    Sell me on Radiohead.

I agree with some here that if you don't like 'em now, you may not like that at all. They've produced the most consistent body of work of any band over the past 10 years. Not since Kurt Cobain's death can you name a rock band that has been willing to latch onto something creative and innovative as Radiohead has. Try it, I dare you. Prodigy? Gone and irrelevant. Oasis? Still good, but buckeled under the pressure of stardom. Modest Mouse? Original sound over the past eight years and may be the only comparison. The Flaming Lips? Seriously, four albums of sound to be played in four different stereos? That's just stupid. Outkast? Different genre. Thom Yorke has been influenced heavily from the music of Jeff Buckley, one of the greatest vocalists of all time, and The Pixies, one of best underground acts ever. His lyrics deal with the emotionless nature of society and questions why the feelings of disenchantment and false love exist in today's "all-connected" world. A frontman in the grand spirit of Bowie and Mercury, but the storyteller in the spirit of Dylan and Young. Johnny Greenwood's guitar work is amazing. He's abstract, violent and melodic at the same time. Key tracks: Idoiteque - Kid A: The standout track on their standout album. Why is there standout album? Despite what Bono says, Radiohead did not dodge stardom after Ok Computer. Rather, They chose to deliver something that pleased their musical imaginations. And the album still went to number 1. Let Down - OK Computer: Harmonies, Harmonies, Harmonies. This track is breathtaking towards the end. Paranoid Android - Ok Computer: An opus. Three songs stiched into one. A rock opera of sort. No song in the past ten years has captured our generation more so than this song, in my opinion. The Bends - The entire album has no skippable tracks. Everything remains consistent throughout the record. The music keeps your head nodding while lyrics keep your mind focused onto the message. Creep - Pablo Honey: No Radiohead enthusiast should deny the power of this track. If you don't like this track, then Radiohead just isn't for you. It embodies much of their musical roots and while most of their musical material is drastically different then Creep, the power of the vocals here is something that remains constant in the band. There There and True Love Waits: Both of these tracks are my favorites. I also enjoy Lift and Big Ideas. Check 'em out. Basically, Radiohead is band that just has to grow on you. It didn't start liking them until I saw them in concert a few years back. Their live show has been voted the best by both indie and mainstream magizines. Plus, female Radiohead fans are fucking hot boy!

    Shelton Speaks

On a bizzare side note, Shelton Benjamin is the worst wrestler to select on the new Smackdown vs Raw game. Garrison Cade at least puts up a fight!

    BAD POST POINTOUT

Like "This Thread is Ghey" or that cat gimmick from a few months back. I love that shit.

    BAD POST POINTOUT

I see that excuse all the time. Explain to me how the poster tries too hard. I wouldn't expect someone sitting on a computer typing "witty" phrases as something that requires a vast amount of effort, but maybe I'm just misguided. Or maybe I "tried to hard" to get my point across.

Give it up for teenage liberalism

Casinoes? I'd say that they're more concerned about the living conditions for themselves and their families. Mascots are probably a notch or two below economic prosperity and dying Native languages really. It's quite an important issue around Indian country.
  6. I find it funny that it took well over a year to get this thread back on it's orginal track.

The Marine who shot dead an injured man

Smitty, I respect you taking a stand here in Current Events. After reading some of the one-sided idoicy, both "liberal" and "conservative," that spawns out of this folder, I see you're basically a fighting these battles alone. But, you do realize you're not going to change any ideals here, right? I mean, if you do, that's cool. But that's a battle that will never be won.

    TNA News and Notes

There were signs of a talent raid yesterday down in Orlando. WWE was taping their Royal Rumble commercial yesterday at Universal Studios, and Vince McMahon and "Big" from Tough Enough weren't happy at who showed up. NWA Total Nonstop Action's Jeremy Borash, David Sahadi - who resigned from WWE earlier this year - and some other employees were there, offering some cookies to the WWE folks as a nice gesture, and were seen talking with WWE superstars, including Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho! Also causing suspicion, Val Venis and Rhyno were seen hanging out at a bar Tuesday night with Team Canada, wrestlers they broke into the business with years ago. More on this as it develops... [Credit: Mike Johnson and PWInsider.com] As previously reported, there was a confrontation at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, yesterday, as WWE was taping a commercial for the Royal Rumble in the same city TNA tapes it's iMPACT!, Xplosion and Pay Per View events. According to WrestlingObserver.com's Dave Meltzer, David Sahadi, who used to work for WWE in production and is responsible for the great improvement in TNA video packages, had Traci Brooks bring cookies and Abyss balloons to the WWE crew as a welcome present. WWE "went ballistic," filing a complaint with Universal and threatening to sue TNA if they air any of the footage. There has been talk in the TNA camp about sending out a tongue-in-cheek press release today about the issue. The commercial will feature the RAW and SD groups dressed up like feuding gangs in "West Side Story" like production. In further news, Randy Savage is still negotiating with TNA, and may in fact return. Just the image of Abyss....lol.

    Carlito Carribean Cool injured

As reported over the weekend, Carlito Caribbean Cool seperated his shoulder at a house show in Ft. Myers. The early report is that he will need surgery, and 3 months off due to it, but WWE is hoping he can work the Survivor Series elimination match on Sunday. There is also hope that the MRI comes back with better news. We should know the extent of his injury after tonight's SmackDown tapings. Source: Stole it from Insidepulse.com, who stole it from ?

I loved it. Hardy was on the ladder and Nash hits him with a shot. Hardy still tries for the belt. Hall says: "This fuckin no-selling bastard.." and whacks him with another shot. Hardy is all: "Well, what the hell, the belt will be mine!" and reaches some more. Jarrett reaches back and kills him dead with a guitar shot. Hardy decides it's time to give up his quest to be champion of a mediocre organization and limply falls to the ground.

PPV was okay. The crowd was hot for most of it, except the XXX/AMW match. That was, barring massive pushes of Spanky and AJ, the last TNA ppv I'll ever order.

He looks like a shorter, more grizzly version of the Undertaker. Edit: Look at his "Be A Man" record cover and that's pretty much it.

NWO-esque beating from Hall, Nash and Jarrett on the whole locker room? And here comes Savage?

Nash turns on Hardy. Hits him with a guitar. Superhuman Hardy still stands up and Hall hits him with a guitar. Fuckin no selling Hardy still stands and Jarrett knocks him dead. Jarrett wins. Decent outing.

Well, from what I'm watching, Hardy has blown two spots in a row. This match has been spot after spot and most of them were blown.

Big if there. When was the last great Jeff Hardy match that didn't involve Edge, Christian or The Dudleys?

    OAO Victory Road Thread

The match shouldn't of been bogged down to a formula-style tag match. An all out brawl would've suited the issue between the two teams better. They started out very fast-paced and hit some decent double team moves. But some miscommunication, plus the crowd losing interest, led to a horrible finish with Primietime being too exhausted to even hit his finishing move. Damn, negative stars?

AMW wins the match, but XXX attacks afterwards by handcuffing AMW's hands together and hitting Storm with a chair. Man, that match was going well until Daniels was eliminated.

Primetime is either hurt or blown up. The crowd is turning on the match.

Welpt, XXX vs AMW is up next and may steal the show. The last two matches have been solid, if not very good. This next one should be interesting.
