I'm too lazy to do a full write up of each team, but the teams I see making it to the postseason are: 1 Philly 2 Ottawa 3 Tampa Bay 4 Boston (might be 5, behind Pitt) 5 Pittsburgh (might be 4, ahead of Boston) 6 Montreal 7 Florida 8 Atlanta 1 Calgary 2 San Jose 3 Nashville 4 Vancouver 5 Detroit 6 Edmonton 7 Dallas 8 Colorado (will win a dogfight for the last spot, finishing just ahead of Anaheim & LA)

The Cowboys will finish with a sub-.500 record, and will miss the playoffs. If you're going to jump on a bandwagon, at least pick a team that will make the postseason.

Having never been in any of the locker rooms, I'd have a hard time saying who's the best behind closed doors ... but I'd put Messier, Stevens & Bourque as the top 3 in my adult lifetime. Yzerman would get the honorable mention. Sakic's close, but has had too many other superstars to assist him during his run as Captain. Question for people in Western Canada ... is Pronger going to wear an A on his sweater this year for the Oilers? (I guess I better question is who were the Alternates last year, and are both more worthy of the status than Pronger?)

Cena's being killed as much by bad booking as he is by anything he's doing to himself. Making him Anti-Authority Austin, v. 2005 is a shitty way to handle him. (Him vs. Bischoff is never going to have the same effect as Austin vs. McMahon did.) Having him wrestle a never ending series of handicap matches is a shitty way to handle him. They've changed his character and it's hurt his overness as a result. And count me as someone that sincerely doubts that Matt Hardy had any chance of being over beyond this 'shoot' feud with Edge & Lita. He was midcard at best, and that was lost when he switched from Smackdown to Raw and modified the V.1 gimmick.

I haven't seen an opening band that I've disliked in years ... I tend to skip the opening acts altogether and just go in for the bands that I want to see. Since so many of y'all have bad opening act experiences, you should give it a shot. And, question for che v ... you used 'hipster' a few times in one of your posts. Is that term not a negative term from where you're from? I ask because when it's used around here (Boston-area) it's normally used in a negative light, it's kind of a condescending way to describe the scene. This isn't a flame, it's a legit inquiry.

All the older foot soldiers at my Aryan Nations meeting had a good chuckle when I told them about our conversation, snuffbox. snuffbox, I recognize (well, presume) that you were implying that I had metaphorically buried myself during this conversation. I full-on comprehend that you don't mean a literal grave, I only used graveyard references to stay in tune with your play on the 'one foot in the grave' cliche that is still commonly used. I will have to admit that I am confused how an alleged "lack of common knowledge" ties into a perceived "inability to think constructively". Don't bother explaining the above, though, for two reasons: The first reason is that I'm about to leave work for the day and don't think I'll be online again in time to deal with responding. The second is the more important one, but is also just me reiterating something that I said earlier: I don't give a shit what you think about me.

Rip, I don't disagree that those 4 teams are pretty much the class of the NFC, I just don't think that 3 teams from the same division can all advance in the postseason like that. I can see 2 of the three getting to the second round of the postseason. ATL & Philly should earn the byes, and either Carolina or TB should be able to beat the West winner, even on the road. But it would take both teams winning road games in the wild card round, and I just can't see that happening.

People are sweating the Panthers because they had a top-shelf D until Jenkins got hurt. Good running offense and good run-prevention D is enough to get you a SB win these days, and they had both until Jenkins was lost again. I personally didn't believe the hype ... but I was pimping the Vikings to win the SB, so I really don't know shit.

Do you mean the final 4 teams alive, competing for the NFC Championship game and then IN the NFC Championship Game competing for the Super Bowl berth? Has one division ever had 3 of the 4 final teams? It'd mean both Wild Cards going to teams in the same division, and then both of them beating the other division champs. And while I agree that neither really deserved to get 86'ed, the rules are pretty strict that throwing a single punch is a game misconduct, and both guys threw punches.
