    I'm Back.

I'd be pleased if this was the real Mike, and that he was allowed back. I don't agree with his viewpoints much but it's bush league to ban people that don't really deserve it.

    NFL Playoffs

The fact that one game can really sway a teams points for/points allowed standing shows how worthless that stat is. I mean, at one point didn't Green Bay have horrible won/loss record but a positive +/- because of that one huge win, when they won by 49? The fact of the matter is New England has historically not won or lost by huge margins. I'm actually surprised that their +/- was as high as it was for the Super Bowl runs. Yes, they finished 10-6, but I really doubt that they were trying to win the Miami game on Sunday. The media asked Cassell about that horrible 2-point conversion attempt (that missed the guy by like 6 feet) and he said that with the weather, being nervous, etc etc, he just couldn't make the pass. He was then asked how he made the TD pass just before that play, with complete accuracy & velocity ... he was quiet a second and then said, "my hands were sweaty". I really get the impression he was told to make it look good, but not too good. No reason to go to OT and risk a worst-case-scenario. Just getting to the playoffs was all that they wanted, not necessarily the #3 seed. You know what pisses me off about the sarcasm about Pats fans? The first thing is that it's true that there are a sickening number of New England fans that think that way and are loud and obnoxious about saying so. The second thing is that it drowns out the sane, normal fans who aren't idiots and assholes. (I like to think that I'm one of the latter. I fully admit bias, but I don't think that I'm a "Bruschi is teh greatest evah. Belichick should be on Mt Rushmore." kind of biased.)

    ESPN Insider...

It's funny to have Gammons, who is truly the most reasoned voice around here, blow smoke up a blowhard like Ryan, that very few people take seriously. If it wasn't for Shaughnessey (spelling?) Ryan would probably be viewed with much more disdain in Boston. But, luckily for him, there's a public enemy #1 to take all the heat. I'd think that making a huge trade within the division would help increase the home attendance at these games. It'd give the O's fans a reason to go to the games, at least. EDIT: And thanks for posting this, SJ. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but it's interesting to read what Gammons has to say on things.

pictures of Brock Lesner in Japan

I guess the fact that it says "Bernard" in the jpg URL should have been a hint, eh, Cameron? Thanks.

Hey, that dude looks like Bud Bundy! I wonder if he knows? If he does, why hasn't he mentioned it to anyone?!?

    David Lee Roth Radio Show

Stern hasn't been listenable for YEARS. As soon as he amped up the "I'm the creator of talk radio. Before me there was nothing. The government is after me and me alone" bullshit, he stopped being entertaining and just became another media blowhard.

    Emo/Punk/Pop Rock stuff...

I'm sad, I just went to the bostonbeatdown page, to try & C&P some of the good FSU stories from their message baord ... and it's been disabled. Boo-urns. Most of my "favorite" FSU stories were found there, with the idiots bragging about beating the hell out of people for the fun of it, even though the kids that were getting beaten were doing next-to-nothing to deserve their asskicking. Oh, such a MENSA convention. Laz, didn't they just say that it was "Friends Standing United" because they were catching shit from the police & mass media for the beatings? They were getting classified as a street gang because of it all, and had to put a positive spin on their scene. I mean, they're pretty much the only reason that hardcore shows were (are?) banned in Boston. FSU has never, and will never, be a friendly group of guys (except to other FSU members).

    Scrubs season 5

I know I'm going to get an Arrested Development-esque "You have to watch the show consistently for a while to really get it" response, but I tried watching this (again, for like the 3rd time) and just don't find it funny at all.

    The Commandant

Who would win in a match: Uncle Cletus or Uncle Zebekiah? Actually, Dirty White Boy vs. Dirty Dutch Mantell would have been a halfway decent match, if both were in their primes. (Man, did I have the hots for the Dirty White Girl back in the day. I admit that I was a horned-up 13 year old, but still .........) And Sir Oliver Humperdink, in my mind, should be best known for managing Lord Humongous, when it was Sid Eudy portraying the character. The WCW & WWF versions sucked compared to the Florida & Mid-South versions.

    WON Notes for Jan 3rd

They can do a remake of Weekend at Bernies. Florida was pretty extreme back in the day, and Sullivan used to smack the crap out of his women as part of the angle. So, I wouldn't be surprised if FA or Luna took reasonable bumps, especially for that era. I've said it before: Hogan/Foley (as Cactus Jack) makes as much sense as anything. One is the politician that wouldn't lay down for anyone (unless it helped him in the long run), the other was a relatively altruistic wrestler that did what was right for the company. Plus, both could shill their side projects (Hogan Knows Best DVD, and Foley's book-of-the-year). And, if nothing else, Foley could probably carry Hogan in the promos & match, something that Austin couldn't do at this point.

    David Ortiz completely humiliated

Y'know, when I read your last post, Shooting, I thought that you were saying that Ortiz had said that fucking a male cousin is Ok. Not that there's anything wrong with homosexuality (or incest) but I was a bit creeped out by his assertion. Needless to say, I'm a bit more comfortable with the understanding that that's not what Ortiz did to be humiliated.

Most forgettable stint in a promotion

I might be wrong, but I think he was the AWA TV Champion post-NWA reign & pre-WWF run.

    Moderator Change. Part 3.

Charmed isn't silent enough. If I could just watch the girls and not have to listen to th... nah, nevermind. I still wouldn't watch that crap. And, kkk: best nl5 putdown in a long while. You've been slacking lately, just going for the easy ones. Maybe 2006 will be a good year for nl5 hatred.

    Look at this.

"Look at this" reminds me of that frat guy game where one is supposed to get his fellow greeks to look at his hands, below the belt, making the 'OK' gesture with his thumb and forefinger. If you can get the guy to look at said gesture, you get to punch them in the shoulder. Never played it personally, but sat and watched frat guys play while at college. I felt like Jane Goodall, sitting so close to the primates and watching them interact but really not understanding why or how.

    David Lee Roth Radio Show

DLR's show was so bad it was good. (Compared to Stern's, which at the end was so bad it was just unlistenable). Roth's show sounds painfully like a Mad TV skit, with pretty much every radio jock stereotype & cliche in full effect.

    Emo/Punk/Pop Rock stuff...

The Northeast, particularly NYC, is overrun with FSU (Fuck Shit Up), pretty much the most belligerent and piece-of-shit skinhead gang around. I've seen groups of them beat people down for having the audacity to <gasp> go and buy a shirt during a hardcore bands' set. Not to get on my old man 'back-in-my-day' high horse, but back in my day, being in the pit was a safe & fun thing. You didn't punch higher then chest level, you didn't purposely punch or kick anyone, and if someone hit the ground you helped them up. Nowadays it's the exact opposite: you try to see how many noses you can bloody or how many people you can stomp. Idiots.

Who Thinks Countess Vaughn Is Fat?

She's fatter now than she was in either of those pictures. Yes, she's fat ... especially for Hollywood. But, no, she's not fat enough to appear on that POS VH1 show. I mean, she's not Bruce Vilanche fat.

    NHL Thread

While I don't disagree that Ovechkin - on paper - is more valuable to the Caps than pretty much anyone else is to their team ... the fact is that Washington would still be in the same place in the conference without him: damn near the bottom of the conference. If they were even remotely in the playoff hunt the argument would hold up better. But the truth is you can't give the MVP of a last place team the Hart. I'm going to Thursday's B's-Sens game ... what are the odds that Ottawa will be a little pissed about getting embarrassed in Atlanta and unleash the hounds on the B's? Knowing Sullivan, he'll start Raycroft and watch him get shelled.

    BWO "A New Foundation" 1/21/06

How lazy does one have to be to just quote their own post from the week before? If you can't even bother to C&P - let alone <gasp> type up something else - why should anyone even pretend to care?

    First RAW of 2006 Thread

Yeah, you're right: with a convincing arguement like that, how could anyone even bother with a retort? Small? "Benjamin should be on teh roids, then he'd be awesome!" Jebus, man, Benjamin is normal sized ... how you could say he's small is beyond me.

WWE needs to keep the title on John Cena

Kind of unfair to say that since his neck was fucked up. I didn't read it as being a knock against Austin the worker or Austin the person ... just an example that a champ doesn't have to be putting on ****+ matches each night to have a moneymaking or successful title reign.

19 yr old fucks mom's corpse

See, I dig writing in haiku, since it's a challenge to follow the 5-7-5 format and still have it all make sense and look/sound good. The gimmick poster did a piss-poor job of having it look/sound good. A for effort - D for execution.
