Consider me happily not hated. I'm with you, RRR ... I dig the flashbacks. This last one (Ana Lucia) was one of the few that I wasn't into, and that was more-so because I wasn't able to sympathize with her. The only thing her flashback showed me was that she was a cop in her 'former life' (which explained her role as the alpha male of the rear-enders) ... it didn't force me to become any more interested in her as a character. Every other flashback added to the character that they were flashing back to, for me.

I can think of a guy from the 1980's that needed help from his 'cousins' to win a lot of matches ... he seemed to be a pretty good heel.

I opened and read this thread.

First of all, was there anything in Ana Lucia's story that was supposed to make us sympathize or empathize with her? It told us why she's a badass, but didn't make her any more likable. There has to be a reason for that, methinks. And re: the questions that some people are looking for ... I'll reiterate what I've said before. Do you read skip ahead until the end of a book to see how it ends? Do you fast forward through a movie to see how it ends? I presume the answer is no to both questions, so I'll ask this: why are people so bent on finding out the answers. Enjoy the journey, and we'll find out what's up when they want us to. If the fact that they haven't walked back to the ship - or crying because a guy that they pretty much had just met died - is stopping you from enjoying this show, maybe you should find something else to watch at 9:00 pm Eastern each Wednesday.

Hopefully it's not because I facetiously called him a buzzkill in the WWE folder.

Wow ... I kind of wish I never asked now. I feel kind of vacant, since it's been there a while.

Hmm, I wonder why? BTW, IDRM, is the period in your name new, or am I just noticing it?

"Bearded Lex Luger" sounds like a euphemism for genitalia, a la "Bearded Clam". +1

I couldn't agree more. A chair shot used to mean a guy was going to be stretchered out. Now it's basially a transition move. I really don't think they can flip a switch and all of a sudden stop blading or doing big bumps. But they can start it as a long, gradual process, with this match having less blood or a less-staggering high spots than previous HIACs, and then the next one having less than this one, etc etc.
-
True. But the line should be drawn at some point, and they really should start transitioning away from the blood & big bumps ... for the safety of their wrestlers if nothing else.

I believe that I'm the "dude" in question. And I'll just C&P what I wrote, since my point wasn't recognized: Wrestling existed for a long time without bumps and buckets of blood, and still found a way to showcase the intensity of a match. My point is simple: people should be able to see that the wrestlers are badly beaten, even if they're not blading or flinging themselvs off a cage or stage. Sell a move, limp, just do the small things to show how hurt you are. Kind of like a football player at the end of the game; even though they're not covered in blood, I have no doubts that they're in major pain. Lushus snaked in a response while I was typing mine. Let me address that: they're doesn't need to be buckets of blood or a Foley-esque bump. The first Michaels/Taker HIAC wasn't a bloodbath and people saw how brutal that was.
-
I don't think big bumps and blood are necessary in a match. Wrestling existed for a long time without bumps and buckets of blood, and still found a way to showcase the intensity of a match. The best thing that could happen to wrestling would be a decrease in the bumps and blood ... it'd make the two things more meaningful again.

So, in your mind, the local sports 'personalities' should ignore them until they win a playoff series? Bullshit. Their job is to report the news (bad AND good) and cover all the local teams. Not just the Red Sox, and to lesser extent the Pats. And it's not just the B's. What's the excuse for them ignoring the Celtics? Or BC football or basketball or hockey? Or the Beanpot? Seriously, don't get me wrong, KingPK ... MOC has proven to be a GM so inept that I'm actually pining for the return of Sinden to the position. (and I feel dirty for even typing that). And I have no issue with people calling out the Bruins management & players for playing so poorly. My issue is with everyone, from Ordway & company down to most of the fans, completely ignoring the team when they're doing well and then tripping over their dicks to make comments when the team is doing well.

Czech just won this thread. I thought that I had it with the Owen's Playing Possum, but Czech came out of nowhere and scooped the W.

^ Should shave the 'stache, or keep it as the beard. EDIT: Wow, that's a tiny pic

I don't think so, but the only thing that was stopping them before was the fact that Sting wasn't feeling it. It'd be big money for Vince, so I don't see why he wouldn't act on this opportunity.

And the next piece of crap from WWEShopzone is...

So, they used Stacey's image in place of the "Torrie Wilson token diva' spot, eh? -

The glorious power trip?

^ I agree ^ But I also think that the re-banning should be a swift one if the PBP hasn't improved and is still piss-annoying.

I don't know how much of it is her own personal doing, and how much is her being told what to do, but Candice has done more of the little things needed to make her seem like a heel in the last few weeks than any male wrestler I can think of. Lying on the ropes, stepping on Mickie James on her way out of the ring, etc ... I've always been a fan of the little things, and she seems to be one of the only ones that's doing them. Of course, with Candice, I'm also a fan of the big things, too.

But I've seen an interview where Brian Baker calls Pepsi "rat poison" and other than the famous picture of the entire band (when they were still a 4-piece) that has Brian sitting on the box of Pepsi, everything else I've seen of Minor Threat was pro-Coke (the drink, not the drug). EDIT: Google is my friend: http://www.dementlieu.com/~obik/arc/dc/minort_tg20.html

Zack's a buzzkill.

Does Vince own the UWF footage? I'd rather have footage of Sting as a Blade Runner, managed by Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert and feuding with Williams & Dibiase, than footage of him as Crow-Sting.
