Company loses its Pats Season Tickets because

If you can't picture it, spend about 2 minutes searching for it online. It's EVERYWHERE if you try to find it hard enough. or so I've been told, I've never tried or anything.

    Brock Lesnar's new nickname

If this is the "Real" Brock Lesnar, what happens when he turns face again? Will he be the REAL Real Brock Lesnar?

The ONE and ONLY MTV Music Video Awards 2003

Funniest part of the night: my friend thought that the random black guy that ran on stage when Snoop was out there was that high school basketball player that's skipping college. He's just like "why the fuck is that basketball player so wasted". I didn't have the heart to tell him that it wasn't him.

Isiah Thomas fired as coach of Pacers

I work in the "real world", and I know - for a fact - that my boss lies to me all the time. Do I like it? No. But is it a part of everyday life? Yes. If you're in a business, sometimes you have to make business decisions that will make your employees unhappy. It fucking cracks me up that he's getting paid $120 million, and now has a coach with a better winning record - with a less talented team, no less - and he's still bitching and whining. If he's so unhappy, why doesn't he retire, and take everything that he learned while at college and go deal with the same shit for a lot less money?!?

Company loses its Pats Season Tickets because

The original story was that he had taken his leak in the sink. So, either the original news were wrong or his lawyer is doing a damn good job of spin doctoring.

The one-and-only football contest thingy thread

What amount of trash-talking will be allowed? Obviously, most normal TSM rules would be followed (racism, sexism, etc) but are we allowed to mock those who are doing horribly and cut promo's on those that we play the next week? Or is this thing being run like we're all adults?

The ONE and ONLY MTV Music Video Awards 2003

Mighty Damaramu, you said that they could have had Rancid play ... they actually played a few seconds of the new Rancid song as on outro before one of the commercials, so at least SOMEONE at MTV has their head far enough out of their ass to pick some good music. Gives me the slim hope that Rancid will make a video this year that MTV deems popular enough to at least nominate for an award next year. Just to see Lint and the boys there, in their full punk regalia, even though we all know that they wouldn't win.

    Snatch or Pulp Fiction???

Snatch, by far. I found it much more enjoyable. I've seen it a few times, and dug it each time. Pulp Fiction was ok the first time, and mostly unwatchable each time I've tried to watch it since. And NO WAY does Sam Jackson take Vinnie Jones in a fight. Jackson plays a tough guy in movies, Jones is a tough guy in movies because he was banned for being a badass in soccer.
  9. Let me be the first to show the positive spin on this ... if the two old men are fighting each other, they're not fighting anyone else. One horrible match is better than two. And if they were fighting two seperate people, they'd most likely both go over. Prediction - Kane interferes, costing Taker the match.

    if you seen bushwick bill

He didn't shoot his own eye out, his girlfriend did because he was begging her to kill him. See, he's not crazy at ALL. Nosirree, completely sane.

    MTV VMAs...tonight

Last year they edited out Feminem having a coronary because the puppet made fun of him, and also edited out him threatening Moby and the boos that followed, so I definitely prefer to see it live. Having said that, every year I watch and every year I wonder why I wasted three hours of my life that way. MTV sucks.

    Current Hates and Likes

The only new things that I like right now are Rancid and the Streets. I dug the new Radiohead and the new Roots, but I got so burnt on them so quickly, I don't even keep them on when I hear them on the radio now. Older things that I've been digging a lot lately: Stereolab Widespread Panic Monster Magnet Things that I dislike: Too many to count ... virtually everything on the radio/MTV/etc. I just can't stomach modern music right now.

Ghettoman, I agree with you that everyone here says "don't lump us all together" and then turns around and lumps everyone else all together. And all fans do that: Sox, Yanks, West Coast, etc. But I don't agree with your second paragraph. You say that you only became a big fan once you got to root for a winner. (Direct Quote: But I didn't know the magic, the feeling of supporting a winner, a champion until 96, and it wasn't until 96 that I became a big fan.). That's being a bandwagon jumper. For example: I'm a diehard Bruins fan. Used to go to every home game, and went to another 10 or so road games. Them winning it all would NOT make me a bigger fan. I'm not saying that I'm a bigger Bruins fan than you are a Yankees fan, I'm just saying that rooting for a team more passionately because they win is being a bandwagon jumper.

Lance Storm's thoughts on Stiff Workers

if you knew anything about actually being in the ring or "trained" to be a wrestler, then you would know that you are taught to destroy someone with a punch or kick before you make it look botched or "fake". I can gladly say that, actually, I do no nothing about being in the ring or being "trained" to be a wrestler. And yet I find it hard to believe that anywhere that's considered legitimate is training people to destroy someone with a punch or kick. I'm presuming that they're being trained to make it look as if they're destroying their opponent without actually hurting them. No, they're not being trained to botch a move, nor are they being trained to look fake. But to actually destroy someone with a punch or kick shouldn't be on the agenda. It's one thing to strech someone (e.g. the Hart Family Dungeon) ... it's another thing to throw real punches. If I wanted to watch people actually hit each other, I'd watch MMA or boxing or a fucking cockfight. Not professional wrestling.

Lance Storm's thoughts on Stiff Workers

Question for those that say that working stiff makes wrestling look more real and thus better ... what about the fact that wrestling ISN'T REAL?!? They shouldn't have to stiff each other to make it look real, because it's not real. I don't mean that their kicks and punches should miss by 10 inches, but there's no need to really kick or punch anyone.

    E! True Hollywood Story...

Don't talk about my Amaya that way! ::shakes fist:: And even though I found her annoying, Amaya was the ONLY person in the show that didn't have a "my shit don't stink" attitude. (I have to apologize in advance, I don't know all of their names) Ruthie thought she was the coolest girl in the world, Teck thought he was the coolest guy in the world, the other girl that was always half nekkid knew everything about everything, the other guy (the one that wasn't Colin, Teck or the gay guy) thought that he was brilliant as well. And Colin seemed to get a big head by having Amaya stalk him. But I guess my original statement above was wrong - the gay guy wasn't too full of himself either. So, Amaya and the gay guy > everyone else on the Hawaii season.

    E! True Hollywood Story...

Kara, and the rest of the house all said that she didn't even sleep with most of those guys. They just go to night vision, play slow music and show a door and people assume that sex was had. I think she had sex with one(or two) guys while there. The clip on the E! show that I saw was her talking about being out socially with someone from the show and he admitted that they'd seen her have sex, what with the cameras in the rooms and all. I personally don't care what happened, or how many people it happened with, but don't boff in front of a camera and then feign innocence.

The Drunken Micks and Soccer Hooligans thread

I'm half Irish and half German ... so the joke that I normally use is that I pick fights (the Irish side) but lose them (the German side). And I agree, posting cliques are, for lack of a better word, lame. I'm a loner, Dottie, a rebel.

    E! True Hollywood Story...

I only watched part of the show, but what killed me was when Kara (the slut from Chicago) talked about how exploitive the Real World was for showing her being a whore. Let me get this straight, you have a bunch of hookups, have sex in front of cameras, but feel you were exploited? How, exactly, should they have treated the series of one night stands? It's funny, my favorite 3 seasons are the ones that are considered the most boring: the first NYC, Boston, and London. (They did so much TV watching in Boston that the house isn't allowed to have a TV set anymore!). My least favorites are SF (I hated EVERY person that season, and hated them all with a passion) and Hawaii (a bunch of people who think that they're a lot smarter, and a lot cooler, than they really are).

You're right ... PJ rules. Other than probably Thornton, Stock gets the most love and the loudest pop of any Bruin. If one of the fights lasts long enough, the whole place starts chanting "PJ ... PJ ... PJ" and then goes deafening when he does his little wave while skating to the penalty box. And, Tom, in regards to the way the fans treated the Kidd family - which I am not condoning in any way - it happens EVERYWHERE. Don't go insinuating that Boston fans are the only ones. I've seen fans in a bunch of cities yell horrible things to people that are rooting for the other team (whether they're fans, or family members or whatever.) I saw a Canadians fan spit on a woman and her young son at a game in Montreal - does that make all fans in Montreal class-less?

    Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk

I only skimmed through the thread because of the big ol' SPOILERS warning on the first post, and I just bought Lullaby last night and am only a little of the way through so far. But I wanted to contrbute to the thread (too many comix conversations dominate this thread, so if I can find something to talk about, I do) So far I dig the book. I've read Fight Club, Choke, Survivor and Invisible Monsters, and thought that they were all good reads, so I'm looking forward to reading the rest of Lullaby. The main raeson I was even at the bookstore was because I'd wanted to get Diary, which only came out yesterday, but I kind of forgot that it would only be in hardcover, and they're too big of a pain in the ass to read on the subway ... so Lullaby will have to do for now.

    Playmakers

Took the words right out of my fucking mouth ... ESPN is becoming like another MTV. Rather than just play what they're known for (e.g. sports or videos) they play self-produced TV shows that have something to do with what the network is supposed to be showing (e.g. rather than show a baseball game, they'll show a 1-hour show about a baseball player)

Seriously is there any Rock respect?

I'd thought that he meant rap OR rock, not a hybrid between the two. But I might be wrong.

Pedro Martinez is GONE after 2004

I've said it before ... there are almost NO FANS in Boston that "blame it on the Babe" ... it's a fucking media creation. Especially ESPN - the Patriots could lose a game to the Jets and they'd make some crack about the Babe Ruth Curse. It's not like the Sox lose a game, or choke at the end of the season, and all the fans look at each other and say "oh, there's that curse again". People don't believe in the curse per se ... there's a ton of "reverse the curse" type of signs and bumper stickers, but most people really don't believe in that shit.

Burrel's considered a good guy and a good person. If he was a dick, he'd be getting booed. Similarly, someone like Nomar could get away with some of the shit that Pedro doesn't. Why? Because Nomar is - for the most part - a good guy. Pedro is a whiny bitch, so the fans are a lot less likely to let him get away with his crap. And it's hard to think of a Philly fan talking about how understanding their fans are. You guys are considered as bad as us Boston fans, and the NYC fans, for a reason.
