I wasn't intending to 'call you out' on liking it, or anything like that spman. It just struck me as strange, even the people that I know that like the show keep saying it's pretty 'meh' lately. Like you said, though, it's a polarizing show: some people love it, some don't.

I thought the Simpsons was good ... not great, but better than it has been later. Family Guy was only redeemed by the Stewie/Brian sub-plot, and Quagmire's reasoning for going through their garbage (Lois' toenails). spman, did you really just say that King of the Hill has been consistently good for a few seasons? There're few shows on TV less humorous to me than that show.

So, I was checking out some silkscreens/posters to get as decorations for my apartment ... and I found a few that I really like (aesthetically) but the bands that are represented on the poster itself are bands that I either don't like, or don't know that well. Is it cheesy to get concert silkscreens for bands you don't like, if you like the artist & artwork? (for reference, the two posters that I'm most likely to get are nomeansno & Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The former I've heard and am pretty 'meh' about, the latter I've heard of but never actually heard.) EDIT: I worded that poorly; there are a few other posters that I might get, but I like the artwork AND the band, so it's not difficult for me to justify pulling the trigger on the purchase.

See, I was ready to give all the credit to Tim Thomas and his stellar play in net ... it turns out that the max's insomnia deserves as much credit as anyone. Kudos to you, the max. Zhamnov's injury has been good for the B's. His absence is giving more ice time to Boyes (who's playing very well) & Bergeron (who's the team's MVP at this point). Plus, it's really addition by subtraction to remove him from the line-up.

Shhhh, all you guys that are bringing reality & facts into this thread are pissing in Peja's sandbox. You're ruining his 'joke' with your reality.

WWE notes from Da Meltz on Figure Four Daily
nl5xsk1 replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
Not to pat myself on the back, but I've been calling for Hogan/Foley since the day that they announced the plans for Hogan/Austin. -
While I don't doubt that there is some legitimacy to it, I must admit that I find the "Hunter and Shawn view him as a threat" to be an IWC exaggeration. The guy's not going to walk in and immediately be immensely over, regardless of how great he was in ROH or in the indies ... maybe if/when he got to the Jeff Hardy level of over he'd be a threat, and those with political clout would view him as a threat and make moves to keep him down. But as an unknown, faceless entity to most of the fanbase, he's not much more of a threat than a TSM poster.

kkk NFL pick 'em playoff thread for both leagues
nl5xsk1 replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Sports
Barron, I see that you and I are the only two registered posters in this thread ... we shouldn't talk, the conspiracy theorists will be up in arms, thinking we're conspiring for something. On an unrelated note, look, there's a pile of money right there. That must have fallen out of your pocket. Why don't you keep it? Hopefully <wink, wink> it doesn't force you to forget to make your picks in time for the game. EDIT: I typo'ed games instead of just the singular 'game' ... as if there's more than one SB. EDIT, pt 2: Kot909 jumped in while I was typing and fixing my fuck-up. Joke's dead & buried (keep the money anyways) EDIT, pt 3: Kot909, if you'd rather take the bribe, the $$ is yours. -
Good call, I saw it twice in the theaters, a rare thing for me to do! One of my TA's from college was in Starship Troopers. From what I've heard they show her titties in a shower scene, but I've never bothered to watch the movie to get verification or not.

Yeah, I'd wait a few years before introducing the lil one to the world of Japan-imation if I were you, Lushus. It warped me as a teenager, Lord knows what it'd do to a little kid.

RRR, since I'm one of the ones that was disappointed by the lack of "Army stuff", I'll address what you said. I wasn't expecting the entire episode to be about them gearing up for war, or learning to shoot or rigging booby-traps and trip-wires. I was, however, expecting at least a scene with AL asking Jack, "Are you sure that this is something you want to do?" instead of a "You hittin' that?" conversation about Kate. They had such good momentum after that line a week ago; to not capitalize on that momentum at all seemed dumb to me, and detracted from the impact of the question. They did a better job of using the previous week's momentum last year than they are this year, IMHO.

That live action release was the biggest disapointment. I loved the animated version in my mescaline days, and was so stoked about a live action version ... and then I saw it. Ugh, was that painful!

True, but the question is still - why? I have to think that Locke has an agenda that partially involves Claire and Aaron, and he can't do anything about it with Charlie around. Playing "hit the Hobbit" with Charlie's face almost seemed like he was protecting his property - there was really no need for it, so what game is John playing here? Because no one else has looked him in the eye and lied to him. He treats others as they treat him; he's nicer to Hurley or Michael than he is to Sawyer, for example, but Sawyer isn't that nice to him. Charlie's the only one that told him that he wasn't using and that all of the statues were destroyed ... and yet Locke found him holding bags of H and with a cache of statues. While it's not proof that he's using, it's proof that he's thinking about it AND proof that he blatantly lied.

At least they'll all have company there.

When the NY Giants owner died, the team spent one week memorializing (not sure if that's even a real word, but you know what I mean). They didn't spend the rest of the season doing much in memory of him. When Eddie died, it made sense for Rey to dedicate a match to him. But it seems like he still tries to 'channel' Eddie's spirt to help him out ... and also encourages the fans to keep chanting his name. Yeah, Rey misses Eddie ... but life goes on. They should be doing more to discourage the link between Eddie & Rey, IMHO. I agree that Rey should win the Rumble and go on to wrestle for the belt at WM; but I really, really hope it's not all done 'for Eddie'. At least you're not biased at all, huh, Peja? Stellar first post.

As has been repeatedly pointed out, Mark Henry did not hurt Batista. It was a fluke thing ... nothing more, nothing less. There are countless reasons to fire him, but not protecting Batista isn't one of them.

I thought that last night's episode was good, but far from great. They seem unwilling (or unable?) to capitalize on the momentum from the previous episodes. They do a kick-ass episode about Eko ... and then don't show him for a second the following week. They end an episode with a borderline "Holy Shit!" comment about building an army ... and then Jack & AL are acting like it never happened. Charlie continues to be the least interesting character; at this point I'm apathetic about him or his drug usage or his ability to get Claire & the baby back. Am I the only one that doesn't think that Locke's changed that much? This 'heel turn' theroy doesn't float with me. He was casually watching the Charlie incident because he likes to let people figure out resolution for themselves. His M.O. isn't to just tell people what to do, but instead help people figure out what to do on their own. Having said that, I will say that his relationship with Charlie has changed, but I think that's because Locke's disappointed in Charlie for not staying clean and for lying to him. With most other scenarios, he's able to stand back and view things impartially ... but Charlie made it personal, and after getting lied to by everyone in 'real life', Locke's having a difficult time staying calm, cool, & collected after Charlie was dishonest. I think that he beat down Charlie because of that fact: he was hurt & angry about getting lied to. I couldn't disagree more. He's not a dick to anyone but Charlie, and that - in my opinion, and as I already said - is because it's more personal with Charlie. Locke still treats everyone else the same way he always has.

My dislike of Sean Penn isn't really political. I'm pretty apathetic what celebrities think of politics. My dislike of Sean Penn is based around his considering himself 'above' people talking about the Jeff Spicoli character. The guy was in a stoner movie 2 decades ago, long before he was really famous ... and now that he's famous for more serious roles he refuses to speak about it. Allowing people to speak about now that he is famous won't detract from his body of work. It makes him come across as a pompous prick. Sorry to threadjack the Chris Penn thread for this post ... carry on.

^ You didn't declare your hatred of me, either, kkk ... I think maybe you ARE losing your edge.

I was going to make a crack along the lines of, "That's not the cast member of Corky Romano that I would have chosen." ... but your "wrong Penn" joke is sooo much better, my joke would have been out of place. Vyce wins the thread.

WP, while I appreciate your willingness to share, can we leave stories about dreams out of the LOST thread?

I don't mind it for special players/circumstances ... I didn't mind it with Jackie Robinson or Wayne Gretzky, but as awesome as Lemieux is/was, I don't think of him as worthy of a league-wide number retirement. This is what should happen: the teams should unofficially retire 66. Nothing formal, no 66 up in the rafters in all the buildings. Just a simple, unspoken understanding that no one will wear that number again.

There was a time that this stable would have made sense. The fans wouldn't have jumped up and complained about it right away; the Spirt Squad would have gotten heel heat by acting like heels. They would have a run with moderate success (maybe even substantial success, if they got over enough) and then would implode and feud with each other. A few would stay as a team, a few would become singles stars, and one would join a team with some random wrestler. The whole stable would be a means to the end. Now that wrestling is 'smart' (and now that the writers lack the continuity to plan out the A, B, C steps that I just referenced, that have been used in wrestling for decades) ... people pan it the minute it's announced, the fans turn on it and give it "x-pac heat" (man, do I hate that cliche) and it's dropped quickly without much thought to why/what/what-could-have-been.

And it's probably a girl. (HAHA, FEMALE TENNIS PLAYERS HAVE BALLZ LOLZ0RZ) ...omg wtf? Does Renee Richards count? I'd dangle from Hantuchova's labia ... if that counts for anything.
