Yeah, but if they don't get to the title game then they are an at-large team and don't even go to the Rose Bowl. Still seems kind of shady to penalize the Big XII teams for not winning the conference, but still send that team.
-
So Todd McShay and Mel Kiper said that if the Big XII south winner loses to Mizzou then one of the other one-loss Big XII teams wouldn't go to the national title game because they didn't win their conference, BUT they said USC would go in place of those teams. So ummm........what if Oregon State wins out? The media complains they can't send a Big XII south team that doesn't win the conference title, so why would you send USC if they didn't win their conference title? There's no real way to justify it beyond "Well ummm.....they're USC and they're good and we think they should." But if you do that, you can't condemn the other two Big XII teams for not winning their conference. I kind of want to see that scenario play out just to see how hypocritical the media can get and how ESPN tries to BS as to why it's the right decision.

Did anybody see the All-American duel in Norman last night? Blake Griffin vs. Stephen Curry(sp?)? Neither disappointed. Griffin had 25 points and 21 rebounds while Curry dropped in 44 points.

Spoke too soon. These idiots forget there's 2 halves to a game.

Holy shit, are the Thunder actually winning a game!?!?!?!?

Anyone? I know I've asked a ton of questions and asked repeat questions in this thread. But, really this is like my personal training since I can't afford one. I went to the gym tonight and did the 12-10-8-6-4-2 on my squat and bench and then did 12-10-8 on all my other exercises (lat pull downs, bent-over rows, military press). I also progressively went up in weight on each one. I figure that the change in reps and weight will be better for muscle work and growth and create confusion. Whereas I assume doing 3x10, even if the weight is going up a bit each time it will cause my body to stagnate. Still looking for an awesome back exercise I can really feel and for a variety in my exercises. How often should you change up your routine? And can that change up just be adding more weight or doing a different rep style? Like after a month I go up in weight but go to like 2x10 and then 2x8 instead of the pyramid?

So ESPN has the BCS now? Oh great, does this mean they'll stop criticizing it? I wonder how much influence the talking head network will project now.

The Things That Anger You Thread.
Damaramu replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in General Chat
See that's the thing, I don't even know what to plug away at. I don't even know where to begin or where to look for well ANY job. Enterprise was really the only thing that came to mind before and that's why I'm doing it right now. -
The Things That Anger You Thread.

You know what angers me? Not being able to find the right job. I wanted to be a journalist but I couldn't stand making peanuts for a living for the next 10 years while I paid my dues and waited for the old dudes at the top to die. Then I got this job at Enterprise. And it pays better but it's fucking demeaning. I hate having to bow down to asshole idiotic customers. I hate having to kiss their ass to make them happy even though they're fucking morons. They don't see me as a professional with a college degree. They see me as the kid at McDonalds that's here to fill their order. I hate it. And I hate the hours. But, when I sit here and think about jobs to do for someone with a degree in journalism (or just a degree for that matter) nothing comes to mind. Absolutely nothing pops into my head. I just can't think of any job I can do, no career path to go down. And it frustrates me to no end. I'd love to find another job using a journalism degree that actually pays. Or another job for someone that has a degree (any degree) where I'm not working 10.5 hours a day and dealing with fucking morons all day. Damn. -
I think OU will beat Tech yes....but that doesn't exactly give us the 3-way tie I've been talking about. On the road at OSU is a very very hard game for OU. Right now I only give them about a 40% chance of winning that game.

Well I experienced my first Thunder game tonight. I gotta say, these people have nothing on the Hornets when it comes to putting on a show. The Hornets games just had so much more energy and the music, entertainment and videos were done so much better. This honestly reminded me of a college game. Then again, it is new personnel running the show so I guess they have to be given time. It was like the Hornets showed us what we could have, then we were stuck with this.

But the Eagles didn't lose! ...sorta They couldn't beat the 1-8 Bengals.....that's a loss to me!
-
Everytime the Cowboys win I die a little inside. On days when the Cowboys win and the Eagles lose I almost want to hang myself. I've been experiencing a lot of those days the past few years.

Well I'm not going to go as far as to abandon the team, but this shit is starting to get embarassing. Things have just continued to go downhill since the Super Bowl. I really want a major shakeup to change everything and just make the team fresh. Sometimes I watch them and I feel like there's not life out there or they aren't trying. Maybe it's just my anger and frustration seeping through and changing what I'm seeing. But they just seem so listless. I'm ready for a shakeup next season, or maybe on fiery rookie that's just really good (preferably at RB to add some power to the run game) that can get everyone energized on that team.
-
Man looking at those rankings I'm really worried about OU's ability to hop Texas if they beat Tech and OSU. Then again if the win over Tech is impressive enough I can see OU moving to 3 and Florida going to 2 while Texas goes to 4.......maybe.

So I was told by the coach that doing power cleans would help me with my lifting in rugby. Well I realized something, I don't know how to do a power clean. Then I began thinking about it and I realized, I really don't know how to do many lifts. Maybe that's why my workouts seem so stale and I feel directionless or get bored. I'm doing the same bloody thing everytime I go to the gym. Sure I switch up the weight and reps and speed so that I'm not doing the EXACT same thing everytime, but I'm still doing the same lifts. I try to work my chest, back and legs. Sometimes I'll throw the shoulders in there. This usually consists of a workout of bench press, military press, lat pull-downs, bent-over rows, squats, calf raises and hamstring curls. Nothing bad there. I mean I'm hitting all the major muscles and getting some auxillary ones in the process. But, my workouts still feel stale. I hardly ever get sore anymore even though I do change up the weight and reps. (like i was doing 3x12 on bench, now I've switched to the pyramid and upped the weight overall). Perhaps I need some variety, but really when you're going to the gym by yourself how do you learn new lifts? And are there really any lifts that can target those areas as well as the ones I'm doing? Maybe I need to increase the weight by a lot more or up the intensity? Maybe I need to pay for a few sessions with a trainer to learn a few new things? That really seems to be the only way to learn a new lift.

Well nothing terribly exciting happened today except for the ACC clusterfuck. The status quo pretty much remained the same with the top teams and we kept rolling towards the Big XII vs. SEC title game. I guess Missouri really has the chance to fuck that up. But, I've heard a lot of people thinking that if Mizzou does screw that up one of the Big XII teams that missed out on the championship game will go to the national title. I heard Phil Steele say it's almost splitting hairs between Texas, Tech and OU. I just don't see the voters wanting to put someone that didn't win their conference into the game.
-
Stanford has over 100 rushing yards in the 1st quarter and they're leading 7-3 and have a huge TOP advantage? I know it's early, but holy shit I thought USC would be crushing them for revenge right now.
-
Yeah, but that still sucks for Texas because OU is ahead of them in the coaches poll and not far behind in the BCS overall. They'll get a huge push for beating #2 Texas Tech and #15 or whatever OSU. I think Texas is in a bad situation overall for the Big XII title game. So let's say the Big XII south champ loses to Mizzou in the title game. Then who do you put in the national title game? USC is next in line according to the BCS, but we always here you can't put a team that didn't win their conference into the title game. What if they don't win their conference? Then what? This whole thing has the potential to turn into a bigger clusterfuck than last season. And it was looking like the QB of the Big XII south winner was going to win the Heisman, but Tebow is making a late push.
-
yes, but they're -YOUR- Thunder..so take that suck and hope that one day the Thunder rolls ... or something.. god that's such a shitty team name. If they had a point guard and a center then things might work out better. And no Russell Westbrook and Robert Swift do not count for either of those.
-
So you're going to weigh common opponent more than head to head matchup? No. The point is the head to head cancels it all out so you have to go with whoever you think is the best really, or whatever method you use to determine it. The argument the Texas people (and some of the national media) are using for Texas to be ahead of OU in a 3-way tie is that Texas beat OU. Ok, fine you vote Texas ahead of OU. But then why would you put Texas ahead of Tech when Tech beat Texas? And then why would you put Tech ahead of OU when OU beat them in that case? See? You have to throw all the head to head games out at this point.
-
I know this is a little late, but I was driving to work this morning and listening to one of the talking heads on ESPN Radio. He was going on again about how it would be unfair to vote OU higher than Texas in the BCS if they finished in a 3-way tie with Texas Tech. This argument still makes no sense because people completely discount Texas Tech beating Texas and the fact that OU would've beaten Tech in that argument.
-
Man, the Thunder suck something fierce.
-
Talented mid majors like Boise State prove they can beat elite and good Pac 10 and Big 12 teams, so 12-0 would be possible. Probable? No. But definitely possible. I mean, that Utah team WAS really good for a mid major. Mid majors like those don't come around very often, though. Yeah but that was also one game that they had a month to get up for (the BSU/OU game). Would they be able to do it week in and week out against the same level of competition?
-
A guy on an ESPN.com chat made a good point. I hear a lot of Texas fans saying it would be unfair for OU to go to the BCS in a 3-way tie because they beat OU. That does make sense until you think, why would it be fair for Texas to go ahead of Tech when Texas lost to tech? But then why would it be fair for Tech to go ahead of OU when they lost to OU? And we end up with the whole 3-way tie and just taking whoever has the most impressive resume (or whoever the voters vote for) and putting them in the Big 12 title game. I know I brought that up out of nowhere but I've heard a lot of Texas fans crowing about how OU will go ahead of them if there's a 3-way tie and how they think that's unfair. It really is unlucky scheduling for Texas though. They don't get to leave the voters on a happy note seeing them beat a top 5 and top 15 team like OU would if they win out.
