it should count, because it'd mean that your elementary school years were chock full o' success. Hell, I'm counting the Celtics wins, and those happened while I was between the ages of 7 & 11. I will give you the Cubs & (especially) the 'Hawks as being teams in disarray. But there are tons of NFL fans that'd love it if there teams made the playoffs as a top 2 seed twice in the last 5 years. And there are a shitload of cities that'd love to have 7 world championships in the last 15 years (6 for the Bulls, plus the WS win last year). -
With the current state of American hockey, they USOC would have been smart to take a team of amateurs or college players and not even bothered with the NHL'ers. The college kids would have no chance of winning a medal ... but it's not like the NHL'ers that are there have a real good chance, either. Give the kids a) the chance to live a dream ... and ... b) the opportunity to gain some int'l experience.

No, the extremely fat blonde girl with the glasses dropping her towel and having the other fat kids yell "I'm blind!" was much more entertaining than Camp Jim. Jim was good for a small role in the episode of Made that made him famous. But he was the worst part of the actual Camp Jim series. (the best part, obviously, was the group of HS girls that he was training).

See, there's a fine line with that cliche ... it still gets a big laugh out of people that don't get out much or hear funny things that frequently. To some people, the big laughs from these simpletons make saying it a risk worth taking.

Oh, and the six championships that Jordan & the others won in the last 15 years. -

While I'm not a huge fan of them, the Celtics would have to be considered for this. They were once the Yankees/Canadiens of the NBA, with more championships than the next two teams put together. And then they hit a 20 year drought without even a sniff at a title. Lowpoints have to include the ML Carr "Let's tank the season and get Duncan" era & the Rick Pitino "Let's sign as many questionable FA's and trade as many players before seeing what they can do" era. -
Before IDRM assaults me for bad mouthing the Duke, I should admit that I was just quoting the MDC song.

Does anyone know how long the 'hiatus' is? I've heard that it's only one repeat & I've heard that it's like a month ... does anyone know the real deal?

“the Messiah of the Backbreaker"?!? How stupid of a nickname is that?

To the people that think that Canada won't finish in the medals: what are you smoking, and where can I get some? As much as I'd love to see the Americans win a medal, I'd be beyond shocked to see them win even the bronze, let alone gold or silver. It's just not a good time for the US hockey program. The fact that Hal Fucking Gill is deemed worthy of being on the taxi squad shows how shallow the talent pool is.

^ Do you mean by being voted off, or by flipping out & quitting?

While I know that it'd be cost prohibitive, I really wish these DVD's were "a la carte" and you could just choose X number of matches. I'd like a one disc set with just some of those matches ... but there's no fucking chance I'd pay for a 4 disc Hogan set. I wouldn't watch a lot of those matches if they were on free TV some Saturday night, let alone pay good money for them.

What type of wrestling fans annoy you?
nl5xsk1 replied to milliondollarchamp's topic in General Wrestling
I agree with Hawk. And it's not just wrestling fans, I hate fans that are more concerned about being the entertainment & putting themselves over, rather than letting the match, game, whatever be the show. -
Luckily, Francine's only borderline a woman, so it's not that bad.

It's bittersweet for people that view the WWE belts as the ones worthy of "world" title status. I'm willing to wager that Christian does not view the WWE belts in that way.

Not for nothing, but Thomas was the MVP in the Finnish league that he played in before signing with the B's organization. I'm not saying that he's a lifelong superstar or that this recent hot streak will last the rest of the season, let alone beyond this year ... I'm just saying that it's not like he came from absolutely nowhere.

If the Freebirds get in before the Road Warriors, I'll be incredibly pissed off. Especially since it's in Chicago & all. Color me excited for the upcoming "deplorable" plans for the Eddie/Rey/Orton angle. Ivory doing a lesbian angle? Hawt. With Nicole Bass? Not hawt.

Quoting this because it's the most sensible thing said in this thread. Vince & company have no real reason to give a fuck about Eddie or his name or his legacy or what he would have wanted. In the end, he was just an employee that died. He wasn't family to them, he wasn't a lifelong friend, he was only a guy that worked for them for a half-dozen years or so. If people want to bitch & moan about how heartless or callous someone is, complain about Guerrero's widow. If someone wants to say how fucked up it is that people are pissing on Guerrero's name or legacy, say it's Rey.

So, I'm skimming through one of WP's recent posts & stumble across this declaration: Please tell me that TSM isn't considered one of the "marquee wrestling boards on the internet". Please, please, please tell me that it's all a gimmick poster's idea of a funny line.

I actually just saw Montoya in the AHL All-Star game skills competition earlier this week. He's playing reasonably well for Hartford, but not good enough to warrant even back-up status in the NHL at this point. The guy's not getting any younger.

I'm actually surprised that they were dropped: Iffy ring performance? Over the top, barely believable gimmick? Sounds just about right for the new direction of the WWE. Maybe if they'd been allowed to keep their original (OVW) personalities, they'd have had a better chance of sticking around.

I didn't even read a word of it, my friend. You lost me as a believer (and post-reader) when you talked about making out with your thumb for practice. Oh, and I'd presume that you would have had a nocturnal emission (like most males) long before you lost your virginity to a weight bench. I think I had my first one at like 12 or 13.
