HTQ, I didn't realize that Adams was selected to come up to the NWA. I only remember a handful of UWF guys that were deemed worthy of sticking around after the acquisition, and I remember even fewer that were given a reasonable chance to get over.
-
I don't mean to sound callous, but could they have come up with a dumber title? Every ad I saw for it reminded me of the Simpsons when Homer was talking about the movie "Speed" and ended up calling it "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down." Great subject for a movie, and American heroes that deserve the accolades for doing what they did ... but piss-poor title.

^ Not when the other half treats you like a walks-on-water deity. Most of the Smith haters only hate him so passionately is because how passionately his fanboys circle jerk over his movie. I think most people would be apathetic about him if it wasn't for those that say his movies are the be-all/end-all.

As part of a bar crawl we had to invent drinks that would taste like shit. The first two suggestions were a Laverne Dafazio (milk & pepsi, with a shot of bar whiskey dropped in like an Irish Car Bomb) and a Black New Orleans (one part Kahlua, 4 parts water, served warm).

I was always surprised that Dynamic Duo (Gino & Adams) never got called up to the NWA. They'd have been a perfect fit, and could have had awesome feuds with the Fantastics or RnR Express. There's a part of me that thinks that Tully & Gino had a falling out when they were tag partners, and Tully got in Flair and Dusty's ears and kept them out of the NWA. But there's a part of me that thinks that the beef was an Apter mag creation and not the real deal. And I full-on agree, Zack. The 'blinding' angle was excellent. If Gino hadn't OD'ed they could have milked that angle for a long-ass time.

I'm normally a big cynical prick, but Franchise, I just wanted to acknowledge that I know who you are. We interacted in the porno thread ... And you'll be back. We always come back.

Ripper, will you have free snacks at your Bad Movie Fest? Maybe some delicous grape Kool-Aid? I'll go if it includes snacks and/or beverages. If it's just watching movies with message boarders, I'll RSVP with a 'thanks but no thanks'. Can we at least say that Kevin Smith is one of the most overrated directors of all time?

At least Mess got to have the moment at MSG that he got last year at the end of the regular season ... where he got to thank the fans and have them thank him. If memory serves, it was vs Buffalo, but regardless of the team the players showed their respects by tapping the ice with their sticks. Too many other retiring greats got their "moments" taken from them by the stupid lockout. People like MacInnis deserved the chance to skate on the ice in SL one more time before hanging up their skates.

Zack's a know-it-all. What a jerk.

CC, I don't disagree. I totally agree that they could (and should) fire some of the divas ... I also agree that they shouldn't be paying ANY of them them anywhere near $250k. But people don't say 'fire some divas and keep others'. They just say 'fire divas and keep actual wrestlers'. And my argument is that the divas must be making the company money, or they wouldn't be kept around. Most of all, I want to say how much I hate the fact that the WWE has trained me to call them 'divas'. How long until I start calling the men "WWE Superstars"?

I'm glad that someone named Gino, I was going to add him to my more serious reply ... I referenced Gagne earlier, but he's not famous for good reasons, he's famous for being pushed by his old man. My actual responses would be either Brody, Gino, or Chris Adams.
-
I thought that Brody was supposed to do a shoot run-in at WM1 ... not work for Vince.
-
If Blackwell's big enough to get named here, how could you skip the immortal Greg Gagne?

Corrected.

I'd be beyond surprised if the show lasts more than a month. It was painfully bad ... I thought it might swing back to 'so bad it's good', much like Unhappily Ever After did. But, no, it stalled out at painfully bad. /looking forward to repeat airings of Simpsons & Family Guy in October, when this trash gets the ax.
-
EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the other thread. Carry on, nothing to see here.
-
I feel like we go through this argument each time: the divas are used in calendars, DVDs, signing appearances, etc, and make more money for the company than a "talented grappler trying his best to learn pro wrestling" does. It's a business, people, and I don't think VKM is just keeping women around for the fun of it. He does it to help generate revenue.

Other than getting stuck with Forsberg - who I really doubt will play more than 60 games this year - I'm pretty pleased. If anyone wants an injury prone Swede, I know of when that's more than available for the right price. Stahl, how can you think the Bruins are going to finish 4th in the Northeast?!? The only team that I see as being any real competition for them - in the regular season, at least - is the Sens. TO is worse now than they were last year, and Montreal didn't necessarily improve, either.

BOSTON DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Umm, didn't Kanye perform in LA, and not New England at all. I didn't watch the kickoff show at all ... couldn't care less for any of the artists that performed ... so did the "Boston" fans boo a screen that was showing his performance, or were these "Boston" fans actually in LA?

Shawn wanted to be known as being unselfish. He just wasn't willing to be unselfish enough to earn that reputation.

I'm willing to bet that they're picking up eye-candy because someone (be it executives or marketing or R&D) thinks that you need TnA to help sell pro-wrestling in general society. Thus, they're signing women that are at least quasi-famous in the wrestling world to appear on their shows. I don't think either Gail Kim or Jackie Gayda are being picked up to be real wrestlers.
-
I agree with Starvenger ... I don't think I'd start dating her again, but I'd be willing to be friends. Especially if we're the friends that take our shirts off and have sex.

Ravenbomb, check out post 1818 (above, like 3 or 4 posts above this one) ... it'll explain the song that Dama refers to.

RE: PPV changes ... How about instead of a year-end review and Taboo Tuesday in it's current form, they steal two ideas from the old NWA and do a "Battle Bowl" tournament and a one night, four man "Iron Man" tournament? Hell, since there's not enough tag teams to do a TT version, do a Raw one and Smackdown one in the same night. EDIT: ignore the fact that VKM thinks that any else's ideas suck, obviously.
