And while I hate the long wait between series, I prefer that method to what the NBA does. There will be some basketball match-ups in which the teams have played two games before other series' have even begun. I'll take a few days wait over that debacle any day.

Detroit & Pittsburgh, both in 6 games. Detroit is just better than Dallas, and I can't see them losing more than 2 games this series. And Philly's run has been impressive, but I'm not sure if Biron can keep playing at this level, and if it's a high-scoring series, I can't see Pittsburgh losing it, "7 20 goal scorers" or not.

I don't think a GM would make a move like that. It's one thing to really want a guy, and potentially be willing to overpay him to fill a need. But if the main reason is to just fuck with a GM for payback, or as punishment for a perceived deviation from a "gentlemen's agreement", it's bad business. Having another team add extra salary AND lose draft picks? Win/win.

TimThom didn't start the ASG; he played the third period. And was something like the 6th option for the East, he only went because Brodeur pulled out and <someone who escapes me> didn't want to go because of a family obligation. Don't get me wrong, though, if I had to make a list of the reasons my beloved B's made the postseason, Timmy Thomas' play would be a definite #2 ... just behind the coaching of Claude Julien (insert smiley face here) And "disrespectful"? You're the one that told me to fuck off, not the other way around! Having said that - jokingly, I must add - I'm from Boston, of COURSE I'm disrespectful. That's how we're raised around here. (insert another smiley icon here, to reiterate that I'm busting balls good-naturedly)

Isn't Pat Burns still part of the "New Jersey Family"? I know he's working as a scout (or something comparable) and had thought that he'd declined the chance to interview with other teams in the past. Not sure if it's true or not, but for some reason I remember reading that he was content with his role with the Devils organization.

Either it's a subtle way of addressing that fact, or it's the same bullshit, heavy-handed "Jack's the tough alpha male" crap that they've forced upon us for the past few seasons. In your theory, was Jack's father never dead, or did he come back to life upon crashing on the island? Because I think even Australia confirms if someone's dead before notifying their next-of-kin that they need to claim a body and bring it back to the States.

I figure it's best if we just agree to disagree, Nigthtwing, because I don't think either of us are going to sway the other in the slightest. I'll stick with my original point: I don't think Babcock did one of the three best coaching jobs this past season, and doesn't deserve to be a Jack Adams finalist. He's a fine coach, that seemingly became a much better coach when he went to Detroit. Does that mean he sucks? No, obviously not. But does that mean that he's actually a good coach that would be successful with a less talented team? No, that's impossible to determine. The one rebuttal that I want to make, and then I'll let it be is in regards to the following: Are you really comparing the run that Giguere had in the '03 Cup run to Thomas' season? Didn't Giggy go like 6-0 or 7-0 in OT games that year? And didn't he hold the Wild to like 2 goals for an entire 7 game series? His GAA was like 1.50 and his save percentage was well over .900. He had one of the best postseasons EVER. Thomas wasn't even a Vezina finalist. Yes, Thomas' play definitely helped the Bruins. But it's incomparable to compare his season to the amazing run that JSG had.

Lynx & Lamb is correct; Lynx plays the violin & Lamb plays the guitar. They'll be celebrating their 16th birthday on June 20th! For the ephebophiles among us, Lamb is still pretty cute, in a White Nationalist teenager kind of way, but Lynx is falling apart. For all those people that make the "I can't wait for them to do interracial porn" jokes, keep your eye on Lynx ... she's the one that's most likely to turn to drugs and sex and whatnot, out of petty jealousy over her more attractive twin sister. (well, technically, kid sister Dresden is the one most likely to rebel against the Nationalist family, since she's pretty much an afterthought compared to her older sisters) Sadly, their fan blog AND their message board are both painfully inactive. How's a creepy old dude from across the country supposed to stay in the loop in their comings & goings if they don't stay e-active?!? -
Each commercial or web-based 'hype video' has been 75% Jack's appendix situation and 25% Claire/Aaron/Sawyer conversing with the chopper pilot. If they're NOT planning on making Jack's status dramatic, they've done a shitty job of advertising what tonight's episode is going to be about.

Nightwing, I like how you quoted me and then made a series of accusations and inquiries towards max. (I don't like how max beat me to the punch and submitted a post while I was typing this up). Having said that, though, I'll give my two cents to some of your questions & comments: I don't think anyone said that Babcock wasn't a good coach; I think people were saying that he didn't perform one of the three best coaching jobs this past season. Although, it is funny that Lewis was considered a decent coach when he was behind the Wings bench (48 wins each season), but was horrible-behind-horrible when he left that organization. Hmmm, it's almost like the talent made him look better than he really was. Nah, couldn't be that, could it? You get your panties in a bunch because I'd have the audacity to wonder if Babcock would be so successful away from Detroit? The only coach that's been there since Bowman retired is now a punchline! And Babcock had one great season and then one bad season with the Ducks, but has averaged almost 120 points per season. Wow, he must have become a better coach when he left Anaheim. Because talent doesn't help much at all ....... or something. Did Nashville lose their presumed #1 netminder at game 4 of the season? Did they lose their best all-around forward in October? And were they predicted to finish last in their conference even with those guys? Comparing best player to best player, the Bruins can match up with a lot of teams. But that's not how the game works, it's the talent-level from top to bottom, and Boston doesn't win that comparison against very many teams. And telling me to "fuck off" for thinking that Babcock wouldn't have been successful away from Detroit? That's awesome. I guess the fact that he was only moderately successful before going to Detroit should be ignored. And the fact that their only other coach in the post-Bowman era shit the bed after leaving? Ignore that, too. I guess it's only sensible to presume that Babcock would be as successful elsewhere. EDIT: And I just remembered that Babcock's Stanley Cup Run with the Ducks was as a 6th seed, and on the back of JS Giguere. Oops, I mean Giguere had a great postseason because of how awesome of a coach Babcock is.

So, I did a stupid thing and read TMQ's "article" on the NFL draft, and stumbled across this perfectly sensible nugget of information: So, he'll fully admit that banking draft picks for the following draft is New England's normal M.O. But this time it's because they're nervous about Spygate II, rather than just doing what they always do at the draft. And, really, if they were banking picks for next year because they knew that Goodell was going to be taking picks away from them, why wouldn't they be talking to bad teams that would (likely) have higher draft picks? San Diego's 2nd round pick is likely going to be in the high 50s overall. If Belichick & Pioli were really concerned about having to make-up for lost draft picks, wouldn't they want to add one higher than 50-something?

Regarding the three coaches ... damn Western Conf bias keeping my boy Julien down. It must be tough for Babcock to find a way to win with the All Star starter in net, the 5-time Norris winner on the blue-line, and talentless hacks like Zetterberg (only 43 goals!) and Datsyuk (only 97 points!) up front. Put Julien behind the Wings bench, and they still win the President's (IMHO) ... put Babcock behind the bench in Boston, and the team starts golfing two weeks earlier. And in terms of Halak v. Price (and, technically, v. Tuuka Rask) ... so many Habs fans were quick to point out that Rask hadn't done anything on the NHL-level yet, where-as Price had, so it was obvious that Price was the better long-term goaltending option. I'll be the first to agree that he played very well in the regular season, but he was given a gift in the first round (playing against an offensively challenged Bruins team) and now has been pulled in the second round. I think it might be a bit premature to say that Price being the better long-term goalie is a no-brainer, as some Habs fans wanted to declare. And benching him in favor of Halak? Way to help the kid's confidence, Carboneau! As a B's fan, please do as much as you can to jerk the kid around ... if given the choice of him being the next Theodore or the next Dryden, I'd prefer the former, plz & thx.

5 Things that are "cool" to hate on the Internet (abd why that hate is dumb)

Just to confirm, though: Is it acceptable to hate South Park if it's not for political reasons? -
And while I'm probably guilty of exaggeration, isn't this like the third time that they've informed Jack that they're not there to save him & the other survivors? I feel like it's been a ~big reveal~ a few times now. You'd think that Jack would have realized that these people aren't who they said they were by now. Regardless, I'm looking forward to them advising Jack (again) that they're not there to save him again in about 3 weeks, and that pitiful look on his stupid face as a result (again). And while I'm bitching ... next week's episode seems to be chock-full of "Jack is in grave danger due to his appendix!" goodness. It's seemingly going to be a real live-or-die situation. Good thing they've already shown us Jack - alive and somewhat well - in the future, via his flash-forwards. Way to take any/all of the drama out of the situation, writers! Now, I know that a show's not going to kill off a main character like Jack with something like appendicitis, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they've already shown us at least 8 characters in the future, and thus those characters have no chance at dying whenever placed in a dangerous situation. (e.g. You know how Hurley is part of the group getting chased by Keamy & company? Don't hold your breath on them killing him, regardless of how precarious a scenario he finds himself in) /hates the flashforwards ... yeah, they make for good episodes. But they're comparable to reading part of chapter 15 in a book when you're actually on chapter 9. And that's not something that niskie likes to do.

I thought Colorado's offense would show up, but injuries is killing them. And, really, who could have predicted that Peter Forsberg would have to battle an injury.

So, while we can expect an increase in the quantity of your posting, is it safe to say that the quality won't change at all?

Stoners =/= rednecks.

Reason #1: Reason #2: Reason #3: Philly's douchebag fanbase that pulls the "this isn't figure skating" card anytime their team cheapshots another player. The Broad Street Bullies shtick was Ok when it was part of a very talented team. When it's a group of head-hunters & Danielle Briere (not a typo) it's another story. As much as I hate the Habs, they didn't try to cripple any Bruins this season. Plus, I think it'd be more fun to watch the Montreal fans react when their team lost in the ECF or the Cup ... losing in the second round wouldn't have the same heart-wrenching awesomeness.

What I think: Habs in 6 Rags in 7 Wings in 6 Sharks in 5 The "what I'd want" would be the same, except substitute Penguins for Rangers, and increase each series to a full 7 games.

The Deep South offers: Moonshine Meth Relaxed views on bestiality Ripper The Ying Yang Twins Yeah, I'd definitely give it a vote of "awesome"

One of us. One of us. Gooble, gobble, gooble gobble. Shawn Hornbeck might think so. Well, anyone that knew the case of Shawn Hornbeck might think so. I'm not sure what he himself thinks of being coddled, pampered and taught joy by someone that's over twice his age.

Not sure if you're only asking Marney or if this question is open to the whole classroom ... but I'll answer regardless. Passable pre-op? Long term relationship. But post-op? Things just don't look right down there, and that'd be more of a turn off than the penis would have been.

Who would have thought that a conversation about whoring out a 14 year old would have been so not-hot?!? I unzipped for nothing!

I always thought that Carboneau was an "old school" kind of player, the kind of guy that didn't let bush-league shenanigans like diving happen. Yet he seems perfectly content to send out his Olympic Diving Team to make even incidental contact look like attemped murder. It's an embarrassment to the league, and is something that really needs to be examined. Imagine if a Cup game is won or lost because of a fucking dive? While no disrespect is meant to you as an indidivual, it's difficult to hear a Habs fan lament another team getting away with calls. The officiating has been horrid in almost every game I've seen (and not just in the MTL/BOS series) but two of the Habs wins were on a borderline call against Reich to set up an OT PP goal and a pretty questionable call on Ference that led to the only goal in MTL's game 4 win. I really don't think the refs have been unfair to the Canadiens in the slightest.
