    M. Night Shyamalan

Count me in the "completely underwhelmed by the 'works' of M. Night Shyamalan" category. Boring, boring, boring, with Signs being the worst offender. I won't even consider watching the Village unless I get the Clockwork Orange treatment. And even then I'll try to poke my eyes out with my tongue. Feh.

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man

Can't remember where I read this, but take it with a grain of salt or two: There are supposedly two villains in Spider-Man 3: Man-Wolf (J. Jonah Jameson's son) and Venom. My guess is Church plays Venom.

    Why all the Orton hate?

I'm down with the apathy vote. Nothing about Orton screams Main Event, not even the slightest. And he definitely tries too hard without succeeding. Even his finisher looks contrived most of the time. I can't be bothered with watching him, unless he's on the receiving end of a Benoit chop. Or twelve. Side note: whenever he does that fey little pose of his, I always yell out "I caught a fish this big!"

    HHH's Raw Promo

Every week I praise the techno-gods for bringing Picture-In-Picture to us mortals so that I don't have to listen to any more of HHH's promos. Seriously, how enthralling can it be to watch Ol' Muttonchops sitting on a chair and delivering his typical marathon spiel? "Me great. Everyone else suck. Grunt grunt grunt." In the time it took him to finish, the Knicks went on a 23-5 run against the Spurs. Sheesh! As for Orton, he got the Lil' Box treatment too. And that "turn" couldn't have been more telegraphed if he wrote "Stop." on Stacy's prone body. Now i'm half-rooting for UT to kill him dead, and I hate UT. Shit, I hope the roof collapses on the both of them at WM21. Don't even get me started on the Tag Champs once again playing second banana and Molly F'N Holly having to job to Gidget. Not a good night to be a wrestling fan. Thank goodness for that Taxi Driver promo, which made most of that show seem worthwhile.

    Taxi Driver WM Promo.

Finally, they surpass the Basic Instinct parody with an absolute gem of an advert. The concept, the execution, the use of so many faces and characters… that hit on all cylinders. And of course, Batista was his smoove badass self. Nice payoff at the end. Too bad the rest of the show was more or less shite on a kite.

    London/Chavo match unlikely at WM21

Seriously, just do a quickie "belt held up due to injury" angle, have a mini tourney on the next 2 SD!'s, and have London and Akio for the title at WM21. It's not like they haven't rushed through stuff like this before. And the match would definitely be worth it.

    Jannetty Gets a Contract

Colour me still one of the unimpressed. How you guys ride this wave of nostalgia so far is beyond me. If this means guys who desperately need the TV time like the Hurricane, La Res etc. have to job to Jannetty now, then I'm sure glad I don't watch Heat. Don't even get me started on how they waste RAW's Tag Team champs?

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

Thankfully I didn't buy the two DVDs, hoping news like this would eventually come out. Being patient (and poor) pays off.

How You Got Interested In Certain Bands

When I was 14 way back in 1986 (yes, I'm old), my sister's boyfriend made a tape for her of mostly rock and punk, which was weird, because she was into shitty dance music. The first song on the tape was "No Feeling" by the Sex Pistols. That's all it took for me to get into all things punk. From there I started to listen to an alternative station in Long Island, and pretty much devoured any modern rock and New Wave I could find. In 1989, I joined my University's radio station and got into even more stuff: ska, hardcore, industrial, indie rock, even folk music. My record and tape collection was gargantuan. Nowadays, since I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV, I buy compilations put out by record labels whose track record I trust (Epitaph, Fat Wreck, Revelation, etc.), and that's where I usually find new music to buy (when I have the money, that is, which is hardly ever.) As for my favourite artist, Juliana Hatfield, I got into her because of an ex-girlfriend back in University. Over a decade later, and I still catch her NYC shows pretty much every year.

    The Rockers!

Sorry, but comparing Marty Jannetty to true legends like Ric Flair and Terry Funk is a bit of a reach. Name recognition alone would leave MJ in the dust. People like/tolerate Flair because of what he brings to the table in terms of longevity, notoriety, legendary status, etc. Jannetty, unfortunately, will always be known as the guy who wasn't HBK.

    Jake the Snake Roberts

I'm sure those profiles were put up for the newer fans who might not be all that familiar with the old timers. If Jake is staying, he'll probably be in that Sgt. Slaughter role of backstage agent with the occasional TV squash whenever someone needs to go over a "name" wrestler. Of course, watching Jake waddle into the ring, I kinda hope not.

    The Rockers!

I agree with Lushus. As great as this trip down Memory Lane has been (for some people), I don't think keeping 43-year-old Marty Jannetty is in the best interest of the company, especially if it might involve a decade-old feud with HBK that only a few people will a) remember and b) care about. As much as I hated them going over La Res, I understand that it was mostly so Jannetty would look slightly competitive against Angle. But don't count on him sticking around after his match with Angle.

    WHEN ANGLE MET CHRISTY

Having seen When Harry Met Sally a multitude of times, I must say that Christy followed Meg Ryan's movements to a T. Too bad they had to dub in the sounds (and very noticeably, to boot). But for all intents and purposes, that was definitely on a par with the Basic Instinct[/i send-up. I wonder if they actually filmed it at Katz's Deli, or if they just built a set, because it looked pretty authentic. (Damn… now I'm hungry for a pastrami on rye…)
  15. I can't bear to look, even with a lack of blood. Too many painful memories for me.
  16. Sorry, but as bad as the Taker one was (and it was pretty damn bad), nothing was worse than the HHH one. Poor pacing, half-assed performances, and too much exceeding of the fourth wall. Just a bad idea all around.

    Anyone order from deepdiscountdvd.com ?

I've ordered twice from them and never had problems. I ususally wait until their semi-annual sales (summer, pre-Xmas) when all their stuff is 20% off.

    Matt and Lita

Work. He must be gearing up to return soon, and this is just one way for fans to start talking about him again. Considering how buddy-buddy Kane and Lita had been before her injury, it's probably not that far off the mark.

    A sickening feeling...

How is this even debatable? Of course HHH is behind this. The actual driver is moot. I'm just awaiting tonight for Batista to turn down Teddy Long's offer to join SD!, only to have HBK take the contract instead so he can take on Angle at WMXXI.
  20. Nitpicky thing: This doesn't just pertain strictly to SD!, but Michael Cole seems to do this more than anyone. "An enzugiri to the back of the head!" Isn't an enzugiri, by it's very nature, a kick to the back of the head? I don't speak Japanese, but from what I've read, that's the definition of an enzugiri. That annoys me almost as much as when wrestlers like Trish and Edge are introduced as hailing from "Toronto, Canada", as if the province of Ontario doesn't exist. Regardless, the show was pretty decent, especially the cruiserweight match. I hope the NWO 6-way dance gets a decent amount of time, although seeing how the SD! match was interrupted by the slut display, I have my doubts.

    Most Obscenely Funny Song

"Liza and Louise" - NOFX (not so much for the whole song as much as the lines I bolded) Liza's had enough of men, She says, she won't get burned again, She says, they don't know how to fuck, Her last boyfriend, the shmuck, Shared with her a nice disease, Kept her passive, on her knees, Till one day she took his car, And drove it to the city. Liza had put down a few, When she met this girl named Lou, Who convinced her to go home with her, She said, "My name's Louise, Now would you take your clothes off please? I wanna take you to the moon and back, So get on your back." With a flick of the tongue, She made her scream, She made her laugh , She made her dance, She was happy for the first time, And you know she wanted more. Now with her legs spread wider, She needed to have Louise inside her, She said, "I'll never forget the first time you kissed me, Now I want you to fist me." Louise didn't need a second invitation, She knew just what to do, Yeah she knew just what to do. Liza had cum a few times before, But she had never even seen the door, Into the world of pleasures of the flesh, She felt just like 16, And her life before now was a dream, Or even a nightmare that's over and done, Just like warm healing rays, Shining from the sun. They make her beam, They make her laugh, They make her dance. She was happy for the first time, And you know she wanted more. You know she wanted more. You know she wanted more. In fact, I daresay most of NOFX's songs are pretty damn funny, especially the ones that attack corporate America and the government.

    Big Show Rips Lesnar

I agree wholeheartedly. Anyone complaining about wrestlers "biting the hand that fed them" need look no further than Shawn Michaels, the poster child of selfishness. The manlove he gets all over the place seems a bit misplaced considering how often he used to put himself above the other wrestlers, and quite unprofessionally at that. I, for one, would welcome Lesnar back in a heartbeat. I guess I just miss great wrestling.

    "Basic Instinct" WM 21 Commercial

Way better than the HHH one, hands down. Everyone was believable (even Stacy), whereas HHH and Flair were playing there commercial half-assed. I too am hoping for a Pulp Fiction version as well.

So was the Rumble finish botched or not?

Occam's Razor: The double elimination was planned from the start. All month long, they've been pushing both Cena and Batista equally as unstoppable.. So it's only natural that they were the last two in there. The whole "who landed first" thing was for gauging crowd response (the raising of each guy's hand, each guy tossing the other out of the ring, etc.), which seemed to be jsut about equal (although at times Batista's supporters were a tad louder). Vince coming out and restarting the match was probably a nod to the Bret/Luger ending, doing the right thing this time around and restarting the match. If he hadn't pulled a Steiner and fucked up his knee, he would have grabbed a mic and done it himself. Kudos to him for masking the pain, although he looked quite the retard* sitting there on the mat not doing anything except steaming. Because of HHH's match running long (or possibly the drunken Bradshaw skit to set up the Barbed Wire match), they had to go to a quick ending with Batista eliminating Cena. I don't think there were any other plans than Batista winning, since a) he's on RAW, which is the flagship show, and b) his opponent at WM is the Boss's son (of that I have no doubt... forget all that talk about him going to SD!). Besides, it's easy for Cena to just tell Bradshaw he wants the title shot at WM since a) he's the only one he hasn't beat, and b) as US champ, he's the natural #1 Contender. * Speaking of retards, I LOVED the WM promo with Eugene. Great stuff.

So what happens to Evolution now?

For the first time in a long time, I'm actually interested in a HHH feud. Who woulda thunk it? As for HBK, he'll probably sit out with an injury for three weeks, then jump Angle at No Way Out, and demand a match for WMXXI. Grampa Jesus has gotta rest before the big match, no?
