I thought Rolle was a defensive player. OU typically plays man coverage where you get the reciever alone down field and make the pick or murder his ass. Our players were fit for that and Bo Pelini came in and changed it to a finesse zone where if the pass is within 10 yards of the line you wait 2 yards out then run up and make the tackle instead of being aggressive. Our players were not fit for that kind of defense. Now with Bobby Jack Wright we're going back to aggressive "beat the shit out of the reciever off of the line and then murder his ass if he catches the ball" defense.

Still though nobody gave OU a shot against FSU. That was my point. Everyone thought they were going to get blown out and that Miami and FSU were going to split the national title. Hey Bobby Bowden went to 3 title games in a row and won 1 out of 3.....OU can win one this year! The thing that sucks about losing the last 2 title games is that everyone forgets we won one in 2000. Everyone in Oklahoma is like "Man I hate Stoops. He can't win the big one!" And I'm like "Dude he's 3-3 in bowls. He won 3 bowls in a row including a national title and the Rose Bowl....what is this about the big one?"

I heard that he has it down to Florida and OU. And he said that Urban Meyer tries to hard to be Bob Stoops. His brothers want him to go to Florida but his dad is a HUGE OU fan.

I thought that South Carolina and Central Florida kicked things off this Thursday. I forgot.....did you change it to where we aren't doing obvious blowouts like OU/TCU and so on?

I found it ironic that OU harassed and pounded Heisman trophy winner Chris Weinke while FSU was a 10 point fav(i believe) and nobody respected OU even though they were undefeated and FSU had one loss. Fast forward to 2003 and LSU harrassed and pounded Heisman trophy winner Jason White while OU was a 10 point fav despite the fact that they lost their conference title game. Weird parallel....

I was talking about OU in 2000. Everyone thought they were going to get rolled by FSU even though they were undefeated and had buried 3 Top 10 teams in a row.

I don't think anyone expected OU to do it in 2000 or USC in 2003.

Vince Young is one of the ugliest people alive. Seriously he looks like a squashed frog. The thing is that Texas also has a good defense. Even though they lost Derrick Johnson they still return the rest of the defense and Johnson was a non-factor against Michigan. I think they'll still lose to OU b/c it's become a mental thing at this point and they've been more talented than us in the past and still gotten whipped.

I think Vince Young is an incredible athlete but I don't know if he can throw yet. Everyone calls Reggie McNeal at Texas A&M a poor-man's Vince Young but he can throw the ball 10x better than Young. I think that if you let him get going he can do things with his legs that will make your jaw drop and make you think of the things that Vick does with his legs. However his passing game needs help. He threw for 14 TDs and 12 INTs last year. He needs to learn to pass which Texas claims he's gotten worlds better at. Then again to my knowledge Texas claims this every year. But his throws were pretty good against Michigan. However he has to be a passing QB to beat OU. They will put 8 men in the box to stop him. The last few years they put 8 men in to stop him and Benson and now they don't have Benson to worry about. Selvin Young is good but he's played against OU before and they had his number much like they have Benson's. Vince Young has to pass to beat OU b/c he won't be able to run against them. They will take it away from him. Hell OU usually has the number of most of the good Texas players the worst being Chris Simms who we just smacked around relentlessly. However Major Applewhite had OU's number.....they need another QB like that. Oh and another thing. I think Texas will be hurt by the loss of Benson more than people are thinking. Texas was 16-0 when Benson rushed for over 100 yards.

I just realized that I don't think I've seen anyone pick Texas to beat Ohio State. I really think they will win.

I'm pretty sure they weren't like great though until the 70's......whereas we got great in the 50's.

So does Oklahoma rank ahead of Nebraska and Texas in the Big 8/Big XII lore or does Nebraska still get the nod if you're looking back to the Big 8? I mean if you're just counting the Big XII days OU is easily the best but looking back...

All I know is that Emo kids have like this whiney attitude about a girl that dumped them and yet they get more ass than anyone I know save my black friends(no i'm not being stereotypical or racist but my black friends get so much ass). Not to mention that most Emo kids I know now only dress and act Emo b/c they say it gets girls. They don't actually believe it.

Dude I knew about John Wooden before you mentioned it. And then there's Zona in softball and basketball too. And I know they have baseball tradition too. And Stanford and all of those other sports that they're good at over history......

I read this thing before that gives Top 5 programs. If you go off of Win Pct, Schedule, National Championships, and Big 4 bowls and combine it all into a points system it had the Top 5 as: 1) Notre Dame 2) Alabama 3) USC 4) Michigan 5) OU What's cool about OU and I think solidifies them as a Top 5 program I found out was that we've been ranked #1 more times than anyone else(well i think actually we were tied with ND for how many weeks) and if you do like an average of rankings we come out to being in the Top 5(i think #1 actually). We've also won more games since WWII than anyone else, we've won the most games since 2000, and we have the best Bowl Winning Percentage of all time(at least that was as of last year). I also read some research that supported that if you completely removed USC from the PAC 10 in history they'd be no better than a mid-major(the pac 10 that is).

Well I'm not a USC fan but I do cover college football and I really don't think that Reggie Bush is a better overall player than Matt Leinart. I think that Bush suffers from Vick syndrome. He's a great player but he's way overhyped as being god-like. I do agree he's a great player but I think Matt Leinart is better. Now about USC going unscathed.....no way. They can get upset at anytime and there's several teams on their schedule that could do the job. And they don't have Norm Chow. Yeah they have his playbook still and are still using his system but Chow knew the correct play to call in certain situations. You can have his playbook and system but you won't be able to call them like he did. It's going to catch up to USC. It caught up to Miami, OU, and FSU and it'll get USC too.

I think they could. Leinart is a tremendous QB and has plenty of weapons to throw the ball too and Lendale White isn't exactly a bum when he runs the football.

I sure hope the Eagles offense and defense can perform this well consistently during the season. Of course I'm just reading internet updates while I'm at work. It could be shitty offense and defense from the Bengals.

Yeah well ESPN is on a bandwagon. I see their Heisman poll where they have Leinart and Bush at the top.....I'm sorry but Bush finished last in voting last year and I don't think he'll finish high again. I know I used to say that Bush was better than Leinart but after the end of last season Leinart has made a believer out of me.

Probably. They're promoting USC as the greatest team ever currently. I remember them doing that with another team and they suffered a gigantic meltdown. USC is not the best team ever nor is it the best football program ever. It's in the Top 5 along with Michigan, ND, Bama, and OU but it's not as great as ESPN is making it out to be. ESPN jumps on everything that's good though and inserts it's cock into their mouths. Hell if OU was in USC's position you'd probably all say that I'd be loving the attention but I'd be sick of ESPN probably.

Man ESPN is really up on USC's nuts. I mean it's understandable but god damn I don't remember them blowing Miami from a few years ago close to this much. What will they write about now if USC loses?
