By the way, I apologize Special K. I recommend Mos Def: Black on Both Sides, Blackstar, Common: Like Water for Chocolate, Dead Prez or Geto Boys.
-
Hey, I can live with that. Goodnight everybody!

Wow, another worthless post from Incandenza. Not surprising at all. By the way, my favorite Jailbait moment was when Incandenza tries to use his "message board popularity" to cover up for his lack of knowledge on the subject. That one kicked ass!
-
And Incandenza is the most overrated, piece of shit poster in the history of message boards.
-
Explain? Interesting, but explain.

If it wasn't for them paving the way for hip-hop to be acceptable to be played on MTV, then none of those artists would've had a platform to show their skills. I agree with you that those artists are better than Run DMC, but you have to agree that without the popularity of Run DMC, they wouldn't even have a chance to succeed. Exactly. Hip-hop music would still being played on street corners and block parties, not a the billion dollar business it is now. I apologize, I see them as practically the same thing. When someone brings light or attention to something on a much larger scope, I see it as being innovative. Um yes, yes it does. Once again, I hate beating a dead horse, but by breaking through and becoming a success, Run DMC made hip-hop profitable in the eyes of record companies. Def Jam then became a success because of it. LL Cool J became a success. Public Enemy then had a platform from which to spring from. Young kids on the streets, like myself, saw hip-hop music as not just a way to communicate our thoughts and ideals, but as something to get us out of the ghetto. The genre was transformed. Yeah, because Run DMC were rapping just about cupcakes and bridal showers. That's bullshit and you know it. Thoughtless? Maybe, but they had to be doing something right considering hundreds of rappers considering them a huge influence. Yeah, they'd be around. They'd be around on low-level record lables, playing small clubs or street corners. Jay-Z wouldn't be a partial owner of the Nets. Biggie may still be alive. Nas wouldn't be considered the savior of modern hip-hop because hip-hop wouldn't even be worth saving. Thanks for letting everyone know that, because you just got humilated by someone who knows nothing about music.

I have to agree with that one. Their concert perfomances expand the songs so well.

Okay, that's reasoning is just wrong. Luther and Jindrak are midcarders. And midcarders associated with Kurt Angle, the biggest heel on the brand. Plus, there like 7 feet 7. The concept of anyone that size in the WWE being depushed is ridiculous. Plus, Luther was on Smackdown pulling double duty cutting a character defining promo. Spike is the cruiserweight champ. He is always vulnerable. According to WWE, a champ losing on a regular basis equals compelling angles. Either way, I'd considering him to apart of ppv everytime Smackdown is up to bat. Kidman and Chavo ar embroiled in a heated feud. But London? What direction does he have? He's getting his ass handed to him by the Bashams, that's his direction! He went from a moderate direction to no direction at all. It's called being depushed. He was put out of action by Kidman and he's doesn't even confront the man. A three way match between Chavo, Kidman and London would be amazing.
-
And considering most musical genres aren't scientifically factual, it's a bit funny to see so many cling to them.
-
Didn't Spanky leave the company after he thought he was being depushed? I sort of remember something along those lines. London should do the same. I'm 100% serious. Raven has said that working a high amount of independent dates pays pretty well. London is a big draw out there. Smarks like us would pay to him. Marks would pay to see him now because of his WWE exposure. I'm just so sick of this WWE political B.S. You've got an awesome, charismatic worker like London and, much like the Dallas Cowboys and Drew Henson, they give him the ball only to take it away.

Pattern of 90% of Incandenza posts in the music folder: Insert lame insult + ridiculous "pitchforkmedia-approved indie" opinion - any form of decent conversational skills = Incandenza's post! Remove your lips from Banky's ass and listen: If their ideas were good enough to steal, then their must have been a high amount of quality to them. And considering the state of most hip-hop today, the message of the original lyrics (and ideas) has been flushed down the mainstream toilet. Blending rock with hip-hop has only been done successfully by few. Public Enemy to name one. And their success, no matter what anyone on this board can say, is unequaled. You have to look at where hip-hop was to where they took it. God damn, leave the music folder!
-
It's a subtle humor. Like on "No Surprises" or the underrated "Thinking About You." They have taken themselves too seriously in the past, but on "Hail," you can see that their guard has been let down.
-
Are you serious? I mean really? Damn, I actually thought you were a smart one. If it wasn't for artists like Run DMC, the def jam crew, Boogie Down Productions, Kurtis Blow and various other artists, every medocire hip hop group you listen to wouldn't exist today. Just admit it Banky: Run DMC are, for lack of a better analogy, hip-hop trailblazers. And how do you get to that point? By being a great rapper and performer. By the way, I hated that Walk this Way bullshit. Give me "It's Tricky," "Rock Box" or "Sucka MCs."
-
Run DMC still remain influential, twenty years after their debut. For someone to deny that lacks common sense. Oh wait, I forgot, I was talking to Banky and Incandenza. Sorry about that one.

I'll sign that petition Please die.......
-
Why did you waste your time with this guy, who judging by his avatar, is 100% biased? Its like me calling dfa1979 the greatest bad of alltime, it just won't fly. But I do have to take you to task for insulting Oasis. grrrr. Fuck off!
-
I agree, point taken.
-
Other than being a "Pixies cover band," as he'd like to say, he did spawn a number of look-a-like bands. For the early 90s, he was it. He wasn't Bowie or Lou Reed, but for what he was, I think he was pretty innovative.
-
That's cool that you're open to new and interesting music. And if you don't like or get Radiohead, don't worry too much about it. It takes most years to really get into them and their catalog.
-
Me too. That was almost unbearable at times. Everyone wanted the Pixies after a long, hot day and we got that.
-
Please, by all means....
-
Please, by all means, begin. Because if you can name a band that has remained relevant and as successful as Radiohead and remained true to their artistic roots, then I'll believe you. Was it good? Was it even decent? Yeah, there still good, so what? Not great. They never were. They'd be nowhere? I need tangiable results, not something this vauge. What band has had the original and recogiziable sound such as this? And what band could've lasted as long as they have? Please Inc, use examples. It'll make you seem much smarter. Whoa, calm down there. I still enjoy their ep's and their last album was good. But you cannot deny the absurdity of that concept. It didn't totally ruin the band for me, but it made it hard for me to take them seriously. Plus, they were on the Spongebob soundtrack. The fuckin Spongebob soundtrack. Defend that. Man, seriously, calm down and try and to argue objectively. But can you deny that fact? You can only use sarcasim and skepticism for so long. You're a crazy one Inc.
-
Disregard.
-
Not even 2+2=5? Not even The National Anthem? Not even Paranoid f'n Android? Damn... By the way Inc, who is the best band of the 90's?
-
More so than anything, these mags are looking for some band to pin that title upon. They tried to pitch it upon Oasis and they fell under. They threw it on Nirvana and we all know what happened there. The Libertines are great, but they'll fall apart before they can make the amazing, standout album. Try listening to them like this: Put on the record and go do something else besides listening attentively. File folders, build legos, shave your chest, whatever. Try using it as background music, almost a soundtrack to your day. It works quite well and can make one's once boring day seem...less boring.
