Comments that don't warrant a thread

Bruiser, they have a dress code while at work ... the uniforms they wear during games. The league is trying to tell them how to dress before and after work. Using your analogies, it'd be like McDonald's telling the grease pit guy how to dress while driving to work, or Trump telling his employees what to wear over their suit while taking the subway to work. Personally, I wear a pretty scummy hooded sweatshirt over my shirt & tie to work almost every day ... and I'm sure my bosses don't love it, but they really can't do anything about it. Having said all that though, Camby can go suck a dick for saying that they should get a clothing allowance. How about using part of that multi, multi-million dollar salary to buy a few nice suits?

    NFL Week VII

Lushus, people here (in Massachusetts, not TSM) are tripping over their dicks to rush and celebrate his return. Unless he can play CB, RB or O-line, he's not going to help the Pats fill their biggest holes. Yes, having him back will enable them to move Beisel to the bench and Brown to the bench and/or the OLB spot that fits him better ... but he's not going to turn around this D by any stretch of the imagination. As a Pats fan I'd much rather see Seymour or Harrison back in the line-up than Bruschi (yes, I know I'm comparing apples to oranges injuries-wise). My personal belief: he's healthy enough to come back (per his doctors) and obviously wants to come back, so I have no issue with him doing so. Having said that, though, I don't think he should come back ever. Only one pro athlete has ever come back and regained top form after suffering a stroke, and that 'athlete' was a rodeo guy. Bruschi's got a lot of living left to do outside of football. Coming back might be what he wants to do, but I don't think it's the right decision.

    Funny Drunk/High/Drugged Up Stories

I'm guessing that the story is true, but the part of them never being closer as a team might be a lie.

    LOST

Since it's already happened, I'm not going to bother with the spoilers ... but I think that there is some disagreement about what Walt says. Some places online have it as "Don't push the button. The button's bad." Others have it as "Push the button. No button's bad." I think the former is accurate, but with this show you never know.

^ Yeah, I'm looking forward to tonight's game ... the B's are playing like a completely different team now than they were in game 1 (OTT debacle excluded). Should be a fun game

    The Power is Back?

Maybe they mean "Polish Power" Ivan Putski ... I'd rather have him back than any of the McMahons.

    Brett Hull retires

I'm going to say St Louis as well ... Dallas would be second. I really don't think of his time as a Wing as being that memorable, so they're a distant 3rd. It sucks for him that he didn't retire at the end of the last season, it would have been a more fitting way/time to retire. Hanging up the skates 2 weeks in the season because you're not pulling your weight ... not a glorious way to go out.

Are hosts becoming too hyperbolic these days about

While I don't necessarily agree with this assessment 100%, I do agree that the media is too bent on making current players, games, whatever to be "the best ever".

^ There is literally no player in NHL history that I hate more than Ulf. Not even close. /and I mean literally in the accurate definition of the word. Not the way Gorilla Monsoon used it.

Wait, on a team with Hal Gill & PJ Axelsson, you'd pick Joe as your least favorite Bruin?!? I can understand that he hasn't lived up to the expectations, but he's better than that 6'7" statue that waves at forwards as they race passed him towards the net.

    NHL Thread

I was going to make the joke that the B's don't last long enough in the postseason for him to do what he does best (score big goals in the playoffs) ... but the obvious rebuttal is that if they had someone that scored those big goals, they'd go deeper. Still, I'd have a hard-ass time rooting for a player like him.

Max, you'd really root for Claude? I hated him enough that even if he had become a B, I still wouldn't have been able to root for him. He's one of three players that are beyond liking (Brashear is one, and Ulfie is obviously the third). Roenick's quickly become someone that's near that list, too.

This thread is teh awesome ... it went from annoying to mildly amusing and then back to annoying and then back to mildly amusing. Two thumbs up.

    Linda McMahon has been stunned.

I'm actually pretty apathetic to how stupid it looked. I find it funnier that Linda fucked up the climax of an allegedly memorable moment.

    Vince Russo On JR

But he grew up listening to Mets games, which in my eyes equates to him liking the Yankees now because they're the better team. He'd be a Mets fan if they hadn't sucked for the past 2 decades. And does Russo now think that wrestling's real? They didn't do shit to JR in real life(that I know of) ... they used him in an angle. Big deal.

New Warriors Film To Be Different?

I tried to read the long quote ... all it looked like to me was Over and over and over again. Thanks, but no thanks. Why can't Hollywood go back to making shitty new movies instead of making shitty bastardized versions of classic movies?

20 Ways To Mess With Telemarketers

I actually worked as a telemarketer for a few months, about 2 years ago. One of the best jobs I've ever had: no stress, most of my coworkers were young hotties, and they paid me no matter how well or poorly I did (I obviously got more for generating leads, but I was getting more than enough as a base salary). Pretty much anything that a customer tried to do to piss me off failed. The stupid shit like 'can I call you at home?' is NOT a good comeback. It's easy enough to say "you can reach me at the following number", and then just provide your work extension. If they try to say, "well you're calling me at home, that's not fair", then you just ask if they'd prefer that you call them at work. Giving the phone to a little kid is a RIOT, not a bother. I had no issues talking to a child for 10 minutes about how it's a great time to refinance their mortgage. But the worst one is the one that the woman suggested ... keep talking for a long time?!? WTF. You're pissed that someone bothered you by calling, so you're going to waste MORE of your time by talking to them for a long time? Good plan, genius. Best way to get rid of them: No thanks, and please add me to the no-call list. Most telemarketers legally have to abide by your request. Better to just do that than to 'piss them off'.

LotC ... it's only been a few episodes, not even a month yet. It's too soon in the new season to be bumping people off. Methinks the death will happen in November, for sweeps week.

Songs Stuck in Your Head Today

Joy Division - "24 Hours" (the live version) ... it's the first song I heard this morning, and that's normally all it takes to get it stuck in my head for the rest of the work day. After work I listen to music pretty much constantly, so whatever I'm listening to that minute will over-ride what was stuck there.

    Old school upsets...

^ Was the first one that popped into my mind. Rick Steiner winning the TV belt off of Rotundo when he first broke from the Varsity Club was the second.
