    English Football

Well, we've lost out on Iain Hume, which means we still need a creative forward, and Blades have Neil Shipperly! Warnock's only been after him for about 10 years. Still, my Blades fan mate has spoken of the need for a 'fat cunt' in the attack, so he's happy.

NYC 5-0 hate Canadian Indy Rock

Can't get that link to work either, might just be my dad's terrible pc. Still, I haven't heard anything by them yet, so I'll naturally assume I don't care for them, and then I will laugh at this.

    Ted Heath dead

A former tory prime minister I don't particularly despise. Effort.

    Sell me on Carlito

The Honky Tonk Man style of heel won't work as well ever again, and that's the only route I could ever see this guy taking.

    Hogan Knows Best

I have to see this show.

    British Bulldog

I think he's a prime example of a guy who got over simply on that 'x factor' alone, his charisma won crowds over without him having to do anything special. He was strong and mobile for his size, but post 97 he was done.

What are you listening to right now?

Band who reached their potential too early

Wire's first three albums are the best things ever, pretty much, so they've not come anywhere near them since. I like 2003's Send just fine, and admire their direction, keeping the simplicity of their soundscapes and structures but in a different medium. I've heard Colin Newman's new project, 'Githead' is shite, however.

Yeah, wherever you stand on that, it was obviously an inspired move. It's not so much selling out cos he made it his own.

Pop is one of the only decent things U2 ever did. Seriously.

    How do you dress?

The thing I dislike about summer is I can't wear all my suits. I've got a black one, and a salmon pink jacket with gold buttons and cream trousers, and then I wear a suit jacket with jeans most of the time, like my pink lined/pinstriped navy one or the velvet one covered in pin badges. Basically, I'm a poser. I'm pretty much wearing something pink all the time.

Well, at least Wright-Phillips won't be coming to Hillsborough to destroy us...it is a shame though, I think we've lost another potentially great England regular, if he justs sits on his arse earning shitloads without playing he could lose it.

    Hebner screws Hebner

Weird. Oh well. Mike Chioda's always been the best one, especially bump-wise, and it's a shame White had to retire. On a side note, was Tim White related to Leon 'Vader' White? I always thought they looked similar facially.

Pro Plus kicks you up, but it kicks you right back down again. Fuck.

Also, our pre-season friendly of note is Man City, who are supposedly bringing a full strength team. That should be a laugh. Now if someone would get their arse in gear and buy Wright-Phillips...

OK, we've got about 9 central defenders now, I assume Sturrock will be favouring a 7-2-1. If it keeps us up...

    How is Alice Copper live?

He's even stopping by my neck of the woods in November, supported by Twisted Sister. I'm sure it'd be fun enough, but imagine what he's charging. Plus everyone there will be hideous.

Band who reached their potential too early

I think Tool might be a candidate, I quite like all their stuff but in focusing so much on moving forwards they often lose something. PUSA (I still love the first two albums, maybe I'm just sentimental) And on the Green Day front, my housemate had the new one on his computer, and it is the most okish stuff they've done in a fair few years. In places. All the singles they've released from it were crap, though. The White Stripes' new album is utterly horrible, and Jack White sounds like a guy doing an impression of himself live these days, so they might qualify.

Frank Black has done some shit, granted, but the majority of his solo stuff remains underrated. And his band's versions of Pixies songs were virtually flawless, which is why I'm not insanely over the moon about the reformation, though I will see them.

Tell chave what to see at Reading festival!

I'm going to the Leeds site (same lineup with the days swapped around) for The Wedding Present, Pixies, Dresden Dolls, Sons and Daughters, maybe Arcade Fire and The Futureheads, and will take great pains to avoid Kasabian, among others. I may still have to sell my ticket, though. If The Wedding Present hadn't been confirmed, and 'Dare' hadn't been on all their recent setlists, I probably would have sold it by now anyway. Not to say it isn't the best festival lineup in the UK this year.

OK, so Slipknot are pretty bad and are supported by a dwindling ocean of idiot children, but they're a million miles away from being the worst thing out there.

    These sick motherfuckers

It's worth mentioning that when wrestling tries to tackle issues such as rape and terrorism it is overstepping its bounds. This is escapist entertainment, I hardly see what it gains in reminding us of how miserable the outside world is.

Cereals that taste worse as you get older

I could never eat a fruit flavoured cereal, glad they never really took off here. I'll say this, chocolate weetos (dunno if the US has the same or equivalent) taste far nicer dry than with milk.
  25. PLAGIARISM!

    These sick motherfuckers

As before, the network should assume responsibility for whether this airs in the UK (the shit may just hit the fan if it does). But I will say this, going 'Oh you knew they'd do it' isn't the best defence. This company uses its ambiguous position betweem implied fact and fiction to its advantage. No other high profile show could get away with it.
