    New Girl....

He's stealing my gimmick! It's time you evolved as a poster, Slayer. You're too strong to stay with one gimmick for too long. EDIT: And you make me e-blush with your kind words, Kotz.

    Hostel:

I'm slowly increasing my DVD library, and got the three Dead Or Alive movies as a present from a now-ex girlfriend. The first was good, the second very good, and I've heard so many sketchy reviews about the 3rd I haven't bothered to see it yet. Izo I saw in the theatre, at a small movie place in Harvard Square. It was just 'meh' (the Sapp appearance was one of the most memorable things about the movie). The next time I'm at Newbury Comics (which is where I buy most of my 'out there' DVD's) I'll check out if they have Versus or Oldboy. If they're as good as you say, I'm sure they'll purchase. And I can't say that I've seen anything by Takashi Kitano. We might have to stop talking, you're making a list of 'movies to see' too long for me to deal with.

Carson Palmer's injury could be career threatening

I see your point, and obviously it's more fun to go see a winning organization compared to a losing one. It just sucked to have had such fun going to Pats games in the late 80s/early 90s (as much for the tailgating & throwing a football around as the game itself, although it was always fun heading into the game and watching them try and win a game) and now have going to games be way too cost prohibitive to be worthwhile. I went to the season finale. And between the ticket, parking, and three beers at the game spent over $200.00. And that doesn't include the beers & food for tailgating. Just astronomically expensive. I was happier when the Pats sucked and the cost would have been half as much.

I feel like this is an interview, but have you seen either Dead Or Alive 2 (which I preferred to the original) or Izo (which was the least entertaining Miike movie that I've seen)? I haven't seen Oldboy, but I've heard nothing but good things so would like to check it out. It sucks, there's nowhere around here to rent these movies, so I end up buying them and hoping that they're good enough to own and re-watch a few times to justify the $$. Versus, I don't even know if I've heard of. That movie appearing in the Bravo special was the worst thing that ever could have happened to it. It became a movie that everyone needed to see, but the one twist to it all had been spoiled by that very appearance on Bravo. It's a good movie, but just a disappointment to so many people with such high expectations.

    TRUTH

I started with Reds because I was a skinhead and that's what all the other male skinheads smoked. The byrds (skinchicks) all smoked Camels. In retrospect I wish I'd started with something a bit milder, because I had grown so accustomed to the harsh burn of the Red that when I'd bum a non-Red off people, it didn't really feel like smoking.

Quasi-thread jack, but since you referenced slitting wrists, it might be appropriate: I hooked up with a cutter (well, an alleged reformed cutter) on Friday night. I was at a bar in Harvard Square and was alternating between talking to my friends and chatting up the stranger sitting next to me. I don't remember actually saying it, but I guess I told my friend, "I want to lick her scars" in a voice loud enough for her to hear. And evidently it piqued her interest. Chalk one up for disgusting requests working as a pick-up line.

    NHL Thread

Change the "or" to "and" in between the names Murray and Leetch, Kot909. I'm presuming that both will be moved. As much as I love Murray, it's been pretty obvious that without a playmaking center behind the net or at the half-boards feeding him the puck, he's not as good of a scorer as he seemed. And MOC was smart enough to trade the only player that fit that description. Move Murray to open up some cap space for the future. And while Leetch is only a one-year deal (so it's not like he's an albatross on the cap <coughZHAMNOVcough>) he deserves to have one more run in the playoffs. It'd be fitting to trade him to the Rangers, to let him end the career in NY. But, knowing MOC he'll be moved to a team that's nowhere near a playoff spot, for an overpaid player that has like 3 years left on his contract. I wouldn't mind seeing the B's start their rebuilding process with Boyes, Bergeron, Samsonov & Sturm as the prime forwards, and Stuart, Boynton, Alberts & Jurcina on the blue line. Keep Hannu as the goalie and get a veteran back-up to play 25 or 30 games next year & mentor Toivonen.

    The Office, Season Two

I thought last night's Office was the funniest one that I'd seen all season (admittedly, though, I haven't seen that many episodes.) Dwight throwing up on his back window after the car crash had me literally laughing out (which I very rarely do) and Michael defining the rules of "shotgun" was a riot. Very, very good episode.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

RE: The Bills position. A coach would have to be nuts to take that position without absolute confirmation that Levy's not going to be a back-seat coach, interfering with the players or play calling. RE: The Chargers keeping Rivers. Hopefully they're just keeping him until the preseason, and if/when it's verified that Brees is 100% they'll move him then. They could probably get a 2006 draft pick if they traded him now, but there's a good chance some team will lose their QB in the preseason and be willing to give up a 2007 pick or two for Rivers at that time.

I think most people are apathetic about me, Hoff. There's probably a few that really dislike me. And fewer that really like me. Most people probably don't care for me one way or another. Except for kkk: he likes me in a creepy SingleWhiteFemale kind of way.

Carson Palmer's injury could be career threatening

This is more of a bandwagon post rather than a Bengals/Carson Palmer post, but ... The reason that I dislike the bandwagon jumpers is very selfish: when the Pats sucked, it was easy to get tickets. Not many people want to go to see a 4 win team on a cold December Sunday. Now that they're a double-digit win team, even the late season games get a good turnout. I'm also looking forward to the day that the Red Sox fall to mediocrity again. I like going to Fenway; I don't like going when tickets are outrageously expensive and the ballpark is full of dude-guys and frat-boys that are there only to chant "Yankees Suck" in their A-Rod Swallows t-shirts.

    New Girl....

I agree that Carnival is partially at fault for posting the pictures online without their permission. But it'd be like if you told a friend a secret, and directly asked him not to tell anyone. If that friend goes and blabs to everyone, yeah, shame on you for trusting them. But shame on them for not living up to the trust. I'm not going to go back and re-read this entire thread to verify it, but I'm pretty sure that Carnival asked people not to contact them and fuck around with them. And people still did. So, the blame pie chart would be like 10% Carnival and 90% Frigid, IMHO.

    New Girl....

Maybe I stay so secretive because I'm disliked. But then again maybe I'm disliked because I stay so secretive. Maybe I'm just generally not well received. I vote for option 3.

    New Girl....

I strongly agree with TCR's answer to this question. While we're all technically strangers, we're pretty much acquaintences on the board, and thus are supposed to be able to trust each other the way real-life acquaintences would. And it's stupid shit like contacting the girl that's made me keep most things about my real life a secret. I was a member of this board, and the various satellite boards, for almost 4 years before I even admitted my real first name, let alone my last name or where I live or where I work or posted pictures of myself or anything like that.

Carson Palmer's injury could be career threatening

I'm not going to bother quoting the whole article for my response but this post is in response to the article that Kaertos posted ... How come the only people that are adamant about it being a cheap shot are Bengals fans & their local media? The worst I've heard from the (presumably impartial) national media is "questionable" and even that is the opinion of the minority. Was it a perfectly clean hit? No. But that doesn't necessarily make it a dirty hit, either. The world isn't all black & white, there are shades of gray. This hit falls into the shade of gray category in my eyes.

Nice bounceback game for the B's, way to show that your embarrassment after getting manhandled by the Sharks. While I fully agree with max (that the fact that the team didn't show up last night is indicative that Sullivan isn't motivating them at all), in my eyes, MOC is more to blame than Sullivan. I'm sure the latter is every bit as frustrated with the shitty team he has to work with as the fans are. I'm not saying that the coach shouldn't be fired, I'm just saying that MOC should be fired at the same time as Sully. I think back to the last season, and the B's good record. I never got the impression that they won BECAUSE of him & his coaching. They won because their goalie was standing on his head night in/night out and because they had 2 very good lines. Now that their goalies have been shaky (although Hannu has been playing well lately) and he doesn't have a single solid line to send out, Sullivan's shortcomings as a coach are being exposed. Allegedly they had a closed door meeting last night after the game, and the veterans gave a pep-talk. I picture the likes of Fitzgerald and McEchern (combined season stats: 58 games, 3 goals, 12 points, and a -19 +/-) standing up and preaching to the young guys, trying to motivate them to win. If those two wanted to do what's best for the team, they'd euthanize Zhamnov and then both retire. (hopefully Zhamnov's death would mean that the team didn't have to pay him anymore). Raycroft won't be a one-year wonder, I don't think, but only IF the B's trade him before his confidence is shot to hell. He's a good, young goalie. Trade him to a veteran laden team, with a veteran goalie in front of him to mentor him for a season or two, and I think that he'll be a good #1 goalie for a long time. Keep him here in the line of fire, though, and he's done within 2 or 3 years.

Carson Palmer's injury could be career threatening

I'm pretty sure Harrison's injuries were comparable to Palmer's, and the main reason that his were noted as potentially career-threatening was because his age.

I'm pretty sure that they showed Jack shaving in season 1. There's nothing to be gained by showing characters shave or brush their hair. Conceivably, one could ask, "don't these people ever go to the bathroom?" since they don't show that, either. It's a TV show that only shows what's relevant, and shaving or brushing hair isn't that relevant to the story at hand.

What's your stance on Battle Royal, K? I liked it, but after hearing so much about it on the net before seeing it, I was a bit disappointed. I mean, it was good, but the shocking great flick that it had been hyped to be. (kind of like Audition, I guess. I expected to be in awe after that, too. Liked it, but didn't love it.)

    Wu Tang Clan

ODB's solo stuff was pretty painful to sit through, though. Brooklyn Zoo wasn't too bad, but N**ga Please? Ugh, just painful. I liked ODB as part of the whole, when he could drop a few lines and then disappear again ... not as the entirety of the project.

    NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round

Took the words right out of my mouth. It's a shitload easier to play QB when your RBs are picking up 7 or 8 yards on 1st & 2nd down, leaving you with 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 3. If the Pats front 7 can hold down the RBs, we'll see how competent the Snake is.
